  • Reliability Monitor does not work, please help.

I tried to reset it using this tutorial: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/20779-reliability-monitor-reset.html

It seemed to reset the reliability monitor, as when I open there was a message at the top telling me that if I had just installed Windows 7, I might have to wait a day before entries would appear. However, it has been a week and still nothing, the graphic is completely empty.

I also tried following a walkthrough of: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-performance/my-reliability-history-contains-nothing/5b2cfcac-4f23-4fc3-b206-985108ab0161

All this seemed to change the message displayed at the top.

I already checked and Scheduler of tasks claims Ractask runs successfully.

So, I honestly don't know what the problem could be at this point. Somethings, I noticed that I could either be causing this or other computer problems are:

    (1) WinSAT, which is listed under in Task Scheduler maintenance contract, has apparently not performed over the YEARS.

    (2) monitor Performace said the system diagnostic and the recording of the performance is stopped.

and (3) a follow-up to start event session called Rac_PS is disabled (this is related to RacTask?)

Thus, any help / advice would be appreciated. (Please tell me just do a system restore, this problem has occurred for at least a year and my restore points only rise to the head of one month).

  • Satellite A30 monitor shows no sign of life

    Hello
my monitor shows no sign of life even if the rest of the computer (HD lights etc) lights up.

    Help.

Hey Dudu (nice name as a beatle vw :-))

I would recommend the external monitor to check if it s only a bad configuration monitor, screen dead or something wrong with the graphics card.
If you see something on the screen then please check if you switch to the external display device. But if all the parameters are good, and you will be see on the screen of the laptop and the external display, so I guess there must be something wrong with the graphics card.

  • What would my monitor show that HALF my desktop background, no matter what it is?

What would my monitor show that HALF my desktop background, no matter what it is?  All the icons are there, and I can change the display area (800 X 600, 1024 X 768, etc.) as always, but regardless of the chart I use as my "wallpaper" or even if I have the choice between none, 1/2 the office is white and the background color or wallpaper is 1/2.  Web pages and application pages appear as usual, which is 1 reason that I do not understand the view of the office.  I have already installed the updated drivers for my monitor (17 '' Dell E171FPb) as well as my graphics (Nvidia GeForce fx 5200).

Something to try... right click on your desktop and choose...
Properties / Desktop tab / button to customize / Web tab...

Uncheck "my homepage" current / OK / apply / OK

If there are other entries... uncheck also... or delete them.

    Hi dw_witless,

Thanks for posting on Microsoft Answers!

I suspect that data collection is not enabled. To follow the steps below to enable it:
1 activate the data collection for reliability monitor
Reliability Monitor uses data provided by the RACAgent scheduled task. Reliability Monitor will begin showing an indication of stability, and event information specific 24 hours after installation of the system.
The RACAgent scheduled task runs by default once the operating system is installed. If it is disabled, it must be enabled manually in the software component for Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in Task Scheduler.
Membership in the local Administrators group or equivalent is the minimum required to complete this procedure.
To enable the RACAgent scheduled task
    1. Click Start, click in the search box, type taskschd.msc, and then press ENTER.
    2. in the navigation pane, expand Task Scheduler Library, expand Microsoft, expand Windows, and click RAC.
3 right-click RAC, click view, and click Show hidden tasks.
    4. click on RACAgent in the results pane.
    noteNote
The RACAgent task name is maybe not completely visible. If you don't find it, expand the name column in the results pane.
    5. in the Action menu, click Activate.

If the steps above does not
    2 reset the reliability monitor:
    1. turn off your Windows 7 problem report history.
NOTE: You need to do step 6 at this link above to delete all the problems.
    2. If the Reliablity monitor is open, close it.
    3. open the Folder Options and select (dot) the hidden files and folders option, and click OK.

  • Slow to open Reliability Monitor?

I've seen this topic discussed elsewhere, but without a definitive solution.

The problem I have is that when I open the reliability monitor, it gets stuck on "reliability monitor is the generation of the report.  Please wait... "for more than 3 minutes before making the chart.  In my view, that it normally takes about 10 to 15 seconds to run.

I feel no other problems of performance degradation that I know, and I am sure, that there is no malware on my machine.  I tried to start minimal both in Mode safe mode, but they do not address the issue.

I find the reliability monitor to be a great troubleshooting tool, but I'm not inclined to use it if it takes a long time to open.

    I'm on Windows 7 x 64.

I appreciate any help on this!

    c. Select all files and delete the entries of the file.

Now try to open reliability monitor and check the status.

  • InDesign crashes for long periods: Activity Monitor shows CEPHtmlEngine and launchd "not responding" in these crashes

I use a MacBook Pro, latest OSX, last InDesign CC and in the last week or so I knew some crashes that last a few seconds, some lasting a few minutes and a few I completely outside of the force. Tonight, I started to look at the activity monitor utility in these crashes and see a process called CEPHtmlEngine, which is the parent process InDesign CC. This shows that red / is no answer when InDesign does. Makes sense. It is the only process hanging in addition to InDesign.

Anyone know what this is and if there is anything I can do to fix things? I'm placing a screengrab below InDesign and CEPHtmlEngine activity monitor window. They are not suspended for the moment, but it shows 27 recent crashes - in case it helps anyone.

    Screen Shot 2015-08-20 at 11.37.54 PM.png

    Things I've tried:

    -restart

    -rampage of indesign preferences

Here's what happened after I did these two things:

A blockage on the Welcome screen (beachball was there with the grey/blue square preloader, but the beachball is a like a vampire for the screenshots and does not)

    beachball-on-welcome.png

And here's what looked like the activity monitor.

    activity-monitor.png

And to add to the mystery, now that I keep looking at the activity monitor, launchd (1) is also a process does not not during crashes. This seems independent of the issue of CEPHtmlEngine, at least in the activity monitor shows me. And he has 71 blocks these compared to the 27 of CEPHtml or so.

    Screen Shot 2015-08-21 at 12.26.36 AM.png

Thanks in advance for your ideas!

Post an update in the case where this help someone else. The problem is apparently solved. Here's how:

I ended up running Disk Warrior and got a report of pg 54 worth of irreparable errors. 50 of these pages have been because Universal Type Client of the Extensis Office so that I could access their fonts so I installed freelance. ~ 500 files had given resource that is proven to be damaged. I decided to uninstall using instructions and a Terminal here script

    http://www.Extensis.com/support/knowledge-base/uninstalling-universal-type-client-on-Mac-o s-x.

I had to change the default security preferences to enable.

then indesign wouldn't launch because extensis (parent utc) has a plug in called FMCore that indesign necessary at the launch - universal type of thinking was always there (indesign didn't know it was uninstalled). and by clicking on a button to ok the missing extension does not work. There was not clickable.

Then, I uninstalled indesign and reinstalled, trashed prefs, I met the same problem of FMCore.

It turns out that the uninstall/reinstall indesign was not necessary. I searched my computer for plugins to extensis, trashed all the (they were in my folders app pshop to indesign, illustrator). After that I've trashed those, indesign finally launched with no crashes and seems spry and nimble again.

just to be sure that all the pain was gone, I reused diskwarrior and am coming especially clean.

  • The program monitor shows nothing

I just got CC and started to edit a project that I had initially started on another computer in the trial CS6.

Open the project, he has converted format CC, find the files and everything. When I preview the it, the program monitor shows black, but audio parts. I tried with a new project and add a few titles and still nothing in the program monitor. When I exported the media, he appeared correctly, but forecasts were black.

No idea how I could fix this? After Effects displays previews very well, QuickTime seems to work without problems, and I'm a little lost.

EDIT: Checked the file Adobe Premiere Pro preview files: there is a file called Untitled.PRV (my project is untitled) which is empty. Shouldn't there be something in there?

Running on a new computer, 8 GB of RAM, i7-3630QM 2.4 GHz, 2 x GeForce GT650M, etc. I don't think the specs are the cause.

Thanks for this tip. Read all over the web; It turns out that the codec packs is bad (I didn't) and decided to uninstall those that I donwloaded. First is always present, so it was definitely a driver problem.

  • Windows resource monitor shows only a CPU core when he should have four.

    Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, SP1
    Intel Core i3 2330 m-hyperthreading

Resource monitor normally indicates two nuclei and Hyperthreaded (a total of four graphs) when seen on the tab CPU recently single core (one graph) is displayed. This change is caused by one of the updates of Windows or an indicator of a hardware problem? Is there a recommended KB or a patch that solves it?

original title: change of resource monitor (?)

You asked: "what version of Windows 7 do you have?" ... Home Premium x 64, SP1 as indicated at the beginning of my first post.

As my screen name, incurably curious, says I couldn't let it go. Assistance in the meantime, I searched tirelessly and found a cure. I had to make a change through msconfig. I don't have any idea how the settings have been changed because no one else is using this machine.  [????] (Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwarebytes returns own scans; so I doubt that the cause is associated malware.) The following explains what I've done and the results.

    1. I went into msconfig > startup > advanced options and find the number of processors, set one. The arrow to expand a menu drop-down has also shown that a single processor. Which did not make sense because my processor Intel Core i3 2330 M's two core with hyperthreading.
    2. I unchecked the box and restart the computer.
    3. I returned the number of processors as described in #1 above. Expand the menu gave me the choice of 1, 2, 3 or 4 processors. I chose two and checked the box.
    4. I rebooted the computer again.
    5. I checked the monitor of resources (via the Task Manager) and found multiple graphics, I'm used to the display. The graphics are labeled: Service use of the CPU, CPU 0, 1 parked CPU 2 CPU and CPU3 parked.
    6. Parked CPU1 and CPU3 parked show no activity, which is expected. These show only activity when hyperthreading is active, which is rare with the programs I run. Only programs written specifically to hyperthreading use the feature.
    7. CPU utilization service CPU2 and CPU0 show activity as expected.
    8. Manager tasks shows four graphs still now.

The reason why I know not what to expect is that I have upgraded RAM and completed cooling there are a few months and one of my tools use resource monitor to control the computer. (I used other means to monitor the internal temperature). I managed to run enough programs to use more than 7 GB, the 8 GB available RAM and CPU usage Dungeon in the range of 75 to 100% for more than an hour during trials. Hyperthreading (CPU1 and CPU3) clearly indicated to be active too. Time CPU ran in the range 165F without additional cooling and order of 125-130 with additional cooling.

I will wait for return of the answers with explanations and/or questions until I got this mark as resolved.
