My Time Capsule is full. What should I do to keep it to archive my data?

My Time Capsule says she's full and confiscate any more. How to continue to back up my files?

Use Airport utility to erase the backup disk in order to start fresh.

Time Machine deletes the old files if they have been deleted from the source when he needs space on the backup to a new incremental backup drive. Time Machine "Jules Destrooper" its backups. over 24 hours, old backups, except the first of the day; These "dailies", old more 30-day backups, except the first day of the week. The weeklies are kept as long as there is room.

How long a backup rest file depends on how long it was on your Mac before you deleted, assuming that you do at least one backup per day. If she was there for less than 24 hours, it will be maintained for at least a month. If she was there at least a week, it will be maintained as long as there is room. By default, Time Machine backs up every hour. This can not be changed in Time Machine. There are third-party utilities that will modify the as Editor of Time Machinebackup interval.

Time Capsule sparsebundle grows in size as needed, but not descended. So, from the point of view of the user of the time Capsule, it seems that no space was released, although there may be space in the sparsebundle.

Once Time Machine finds he can't free up enough space for new backup it reports the disk is full. You can erase the backup disk and start over or get a larger drive.

  • TIME CAPSULE FULL

    Hello

My Time capsule is full how can I destroy me versions more old ones that have been saved, it turns out that time Capsules cannot do it automatically either?
    Thank you
    Obwine JJ

Do not attempt to remove the files from the Time Machine backup... or old backups... do you nothing useful and simply do the backup unusable.

This occurs because when you update the OS it causes significant changes to the backup Time Machine such as™ is unable to understand what then is to be deleted or not.

Check in your TC on a USB key size equal or superior to that of the disk of TC.

Archive will take several hours, but once launched can stay... computer must not be running.

When finished using the clear function and do a quick erase... It will take only a few minutes. Then start the pure backup on the TC.

Keep older backups on USB for several months until you accumulate enough history you are you won't have old files... you can then remove and reuse the USB key.

The guarantee to the United States on the Time Capsule is 1 year and 2 years in a number of other countries. Apple will replace the device for you.  If the Capsule is longer under warranty but you have AppleCare implemented on one of your Macs, the time Capsule is still covered in this framework up to 3 years from the date of purchase of the time Capsule.

If the Capsule is not covered, ask Apple to replace the device for you in any case.  If they won't, then unfortunately you yourself, because Apple does not offer repairs or spare parts for the time Capsule. If you are a DIY kind of person, you can open the Capsule and clean the fan or replace the fan. Be extremely careful when you open the time Capsule to shoot components, there are has Ribbon connectors that can easily tear or break if we don't take care.

  • Time Capsule does not remove older backups.

Our 2 TB time capsule is full and no more deletes older backups so new back ups fail.  We have two Macs with El Capitan. What can we do for the capsule of time delete old backups?

Unfortunately, when the proposed backup is too large, Time Machine can not delete older files to make room for new backups.

Your options... in terms of more expensive down... are:

    (1) add an another Time Capsule and begin to go to backups

    (2) add a USB hard drive to your existing Time Capsule and start to go back up

    (3) erase the hard drive on the existing time Capsule and start backups

  • Setting up Time Capsule 3 to

Advice please, I'm a little confused as to how set up my Airport Time Capsule to do what I want it to do.

    I currently have:

-A "Superhub" recently installed offering fast home Internet access via a cable fibre optic supplier.

-J' bought a Time Capsule from Apple before hand and want to put it up to do the following:

-Connect two external hard disks accessible storage from my Mac Mini and MacBook (USB connection).

-To connect a USB printer accessible to these two computers, (more than the iPad and an IPhone).

(Meanings attached to the ATC via a USB hub)

-Use 3 TB storage in ATC as a backup Time Machine of Mac Mini and MacBook.

I understand that ATC must be connected on the beautiful via Ethernet to the WAN socket cable to a plug on the hub.

I'd be grateful if someone could please explain/point me to an explanation that describes how to set up my Mac Mini ATC in order to achieve the above requirement clearly and in simple terms.

    Thank you very much

Before you begin, you must understand that to connect a printer to the USB port on the Time Capsule, as the iPhone and iPad iOS devices will NOT be able to print to the printer?

That being said, a third party application like Printopia pourrait be able afford this, but there are no guarantees, and our ability to help on such things is limited, at best.

The reason is that iOS devices required an AirPrint -compatible printer that connects to a wireless network. In other words, Apple takes the 'Air' in AirPrint very seriously.  Please take a look at this support document Apple for more information on AirPrint compatible printers.

    On AirPrint - Apple Support

Order of the day. Depending on the brand and model of your printer, your Mac may or may not be able to print on a printer connected to the USB port on the Time Capsule.  Unfortunately, Apple does not provide a list of compatible devices in this regard.

So, while we provide some tips on 'how to' attempt to put in place, we cannot tell you if it will work or not. Not sure how well... or if it will work until you try it on your own network.

We will try to help, but normally, you could get information on how to set up your printer by people of support for your printer, not to Apple.

Regarding the connection of two hard disks and a printer to the USB port of Time Capsule, this will require the use of a powered USB hub which manages devices USB 4 or more.  The problem... some powered USB hubs will not accept a USB to operate simultaneously, so you wouldn't be able to print, for example, while you have been back up data on a hard drive connected to the powered hub.

So, you will need to check with people of powered support for your hub to ensure he will allow the simultaneous for USB devices use.

If you want to move forward, we can help get the set up time Capsule and work with your Superhub, but our ability to help printers and hard drives may be limited.

  • How can implement you not with Tim Capsule and AirPort their simulation on the iMac?

    Hello

How can implement you not with Time Capsule and AirPort their simulation on the iMac?

    I don't know what you're asking.

AirPort Extreme is a wireless router.

A Time Capsule airport is an AirPort Extreme with a built-in hard drive for data storage.

An iMac is a Mac computer.

An iMac is not a wireless router, so he is unable to perform the functions of a wireless router.

  • Change of name affects NetBios of Mac Time Capsule?

    Hi all

I noticed that my netbios name is the one I always used with '-2' after him, I don't know why and can't remember if I chose that, but I basically changed it back to what it was without the extra part. However I've done backups to my Apple Time Capsule with the "nom_netbios-2". Now that I've renamed "nom_netbios", is that going to affect my Time Capsule? Sorry for the question but I'm quite new with Time Capsule. Thank you!

Check if you have backups for two Macs with similar names, rather than backups for a Mac as follows:

Open any window in the Finder on your Mac

Look for Time Capsule icon under the title shared on the left side of the window

Click the Time Capsule and a folder called 'Data' (unless you have changed the name of the Time Capsule disk) appears in the box on the right

Double click on data to open the player. You may be asked the peripheral or the administrator Time Capsule password if you have not done this before

Now look to see if there is a file "sparsebundle" for your Mac, or there are two

Ideally, you do not want to only see one file with the normal name of your Mac

    Report on the results

  • New doubts of Time Capsule

When you set up a new time Capsule, if it "replaces" the old time Capsule, what happens to the information on the old Time Capsule? If she is transferred to the new? If it is deleted on the old?

I have a new, faster 3 TB TC and want to make the main machine on the network instead of the old TC 1 TB. I don't know whether to use the new TC to expand or replace the old TC. Above all, I want to assure you that the stored information is transferred to the new TC but NOT erased on the old TC, at least not yet.

If anyone can clarify the situation, I would appreciate it.

When you set up a new time Capsule, if it "replaces" the old time Capsule, what happens to the information on the old Time Capsule?

On the 'old' Time Capsule network configuration settings are transferred to the 'new' time Capsule and the 'old' Time Capsule is reset to default network settings.

If she is transferred to the new?

If "it" you mean that are network, the configuration settings on the 'old' Time Capsule, transferred to the 'new' time Capsule the answer is Yes.

If a 'he' you mean the data stored on the hard drive of the 'old' time Capsule, then the answer is no.

If it is deleted on the old?

If "it" you mean the network configuration settings, they resume their return to the default settings on the 'old' Time Capsule.

If a 'he' you mean the data stored on the hard drive of the 'old' time Capsule, then the answer is no.

I don't know whether to use the new TC to expand or replace the old TC.

It would depend on whether you need additional coverage of wireless signal in another room of your home. If you do, then the 'old' TC can be configured to "extend" the network provided by the 'new' TC.  It would be better if you connect the two TCs together using a wired Ethernet cable connection, but a wireless connection would probably be OK if the TC extension where it can receive a strong signal of the new TC's wireless.

I want to make sure that the stored information is transferred to the new TC but NOT erased on the old TC...

Here again, not sure what you mean by "stored" as there are two different types of stored information. See answers above.

  • Can I use time capsule from Apple and an external hard drive that is connected to my Mac at the same time to save?

I have an external hard drive (1 TB ADATA HV620) and a time capsule of Apple 2009. So far I have used the external drive-DATA to back up regularly on my Mac, but it uses one of my USB slots. I would like to start using the time capsule from Apple to everything back up, as it does so wireless, but I still want to be able to back up by using the ADATA hard drive occasionally. Is it possible to use two devices to back up or can I use only one device? Thank you.

You can use the two devices, but Time Machine... If that's what you use to back up... can back up only to a disc at a time. So if you set up Time Machine to back up on both discs, it will support drive until one first, then the other after the first drive of the backup is complete.

  • Is it possible for my daughter maintain its programme of Photos on its 3 t Time Capsule? It happened to wide to keep on his Mac laptop.

My daughter is running out of room on his Mac laptop to store his photos. She still uses iPhotos, so I have him asked to look at pictures. However, we also tried dragging his case iPhotos to 3t Time Capsule that we arrived to appear on his desk. It would not copy. So, first of all it allows Photos on his Time Capsule to use with his iPhone to store his photos? I'm guessing not because I don't think the Time Capsule works on Mac OS X required to run the Photos. I do not know because I have never used a Time Capsule.

Second, if it works, how can I help him, by telephone, to do.

    Thank you

Tell him to get an external drive, as Mac OS Extended format if it is pre-formatted not in this way, the library put there, launch iPhoto or pictures with the key Option key, and then choose this library. Once this is done, open the Time Machine system preferences pane, click Options, and remove the external drive from the exclusion list.

The working copy of the library should not be stored in a Time Capsule; only its backups should be there.
