NI9217 + CompactRio to measure two sons RTD resistance thermometer

I have 4 two sons PT1000 RTD. How can I use NI9217 with the cRio-9024 to measure the temperature?

I followed the link below, but I do not know where to put the module in mode 3-wire. Right now I'm getting + -1200 C, which must be wrong. And RTD0-3 are now available, but I need to use all of the 12 stations to measure RTD 4. I would appreciate any idea and help. Thank you in advance. I have attached two screenshots, which displays the property page for NI9217, and only 4 devices can be used in each NI9217.

Well, the unit has a range of 0-400 Ohms (she waits a RTD 100ohm) so throw a PT1000 in the system certainly will give him a max value output throughout the day temperature.

  • CanI set programmatically PXI-8431 half duplex ports (two sons)?

    Hello

I use an NI PXI-8431/8 RS485 card for half duplex comms. I use configuration of the serial port baud rate usual VISA, etc., but I also want to set the port to two sons, no handshake.

Currently I can do this from Windows, using the Device Manager, but it depends on someone who knows and not to forget to do. I want to automate so that it still occupies my entry into force, without worrying about who used it do.

Can anyone suggest how I can achieve this?

    Thank you

    Hi Malcolm,

You can set the thread mode and the type of control (handshaking) flow in LabVIEW using nodes of property.

The article in the link below shows how to do this at the end to set the thread mode. If you duplicate the property node, you can choose Flow Control as property instead of the thread Mode.

  • RS485 auto map two sons may not work

I use the PXI8431 card for RS485 communication: here has an another usb to RS - 485 (not OR card), and I put the card two 485 both two-wire mode, (for pxi8431, I put two wireless auto mode, and I've shortened the PIN 4 and PIN 8, pin 5 and PIN 9), then the card usb send message to map pxi and pxi card cannot receive anything However, the send message card pxi to usb card, the usb card can receive the correct message. What is more, I put the DTR (pxi card) activate and then set the unenable DB, then the pxi card can receive the correct message sent by usb card, but at the same time, the pxi card cannot send messages. then I put the option activate the DTR and the pxi card can send message, because that card usb the correct message. However for now, pxi cannot receive the message. I read the help document OR if I put the "two sons DTR Control" mode, then the result that I have described above is very correct, but now I'm sure I chose the "auto mode of two sons. I don't know why? It seems that auto two-wire mode does not work! I have change the pxi card to a new location, but the same result. For the four-wire mode, I have test and the result is very correct.

If you set the mode of wire through MAX, you should switch to 3.6 OR Serial. An issue has been fixed that caused the default mode of wire is ignored when opening the port. If you don't want to upgrade, you must programmatically set the mode thread of your application.

  • LabVIEW measures two loops (cycle of Charge and discharge) of writing to a file

    Hey,.

I was wondering if it is possible to write measures Labview two loops (stacked sequence Structure) in a single file. Currently, he prepares the loading of data in a single file and discharge data in a single file. I have to every time the data for the chart of the charge and discharge cycles combine and sometimes there are about 50 cycles and by copying and pasting is time consuming.

I'll try to upload my vi a little

    Hi basketball.

I thought you loops run in parallel. In your case, you can simply use the same path for your files. Change the option to 'apend to the file. After these changes, the two loops must write to the same file.

  • Single instance with two sons to redo

    Hallo,

I have a 10.2.0.4 single Instance with 2 threads again by following query shows:

Select thread #, status, active, groups of wire $ v

    THREAD # STATUS ACTIVE GROUPS
    1 PUBLIC OPEN 3
    CLOSED 2 3 PUBLIC

That's because it's disk-synchronized with a RAC database, so I can not get a wire 2. (For example need recovery at startup)

In any case, I noticed that the Thread 2 Redo Logs switch once all TWO Redo Log Thread 1 switch and without
journal entry of alerts on the log command, instead of switching with Redo Logs in 1 thread.
In other words, as archiving is, thread of Redo log 2 get archived twice as long.

    Is this expected behavior?

    Thank you!!!

In the CCR, if a thread is more active than the other and switches logs frequently, it will force also a switch of newspaper to the other thread sometimes to make sure the second thread does not lag behind . This is to ensure that the repeat of the second thread also gets archived on.

    Imagine what would happen if:
    a. thread 1 is 100 000 transactions on 9 switches Journal (SEQ #101 à 109), using 3 groups
    b. thread 2 does 1 single operation without switch (still stuck in SEQ #99) unique newspaper (at some time where 1 wire was active in the #102 SEQ) and do not archive

Restore database and recovery or a database of aid would put an end to the Seq 2 wire #99 (approx. Seq # 101 Thread 1). Cannot apply 90 000 + transactions in SEQ # 102 to 109 because Oracle does not have time to order operations, if missing redo thread 2.

To avoid such a situation, 1 wire would be periodically (about every 2-3 switches, if there are 3 groups) force an automatic switch redo log groups of 2 wire to make sure that they get archived on!

  • Ethernet affecting measurements on compactRio stand-alone

    Hi all

I have CompactRio cRio-9024 with Modules 9205 and 9217. CompactRio runs independently, without connection to a PC.

I have a RTD resistance thermometer, it's a PT1000 2 son. 9217 does not support 2-wire RTD, so I use 9217 as a current source and use jumpers to NI9205 to measure the voltage on the cables, so calculate the resistance of the sensor. (Resistance = voltage 9205 / constant current of 1mA 9217)

In addition to the RTD, I have also other devices connected to NI9205, what differential voltage is recorded measurred. Everything works well before PT1000 is connected.

The problem is, somehow the Ethernet affects all measures on the NI 9205 module. When Ethernet is connected to the PC (PC does not need to be turned on, simply connected), everything would work fine. When Ethernet is not connected, all the tension would be down and even go to negatives. I don't understand how it could be possible, that Ethernet could affect the system.

Any ideas? Maybe there is another way to measure the 2 wires PT1000 or how could remove the Bug of Ethernet?

    Thank you all in advance!

    Best regards

I would check for a ground problem. Sounds like your ethernet cable will carry a field, which isn't good. The cRIO otherwise is somehow?

  • How can I use two counters simultaneously to pulse width measurment

    Hello, everyone!

I'm new to Labview. I currently have some cDAQ9171 and width measurment with 9401 impulses. My understanding is that the 9401 was 4 meters, which means that I can use these meter separately. However I have the following problem.

    1. I use ctr 0 and ctr 1 (PFI 1 and PFI5) to measure two different impulses. However, it seems that there is an interference between two counters. How can I make two counters working simultaneously and separately?

    2. I first try a pulse width measurment counter in Labview signalExpress. My pulse width is about 0.4ms. However, I can't get the right result, if I choose the starting edge is on the rise (the results always around 20ns. Only if I revise my pulse and pick the starting edge is down, I can get reliable results.

I'm confused about these issues for about 3 weeks... Is there someone can help what can I do with that?

I have attached a simple vi...

    Thank you very much!

  • Align the two signals and measure the Phase Shift

    Hello

I do an experiment in which I use the NI USB-6221 DAQ card. The jury is able to make 250 k samples/second. I want to measure two voltages in a circuit and find the phase shift between them at frequencies between 1 and 10000. First I ouputted a wave sinusoidal frequency variable through the Commission and applied to a test circuit. Then I used the Board to measure the two tensions consecutively (thus reducing the maximum sampling frequency at 125 k). I used the signals align VI and measured the two phases and then calculates the phase shift (VI attached in Phase 1). It worked well for the test circuit I built in which the phase shift went way logarithmique.20 degrees ~84.5 degrees and then stabilized. At frequencies above 5 000 Hz phase shift must have remained constant, but it varies more or less 1 degree. When the phase shift is 84.5 degrees, present a degree of variability is not particularly explicit. When I asked my program on the circuit that I really wanted to measure, the phase shift went from-. 5 degrees up to about 1.2 degrees. The change in the values of phase shift at high frequencies (> 3000) was environ.2 degrees. Given the small phase shift, this variation is unacceptable. Now I tried to use a sequence to each blood individually (increase the maximum sampling frequency to 250 k) and then align the two signals and measure the phase of each shift. When I use align it and re - sample Express VI to realign the two signals, I get the message "error 20333 analysis: cannot align two waveforms with dt even if their samples are not clocked in phase." Is it possible to align two signals I describe here? I enclose the new VI as Phase 2

    Matthew,

I think I have an idea for at least part of the problem.

I took your program data and deleted stuff DAQ.  I have converted the Signal on the chart control and looked then what was going on with the signal analysis.

The output of the Waveforms.vi line has two waveforms, like the entry.  However, arrays of Y in the two waveforms are empty!  It does not generate an error. After some head scratching, reading the help files and try things out, that's what I think is happening: the time t0 two input signals are 1,031 seconds apart. Since the wavefoms contains 1,000 seconds of data, there is no overlap and may not align them.

I changed the t0 on two waveforms are the same, and it lines up.  The number of items in the tables is reduced by one. Then I increased the t0 of 0.1 seconds on the first element. The output had both greater than the entry by dt t0 t0 and the size of the arrays was 224998.  Reversing the t0 two elements shifts the phase in the opposite direction.

What that tells me, is that you can not reliably align two waveforms which do not overlap.

I suggest that you go to 2-channel data acquisition and that it accept the reduced sample rate.  You won't get the resolution you want, but you should be able to tell if something important happens.

You may be able to improve the equivalent resolution by taking multiple steps with a slight phase shift. This is similar to the way that old oscilloscopes of sampling (analog) worked. Take a series of measures with the signal you are currently using.  The make enough average to minimize changes due to noise. Then pass the phase of the signal of excitement to an amount that is smaller than the resolution of phase of sampling rate and repeat the measurements.  Recall that I calculated that for a 5 kHz signal sampled at 125kHz, you get a sample every 14.4 degrees. If shift you the phase of 1 degree (to the point/mathematical simulation), you get a different set of samples for excitement.  They are always separated by 14.4 degrees.  Take another series of measures. Transfer phase another degree and repeat.  As long as your sampling clocks are stable enough so that frequency does not drift significantly (and it shouldn't with your equipment), you should be able to get near resolution of what you need.  The trade-off is that you need to perform more measurements and may need to keep track of the phase shifts between the various measures.

  • measure the temprature of thermistor using 6225

    Hello

I'm using LabVIEW 8.6/DAQmx with a DAQ card 6225 of series M, connected to a terminal block of CB_68LPR.  I want to measure the temperature of a thermistor.

First of all, I connect the two wires of the thermistor to AI6 (J25) and HAVE GND (J24) because I assigned AI0 to Ai5 to six voltage signals.

When I tried the example of temperature measurement, if I set up the channel as "2-Wire thermistor Iex" ai6 and choose the internal excitation source, I got the error message "measurements: device to which is attached the sensor was not a source of excitation internal avaible. But the requirement for this example indicates that the PXI-6225 can run the example. So here are my questions: is not my connection reflectometers to the terminal block? Which device should provide the excitation source, the map DAQ or other Terminal, if I really want to choose internal source?

Then I tried to use DAQ Assistant to configure the channel as "Vex 2-Wire thermistor" ai6, I received the error message "measurements: configuration 2 son resistance is not compatible with the excitement of tension", no matter if I choose 'Internal' or external"source of excitement." But in general configuration 2 son is good for thermistor. So my thermistor is not the type thermistor Vex? So, what type of thermistor is Vex thermistor? The technical details of my probe says nothing if it is Vex or type Iex.

    Thanks in advance,

    Caizhen

    Hello Caizhen

PCI-6225 doesnot have an internal excitation source, but you can use one of the AO as an excitation lines if you have not the external voltage source, in this case, you should always configure your task as external excitation and measures four sons and in the program, you can take care of task AO where you can specify what exciatation you need. The measure of two sons is not supported in Vex-thermistor task. The connection diagram is shown in Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX) in your task DAQmx.

Another possibility is to you can measure the resistance of the thermistor and map it to the temperature at two scales, but you will still need to have the excitement of current external OR-6225 has not built in power source, which is what he does in the task of Iex-thermistor.

    Keep us informed on updates.

  • Can I use a probe with my NI4461 to measure the 100vpp(permanent)?

    Hello

I use a NI4461 card with 2 inputs and 2 outputs. I have a signal generator with a signal of 125 Hz 100vpp(permanent) I want to characterize using labview (FFT, amplitude, etc.).

The limits of entry on the NI4461 being +/-42 .4V, I was hoping to use a X 10 probe, which is similar to a scope.

However I find this works do not correctly in the mitigation of the probe doesn't seem to be a constant 10 x. Although my reach (with a second probe) reads 100vpp(permanent), my NI4461 detect 82Vpp.

Am I missing something? Are there alternatives to read > 42.4 v reports on the 4461 with a probe?

I checked and exchanged probes and they both work find on the scope, but not on the 4461. Is there a special probe that has a match of good impedance for the 4461 you can recommend?

    Thank you

    Thanks for the suggestion.

I actually build an out two very large resistance voltage divider which seems to work fine.

The circuit is simple, two resistors in series connected to the ground at the same time on my main unit. By attaching the son of sense of tension on a single resistance I can divide the voltage in two (two resistors have the same index). I calibrated the system and it seems to work.

    Thank you for your suggestions.

  • CQI RTD sample.vi with simulation device

    Hi all

I am student on samples DAQ in labview 2009, I have no DAQ hardware, but I faked 9188 NI and NI 9214 (thermocouple). I want to run 'acq RDT sample.vi' devices with these simulated, but when I run the program it displays error "possible reasons: device to which is attached the sensor doesn't have a source of available internal excitement." Select another device with a source of available internal excitation or provide external excitement. ». However, in the web, it is said that NEITHER 9188 and NI 9214 are available for real-time measurements. What is the problem with that?

What Jacob said, is that the 9214 is not designed to work with the RTD sensors.  An RTD is a resistance that changes the value with temperature.  A thermocouple produces a voltage proportional to the difference in temperature between the junctions.  A measurement system for thermocouples need measure the voltage and often compensates for cold junction temperature.  A measurement system for RTD must measure the resistance which is generally to provide a current, and then measure the voltage drop.  The 9214 is not a supply for RTD current circuit.

The specificatioons for the 9214, it seems that it will work with the real time operating system.

  • Measures of constraints with the NI 9219

    Hi all

I join this forum and I need bit of advise on measurement of deformation using NI 9219 with lab view.

I followed the procedure and settings to configure a virtual channel to strain under global virtual channel of NI DAQ mx.

I need some clarification on strain gauge measures:

    1. If I use 1 quarter bridge configuration should I NI 9219 completion resistors?

2.i have ordered strain gauges, but I can imitate the calculations of strain with labview gauge using a variable resistor instead of active Gages? as I understand, it's strain gauges to change resistance when the force is applied.based on this notion if I use a variable resistor on one leg of wheatstone bridge and plot the data? all I want is to play with lab view until I get the real strain gauges. (will take a week to get deleivered)

    3. affecting the internal Vex I think that I will not need to apply any voltage to the terminals of the bridge as the strain of installation window.i would just need to connect to the ends of the stone bridge of wheat to the PIN number 3 and 5 in the comment of 9129.please OR who...

I have to really thank and appreciate all of you for taking the time and reading/commneting on my post.

    Kind regards

    Ali

    Hi Engr_tech,

9219 a resistance integrated half-bridge completion, but for quarter-bridge measures, it must rely on resistance measurements 2 son.  It does not support the measures of quarter 3-wire bridge.  I'm not familiar with the help of a variable resistor instead an active gauge so I can't comment on that.  Looks like your #3 idea would work, although I'm not 100% certain.  It will be unsupported, but it could work.

  • Satellite Pro 2100 two cables behind the screen

Hi, first post so be gentle with me please.

I have a Satellite Pro Satellite Pro 2100 and the hinges are shot, so I bought a 2100 piece to Exchange.
Everything was ok except that I have two sons that I can't find a place to plug in. A black white and they are attached to the small square gold Ribbons that are glued to each top corner at the back of the screen. The other ends have little, but when I stripped the laptop they were in bulk and I do not see where they are going.

However, the laptop works fine without them.
    Can anyone help please?

All laptops with WLAN have this. WLAN antenna is placed behind the screen and these two wires must be connected to the WLAN antenna.

If your laptop doesn't have WLAN card put just the cables aside and everything will be OK.

  • measurement of current with usb-6009

Hi, my name is hung and I am a student in electrical engineering... I'm doing a thesis that the project using Labview and acquisition of data NOR UBS-6009 to simulate the function generator, Oscilloscope, Digital Microsoft (DMM)... and now I'm simulating DMM. I managed to measure the voltage and resistance which i use voltage divider method, but I encountered a problem with the current measurement. The problem is the USB-6009 to measure use the current, it measures an incorrect value. I tried to use the current CQI 0-20mA Sample.vi example but it always measures an incorrect value. If NI USB-6009 supports for the measuring current? Is there a way to measure the currents using USB-6009? Please, help me. This thesis project is so important for me. Thank you.

    Hung,

Since you are a student in electrical engineering, I'll show you how to know the answers to your questions.

    1. review the specifications for the USB-6009 case.  In particular look at the specifications of analog input.

    2. How would you measure current if you had only a voltmeter?  Use the same method with the USB-6009 case.  (Tip: apply the Ohm's law).

General comment: when using any measuring instrument, always consider maximum permitted values at the entrances so that the instrument is not damaged

    and the measure is accurate.

Let us know how you do.
