Need help connecting to the internet wifi router

I plugged the router using these steps.

1. unplugged power modem, then plugged the Ethernet cable to the internet port of the router to the modem port.

2. connecting modem to the power outlet. lights come back waited it.

3. wired router power adapter taken and waited for the LEDs lights.

4 router connected to the computer with another Ethernet cable.

5 open the browser.  No internet connection.

Window came from the Control Panel, network and sharing.  I chose Home Network.  (I only have one computer, but want to connect a wifi connection tablet.)

Residential group became

Ellen-PC - network Internet - X 3

The X said no internet connection.  I worked in the information network until I myself pointed out and called my cable company.  Still no internet.

I have restarted the computer, removed the router, modem power drove, received a refresh signal and then reconnected the wifi router.  No Internet.  I called the cable company and told them that the problem with the network.  The technology said that I ran out of network cards.  I thought she meant that I have lack of software.

I'd just do a Dell restore to the factory settings and thought, the NIC is a program that has not been restored, because I left the modem connected when I did the restore, I repeated the restore factory and re plugged the router.  Still no internet.  I called the cable company, they said that the network adapter is hardware.  I went to the Dell website to buy it.  The sales expert checked my service tag and found that my computer was ready wifi.   Agent said system has card, wireless, HMC, DW1703, BGN, WORLD WIDE.

Can someone tell me what is the problem?  I think it must be in the Control Panel, "network and sharing."  I type the name given by Netgear, it has been recognized by my tablet, but no internet connection.  Help would be greatly appreciated.

I have connected to the internet by adding a device in devices and printers.  There is now an icon for my wireless router.  The internet has become immediately available.

  • Need help, connect to the wifi and Panel set to work.

Let me start by saying that I recently downloaded malware bytes and microsoft security essentials. Malware found 4 corrupted files. I deleted the and also received a warning that the files needed to restore. I restarted the computer and then I realized that the computer wouldn't connect to the Internet wirelessly. There is no any wifi connection possible. I tried to access the firewall via the Control Panel, but I received a message saying that something is misspelled, and I needed to check my spelling and try again. I can't access anything in the control panel. I then returned to malicious software and restored the files and I don't know if it restored. Again, I have no wireless connections and cannot use Control Panel. I did a restore there when I knew that nothing was wrong with her, but he says that there is no change for a week about a week ago. I have the internet service of Rogers, a Dell laptop with microsoft xp professional and Apple airport extreme. I can't connect to the internet. I tried Apple, Rogers and Microsoft and no one can solve the problem. This has happened once before and Rogers has solved the problem by changing something on the WPA or WPA2 but I don't remember the details and they don't seem to help. We rebooted the router and my pc. I deleted and readded the connection; not good. Someone at - it ideas?

    Hi Julie,.

    1. do you receive an error message or error code?

2 have you made changes on the computer before this problem?

WPA authenticates users to ensure that only authorized people can access the network. There are two types of WPA authentication: WPA and WPA2. WPA is designed to work with all wireless network cards.

This problem can occur because settings of Internet connection or drivers, try the following methods and check if it helps.

    Method 1:

How to troubleshoot wireless network connections in Windows XP Service Pack 2: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/870702

    Method 2:

This problem can occur if authentication enable IEEE 802. 1 X for this network checkbox is enabled. If this box is checked, but there is no server to authenticate the connection is interrupted. If you turn on the wireless network connection, it disconnects again after a short period.

To disable authentication IEEE 802. 1 X, follow these steps:

    a. Click Start, type ncpa.cpl, and then press ENTER.

    b. right click on your wireless network connection, then click Properties.

    c. click the wireless networks tab.

    d. under preferred networks, click your wireless network, and then click Properties.

    e. click on the Authentication tab, click to clear the authentication enable IEEE 802. 1 X for this network check box and then click OK twice.

Refer to the steps in the following Microsoft article.

  • What are the drivers, I need to connect to the internet for a GT5432 of operating Windows XP and not Vista?

I asked before, but try to reformulate my question. In my opinion, it miss a driver I need or have bad installed. (of the re - install after a storm)

Charter, my I, said that there is a problem with my drivers or the Ethernet connection. I installed a new Ethernet connection-SMC1244TX. Still no connection.  I called SMC customer support number - they me Charter connected - which gave me the number to the catwalk, who want to $99-149 to ask a question because it is not under warranty, because someone changed the Vista to Windows XP, I thought I found the download for the correct drivers, but when I put my flash drive on GT5432 - I was not able to get the files-now I can't locate the download again.

So what are the real drivers that I need on the GT 5432 operating Windows XP so you can connect to the internet?

I just skimmed the old thread. It's too long. I think you should have stayed there.
This has probably already been given to you in the old net but that's...
Go to http://www.smc.com/index.cfm?event=downloads.doSearchCriteria&localeCode=EN_USA&productCategory=9&modelNumber=1537&partNumber=0&downloadType=1&knowsPartNumber=false and download the driver. You will need your card, part number. He also says it's a SMC1244TX-1. Don't know if it's the same thing as what you have.

I can offer help any more than that. If you need additional help, go to the old thread.

The drivers you need are determined by the hardware you have.  You need to know the brand and model in order to go to the manufacturer and download the drivers for this specific device.

Since then, you didn't give any material information...

    Spoiler (Highlight to read)

    Hello.

I have a HP Pavilion Dv6-2110AX Windows 7 Home Premium and one a few days ago I had a problem with the internet/network connection.

It was working normally and then, suddenly, just collapsed. I tried everything I know: System Restore, update the wireless driver (Atheros AR9258 wireless adapter - ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp48001-48500/sp48488.exe), reset the driver (I don't know if I did it right), but nothings helped to y for remedy.

The only message I get I can't try something there: "Windows has not automatically determine the network proxy settings." I tried to do it manually, but it won't let me change any configuration in there, I don't know why.

In the Device Manager, it indicates that the wi - fi adapter is not working properly and I can't access internet and network with my smartphone and 2 other computers at home, so I guess that the problem is not the router and I don't know what else to do.

The only thing I have not tried to change IP address, because I don't have the Setup for this network and I don't know if this will help also.

I appreciate all help. Thank you!!

    MR. B

Well well, after 1 month trying to get assistance from HP and after 2 weeks in this forum (thanks to everyone who saw the subject and tried to help ) I just gave up and did what I have done since I had the problem.

My solution was to use the recovery discs to "Reinstall" everything and now the laptop is like when I bought it, but works.

If you decide to do, REMEMBER to backup all your files before otherwise you goanna lose everything, because the recovery system returns your computer to the factory settings.

The best thing is, it took less than an hour to do. If I'd known...

Good luck people, c is the next time (hopefully not soon)... hehhehe!

  • Need help connecting 2 routers

Hello, I was scratching around the search for a solution to my problem for a few weeks now.

I have 2 routers (connected according to the picture below) - I have it set up so that I can collect access logs (one of the routers is bit I found that can connect internet URL) to any person who connects via wifi on the BEF router, however I cannot get an internet connection using a LAN port (according to the red line). I read that to record the activity that I need to connect via the internet port (yellow dotted line), but I can't make it work, and it's frustrating the heck out of me now

Does anyone have any solutions for this?

    Thanks in advance.

What is the address IP of WAG?

Press and hold the reset button on the BEFW router for 30 seconds. Release the reset and wait 30 seconds. Open the BEFW router configuration page. Change the local IP address of BEFW to 192.168.5.1.

Connect to port Internet router BEFW WAG. Cycle power to the BEFW11S4 router. Now try to access internet through router BEFW11S4. DO not disable the DHCP server on the router BEFW11S4.

  • How can I get my xp computer that relates to the time capsule hard airport to connect to the internet

My time capsule airport works to my iMac and my Sony laptop win7.

I also have a windows xp computer that needs to connect to the internet while the airport time capsule hard cable . However, that xp computer seems not to recognize that the capsule exists and cannot connect to the internet. Can someone help me do this work? I'm not fluent in technical aspects of networks and connections. On the Sony, I just had to select the wireless network and put the password and everything was good. With the XP, nothing but problems.

    Help?

Can your computer XP connect to Internet from other networks or simply not yours? From the description of your problem, looks like a configuration issue with your Windows XP computer and NOT the airport Time Capsule.

Note: You do now that Microsoft does support Windows XP and that she would run as a potential security risk, especially when accessing Internet with it?

However, if you still wish to pursue this, you can try the following to help you get started. You can post to a forum of Microsoft support for troubleshooting of networking with Windows XP problems.

Step 1. Check your network configuration.

To check the settings of network configuration for the correct IP address information, you can do the following:

    • In the command prompt window, type ipconfig/alland then press ENTER.
    • The results of this command will display a list of IPv4 default gateway addresses (this should be your Time Capsule) and DNS settings for all of your network interfaces (Ethernet, wireless, etc.) By default, your IPv4 address should be something like: 10.0.1.n.; the default gateway address should be: 10.0.1.1. The DNS addresses must match what your ISP provides you.
    • If you get an IPv4 address that begins with 169.n.n.n, then go to step 2 below.

Step 2. Try to repair the connection.
Network connection repair feature to renew the IPv4 network connection setting to try to correct the configuration on your Windows XP device issues. To access repair network connection, follow these steps:

    • Click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click network connections.
    • Right click on the connection that you want to repair and then click Repair. Repair function will perform a number of steps automatically to try to fix the poorly configured settings for your network connection.
