Thunderbird is compatible with Windows 10. Defender problems are exactly that. Something that Microsoft needs to fix.

Regarding a malicious attachments go. What of them?

Before they can do any harm, they must be transformed into a binary file in the text, they are converted to attach them to the message and then be written in the Temp folder so they can be passed to the operating system with an application for opening of their. An antivirus program that cannot detect the payload of a newly written file and keep it opens is not worth the CPU cycles which is uses for to fail in its primary function. Defender claims to do this. If it isn't, still an issue for Microsoft. Now Thunderbird...

  • My thunderbird no longer meets almost every click. CAUSE: addon?

I just installed on a new computer less than a month before, so I don't think that it is a memory problem. I used Thunderbird on my last computer and never had a problem. Sometimes after the "not responding" message, the screen turns off and then I have to wait again to close and restart.

    What addons installed era?

  • updates Thunderbird no longer works.

This January, 2015 Thunderbird/calendar updates have been catastrophic. I've lost all my appointment calendar (lighting), as I do not have more than one calendar in offline mode. Ditto for my contacts. I not unhooked FF and all and reinstalled, but nothing brings all my old data. And I don't want to not Google Calendar! or Contacts! They gave me too much pain already transformed data.

I solved the problem by going back to older versions of 3 months, erasing files chrome and affecting Thunderbird v.24 not updated. Enough is enough time wasted on data loss. Thank you.

  • Thunderbird no longer responds when you delete messages SOLVED caused by attachment tree addon

Thunderbird "does not" for a few minutes when you delete one or more messages. All messages are downloaded via POP3, deleted items folder is usually empty, but sometimes there are 2-5 emails in there. For the most part occurs after the beginning of the new computer and first use of Thunderbird running on Windows 8.1 with a material more really fast.
There is no Add-ons installed. And it is not related to the virus. the problem is with any antivirus or without it.

    It's a simple bug.

It becomes a similar problem (less often) when sending emails with inline images or when the SSL certificate on the server and the exception has not been accepted yet. That's the problem since 2013 when I started using Thunderbird.

It is not present on some of the slower laptops that I use.

-If no, then the problem is either: bug in Thunderbird, in your Thunderbird profile, your email provider. Please post the help content in the topic. Troubleshooting | copy the text to the Clipboard

-If so, (always in Windows safe mode)... Start Thunderbird normally

-- If problem is still gone, then cause is a program loaded during windows startup. Possibilities include: antivirus SW, virus/malware, background downloads such as program updates
-- If problem is NOT gone, then cause is likely a Thunderbird addon - eliminate them by disabling each one at a time in Tools | addons | extensions and restarting

  • Thunderbird no longer works after installing security update

After installing 24.4.0 Thunderbird security update (20140316131045) cannot retrieve or send messages of any of my e-mail servers. There is no error message. I can see new messages through webmail.
Is it possible to uninstall this security update?

Make sure that your firewall is not blocking Thunderbird.

  • Whenever I go into emails, after the opening of two or three I have thunderbird no longer responds. (Operating system for several months) CAUSE: unknown. Disappeared after the reboot.

As stated in my question, that this is the case whenever I open emails. After opening with two success or three, I get the message not responding when I try to open the following. This has happened for a long time and is very frustrating.

Hi Wayne. Thank you for answering my question. I said, that your answer is not

solve my problem because I couldn't understand what any of it meant. We usually leave our computer on all the time and a friend who is more savvy than I suggested we turn it off for a while. This seems to have worked.
                              Cheers. Stephanie.

  • After that recommended upgrade Thunderbird no longer seems to work.

I clicked Yes when you are prompted to install the recommended upgrade. Over the years, I must have done this several times and I remember well the program always continued to work automatically. But now, when I click on the desktop to launch shortcut, one kind General screen mozilla rises, talking about Firefox and other programs.

Please post a screenshot of what you see.

  • Thunderbird no longer responds

I've used TB without problem for many years. Yesterday when I launched the app that I have to enter my password (password is) then he hooked (no response).

Released market - this time I had only to half the password entered hung.

Judge again. Base model is that I have a couple of seconds after launch and then it crashes.

This problem persists in Mode safe mode, with all disabled add-ons and reset toolbars.
There are no McAfee product on my machine (WIN 7 pro) and 'new' happened that could affect TB.

Is there an external tool, that I can use to try to compact/repair records or should I just try a re-install? Are there other options?

    Thank you.

Update: I left the machine during the night with TB still in his State "not responding".

Answered by CT this morning (9 hours later). I * think * it might have been compact folders because none of them now need to compaction? 'S done it everything it did.

Whatever it is, TB has fixed as if by magic itself!

  • Thunderbird taking 2-3 minutes per email (download). The program addresses randomly crashes or not.

As the title suggests Thunderbird takes longer than usual to download new e-mail messages and crashes randomly.

We have, with respect to the windows defender and malwarebytes anti-malware premuim antivirus.

I have excluded Thunderbird in Malwarebyte s (folder and process)

Sometimes, I have to wait 45 minutes for the program to meet again in order not to lose the air streams.

To get the best performance from Tbird:

Keep your Inbox light and compact.
Empty the trash and junk (spam), compact.

Less (and small) files on the server that should be synchronized fastest that will go.

Move into local folders, so you don't need to access other units.
Move the attachment outside the station, keeping a link.

Air currents can be stored on pc.

  • Thunderbird freezes since update to Windows 10

My computer just put up to date Windows 10. Unfortunately, Mozilla Thunderbird no longer works, even after you have re-installed. A bug perhaps?
It keeps freezing on after not even a minute. Can not even e-mails to check which is quite annoying.

No, it supports Windows 10. You updated to the latest version of Thunderbird? If Yes , then it could be a driver compatibility problem. See if the same problem occurs in "SafeMode with Networking windows. Using generic drivers. I say this for troubleshooting, not as a workaround.

  • Google says that Thunderbird does not respect safety standards. They specficly the list, Thunderbird and MS Outlook. Will there be an update that resolves this problem?

I tried to have thunderbird connect and download email from one of my google accounts. I kept getting errors of password, then one email from Google on another account, telling me that this account has failed. partial quote below. They indicate that Thunderbird no longer meets modern safety standards. Will there be an update that will fix this?

Quote and links of google with details about the new security configuration. --------

    Hi Bruce,

Recently, we have blocked an attempt to connect to your account [...].

    Connect attempt details
    Date & time: Tuesday, February 3, 2015 02:54:40 UTC
    Geographical area: New York, USA.

    If it was you
You can switch to an application made by Google like Gmail to access your account (recommended) or change your settings to https://www.google.com/settings/security/lesssecureapps so that your account is no longer protected by modern security standards.

    For more information, see https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/6010255.

There may be an update, it is highly debated. "modern safety standard" Google are trying to force all power is a web standard not a standard mail. To work properly, the application should act as a browser. Something of a security problem for an email client that is not a browser.

They mention Outlook or Thunderbird, as they are the soloists. The truth is there is not an email on the planet other than Google apps web client in a browser or on a mobile device that meet the standard. Want your Yahoo or Hotmail account to collect your messages to Gmail... No, they are less secure and in this function. Wish that Google can use to retrieve the messages of others... wow they use the less secure approach to POP and IMAP with password authentication.

But Google now have your phone number to add to their gold mine limited personal information to serve adds with.

The bottom line is to enable less secure apps. They are in line with standards applications. They are not less safe, they do not respect arbitrary authentication standard Googles.

  • How can I get rid of all ads by email appear in my taskbar to office (at the bottom of the screen) after that I connect to my Inbox TBird?

Icons show when I do an alt - tab (Windows XP) and when I click on the taskbar for Thunderbird a long list of emails, but to be treated appears. It's pretty new, not a problem for many years of happiness of the use of your e-mail program.

    I wasn't able to get a screenshot.

Thunderbird opens just as you closed. If you left 10 open messages in windows when you close they will be there the next time you start Thunderbird.
Regarding the relocation, move forward. It will occupy you for a while but not to change the way Thunderbird works normally.

  • Try to restore a lost Thunderbird profile, but can't "move profile" because the file names are too long

I'm having a problem with Thunderbird that is addressed in several comments here and on "mozillaZine", but trying to follow the instructions for fixing it, I ran into a new problem that I see not addressed. The initial problem is that described in this thread, where my files and everything just disappeared, and I am invited to start to create a new profile:

    https://support.Mozilla.org/en-us/questions/1040003

Following the links in this thread, I get to this - and since my address book has also apparently gone, I click the internal link to the section titled 'Lost profile':

    http://KB.mozillazine.org/Recovering_a_profile_that_suddenly_disappeared

Step 1 then sent me here:

    http://KB.mozillazine.org/Moving_your_profile_folder_-_Thunderbird

Step 2 on this page says: "Copy the profile folder where you want to store." When I try to do it, however (using Windows Explorer on Windows 7), he gets to halfway through the copy and then hang up because it clashes with a file name that is too long to copy. And according to the prompt that tells me this, there are many more yet to come long file names.

Ignore this error and I just ignore these files? That means the copy of profile won't be complete, which I think would be dangerous or would just cause other errors. Or is there some simpler way quite do what I originally planned to do, which is to recover the profile which has mysteriously disappeared?

Again, I'm under Thunderbird on Windows 7 and it was used for years without ever encountering this extremely irritating glitch. I'll be grateful for any help.

Here are three different approaches, I suggest:

1 see https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/using-multiple-profiles and see if you can switch to that you want to use the Profile Manager.

    2. While TB is NOT running, use a prompt with the following commands: Note: place the entire path in quotation marks.

    • CD "the full path of your current profile directory name '.
    • xcopy "the full path of your"good"profile name" / s/h
    • now check with the Windows Explorer, and switch to him as above

3 change "profiles.ini" (using a text editor such as Notepad) to point to the profile 'good '. "profiles.ini" looks like this:

    [General]
    StartWithLastProfile = 1

    [Profile0]
    Name = default
    IsRelative = 1 * change this to 0 *.
Path = yt20rg5n.default * change this to the path and the name of your profile of "good."
    Default = 1

Let me know how it turns out.
