NB10-T-106 - issues of recovery procedure

SatPro NB10-T-106 came pre-installed with Win 8 and I upgraded successfully to Win 8.1.
Created recovery disks (set of 3) DVDs and disc #1 seems to work when the PC is restarted with key f12. It's very different to the previous routines 'restore' to Win Xp and Win7.

QUESTION 1: How is it possible to select a partition (drive c) to prevent the deletion of data on other leave? (I have two others were leaving).

QUESTION 2: Vignette product ID (formerly product key) does not exist.
My computer is a Toshiba Refurb so is this the reason? System summary lists a product ID special that ends with AAOEM. The string is not the code to 25 normal numbers, but only 20 digits starting 00191. Where can I find to win 8.1 Product ID?

I use Toshiba laptops for a long time now started with old Satellite 1800 with Windows XP Home edition.
In my opinion the installation procedure is based on the same principle. Install recovery disc is bootable media and installation of recovery is very simply.

Q1: Detailed information on the installation of recovery image that you can find on http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD1303440001R02.htm

Q2: all I know is that each recovery image is already activated and whenever you install original recovery image you need not enter the product key for the activation of the operating system. This product key cannot be used to activate Windows if you use a different Windows installation disc so in general, you don't need at all.

You are right. It's a really strange problem. I don't know if you use some external devices but before you start recovery procedure please remove all connected devices.
The fact is that this recovery image is designed for this model of laptop and the specific hardware configuration. If the BSOD occurs after the installation of the image it takes little hardware related issue.

I don't really have any other explanation. Problem is that no one here will be able to offer an accurate diagnosis, and we can only speculate what may be the problem.

Try to do it again to the recovery facility, but if the problem persists I fear that you need professional help.

You want to recover the laptop using HARD drive recovery?
HARD drive recovery is ONLY possible if the HARD disk and partition has not previously touched!
In case you have changed something on the HARD drive, HARD drive recovery would no more work.

  • Satellite L670D - issue of recovery on the new HARD drive

    Hi all.

I actually sent this support Toshiba has a few days ago, but still have received no response and thought I would try this forum.

That's the problem; the hard drive of my laptop is a failure, I had warnings to create a backup and replace the drive hard as soon as possible. I have done this and have mounted with success the computer with a new brand Hitachi 500 GB hard drive, with no problems.

Then, I entered the program installation and makes the dvd the first boot drive. The first disc of recovery in the drive and it starts perfectly and started the process. I then went through the recovery procedure with the DVD 3 x on my computer, it seemed to work flawlessly, and after inserting all 3 disks in the order as requested, I was instructed to remove the final support.

I have reset the boot hard drive and windows started normally until I got to this point. "the installation program starts services. Then comes a pop-up window saying; "windows could not complete the installation, to install windows on installation, this restart of the computer.

Of course I tried to start in a few other ways to the f8 advanced boot options, but he always does this same thing.

I can't imagine what the problem is that everything seems to go well until this?

Hope you can help me solve this problem.

  • Satellite A100 system goes to a black screen after the recovery procedure

I tried running the recovery CD, I received on my cell phone. the process perfectly, (I have only one CD, I don't know if I need a second). At the end of the process, I have the option to insert the second CD, or jump.
Because I don't have that one CD I have support on ignore.

I tells me that the installation is complete and I can restart my system.
Then I removed the disk and I tried to reboot the system. The system goes to a black screen (on which he indicates that Microsoft load) and then crashes. That was the problem I was facing before recovery.

Basically, the recovery process has not worked. I don't think I did something very wrong, unless I need a second CD. What could be the problem?

    Help me please!

    Hello

The A100 is one of the new series of laptops and AFAIK the image of Toshiba was placed only on a CD (DVD) recovery.
I think that the message and the possibility to insert the second CDconfuses a little.

In my opinion the black screen and freeze has nothing to do with the recovery procedure and the new installation if Windows OS.
Due to the fact that this problem has occurred until you have installed the OS from the recovery CD, I assume that there must be something wrong with the hardware.

But it s very interesting to know if the same problem appears after the new installation of Windows from the original CD of Microsoft.

    It's worth a try.

  • Tecra S3: issues of recovery dvd

    Salvation;

I have a Tecra S3 120 model and its drive hard sata 80 GB has been partitioned to install debian and other BONE and have a backup only fat32 partition.

Tecra have a manual and a single DVD, the recovery DVDs. A long time, I decided to have a quick glance; I started, and oh surprise, tool recovery begins to format drive without my intervention.
    Quickly I turned off.

I am fortunate because only first 20 GB seems to be lost, so I only lost partition winXP and no backups, and linux (knoppix and testdisk help me to redo the partition table and the man gpart show how to do a mbr backup me and restore).

Unfortunately, a second attempt gave me the same behavior of "recovery."
Now I reinstall Windows XP, and a look at DVD show me that, like other Toshiba (Quosmio F-20), this DVD has an 'expert' mode (I see the bitmat with the screen, in a folder).

I consider that the behavior by default as a danger bug, but:

    1. How can I access the so-called "expert mode" before formatting?
2 and, very important, what is the image of ghost I have to choose for my 20 GB partition?
Perhaps these images are volumes of the same image? :

    Thank you!

    Hello

I m very surprised of your suggestion.
To my knowledge the recovery procedure doesn't start automatically.
You must choose between 2 modes, the standard mode and expert mode, until the procedure will begin.
It is very amazing that it is not possible to choose it between these modes.

But you can order a new partner of Toshiba Recovery CD.
Perhaps only your CD is damaged.

In any case, I don't think you will be able to restore your 20 GB on the HARD disk. My view, to start the process of full recovery to reinstall the Windows operating system

Im trying to start the HARD drive retrieve using this tutorial:

    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/HTD9102IR0000R01.htm

and uptill now ive never been able to take the selection of keyboard layout that my hard drive is not proeprly work but finally ive today managed to cross twice in a row, but instead of a log on screen as the tutorialshows, I get a box with a red and white circle X, he says something in sense of I need to log in before I can use this feature and communicate with my administration system Press ok to restart. So, how can I do so im automatically logged until I reached this point is there anything I can do in the bios I can access only no problems without it crashing.

    Thnx, Ross

All the HARD drive recovery procedure has nothing to do with the BIOS.

Your story is quite confusing and I don t understand this with red and white circle X.
I made repeated several times and have never seen anything like it.
I can imagine that recovery image is missing, and as a result, you get this message.

Can you please tell me on which stage you have problems? Maybe you can take a picture?

Just click NEXT in step 2.
To step 3 remember your username is just a (the same as the Windows logon). If you use the password put it there but otherwise just leave it blank and click NEXT.

  • Satellite A100 loads the operating system correctly after the recovery procedure

    Hello

I'm in trouble... I used the recovery CD last week after my laptop developed problems. After the recovery procedure, when I turn on the pc, it loads directly in mode 'Owner' - the pilot of the internet has no charge, Norton AV, supplied with the pc does not load. Basically, it's a shadow of his former self.

And when I try and start the recovery process, that it doesn't... it does not read the disc.
I know that the recovery process did not work properly cos when I look in C: it shows that 60 GB of data is present on the hard disk, so the recovery is not cleaned the hard drive at all.

The only way I can describe it, is that the pc is in some sort of limbo. I can't access the original account I created.

The recovery disk is still okay because I "explored" the drive on another computer and it contains all the data.

    Help, please.

Looks a bit the problem I have with an A100 recovery disk. Mine formatted PC, unpack

Like you, I can read the DVD in another PC. I wonder if there is a batch of duff of recovery DVD?

I think I'll try to install XP from a different installation disk. It'll be a bit of a pain in the neck
because it will not authenticate with MS, but at least he's going to prove whether or not the hardware of the laptop is duff.

I'll post back here when (if) I get anywhere.

I don't have a windows cd only toshiba dvd that should put my laptop back to factory settings.

Can aynone help me before I have sound toshiba?

    Hello

It's not easy to say why it happens. Usually, the Toshiba Recovery CD should work properly and after any recovery procedure, the laptop should run without any problems.
You suggested that you ordered this CD from recovery of the ASP.
Do you have the right recovery CD? Check the description of CD.

The other possibility is that the device has a hardware failure. In this case, you must contact the service of Toshiba. Sorry, but that's all I can suggest.

  • Satellite A30: HDD size after the recovery procedure and Defrag

I have a Satellite A30 and just did a complete reinstall from the recovery of the product disks. My question relates to the amount of disk space hard should be resumed aftre reinstall it.
My hard drive is 4.95 full GB according to the procedure that is much higher than I expected.

Also, after reviewing the reader with Defragmenter I seem to have twice taken up training with Greens, unmovable files like Blue contiguous files. Unmovable files is there and if not how to I remove them?

It's where I guess that extra hard disk space is lost when it is lost?

    Thank you

    Hello

It's not easy to say exactly how much space should be taken after the recovery procedure.
I have so much that I know on the recovery CD, you will find the whole operating system Windows XP, driver Toshiba and utilities as well as additional software like OneNote, WinDVD, etc.
This additional software could take as much space on the disk outside the OS.

Blue not moveable files belong to the Windows operating system, and as a result, the files are placed together.

  • Satellite L300 - issue of recovery CD

I need to restore factory settings and have somehow managed to delete my recovery partition...
After a few bit of playing and reading I thought it better to order just a recovery CD from the backup media on Toshiba thingy.

Now, when playing around, there was not a lot of people who said that their recovery CD did not work because they had no recovery partition.

So, before you start throwing £30 autour, I figure it better to ask:

    * Is the restoration of recovery CD of my laptop to its factory settings WITHOUT the recovery partition? *

    Thanks for any help :D

    > Will be the recovery CD restore my laptop to its factory WITHOUT the recovery partition settings?

    YES!

If you have the recovery DVDs, then you could use it to restore the laptop to factory settings.
Many people deleted the recovery image of HARD drive on the second partition and were NOT able to create the recovery disk. But if you have this drive then the HARD drive recovery files are not necessary to perform the recovery procedure.

    Hello

Looks like it's not possible to read from the recovery disc.
How did you perform the recovery procedure?

You have inserted the right recovery disk and started from this disk. Right?
Usually, recovery is expected to begin and the installation should run smoothly

If this is not the case then recovery disks would be destruction, scratched, etc.

the file being attempted to install isn't what they expected the ROMMON of the MSS.

The Image file of the system was damaged during the download.

OR the attempt of the procedure of the System Image with one file other than a System Image.

There are several types of files for IPS and their use is often confused.

    For example:

For version 2.0000 E3, there were 3 different files for the AIP-SSM-10:

    The system image:

    IPS-SSM_10-K9-sys-1.1-a-6.1-2-E3.img

-For installation through ROMMON or more technically the "module hw-module 1 recover...» "order of the SAA. Install a complete Image of the system on the MSS and erases all previous data from the SSM.

NOTE: This is the type of file to be used in the method you follow.

    Update:

    IPS - K9 - 6.1 - 2 - E3.pkg

-To upgrade from an earlier version of the sensor to this new version. It converts the previous configuration to work with the new version.

    Recovery partition:

    IPS-K9-r-1.1-a-6.1-2-E3.pkg

-For the upgrade JUST the SSM recovery partition. The recovery partition can be used for recovery with the "application-recovery partition" command in the sensor CLI.

There may be some confusion here, because this file is the 'Recovery' image, BUT is NOT used with the command "recover the hw-module module 1" of the SAA.

Instead, the Image of the 'system' is what is used with the command "recover the hw-module module 1.

If you find that you do not use the correct file type (unkowingly used a upgrade or recovery file), then download the System Image file and try again.

If you use the System Image file, then check the size and md5 checksum of the file and compare it to what is on cisco.com. It was damaged during the download from cisco.com and you may need a new download of the file.

If the checksum md5 and size of the file is the file on cisco.com, check your TFTP server. Using a 3rd attempt of machine for the file from the tftp server tftp. Once the tftp would check the size and md5 checksum to verify that your TFTP server is able to serve the entire file. You want to make sure your TFTP server is not truncate your file for download.
