Network for the hypervisor setting option?

I need some documents, videos, forums, etc...  This explains the features of networking & routing for vSphere 4.1 hypervisor.

I'm not sure it will work for my configuration.

I have 1 hypervisor behind 1 router with 1 static IP address and I need to know if I can run several servers that have the same port as my hypervisor requirements.

How does with some type of NAT or virtual networks?

Thanks in advance.

You have all you need to deploy such an environment:

-Connect your physical host (ESX(I)) to your network/s switch.

-Your default ESX installation should create a switch virtual vSwitch0

-Create virtual machines and install / configure the guest operating system. (it will be connected to your vswitch)

Thus, each virtual machine will have his IP address and your hypervisor will also have another IP.

Port forwarding/filtering is done as for the physical servers, simply enter the IP VMs (local) and the port that you want to allow/filter.

  • Is it safe to use Safe Mod with networking for the use of the computer every day?

Hi, my computer has problems to start normally and I was wondering, is it safe to use Safe Mod with networking for the use of the computer every day? I use the computer like 10 hours + every day. Is this correct and safe? Thank you

    Hello, Winston,

It is actually for troubleshooting only.

Networking Mode safe mode starts Windows in mode safe mode and includes the network drivers and services needed to access the Internet or other computers on your network.

Some applications may not work properly or not at all if you use safe mode with networking for everyday computing.

Wireless network adapter may not work when you use the Option "Safe Mode with network.

Safe mode disables most of the processes and services running. These services include the Windows Update service. »

  • remote control for the hypervisor?  How?

Excuse my ignorance, this is my first virtual and I hit a roadblock.  I managed to install free vsphere on my server and created a virtual machine with microsoft server 2008 on it.  I can connect to the hypervisor in-house with vSphere client fine but not outwardly, I searched the internet and forums, trying to figure out how to connect to the hypervisor outside the network but have found nothing... I mean nothing...

That's what I try to do

    1. install the Vsphere server to my clients on their existing network and can remote directly on hypervisor from the outside, I think that there is a port that uses hypervisor that I can simply set up a rule on my firewall, but I found no info.

    2. I would like to know how to set up remote access directly to the virtual machines from the outside.  That's what I found ( http://geekswithblogs.net/NewThingsILearned/archive/2009/11/13/connect-to-vmware-virtual-machines-using-remote-desktop.aspx ), but it applies that VMware server is there a way to do it with vSphere

Thanks for helping a newbie!   also I chose vmware on hyper v so that should give you want to help me more... haha...

Just use a VPN connection to the remote location if you do not want a machine of internal management. It is not an ideal way to manage. It is much slower and much less reactive.

  • I can't find the Fox for the custom personas option menu.

I want to wear my own character customized to my firefox browser, nut, I just can't find the Fox that they speak. Quote:

"Option 1: Test on your own computer.

In the Personas menu in the bottom left of the status bar of the browser, you can activate a Persona "offline" on your personal computer by enabling a setting in preferences. In doing so, you can test your Personas before submitting them to the online catalogue.

Follow these four steps to get the Custom Personas option up and running in your browser:

      1. If you have Personas installed, click on the little fox on the bottom left of your computer screen and click on "Preferences"
      2. Ensure the box "Show Custom Persona in Menu" is checked and close the box.
      3. Click on the little fox again. Mouse over "Custom" in the menu and to the right find and click "Edit"
      4. Build your Persona using the upload fields and additional settings." I can't find the fox. I have tried options and prefrences, but neither work. HELP!

You have the add-on Personas Plus installed? The icon is added by this add-on.

This add-on adds an icon to the fox for the left side of the status bar, or you can access it using the entrance of Personas on the Tools menu.

  • No preference for the report answers option to display all of the results?

    Hello

It is the specific question OBIEE. I write for the first time. So kindly direct me to the correct forum if this isn't the one.

If an answers report is likely to produce > 25 lines or so, it throws an arrow with a star inside icon for all results.
y at - it a preference to set the report of responses to fetch all reports?

This is particularly useful when we add reports to dashboard and information books. We want all data in some cases.

Sure no problem. In the Table view, click the properties button next to the icon of sigma. The second option says: lines per Page. The value as the desired amount of lines. Click on 'OK '. That should do it.

  • Photosmart 5520 lies on the network for the first minutes

Hello.  I bought a Photosmart 5520 in November last year.  It was working fine until the scanner no longer works last week.  Still under warranty and after checking, it was a hardware failure, HP sent a replacement printer.

Now try to put in place as I had with the previous (who worked with no problem), it seems to play up.  When I start by putting, it connects to my wireless network.  And, throughout all the time, he thinks that it is connected, showing the correct in its window IP address when asked.

However, each computer attempts to connect to it can initially.  Then, after 3-4 minutes, we get the unavailable destination host.  I get this regardless of how networking is configured (static or dynamic IP addresses).

For example, when I start the printer first, I can ping the machine no worries

    C:\Users\Ed>ping 192.168.1.9

192.168.1.9 ping with 32 bytes of data :
    192.168.1.9 response: bytes = 32 time = 2ms TTL = 255
    192.168.1.9 response: bytes = 32 time = 2ms TTL = 255
    192.168.1.9 response: bytes = 32 time = 2ms TTL = 255
    192.168.1.9 response: bytes = 32 time = 2ms TTL = 255

    Ping statistics for 192.168.1.9:
    Packets: Sent = 4, received = 4, lost = 0 (0% loss),
Time approximate round trip in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 2ms, Maximum = 2ms, average = 2ms

And I can access the printer from my browser.  But, wait a few minutes, do nothing, and then ping fails

    C:\Users\Ed>ping 192.168.1.9

192.168.1.9 ping with 32 bytes of data :
Reply from 192.168.1.10: Destination unreachable host.
Reply from 192.168.1.10: Destination unreachable host.
Reply from 192.168.1.10: Destination unreachable host.
Reply from 192.168.1.10: Destination unreachable host.

    Ping statistics for 192.168.1.9:
    Packets: Sent = 4, received = 4, lost = 0 (0% loss),

Note that the ip address assigned to the machine (and what is displayed across on the screen of the printer) is 192.168.1.9.  Ping still displays a reply from 192.168.1.10 (which is actually the IP address of the computer, I connected to via the USB connection).

I did the normal stuff to turn off the router for 30 seconds, and it makes no difference.  What can I do to keep this work properly?

    Thanks for any help.

Hello Nicolas and welcome on the HP forums!

I see you have a Photosmart 5520 which has been recently replaced for a hardware problem and now the replacement seems to have problems with your wireless network. I'm sorry to hear that, but I'll certainly do my best to help

Because the first printer did not have the same issues, it would be reasonable to assume that this printer is just being meddlesome, (most of the time, anyway ) with which I ask, have you tried to restore default network settings and then reconnect the printer to the wireless network? Otherwise, to restore the default settings of network on the printer the wrench on the top touch right, touch wireless and then scroll down to network by default. Once that is done, try to reconnect the printer to the network and see if it does the same thing.

If this does not change the behavior of printers on the wireless network, please make sure that it is get the latest Firmware and updates.

If that isn't also solve the problem, we will have to try a reset of the printer. If the first two suggestions don't help, please read this privacy statement for HP and I will reply with a reset of your forums Inbox.

  • Partitions on SSD for the hypervisor host of vSphere5 (Free Edition)

    Hello

This will be my first installation of a system of 5 hypervisor vSphere (Free Edition). My new PC will contain an SSD (120GB) for the vSphere host and VMs. in addition, it will contain a RAID controller with multiple SATA drives for data. My questions are:

Do I have to create partitions on the SSD drive for installing vSphere 5?

    I read on http://vmetc.com/2009/07/22/best-practices-for-vsphere-esx-4-service-console-partitions/

There is several necessary partiotions. Is the installation program automatically creates those partitions?

Is it possible to store the computer virtual (System of each operating system partition) on this SSD also?

    I will store VMs for 2 x Windows7 (approximately 2x30GB), 1 x FreeNAS, 1 x Linux for Zarafa, 1 x Linux for many other services.

    Kind regards

    Oliver

Hello and welcome to the forums.

Do I have to create partitions on the SSD drive for installing vSphere 5?

No, the installation program will take care of everything for you.

Is it possible to store the computer virtual (System of each operating system partition) on this SSD also?

Yes, the installer will create a VMFS on the SSD volume where you can place these files.

    Good luck!

  • Is there a correct configuration of network for the ESX host computers

Have a VC server and 2 ESX 3.5 hosts. Each host is filled with 6 cards.

    Three VLANs are created:

The VM network for traffic Server

    Vmotion: for Vmotion traffic

    Management VLan: For traffic management

The network adapters on each host have been assigned as follows:

2 network cards - the VM network

    2 NICs - Vmotion & Service Console

2 NICs - ? How can I use them for? Service console?

    What I am doing wrong?

Yes, #3 is required for vmotion vmkernel type. Then that VLAN allows them to route in the end, it is not necessary for them to communicate. and Yes, SC is the management network

  • Station for the interaction Mode option

Is it possible to programmatically change the option "run the Setup and cleanup for Interactive performance?

It is advisable to change the cfg\testExec.ini and deploy the custom file or change the station by programming option?

    Hi Lvrat,

You can change the Run Setup and cleaning for option Interactive execution through the mask of execution in the API of the engine.

Here is an example of the logic that you could use:

    RunState.Engine.StationOptions.ExecutionMask = RunState.Engine.StationOptions.ExecutionMask and not 0x2000

If you right-click on the ExecutionMask within TestStand and select TestStand API Help, then ExecutionMask (the first link) then you will be sent to one of the ExecutionMask constants, all of which have different values.  By selecting the value of the interactive parameter Run Setup and cleanup, you can toggle this on / off power without affecting other options.
