N2048P switch CLI questions.

Hello

I received the documentation about setting up our network switch, I was able to get the IP of the switch configuration, but I have problems creating the admin at level 15 user account.  Now the admin user is level 1 read-only, here is the screenshot of the issue I'm having on my end.  The network switch, that I am trying to Setup is a N2048P

I type in the command as described in the documentation for Dell: FOUND HERE.

Definition of dial-up connection on the switch.

Management of the switch you'll need a user name and password. Management of the switch via telnet or SSH, you will need a password to enable. Enter the following commands to configure the access connection. There is an example with the name of Delluser and password as P@$$w0rd. The enable password example uses ENP@$$w0rd. These are just examples and you use more complicated, difficult to guess credentials to secure your switch.

Console >Activate

Console #Configure

Console (config) #username Dell P@$$w0rd level 15 password

Thank you.

Thanks for your help, it seems that it will be "privilege 15" solved the issue. I had to leave out the 'level '.

of the 800, 600 would be port groups with vlan simple no markings...

the rest 200 would be with 21 .1q VLAN per port group...

I want to script it. then place in a ssh/shell window

    can it be done?

    Hello

You can use the powercli New-VDPortgroup command to create groups of ports on the distributed virtual switches. You must have installed for this powercli.

    Try the following command "Get-VDSwitch-name 'MyVDSwitch' |" New-VDPortgroup-name of the "MyVDPortGroup" - NumPorts 8 - VLanId 4 ".

  • SD205 (switch) and VLAN

In addition to all my switches Cisco Catalyst (successful), I have a bunch of Linksys SD205 unmanaged switches on my local network.

I want to configure my network for VLANs, which means I have all my managed Cisco switches will change to a "Routing" configuration   This configuration works well with Cisco Catalyst switches

Question: the SD205 can operate in this environment?  I know I can't put one of the ports on the SD205 to be 'delivery', but I would like to connect the SD205 to a port of Cisco, which is "effective", so that the devices on the SD205 can communicate to the rest of the world.

So far, I have not crowned success, then - maybe - they won't work in a shared resource environment.  Someone at - it a definitive answer?  If they simply can't do it, I will stop wasting my time!

    Thank you

    # A unmanaged switch is not compatible 802. 1 q. It will pass any frame ethernet that was 802. 1 q tagged. The only executives who pass through a switch are unmarked, frames that is the VLAN port on the catalyst native.

If you want to use unmanaged switches, you have to connect to a port configured in mode access, Member of a single VLAN. For example, you can configure a port on the catalyst for access VLAN 10 mode and connect a switch to that port. All devices connected to the switch unmanaged will be VLAN 10. This as you can do.

But several VLANS: alert the unmanaged switches is impossible because all frames ethernet on the switch must not be tagged.

  • Error stack N2048P

I have 2 stacked N2048P switches. Shortly after the deployment, I started to have constantly the errors below:

    DRIVER 172.x.1.x - 2 [108576100]: broad_hpc_drv.c (4362) 8073 %% unit: 0

CDC RX FIFO entry error 37 double-bit ECC

Here are the nine switches configured by Dell. I'm not familiar enough with the operating system to solve problems. Everyone knows this? If so, how to solve it?

    Hi chanjohn01,

The error is a memory error. You can try to update or Flash the image and see if that helps. http://www.Dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=Y7V3N&FILEID=3376784553&osCode=NAA&ProductCode=networking-N2000-Series&LanguageCode=en&CategoryID=NI

If this does not resolve the problem, try unstacking and ensuring that it is just the first member of battery that is giving the issue, the error refers to unit 0.

  • RADIUS authentication for the switch using ISE

    Hi guys,.

Someone did he do Radius Authentication for switch cli connection using ISE?

We did it in our environment with ISE, but it is a challenge to give read-only access / Priv-1.

If some users know the enable password, they can use and earn full privilege.

Anyway to get around this other than to change the enable password?

We have thousands of switches and won't change on each of them.

If you have another method please advice.

    Thank you in advance.

Well, you can set the "enable" function also be controlled via the AAA server with the following command:

AAA authentication enable... This way server AAA will be checked for authentication for the secret to activate and use the local database as a last resort

    I hope this helps!

  • IP Helper

Im trying to get the IP address of the server DHCP (100.100.100.80) but he told me that it must be of the form A.B.C.D.

It is on a N2048 switch.  Basically what Im trying to do is relay DHCP configuration of vlan 2 vlan 1.  Ports 1-24 are vlan 1 and 25-48 are vlan 2 the DHCP server is physically connected to port 1 if what counts.

I received the same message as you did when you enter this IP to the web INTERFACE. However, the IP address works very well if enter you in the CLI. I'll have to do some more research on why the web UI behaves in this way. For now, you will need to connect to the switch CLI to use an IP address in the subnet.

Is a common tool used to a telnet/ssh connection to the switch.

    http://www.PuTTY.org/

When the program will be open telnet select as the connection type. If telnet was disabled and ssh enabled, and then select SSH. In the host name box, enter the IP address of the switch. Then click on the Open button.

Once the CLI window is open you will be presented with a prompt that displays: console >, type the following commands.

    Console > activate

    Console # configure

    Console (config) # ip helper-address 100.100.100.80 dhcp

Once this is done then issue the following command to ensure that the order is in place.

Console (config) # show ip helper-address

Once you are satisfied with the configuration you will need to save the configuration running in the startup configuration.

    Console (config) # end

    Console # copy running-config startup-config

Let us know if you have any questions about this process.

  • PowerConnect 6224 VLAN Routing, unable to connect out of VLAN but able to connect by entering.

To set up a new VIRTUAL local network to separate the common workstation network and obtain new DHCP scope, I had a few questions and found advice in the post of http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/network-switches/f/866/t/19370806.aspx?PageIndex=3 but now I find that my traffic is not going through properly so I'm starting a new thread to get help shows all of working.

Current primary network 192.168.1.0/24 (192.168.1.200 DHCP server). Adding new perspectives to the server for 192.168.3.0/24 active.

Gateway default 192.168.1.0/24 is 192.168.1.254 (Cisco ASA, it was set up like that when I arrived and no room to insert the dedicated router). Adding route to 192.168.3.0/24 > 192.168.1.253 (PC6224 and VLAN 1 management interface). I also added exceptions NAT asa for the 192.168.3.0 network.

I was still having some problems of scathing to the 192.168.3.0 network from the DHCP server and I added a static route on the server for this network, bypassing the ASA for routing to the switch.

From the DHCP server, I am able to ping 192.168.1.253, 192.168.3.254 but not a laptop that runs Windows XP configured with 192.168.3.1 address connected to port 22 of the 6224.

    Catalyst Software

To reimage the application partition, follow these steps:

Step 1 get the file from the software Center on Cisco.com and copy application partition

    it to a FTP server.

Step 2, connect to the switch CLI.

Step 3 start the JOINT-2 to the maintenance partition:

    cat6k > (enable) reset module_number cf:1

Step 4 connect to the partition maintenance CLI:

    Login: guest

  • SG500XG-8F8T identity crisis

We have two SG500XG-8F8T switches that have initially setup as independent switches. We tried to stack them using native stacking using ports 15 and 16 on each switch with SFP cables. They would never stack correctly. However, in trying to solve this, we have a problem. Took one of the switches on the S/N and the MAC of the other switch and little matter we don't do we get it back to its own S/N and the MAC as shown on the chassis label.

I have unplugged all connections to the switch in question except a connection to the serial port of the machine we use it to manage and tried factory reset (both using the reset button being held for more than 10 seconds) and all the way up to 30 seconds on another attempt which resets the configuration. It is remove the startup-config. However, the switch come always return displays S/N and a MAC of the second switch.

Basically the two switches are now reporting the exact same S/N and MAC while the installer in stand-alone mode, battery and with the one in question completely disconnected from everything on the network, including the other switch, and it will not always correctly reset to its own S/N and the Mac.

Any thoughts on how to solve this problem?

    Hello Erik,.

I'm really sorry for the inconvenience that you are experiencing.

This is a rare problem, but fortunately, there is a way to fix it.

    Please call us at the:

  • Cisco SG300 / ASA 5505 intervlan routing problem

    Dear all

I have a problem with the configuration correctly sg300 layer 3 behind the ASA 5505 switch (incl. license more security)

    The configuration is the following:

CISCO SG300 is configured as a layer 3 switch

VLAN native 1: 192.168.1.254, default route ip address (inside interface ASA 192.168.1.1)

    VLAN defined additional switch

    VLAN 100 with 192.168.100.0/24, default gateway 192.168.100.254

    VLAN 110 with 192.168.110.0/24, default gateway 192.168.110.254

    VLAN 120 with 172.16.0.0/16, default gateway 172.16.10.254

Of the VLANS (100,110,120) different, I am able to connect to all devices on the other VIRTUAL local networks (with the exception of Native VLAN 1; is not the ping requests)

From the switch cli I can ping my firewall (192.168.1.1) and all the other gateways of VLANs and vlan (VLAN1, 100, 110, 120) devices

Asa cli I can only ping my switch (192.168.1.254) port, but no other devices in other VLAN

My question is this. What should I change or installation in the switch configuration or asa so that other VLANs to access the Internet through the ASA. I will not use the ASA as intervlan routing device, because the switch does this for me

I tried to change the asa int e0/1 in trunkport (uplink port switch also), to enable all the VLANS, but as soon as I do that, I can not ping 192.168.1.254 ASA cli more.

    Any help is greatly appreciated

    Concerning

    Edwin

Hi Edwin, because the switch is layer 3, the only necessary behavior is to ensure that default gateways to the computer are set on the SVI interface connection to the switch to make sure that the switch is transfer traffic wished to the ASA.

The configuration between the ASA and the switch must stay true by dot1q, such as the vlan all other, unidentified native VLAN tagged.

Also, if I'm not wrong, on the SAA you must set the security level of the port to 100.

Pretty simple. But it can be laborious and time-consuming to create this list. Pages will be 'Start from A' for multiple choices responses. Then I write the following question and have to manually switch the question # return to «Continue from previous» In addition, I would like to automatically switch a line between choice and the next question.

Actually, is there an easier way for automatically formatting this list without setting manually each line?

The problem is with Pages 5.6.2.

You can make a fairly complex style of lists in Pages ' 09, down to the styling of the numbering prefix used and save it as a hierarchical list Style and combine this with a paragraph Style.

But in the Pages 5.6.2, like most other things, is a lost cause.

  • Pulls plug wrong Mac Pro?

I use a Mac Pro 2012 environment; run the Mavericks OS X 10.9.5.  I was running "Disk utility" my Mac Pro is stuck in some sort of loop (I think):

    1. the Force Quit option did not work for out me of trouble.

    2. I tried pressing the switch "power", but that no longer works.

    3. I pulled the power cord from the power source.  It worked.  Then I reconnected the power cord and started my Mac Pro using the "switch".  Question: I did a lot of damage to my Mac Pro by pulling on the supply cord to stop my Mac?  Do you think I should buy and install a new hard drive?

It is never a good idea, unless you have completely into it as you were. You left some disk problems, but there is a fair chance to run repair disk will correct them. The best thing to do is restart the SHIFT key now. The start-up will take much longer time than usual, run repair disk, you can restart normally.
