Vista and Windows 7 updated drivers love then here's how update the most important. Eventually the
driver Sound, although the video/display driver and others may be part of the question, as well as the
BIOS.

This is my generic how updates of appropriate driver:

This utility, it is easy see which versions are loaded:

-Free - DriverView utility displays the list of all device drivers currently loaded on your system.
For each driver in the list, additional useful information is displayed: load address of the driver,
Description, version, product name, company that created the driver and more.
http://www.NirSoft.NET/utils/DriverView.html

For drivers, visit manufacturer of emergency system and of the manufacturer of the device that are the most common.
Control Panel - device - Graphics Manager - note the brand and complete model
your video card - double - tab of the driver - write version information. Now, click on update
Driver (this can do nothing as MS is far behind the certification of drivers) - then right-click.
Uninstall - REBOOT it will refresh the driver stack.

Repeat this for network - card (NIC), Wifi network, sound, mouse, and keyboard if 3rd party
with their own software and drivers and all other main drivers that you have.

Now in the system manufacturer (Dell, HP, Toshiba as examples) site (in a restaurant), peripheral
Site of the manufacturer (Realtek, Intel, Nvidia, ATI, for example) and get their latest versions. (Look for
BIOS, Chipset and software updates on the site of the manufacturer of the system here.)

Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AD ADMIN - REBOOT after
each installation.

Always check in the Device Manager - drivers tab to be sure the version you actually install
presents itself. This is because some restore drivers before the most recent is installed (sound card drivers
in particular that) so to install a driver - reboot - check that it is installed and repeat as
necessary.

Repeat to the manufacturers - BTW in the DO NOT RUN THEIR SCANNER device - check
manually by model.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.

If you update the drivers manually, then it's a good idea to disable the facilities of driver under Windows
Updates, that leaves about Windows updates but it will not install the drivers that will be generally
older and cause problems. If updates offers a new driver and then HIDE it (right click on it), then
get new manually if you wish.

  • Satellite L855-123 freezes from time to time

    Hello

My laptop freezes from time to time, especially just after that is (re) starts. Most of the time the audio or the video freezes for a few seconds (any program I use), it affects everything else too (for example, when music freezes, google chrome will act weird as well), but I am able to move as much as I please.

In Event Viewer, there is a lot of "iastor, id: 9" since the 20th of this month (the day all gel started to happen). But as of yesterday, it seems to be have been replaced by "atapi, id: 11» I don't have any new software before all this happened?

I looked around and tried a couple things that have helped others: off Link State Power Management; made sure all drivers have been updated; Uninstall Intel Rapid Storage Technology. Nothing seems to work here however.

If all goes well, there is something else I could try before I have to go through the hassle of reinstalling windows 7 or get new hardware.

    Thank you.

I guess you do not reproduce this problem of gel.
It very difficult to talk about issues that cannot be reproduced or occur occasionally.

But you mentioned the 'file iastor in your ad.
Iastor belongs to the Intel AHCI / RAID or SATA driver package.

So I think that the problem is related to the HARD drive or the HARD disk controller.
I recommend you update Intel® Matrix Storage Manager and Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver to the latest version (check page Intel).

If this is insufficient, recover laptop using Toshiba recovery disc.
In case this is not enough, you should check if the internal HARD drive might be the occasional reason for this system of freezing.

  • video in fullscreen makes computer freeze from time to time

Recently, my computer started to glitch during playback of videos and sometimes even in music.  When the video is full-screen every minute half-minute or so it will freeze for a few seconds, causing the audio quickly repeating sound like a 'd.d.d.d.d.d.d' that lasts a few seconds and then play the movie as usual.  When I reduce the video so it does not have the full screen it time very well provided that this is under a certain size.  When this product problem however it freezes the computer as even the mouse still motionless and then jump to a new location once the computer resumes.  I don't think that this is a problem with the CPU or everything that I tried to run several large programs and max on the CPU and it won't.  Sometimes, it will however while that a video youtube as well.  I checked my card graph and other drivers and they are all up to date, the only thing I found which could be the cause is Health Center says Windows "Intel Graphics Driver has stopped working" I tried using the problem solver is but there is not a solution for this and I reinstalled the drivers anyway and he's always done.  I don't know if this is the problem or not, however, like the date, he says that this problem has occurred does not correspond with me trying it to watch videos.  I would also like to add that this problem happens more frequently when I watch the movie then using VLC with windows media player.  A movie on VLC, I played was actually almost constantly, while Windows Media Player played the film very well.  Although, as I said, Windows Media Player still does from time to time as well and I tried reinstalling VLC and loaded a completely new player to see if it was her and she is always natural.  I have not downloaded programs that I could create a conflict either.  In any case, I'm at a loss and if this problem is not indeed my computer use normal it doesn't stop me from watching movies I really love so any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.

    Hello

    1. may I know the version of the Windows operating system you have? It's windows XP, Vista, Windows 7?

    2. you receive an error message?

    3. What is the RAM in your computer?

4 is limited to a particular video format?

I suggest the following methods and check if it helps.

Method 1: I suggest you to put the computer in a clean boot state.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows 7 by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

See the link below for more details:

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows 7:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps in the section above to reset the computer to start as usual.

Method 2: the System File Checker (SFC) utility allows administrators to perform an analysis of all protected resources to make sure they are the correct version. Whether SFC should find all incorrect versions in one of these protected resources, SFC will be replaced by the correct versions.

To run a scan suite SFC as follows:

    Hello.

My lay is old and only 3 days and the only problem is that it freezes every time.
I use it on AC/high performance. I just work on it, and when I run the installation of a game it freezes usually, when sometimes I'm working on it, just browse the internet or write in word, it just freezes, did some stupid lines on the screen and that's it.
I have to stop it by pressing the button for 6 seconds.

I watched the temperatures. CPU is the GU of 60-65, 50-55 and HDD on 40-45 degrees. and when it's freezing, HDD Led goes off, all the others are bright white.

Can someone tell me what to do? What is the problem?
Should I take it back and get a new one?

    TNX

    Hello!

It is not easy to say what is the reason for this problem, but I think this could be a problem of the RAM or the motherboard.

In your case, I would check the RAM with Memtest86:

Did you install the laptop with the Toshiba recovery disc or disc of Microsoft?
Maybe reinstall Windows might also solve the problem. Try it.

  • Start/task bar freezes, but can still work on all open windows? : S

Hello and thank you if you took the time to read this.

    I'm on Vista x 64

I'll start by when I turn on my pc.  (and an example of what is happening)

Turn on > enter password > windows start > if I leave my computer for a few moments without start all programs, the start bar will freeze after about 5 minutes.

I am then unable to open all programs, if I try Ctrl + Alt + Delete I try to start the Task Manager, but it's too frozen and I can't terminate any process.

The only thing I can do is Ctrl + Alt + Del again and shut down my computer.

(is where it gets more weird)

If I start my pc > fill in password > open some programs quickly before the start bar freezes (because he ends up by themselves) then the start bar freezes after a short period (1 min) (for example) Firefox/Chrome open, Photoshop, E-mail, etc. open, I am able to use all these programs, unless I have close or minimize the window for them , making it impossible to get again (even if they are still running as a process)

If I try to Alt + Tab the real Vista Alt + animation tab that opens in the middle of the screen sits there frozen too impossible to close or change the program.

To add to the strangeness >

I then press Ctrl + Alt + Delete and click CLOSE in the lower right, when I do this the ' the following documents are still open you want to save before windows shuts etc etc etc...'   So I click Cancel instead of "Force Shut down" and everything will come back to working perfectly!

I'm confused and have no idea of what I should...

I'm guessing a repair would be useful, but there may be something im missing

Thank you for reading if you have any help much appreciated!

  • W4 - 820 freezes from time to time

    Hello

I just noticed that my Tablet Windows 8.1 W4-820 "freeze" sometimes: for example, the Metro UI maintains the response, but the rest of the applications take ages to open (email client, Internet explorer, the settings even). Meanwhile, it is hardly possible to start Task Manager to see is there any 'bad' running process.

    Anyone have similar problems?

    Hello

Thanks for the point! I downloaded 1.16 drivers and installed. Setup noticed that drivers in a system "newer or the same ', but I decided to go ahead.

Installation took literally about 40 minutes (very slowly - it was like PC becomes 100 times slower), but ended up with a few mistakes.

Finally, I gave up and launched a full factory by Acer Recovery Management reset. Have no idea what has been a problem. Lets see how it will be after the reset.

    Hello
I have a problem with the gel for laptop. It happens every 15-60 minutes and it hangs for 10-15 seconds. During this time the computer does not respond. After this, he worked as usual until it happens again. In the system event log, there are still two events added after each move:

    Storahci, ID 129
\Device\RaidPort0, restore the device, has been published.

    Disc ID 153
The operation of e/s to the logical block address * for disk 0 (the PDO name: \Device\00000035) was retried.

This occurs during normal use of the computer, which means opening some applications, watch movies etc.

My laptop is guaranteed, so I contacted the service the customer of HP in Poland. After spending 2-3 hours on the phone trying to get help from consultants and to perform various actions such as reinstalling operating system, updating drivers, hardware tests, they decided to send mail and fix it by themselves. The first time, it took a week and the only thing they did was reinstall operating system... The second time they replaced the motherboard (at least they say, it has been replaced) and reinstalled the operating system. The problem still exists, and in my opinion they don't know what they are doing. After 4 months, faced with the question, I lost $2300, my patience and lots of time. Quo vadis HP?

    Hello

The taskbar seems to freeze whenever I use my laptop. I try to click on something like the volume and it freezes, I then gives me the option to restart windows Explorer, close windows Explorer, or waiting for the program to respond. Once it has rebooted the icons for volume and Wi - Fi connection disappear from the lower right corner and are not available through any other means.

There seems to be no consistency to this incident - it happens when programs are running or not, regardless of how many times I use the laptop either hours or minutes, and there is no delay between the taskbar being insensitive (sometimes it doesn't freeze again, sometimes it freezes just after the restart). I did virus, spyware/adware/mallware scans, clean my laptop, and it had made no difference.

    Hello

    • What were the changes made before the problem occurred?

    You can view these methods:

    Method 1:

I suggest you to start your computer in safe mode with network and check.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/start-your-computer-in-safe-mode

    Method 2:

Try the SFC scan on the computer in mode noraml.

SFC/scannow is a very useful command that you can use in any version of Windows. When the SFC (System File Checker) command is used with the/scannow switch, the tool analyzes all the important files of Windows on your computer and replace if necessary.

Missing and the corruption of the operating system (like many DLLs) files are probably the main cause of the major problems of Windows. In view of this, plus the fact that the SFC/scannow is completely automatic and very easy to use, the tool should be usually one of your top not troubleshooting.

Do you mean that you need to know how to resize the Windows taskbar?

Basically you make sure it is unlocked and you put your pointer just in the right place, simply click + hold, drag to resize and release when finished.

This video is for Windows 7... It works for XP too well; looks just a little different.

  • T500: The Start Menu/task bar unresponsive (freezes for a second or 2)

I have hesitation that the xp/vista way organizes the start menu/task bar, so I use classic windows btw. Sometimes when I click programs on the start menu, task bar hotkeys, nothing happens (unresponsive for 1 ~ 2 seconds) which is disturbing. I tried the fix from microsoft for the absence of reaction for a long period of time, but I already said. Someone knows how to fix this?

HD is not only 5 400 rpm on a 250 GB drive, solid state drive. Vista Business x 64 for my OS. The problem seems to have disappeared now, except my menu start will sometimes wobbly (after deleting all vantage-ware pre-installed).
