• NEITHER USB-232/4 works incorrectly with HP Quad CORE and XP SP3 and PPP

  I replaced my dual core PC with XP SP3 with a QuadCORE HP XP SP3.

  After that my NI USB 232/4 does not work with the PPP more.

  Do this with COM1 of the HP works.

  Solution: I replaced the NiSerial with Version 3.3 3.4 pilot.

• Problem with USB-232

  OK - this is probably a simple question, but it is at the origin of the questions that I do not know how to solve.  I am running LV 2013 on a 64-bit Windows 8 machine and I can't get the computer to identify a device USB-232 of NOR.  I'm under 4.0 Serial, VISA 5.4.  When I connect the USB-232 cable, a new entry in MAX peripheral slot and Interfaces called 'NOR USB' peripheral initialization.  I have no idea what it is or if there is something that I'm supposed to do with it.  Anyone have any ideas.  Everything would be welcome.

  As I said, I would recommend a reinstall of the NOR-Serial. I think this is the real driver that makes appears as a com port in windows.

• USB-232/4 causes Windows hang when wake from sleep

  I have a problem of resumption of the functioning of the laptop that follows "sleep" or "hibernate".

  With the connected USB-232/4, the computer does not return the Windows normally.  The display does not return (without backlight or external video output), but the LED indicators (bluetooth, disc, power, etc.) appear normal.  When I remove the USB from the USB-232/4, the display reverts immediately to the State before the mode 'sleep' activated.  Tried all 3 USB ports - all the same behavior.  No index by using the event viewer.

  Win 7 (64 bit)

  Series NI 3.7, NEITHER VISA NOR spy 2.7.2 5.0.2 MAX 4.8

  Serial port assignments seem to be OK:

  Port 1 - com15

  2 port - com9

  Port 3 - com16

  Port 4 - com8

  Any suggestions on the next steps to solve this problem?

  Solved the problem!

  The BIOS has a setting in the section advanced to Wake Up capability.  Compatible USB S3 Wake.  Now, the USB-232/4 is powered over the recovery of the standby mode.  When this feature is disabled, the USB-232/4 light not upon resuming from sleep mode and probably hung up the pilot, preventing a normal recovery.

  I use an NI USB-232/2 interface to connect my OMEGA Engineering temperature controller to computer. The thermostat communicates with the computer via hypertermianl and the configuration of the OMEGA software, but can not be detected by OR MAX I've attached a screenshot of my MAX of NOR. I could see the two COM ports, but I can't see the VISA test Panel.

  My problem is similar to the post problem OR USB-232! I tried the solution for uninstall and reinstall NI VISA both NI Serial, but still does not.

  OR Labview 2009

  NEITHER version 4.0 Serial

  Version NOR VISA 5.4.1

  Temperature controller: Omega Engineering CNi1644-c24

  I use a converter OR USB-232 on 64-bit Windows 7 Prof. Windows 7 says that device works well but MAX does not identify it. In MAX, I see "manufacturer Unknow Unknow model".

  I already installed the NI VISA full 5.0.1 pack and use the driver VISA Wizard.

  What can I do?

  I have already installed it. I have please contact Support, and they found that my problem comes from seven. I got a way to uninstall the old drivers on Windows 7 and now it's OK.

• Meaning of the States LED tricolor on device USB-232

  It's more curiosity, rather than a problem.  I noticed that the devices USB-232/4 most recently bought that we have received seem to now have the status of Panel before LED that show * 3 * States (4 If you include "LED off"!) - yellow, green and Red now.

  I have not found anything whether in literature online to describe something as mundane as what led.  I always assumed that yellow and green are the indicators of mark/space.  Sometimes now they light up briefly in red, but I have not found to correlate to any abnormal operation.

  What is happening with this?

  The latest driver I could find was 1.8.1.

  Error message:

  I would use this hardware with Final Cut ProX 10.2.2 and Garageband 10.1.0.1

  A quick search seems to indicate the latest version of the driver to be 1.2.1 - there was no 1.8.1 I could find. It has been out for more than a year, so no mention of El Capitan, but it could work. I'll make sure that you have the right to download and try again.

  It is technically possible, but please note that USB-6501 as only software clocked e/s digital (e/s static). In other words the duty cycle of the PWM periodocity Ant you want to generate will be determined by a loop software, so depending on your system and the USB bus. I think that you will not be able to get a better rate of loop (ability to change the State of a digital line) less than some milliseconds (depending on the system).

  By example, if the loop runs at 5ms, and I want 10 steps in my PWM, this means the period will be 50ms, therefore a 20 Hz base frequency. If you can't reach 1ms, you will get 100 Hz. If you want more than 10 duty cycle value, you reduce the frequency.

  And it is NOT stable (loop software 5ms, first delta 5.8ms, then 4.9ms, 5.1ms, 6.7ms, and so on), because it is based on the software. If you need something stable and faster, choose a device with hardware synchronizing.

  I have an application that requires LabVIEW control of 19 instruments that communicate via RS - 232.

  I have read the Datasheet for the NI USB-232/4, and I see no benefit of spending $528 for this unit (five times) on a standard USB to Serial hub for half the price.

  Can someone tell me if there is an advantage for the NI USB-232/4 or if they have had experince with one?

  This device offers 4 independent serial ports.  Each will have its own COM port to access since.  So you can use it to communicate with up to 4 devices.

  With regard to the follow-up between two other devices, you will need a special cable to access the RX on either side of the communication signal and their son up to 2 ports series different on your computer, as with the USB-232/4.

• NEITHER USB-6008 connect to thermocuples and pressure sensors, control valve

  I am endevoring to build a gasification plant biomass for bench scale test process control plans. NEITHER USB-6008/6009 will be adapted for use as a data acquisition. I'll take RTDS, thermocouples and pressure sensors. I don't want to use industrial automation controllers.  It is also possible to use the channel of analog output for sending signals to a control valve position (using sufficient current/voltage between the two drivers).

  (1) OK.  I just wanted to be sure that you were aware of the potential dangers.

  (2) an RTD is a resistance that has small changes in resistance per degree of temperature change. To measure that you have need of a current source and a sufficient resolution in order to detect small changes.  At 25 degrees C a typical RTD is 109,73 ohms and resistance ohms 0.38 per degree changes.  If you had 1 my crossing this RTD voltage through it would be 109,7 mV and the voltage change of 0.38 mV by degree.

  The resolution of the 6008 on the most sensitive range is 0.49 mV > 1 degree.  The accuracy of the 6008 is 1.5 mV typical.

  For a Type K thermocouple, voltage at 25 degrees is 1.407 mV and change by degree is 39 µV.  Millivolt solving half of the 6008 translates into about 12 degrees.

  If you need a source of excitement for RTD and a kind of amplification for thermocouples and RTD before she would make any sense to try to use USB-6008.

  (3) I have not used anything except LabVIEW with DAQ devices and drivers.  I think DAQmx can be used with MATLAB and other languages.

  (4) the 6008 is the low range made by NOR. You will need to go to a more expensive camera or add signals conditioning circuits.  Talk to your representative OR assistance in the choice of a suitable device.

  I looked for a solution for a while now. According to Web sites OR the NI USB-9162 is compatible with LabView 2012. I installed the last DAQmx. My hardware has been detected and is sensitive to MAX and works very well in LabView Signal Express. But it is not detected in LabView 2012. I searched the forum and not found any solution other then all uninstallation and reinstallation of any. It is quite conssuming time and would rather avoid if possible. Anyone have a solution? I wish I could appreciate.

  I am trying to program a USB-6008 on a mac. When I connect to the input to analog 5V output I get a reading of 3.67volts, while on an osscilascope, I read a 5volts voltage. Is this normal? Need to load resistors? Also, I get the same effect with the release of tensions for the analog output.

  Thanks for your post. The pins are you connect together on your device? Depending on the type of connection you have the wiring may not be quite right.

• SD5010 DVD Player USB Toshiba problem

  I recently bought this DVD player, when I play a movie through my USB always, it stops before the end of the film and cuts back to the main menu. Does anyone know why this might be happening? I tried resetting the DVD player and that didn't work. I deleted a few movies on the stick, and that did not work.

  What is the USB itself? It's a 16 GB.

  Theoretically, it could be a problem of USB if strongly recommend to test this using an another sticks too.
