It turns out that the problem is so the driver being old-fashioned. The chipset is the AX88179 and the manufacturer provides its own drivers here: http://www.asix.com.tw/download.php?sub=driverdetail & PItemID = 131

    So, all is well again.

Ethernet USB adapter does not work after update to mac sierra.

Please solve this problem as soon as POSSIBLE

    Hello guatamshah,

If your USB to ethernet adapter does not work now that you have upgraded to Mac OS Sierra, there are a number of things we can try to get it working again.

The first thing we want to do is to reset the SMC and the NVRAM on your Mac.
Reset the management system (SCM) controller on your Mac.

How to reset the NVRAM on your Mac.

If the adapter is not still work after only two resets check to see if your Mac recognizes the device properly in the information system. In the Apple Menu, choose about this Mac, and then click the button 'system report... '. ». Once you have the window open system information, see the USB category on the left.

However, if you do not see the device in system information, you may need to verify that network service appears correctly. In the Apple menu, choose system then Network preferences. You should see an entry similar to "Ethernet" on the left. If no, see the steps in the article below to add. Once add, test to see if your connection works with a disabled Wi - Fi connection.

If it does not appear in the network, please let us know what you see on the right when you select the service, and the name of the service as it appears and we can go from there!

    Kind regards.

  • How can Hello I just transfer program from a laptop to a desktop iMac computer using an Ethernet cable

    Hello

How can I transfer a single program and its content from a laptop computer to an iMac using an Ethernet cable

You can network or target mode a mac computer

OS X Lion mountain: connect to shared computers and servers for files on a network

Share files between two computers with target - Apple Support disk mode

However, to transfer a program is not the user data (music, photos, etc.), you must follow the directions of developers and license agreements. Some programs need to be seen to withdraw their authorization, some don't, but most require a clean install to write the necessary components in the correct places, otherwise if you are 'slide' from one place to another, you can easily inherent problems of this method.

  • Ethernet to the airport also on?

I have my Mac connected directly to our home Airport Extreme via an ethernet cable. That same Airport Extreme acts as our main wifi router. Until recently, I didn't cause to turn on the wifi of the handiest airport on my Mac, but I have to if I want to use the new Sierra "unlock with Apple Watch" and copy and paste between the characteristics of devices, that which I want to be able to use.

My question is, is my default Mac using the connection of the cable as my internet source or have two internet connections active will complicate things?  Is there a way to prevent the Mac to use the wifi for the internet, but still have it on for the other features it offers?

    Thank you.

Nevermind, I found the answer outside this area communities:

    http://www.Macworld.com/article/3039842/Macs/can-you-use-Wi-Fi-and-Ethernet-on-a - mac-to-the-same-SystemRoot\Cluster\Reports\Validation

You can dictate the order of preference for which network source is used in settings > network on your Mac. By moving "Ethernet" upward, your Mac always uses the Ethernet Wifi or any other sources listed below, as long as the Ethernet is an active connection. If something happen with your Ethernet connection (cable comes off, maybe) your default settings for Mac to the next source in the list that has an active connection.

Apparently there is nothing wrong with having active ethernet and wifi connections at the same time.

  • Ethernet questions

So I don't know what is happening but I had an internet outage the other day for about 36 hours when some construction cut my ISP ADSL line and never feel things acted like weird, but from what I can tell it's my 4th gen time capsule at fault.

Only 1 of the 3 ethernet ports seems to put on the internet. I use the other to my basement, and it sometimes says it's on the right of the network with no internet access, but most of the time just says unidentified network, no internet access. He worked all day but seems to just decide he doesn't want to chance.

The other problem is that the TC itself appears to be loss of connection randomly with flashing orange. When reset, it works again. Don't know what is happening here. I use a PPPOE set up to connect via the TC; the ADSL modem is connected via Ethernet. Nothing has changed on my end, this could be a service provider because of the failure?

    Thank you

Also, the modem is a router?

What is the make and model?

I use it as a router and try again with just the bridge the TC.

    PPPOE can be problematic.

Ethernet ports can blow... If you get a tip to the top of the line... then we can take any ethernet port connected to both... If that includes the Port of the TC WAN no longer functions as a router.

You have a little work to understand the question... but another router is key.

  • Unable to connect to the internet using Ethernet

I have a Mac mini as I try to connect via Ethernet cable to a modem Comcast Arris TG862. I was connected via Wifi without problem (with the exception of the slower speeds). I know that the Ethernet ports on the back of the modem seem to work, since I can listen to my TV, etc. In settings > network Ethernet shows as green and connected and gives me an IP address, but as soon as I turn off Wifi no web page doesn't load.
What I am doing wrong? I thought that it would just connect. On the Ethernet port lights, which I think means data transfer. Otherwise, I need to tell Firefox or Chrome to turn to the Ethernet connection?
    Thank you!

The default configuration is to have the WiFi over Ethernet in the Service order.

The order must be set such that the (desired) primary service is at the top of the list and the backup service is below.

If you look at the order of service when it is connected to the network, the higher is the provision of access Internet one (or at least, he thinks Yes).

To set the order, click on the menu of the machine and choose the order of Service. Move Ethernet to the top of the list. This should make it primary unless he loses the connection.

However, it must move up Ethernet and provide a connection when you have turned off the WiFi. When you disable WiFi on the Mac, the Ethernet connection move to the top of the list and show a green connection?
