New hard drive (301, 3F0 Messages)

I recently bought a HGST 1 TB hard drive (2.5-inch, 7200 RPM) upgrade for my G6-2218NR Pavilion (8 64-bit Windows). My problem is that, from the start of my laptop, I got the message;

"SMART disk error."
INTELLIGENT drive control hard to detected an imminent failure... etc."

I'm the given code 301 and the option of F2 for System Diagnostics, as well as "to continue booting.

If I select keep booting I get the following message 3F0

"Boot Device not found.
Please install an operating system on your hard drive. »

If I select F2 I can run the memory Test and the check of the hard drive. I get a SUCCESS message after you run the memory test, but try to run check the hard drive, I get the message, "SMART Check: NOT AVAILABLE." "DST short: caveat."

Also, despite are not I can also access the utility of configuration with F10.

So, Ive got a few questions. First of all, is it possible for my new drive hard be DOA? Second, if it is not, how to re - install Windows 8? And finally, it would be prudent to put back the original hard drive in the laptop, until I have a solution?

YES, it's quite possible for a new disk in DOA. Download the diagnosis of HGST drive and create a bootable CD. Reinstall the 'new' hard drive and test it with the diagnostic CD. If it fails, return the disc to another.

If you have not already created it your personal set of HP or an HP Recovery USB Flash Drive Recovery discs, please return the original to the computer hard drive. Then create the support of HP recovery for your computer.

You will need to use the HP recovery support to return the computer to a factory state after installing a new disk.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

  • After using Norton Ghost to clone new HARD drive, get the message «This is not a real Windows 7»

Hi, I used Norton ghost 15 clone my old original (750 GB) to a new HDD (1 TB) hard disk, all seemed well, start in windows 7 from screen, but when he arrived at the office, there was a line saying "this is not a genuine copy of windows 7" and nothing shown on the desktop but a light blue background. I have my Win 7 DVD, but there is no way to indicate to the system on my product key.  I'm stuck on a blue screen.

After seeing another suggestion to use MGAdiag, I created a new boot disk and it linked the diag.  The output is cryptic, so I guess that I have validated only my new installation and there is no obvious way to point to the other disk.  But the output is lower.

the only thing that your report shows is the WAT update is not installed, and it is not enabled. (you are in your grace. initial period to 28 days rest).
a non-genuine windows will work almost normally and would not lead to the symptoms you describe. In my view, the notice is by other problems that you have.

    Hello

strange that you can request that

HP computers have been known to not let you install Vista on a non HP bought replacement hard drive

There were a few posters with this problem here

If the OEM disc for this particular laptop, you should be able to reinstall it as many times as you want as long as you have not changed the main material (the motherboard)

You can change the hard drives, RAM, etc.

I presume that you boot from the Vista DVD

  • New hard drive for HP Pavilion dv6 drive because of error messages 303 and 305

    Hello

My laptop was getting slower and slower, so I did a restore default via the recovery partition, and when it restarts to start reformat and reinstall back to factory condition, I got a message on the screen telling me to run the hard drive test. Did it and got error 303 and 305 messages. Restore to preset works however, after doing research in the error codes I go account, I'm for a new hard drive.

My laptop is a HP Pavilion dvd6-3203TU with WIndows 7 Home Premium installed. It currently has a disk 320 GB TOSHIBA MK3265GSXX HDD in it.

After reading the forums, I am pleased to see that my recovery disks will be reinstalling everything on a new hard drive and partition a C: drive and also the recovery partition. The main issue I have is my new drive hard must it be 320 GB in size as the original or to buy something like a disk 500 GB + for the laptop. If I have to replace the hard drive that I can as will increase size while, if possible i.e..

It must also be a Toshiba or I can buy another brand?

Eager to help regarding this I thank you in advance as

    Hello

Your laptop is listed as coming with a 320 GB hard drive, but you can install just as easily a 500 GB or 750 GB HARD drive if you want more space - readers at the following links are examples that would be perfect for your laptop - you are in no way limited to a particular manufacturer.

    Hard drive 500 GB

    750 GB hard drive.

The procedure to replace the hard drive begins on Page 65 of your & Maintenance Guide.

  • reinstalling the system on a new hard drive

Looks like a common problem that the original HDD Samsung die a premature death. I started to receive warnings of 301 SMART several months ago, but my HP dv6 kept operating normally until this week. Now it does not start, then it's time for a new HARD disk. I thought I was fully prepared, as I had spared him all my work on an external drive, had a new beautiful drive HARD fast to install and had my hand recovery disks. After you run the recovery discs, I'm stuck. New HARD drive does not start, and I can't do what whether the HP Recovery console offers me on its menu. Windows recovery is also stuck as there is no previous image recorded on this new album.

Looking at the new HARD drive, I see that the HP recovery disks were formatted only 60 GB, sort of a mini recovery partition and nothing else. When I try to restore the image, him refuses to HP recovery with the message Console, this drive is smaller than the original.

Can someone tell me how to work around this problem with recovery disks, or how I might just do a clean install of Windows 7 without having to buy a new installation disk purely and simply? HP does not provide a Windows disk with this computer.

    Hello

Recovery discs often have problems reinstalling the operating system if the new HARD drive is lower than installed when they were initially created.

Before you try the following, make sure that you can always read the activation code on your label Windows COA (5 blocks of 5 alphanumeric games).

Assuming that it's just a problem with the recovery process, it is a job before right around if you have (or can borrow) a Windows 7 retail installation disc is exactly the same version as your OEM installation - IE if your laptop comes with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, it comes to version exact commercial that you would need.

If you don't have access to a retail disk, you can create an installation disk yourself using another PC - just download the good Disk Image from the link below and use an app like ImgBurn to burn the ISO correctly on a blank DVD - a guide on the use of ImgBurn to write an ISO on a disc is here.  These Images are clean and a well respected source, however there are only limited versions available.

    Windows 7 sp1-iso-official-32-bit-and-64-bit

Use the disk to perform the installation, enter the activation key of Windows on the label of the COA at the request and once the installation is complete, use ' 'phone Method' described in detail in the link below to activate the operating system -this made method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who want to just have a new installation of Windows 7 without additional software load normally comes with OEM installations.

Additional drivers, you may need to find from here.

  • HP Pavilion p6 2000-ukm: recovery disk/boot on a new HARD drive?

    Hello

I have a hp Pavilion p6 2000 ukm. Recently I started getting on my HARD drive error messages, saying it was a failure. I recently bought a new HDD in my pc. I connected it correctly and it says that I need recovery disk / boot disk.

To my knowledge when I bought this pc there was no disk Windows 7. Now I know on workstations, you create your own.

My question is... How to get windows 7 installed on my new hard drive when I plug it in? I'm looking for the iso of windows 7, I think that his name, but I can't find any .iso file.  I'm trying to install windows 7 on my new drive HARD I need not my other files like music... etc. I'm looking to get my HARD drive installed with windows 7, where it has IE and I can go back to the installation of everything I had previously. Should u use "create a system image"? Its a big file and requires 7 + dvd discs is my only option? I have my 25 key windows 7 as well.

  • Satellite T130 - stuck on the loading screen - new hard drive required

After a message on the screen saying back up your hard drive, it will fail quickly and pressing F1 it seems so stuck on the loading screen. I'm not too good with computers. I just have to buy a new hard drive to get the laptop working again, or is much more complicated than that. My guess is this one.

Thanks in advance for any help provided

The first question is: did you create recovery media (USB key)?
If do not do this if for a long time your HARD drive works OK. original recovery image is saved on the HARD drive, but you must have it USB backup that you can use to install if the disk needs to be replaced.
Do it as soon as possible. More info on what you can read in s operating manuals.

What to do with the HARD drive? In my opinion if long as it works it has no reason to panic. Use your laptop as usual. If you notice some performance or more error messages problems I think that you should replace it.

Replacing the HARD drive doesn't have to be so problematic. HARD drive cover must be placed in the lower corner of your laptop. The smallest is RAM and cotyledon should be for the HARD drive. Check it out.

Before do you that this is remove the battery and unplug your computer laptop AC adapter / CC.

If you have no experience with such things please don't made some risky step. You can damage something.

Hard drive of my Satellite Pro A300 failed. It has now been replaced. I ordered a recovery disk.
This will allow me to reinstall Windows Vista OS that is installed initially?

Also, I get this message "BOOTMGR MISSING". The recovery disc will fix this problem too?

    Yes. Without a doubt.

New HARD drive is recognized correctly in the BIOS settings?
    If so avoid any problem.

Moreover, A300 works perfectly and much better with Win7 32 bit.
