Need to upgrade RAM for XPS L501x

Hello reader,.

I bought my Dell L501x August 2, 2011. It came with 3 GB of Ram. Now I find an urgent need to update my RAM 8 GB (maximum possible RAM supported by the motherboard) so I could work on my thesis smoothly which requires heavy MATLAB simulations. I tried several RAM with the laptop and I have found none compatible with the motherboard. IT is supported by my University, was also confused. Please suggest me a perfectly compatible RAM so I could update my system. Here are some details of my purchase.

I would be really, really grateful if someone helps me find one compatible with RAM where Dell store outside :)

  • Want to upgrade ram for my Lenovo ThinkPad T61 6463 - B45

    Hello

I want to upgrad ram for my Lenovo ThinkPad T61 6463 - B45 actually 4 GB (2 x 2 GB) instead of 8 GB (2 x 4 GB). I found some in my next computer store 4096 MB-DATA Value SO - DDR2 800 MHz. But I don't know if the PC2-6400 (800 MHz) would work in my notebook.

Can someone confirm if these would work? Issue in this page , I found the following information:

    Yavuz, welcome to the forum,

Looking at the specs you should be good to go, but have not personally tested, I can't be 100% sure.

What really works, as I installed it in my T61p is Corsair VS4GSDS800D2 G.

  • Upgrading RAM for Dv6-3206AX? Maximum supported RAM

    Hi all

I am in need to upgrade my memory of's laptop (DV6-3206AX). At the present time it is 4 GB and I thought to upgrade to 16 GB.

The reason for this upgrade is, I work as a developer and use many technologies and software requiring a huge memory tell SharePoint, SQL Server, DMS systems. I tend to play with these technologies on my laptop and of course to learn and build solutions. Now 2013 SharePoint requires more memory, I would need to increase the memory of my laptop.

My concern, I am not sure weather my laptop wouldn't support 16 GB or not? If so, then this high memoery would result in additional heating.

    Configuration of the laptop

    • AMD Phenom II N970 (4 c, 2.20 GHz/4 x 512 KB / 3.6GTs)
    • 4 GB RAM DDR3
    • 500 GB SATA HARD DRIVE
    • DVD +/-RW double layer with LightScribe drive
    • 15.6-inch HD (1366 x 768) LED backlit BrightView
    • AMD Radeon HD 6550 (discreet, dedicated 1 GB)
    • 10/100/1000 LAN, 802.11 b/g/n WLAN
    • Dolby Digital Audio Advance with speakers Altec Lansing, Webcam, media card reader
    • 1 x HDMI, 1 x VGA, 3 x USB 2.0, 1 x USB/eSATA, 1 x RJ-45
    • AC adapter, battery, power cord
    • (Windows 7 Home Premium pre-installed) Windows 8 Professional upgrade.

Any person who has knowledge or have already tried on similar systems, share your experience.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

You machine is not in the following list:

    http://www.crucial.com/upgrade/HP+-+Compaq-memory/Pavilion+DV6+series-models.html

Based on this, it supports ONLY 8 GB.

    A closer is: http://www.crucial.com/upgrade/HP+-+Compaq-memory/Pavilion+DV6+Series/Pavilion+dv6-3210us-upgrades.html

You can buy from them, or use the information to buy elsewhere.

  • Upgrade GPU for XPS 8700

As the title says, I have a question about the Dell XPS 8700. I wanted to update the graphics card and after browsing through the forum, I think I already know the answer, but would have an EVGA GeForce GTX 960 to adapt and be compatible.

The dimensions of the GPU are 4.38 inches x 10.1 inches x 2 inches with a request for a power of 400 W.

There is an entire thread dedicated to the XPS 8700 / nVidia GTX upgrade.

    http://en.community.Dell.com/support-forums/desktop/f/3515/t/19611037

you don't need to upgrade the power supply for a GTX 960, and most will fit.

Regarding the power supply, I went with Seasonic X - 650 s and they are a little longer than the original but adapt easily.

  • Upgrading RAM for the name of the model: SVF15212, model number: SVF152C1WW

    Hello

Recently, I bought a Sony Vaio SVF15212 (SVF152C1WW model number) in India.

    It came with 2 GB of RAM preinstalled DDR3 (DDR3 PC3-12800(800MHz) 1x2Go).

It has 2 memory slots, you are free to upgrade.

I was told from Sony's Web site, we can improve up to 8GB RAM.

I bought the Rams of Strontium and Simmtronics 4 GB DDR3 RAM PC3-12800 but when I installed these Rams in second slot RAM (1x2Go and 1x4Go) the laptop won't turn on. But if the Rams individually 4 GB then the laptop starts normally. So I returned these Rams.

So what is the best idea that you can give me... I need to remove 2GB DDR3 RAM preinstalled and use one of the other Rams of 4 GB or 8 GB? (i.e. only a bar than a single stick of 8 GB or 4 GB).

I need more memory RAM that I use many virtual machines. I read somewhere that they installed 8 GB of RAM in the computer laptop sony vaio (not sure of exact model) with 2 GB pre-installed so that they use 10GB of RAM...

Is this possible? If so I'm happy that I can keep original key of 2 GB and you can buy 8GB new stick so that my RAM memory would be 10 GB. WOW!... even thought is amazing...

If someone help me (guide me) which is better than I do...?

    Thank you and best regards,

    SRI.

    Thanks... will check and update.

Model Pavilion dv6t - 3000 CTO Select Edition, Prod #VXO69AV, Intel Core i5 - 450 M (2.4 GHz with 3 MB L3 Cache) with Turbo Boost up to 2.66 GHz, 160 GB Solid State Drive Flash Module, 1 GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 switchable graphics, Windows 7 Ultimate. I currently have the original 6 GB of ram that came on the HP laptop, which includes a stick of 4 GB and 2 GB key.

I want to spend the maximum amount of ram and the ram for maximum performance (speed). Analysis of Crucial.com says I have 6 GB of ram and the maximum ram is 8 GB. He also says that I can buy one (or two) 4 GB DDR3 PC3-12800. CL = 11.    NON ECC unbuffered.     DDR3-1600.   1.35v. here is the link for the crucial scan and recommendations:

Here is a link below for my maintenance SE dv6t and Service Guide, with memory on page 70. The service guide references DDR3 PC3-10600 clocked at 1333 MHz.

    http://h10032.www1.HP.com/CTG/manual/c02657339.PDF

    Issues related to the:

The Crucial scan seems to direct me to the memory of better and faster that is listed in the Service Guide. My laptop took advantage of this Crucial memory to operate at faster speeds than the memory, I have now? What latency (CL) cases? I saw sticks to new Egg with CL = 9 instead of this Crucial CL = 11. CL is important? What I have to buy two Crucial 4 GB sticks or I can I keep my original 4 GB stick and add a Crucial 4 GB stick for my 8GB? Is Crucial memory memory low density -something I've read elsewhere that I need? FWIW, a diagnostic analysis of Norton said that my current memory is syncing to 1067 ns.

I have also these two links below for key USB PNY to a Best Buy nearby. The first stick of memory PNY seems to correspond to the Crucial memory card. Is - this low density memory PNY memory? And yet once, can I buy a single stick of 4 GB and add to my current 4 GB stick? This 4 GB PNY stick below which seems to fit the profile of Crucial scan is what I would buy if he tell you it's compatible, because I can buy it at a Best Buy near and easily return it if it does not work:

    http://www.BestBuy.com/site/PNY-1-x-4GB-DDR3-low-voltage-notebook-memory/5745153.p?ID=1219153729590&...

And here is the link to a second best buy PNY 4 GB stick whose plug appear to be closest to the Service of Guide specifications, but this stick may not be low voltage and it has less maximum MHz:

    http://www.BestBuy.com/site/PNY-4GB-DDR3-SDRAM-memory-module/3779273.p?ID=1218431615147&skuId=377927...

Thank you for your help and your recommendations!

Hello.  I'll answer my own questions in the last post above.  Fortunately, HP expert Paul Tikanen resolved my questions in a thread with the following response.  Thank you, Mr. Tikkanen!

"The faster the memory will run in your laptop is at 1066 Mhz, which is the speed of the FSB of the i5 - 450 M.

    processor.

    http://Ark.Intel.com/products/49022/Intel-Core-i5-450M-processor-3M-cache-2_40-GHz?q=%20i5-450M

So, my recommendation would be for you to buy a module of memory 4 GB DDR3 PC3 - 10600 (1333 MHz).

Thus, even the 1333 MHz chip will only work at 1066 MHz.

I had a lot of success with this configuration of brand and the memory chip.

Regardless of the brand you download, make sure he's 8 the little black chips of memory on each side of the Board, not 4.

  • Need info on RAM for a TECRA 8000

I'm looking for a bit of RAM for my old laptop Tecra 8000 PII 300 model n PAT800E-B94A-GR.

Can I use 256 MB or larger? What is important to look for? I have no much experience in computer hardware.

    Who has an idea?

Thx for all the help of the Germany Thomas

    Hello

I found some interesting info on this good old classic. Your Tecra can handle with max 256 MB of RAM. Tecra 8000 has two memory slots, and you can use two 128 MB modules.

Module 128 MB compatible is with PA2062U part number.

I'm looking to get more RAM for my HP Pavillion G7. I searched spare parts with the number of my product (A7A46UA) and noted that the replacement part would be

It's actually a very specialized type of memory called DDR3L low voltage (1.35 volts).

  • Upgrading RAM for the ancient system XPS R450

This has probably been asked and answered before, but I'm having a hard time finding all the information I need in one place.

Through my church, I volunteer teach computer skills and doing my best to upgrade the equipment for people who cannot afford a new system.

    Here's what I'm faced with:

    Dell Dimension XPS R450

    WIN XP Pro version 2002

    IIP/448 MHz

    384 MB OF RAM

15.7 hard drive NTFS of G

I want to update their RAM wherever possible, but continue to see conflicting views on how high I can go.

In addition, according to my research, I conclude this must SDRAM - i.e. cannot use the DDR I have sitting around - and correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the DIMM form factor required match sticks?  Don't have not cracked the box still - does anyone know how many slots I could watch?

Bottom line - what is the absolute MAX RAM?

I know than most - including me - would say trash box and buy something of the modern era.  But they are very poor people who are lucky to have a PC at all, and that's what I have to work with.

All the tips are greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

You are right. Your laptop model can be improved up to 16 GB and you can use the modules of memory 2 x 8 GB with PA5104U-1M8G part number. According to mobile information a slot must be empty, you can add the second 8 GB of RAM.

  • Question about upgrading RAM for a Satellite A110-133

The following ram would work on the laptop mentioned above?

    Kingston KVR533D2S4 / 2 G 2048 mb so-dimm, 200 pin

    Thank you.
    Any input would be appreciated

    Hello

This page might be useful for you:
    http://www.orcalogic.co.UK/ASP/ProdType.asp?ProdType=24868&ft=m&St=3

    You need DDR2 533 MHz (PC2-4200) 200 - PIN SODIMM barrettes.

But I doubt that the Kingston KVR533D2S4 / 2G 2048 mb would be fine because the A110 can be upgraded up to 2 GB, and in this case, you can only use 2 x 1 GB RAM modules
