We need the DMP file because they contain the only record of the sequence of events that led to the accident, what drivers have been loaded, and what has been loaded.
We prefer at least 2 DMP files to track trends and to confirm the cause.

  • Tecra 9100 ' NMI: channel check "BSOD".

My laptop two years Tecra 9100 1.7 Mhz computer faithful began to get a very regular blue screen of death. This occurs only when it is running on battery power and the error message is:

    Hardware malfunction

    NMI: Channel check / IOCHECK.

Does so within approximately 30 seconds 2 minutes of running on battery power.

I was hoping that it was a problem with corruption of driver so I ve completely flattened the thing on day 1 with a full drive reinstall with 'the CD ROM product development' and the problem persists.

The battery should t be worn, as I have little use, I even kept it out of the machine to avoid wear out that I almost never need to use the machine in a mobile context, i.e. There is a practically new battery! It's only in the past month (since I got wireless broadband) I used the battery at all.

Just to remind the laptop is totally stable on the sector and never blue no screening while tension in this way. The problem occurs only when powered by a battery. I flashed the Bios up to v1.6 v1.5 with no effect. The problem occurs with a completely new install from the CD ROM recovery and also when it is fully configured with XP SP2 and all the XP2 post updates.

Anyone any idea what's causing this error? Any diagnosis I could do?

    Thank you very much.

    Tony.

    Hi Tony

Sorry, but I have bad news for you. This message occurs if there is a problem with the main Board. I can't say exactly what it can be, but I think that some piece of hardware is not recognized correctly.

Contact the Service partner in your country and Tony let check the laptop.

  • IDE channel - check the State DMA/PIO

    Hello

I tried to check the DMA/PIO State of my system, but I couldn't find something that mentions primary/secondary channel under "controllers IDE ATA/ATAPI" in Device Manager. From what I've read in various forums, it is the way to do it, and I also noticed that a few people could not find the ' primary/secondary way' thing as well. (but I could not find a solution to the issue)

My problem is that some USB ports (2 of 4) I used normally would slow when I transfer data to and from the external HARD drive. Now, I've been move to the other 2 USB ports, and I could see the difference in the rate of transfer. This has happened before with my XP system, but I was able to access the channel primary/secondary and turned them all to DMA, which is something that I can't do now with my other Vista system. So now I would really check on that, and I need help to make...

    My system:
Windows Vista (updated with all the Windows update)
    Intel Core 2 Duo P9600 2.67 GHz
    4 GB OF RAM
nVidia GeForce GTX 260-1 GB memory
    Realtek/Creative SoundBlaster
HARD drive 320 (which is good, it's almost full, leaving about 20 GB of free space, but the problem that I mentioned above happened when I had still 60 GB of free space, as a few months ago)

It would be great if someone can help me to brighten my days here. I'm not a geek, but certainly not an illiterate as well.

    Thank you in advance!

    Hi PC45,.

In case you can't find primary/secondary channel under "controllers IDE ATA/ATAPI" in Device Manager, you can try to expand IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers and check for ATA channel 0 or right-click on it and click Properties. Later, click on the tab for setting advance, check if you can see the status of the DMA mode.

Because you are connected to the USB and the data transfer rate is slow, and it works fine when connected to a different USB port, I suggest you to update the USB drivers on the motherboard manufacturer's website.

You can also navigate to the link below and follow the steps to update the drivers on your computer.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/update-a-driver-for-hardware-that-isn ' t-work correctly

Also, if you have any security software installed on your computer, you can try to temporarily disable and check if the date transfer rate is better. If you find the security software, the origin of the problem, you can contact the manufacturer of security software and check if there is no parameter to be changed. Later, re-enable the security software.

I hope this helps. Let us know the status.

    Thank you and best regards,

    Srinivas R Microsoft Support.

  • SP4600 - hardware failure message

Hi, (sorry, but my English is not good:-D))

I bought an old SP4600 (type SP460E-038LR-FR) with formatted HARD drive (so less potential drivers and software utilities). For the first 1/2 in. I m of HDD installed WinXP Home, on the second space 1/2 I m of HDD installed Linux Mandrake 10.1. I installed m maximum drivers and utilities available for this model and the Win XP operating system from internet downloads.

I have a problem: laptop computer performance of AC power, the battery is normally charged (up to 2 1/2 hour to 100%), computer laptop, works normally, all ok, great job. If but laptop running on battery power (cord is unplugged) and I have choices on 'Start-offer' (LILO) entry "Windows XP", after the full boot WinXP system for a few seconds (sometimes 1-2 minutes) or the first move with the mouse, I get a black LCD screen with blue rectangle and white text:

    Hardware malfunction
Call your provider of support material
    NMI: Channel check / IOCHK
    The system stopped *.

Except a 'switch' computer laptop Don t answer other buttons.

If but laptop running on battery power (cord is unplugged) and I have choice on 'Start-offer' entry (LILO) "Linux", the system boots normally and aditional run is all ok, next work is possible well until by battery (ca 1 hour 16 minutes). End of battery discharge of progress, system that Linux is normally completed and the laptop turning off circuivent.

By running the laptop from AC power, System WinXP (Linux too) running without any absolute of problems - all ok, "nice."

Unfortunately, sometimes I need work with laptop and Win XP in terms of battery, that momentally is not possible.

Please, all know someone like my problem, answer me or send me an e-mail.

Thak you very much, best regards, Radek Zacek, CZ

    Hi Radek

First of all I must tell you that SP 4600 is super portable. It's the old but very good. And now, something about your problem. In my opinion some hardware component doesn't work properly and you must contact the Service partner. It is possible that you can it be long with power, but it may be worse use it long.

It is also possible that power electronic load do some problems. Like I said before, Service partner. They check your machine.

    Good luck!

Check the sanremo poster, which refers to the knowledge base article Microsoft!

  • TECRA 9100 battery problem

    Similar experiences to mine, please?

After using no not my Tecra for some time (about 3 months). He was once again the charger for more than 24 hours and I'm now done with the original problem, I had the last time I used the Tecra, several months ago! The problem is, I think, only related to the tent to use it on battery, as follows:

At the start of the machine of 'cold', after passing the request of 'password' screen, it goes straight to a "small blue screen", which includes the message:

    Hardware malfunction

Call your provider of support material

    NMI: channel check / IOCHK

    The system stopped *.

A little more information, I found that I can actually 'blue screen' situation - turn off not having don't no need to remove it battery that I first thought - and if I get the power cable then everything starts up well and seems to work normally. If I then remove the power cable (leaving the laundry to run on battery only) the small blue screen and same message reappears.

Yet once which seems to indicate a battery problem, I guess?

Has anyone else had a similar experience?

    Hello

Windows may indicate a fundamental error messages only when material occurrence malfunction, so that the elimination of the errors can be difficult for equipment problems. Most of the problems of material step in connection with the motherboard, the main memory on a motherboard or adapter or the stamp on a motherboard or adapter.

On this path, it is not easy to say what may be the problem. I don't know how old is the unit, but if the unit is still under warranty I advice you contact service partner chartered. I'm sure they can find what may be the cause of this problem.

    Good bye

  • Tecra 9000 - hardware malfunction with battery

    Hello

If I only work with my battery I get the message:
    Hardware malfunction
Call your provider of support material
    NMI: Channel Check/IOCHK
    Support has ceased

Last week, I change the battery but the problem is still on.

    Hello

According to this Microsoft article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/222973/en-us, there is a hardware problem. In my opinion, you will not be able to record only. Contact the service partner in your country and let check the device. If this continues with the new battery too, I presume that there is some problem with electronic power to the motherboard.

This message occurs only if the mobile PC is running on battery power, or in other cases too?

    Hello

Windows can display only basic error messages in case of malfunctioning of the equipment, troubleshooting can be difficult. Most Centre of problems of equipment around the motherboard, the RAM on a motherboard or on an adapter, or memory cache on a motherboard or adapter.
Well, it would be very interesting to know that you have changed material. In addition it is possible that you have improved the unit with the device is not compatible.

    Good bye
