nits and chkdsk performance runs when you power on the computer

My computer runs chkdsk most of the time I turn on my computer.  Performance is very slow and often I see the words, "not responding" when using Explorer and Outlook.  I have defraged and cleaned my disk several times without success.  I have my antivirus Norton Security Suite program.  Help!

It is possible that some third-party programs installed on the computer is at the origin of the performance problem.

I suggest that you put the computer in a clean boot state and check if it helps.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows XP by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

  • White screen when I power on the computer

I have Windows Vista. It began Monday, today is Thursday. I turn on computer tower as usual. Screen remains blank. tried turning off, would not turn off. (I know now from my neighbor to keep in touch during this problem) so I unplug a minute. all that happens is screen Black w/white letters saying: "windows has not start blah, blah, before we get to the end of reading, it comes down to, 'windows is loading file'. '. If I leave it alone for a while, only he's stuck in this mode. I turn off, then on. Finally, it loads windows. every day this same week thing. Today, it took almost an hour to power off before loading Windows. I only had a few months to this computer. I deleted the browser and when it was loading also did a system restore thing. Must I do and is it safe to make a PC Cleaner? AND what if I turn it off at night?

Turn on your pc and immediately start pressing F8 (before the windows logo)

Select Safe Mode and wait for it to load
Then logon as the administrator account, if you have assigned a password, type it in, otherwise leave blank.
Then click the Start Menu > then click run
Then type cmd and press OK.
Then type sfc/scannow , and then press enter
He'll then fix system files automatically
Then type chkdsk c: /f and press enter
When it asks if you want to run the check disk the next time it boots, type o and press on Enter.

The steps above will fix the missing or damaged files, and the disk check will scan the hard drive for problems in the partition automatically for you. That should do it.

  • Pop Up window which appears when you connect to the computer

I made an update of windows Monday, 7-6 and now get the following message when I connect to my computer.  When you try to close the popups they keep reappearing. Any idea on what it's for or how to fix?

The feature you are trying to use is on a network unavailable resource. Click OK to try again or enter a different path to the folder containing the installation package "status.msi" in the box below. ""  Another box pops up saying please wait while windows configures the status. Then another box appears saying that cannot find an installation package for the product. Try the installation again using a valid copy of the installation package "status.msi".

    SOLUTION: Download this file:

    tap the status.msi. Steve

  • Why have I not lack of photos in the collections. How can I sort this. It's so boring after a number of collections to find a lot of missing pictures when you turn on the computer again.

Why do I get "missing photos" in the collections of bridge. and how to use them.   so boring after the construction of a few collections to find the photos missing when you restart the computer.

Aare move you or rename the pictures or folders having a collection? Bridge is a file browser, not an asset manager, so everything you do have an impact on the file names and locations can invalidate the elements stored in a collection.

    Hello

To add to thin boards of karena R:

Here's what I use and recommend:

Avast and Prevx proved extremely reliable and compatible with everything I threw at them.
Microsoft Security Essentials and Prevx have also proven very reliable and compatible.

Avast Home free - stop any shields is not necessary except away from Standard, Web and network is working.

    Prevx - Home - free

    Windows Firewall

Windows Defender (is not necessary if you use MSE)

    Protected IE - mode

IE 8 - SmartScreen filter WE (IE 7 phishing filter)

I also IE always start with asset if filter InPrivate IE 8.
(Sometimes you have to temporarily turn off with the little icon to the left of the + bottom right of IE)

Avast - stop home - free - all shields you do no need except leave Standard, Web and network running.
(Double-click the blue icon - details look OK. - upper left Shields - those that you do not cancel).
    http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html

Or use Microsoft Security Essentials - free
    http://www.Microsoft.com/Security_Essentials/

Prevx works well alongside MSE or Avast

Prevx - Home - small, fast, exceptional CLOUD free protection, working with other security programs. It comes
a scan only, VERY EFFICIENT, if it finds something to come back here or use Google to see how to remove.
    http://www.prevx.com/   <-->

    PCmag - Prevx - Editor's choice
    http://www.PCMag.com/Article2/0, 2817,2346862,00.asp

Also get Malwarebytes - free - use as scanner only. If you ever suspect malware, and that would be unusual with
Avast and Prevx running except a low occasional (not much), updated cookie and then run it as
a scanner. I have a lot of scanners and they never find anything of note that I started to use this configuration.
