I have Windows 7 RC running on my DELL 8400 desktop computer and want to perform a new installation on Windows XP. Installation stops after the 1st (install Windows XP) screen with error message "No Hard Drive Found" and start again. I used to run XP OK on the machine before participating in the beta program. Please help as I am not ready to move again to the full version of Windows 7. My hard drive is a Western Digital 160 GB and the DELL 8400 has an edge Intel SATA Controller. Thanks for your help.

    Hi Mike.

You may be able to put the drive in the BIOS for a SATA legacy which will act as an IDE, which won't be visible when installing XP.  Otherwise, you need to get a copy of the SATA drivers, and then press F2 as the XP installation starts that will allow you to use the drivers that XP installation can see the SATA drive.

  • No hard drive found when reinstalling on a HARD drive are deleted

    Hello.

I have a Probook 6560 b. The user of the laptop forgot the password so I decided to get to the bottom of the laptop using the BIOS Secure Erase.

However, this created a problem. I found other threads but not quite the same thing.

About installing Windows 7, I get to the place where you want to install Windows screen, but no disks are found. He asks me to load a driver for installing mass storage. Ideas where I can find it, as the driver disk does not appear? I looked on the downloads page for my probook and tried to install the Intel controller, but it is not recognized by windows.

Pointers or suggestions would be welcome.

    Hello:

I don't know what to tell you. It's the right driver.

Keep the hard drive in your external case.

Completely remove all them were leaving, create and format a partition (NTFS) using the windows disk management tool.

Then return to the noteook and give it another go.

  • Brand new dv6t - install Win 7 Ultimate Clean - error "no hard drive found."

Just shot my new w dv6t quad edition / WSSD 32 GB out of the box. Goes for a clean format and install of Win 7 Ultimate. Once started from the bootable DVD, I get an error 'no drives were found. No disks/partitions won't show.

When I start in the existing installation of Win 7 Home Premium and initialize the disc for installation of win 7, there will be readers... but I can not format or delete as a that I need to boot from the disk.

Seems to me like a driver for the WSSD/HARD disk problem. If someone has encountered this? Any help is very appreciated.

    SOLVED.

You must open the computer and physically remove the WSSD garbage 32 GB module and disconnect the HDD in RAID mode.  Basically, the computer to get rid of the disease and the setting not save as a standard HARD drive.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS THIS OPTION!

  • installation of windows xp pro without a hard drive found

try to reinstall windows on my wifes after a problem computer, so I formatted the disc which is a WD cavier SE WD800.

WD say that there are no drivers sata for this?

I think that's what I have to go?... SATA drivers for win xp to see the HARD drive.

    Thanks much for any help.

    John.

Depends on how old the motherboard has. What you can check is the following:

    (1) check that your drive is connected to a standard SATA port and not a port SATA RAID (Raid ports usually have a different color and come as a pair of sockets/connectors on the motherboard.)

    2) enter the BIOS and set the SATA "IDE" mode

    (3) If your motherboard doesn't support SATA-I mode, then you may need to change the jumper on the WD800 to SATA I have fashion.

    Hello:

It is unlikely that you will be able to recover all the data, but you want to play $20 on it, you can buy a SATA hard disc to USB Office like this case and give it a try.

    http://www.Newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16817182155

Even for a non-techie, replacing a hard drive is quite simple.  Here is the link to the service manual.  See page 17 for procedures to remove and replace the hard drive.

Then of course, you must read the procedures for opening the case so.

If you feel confident that you can complete these tasks, then you are techie enough.

    http://h10032.www1.HP.com/CTG/manual/c00841410.PDF

Looking at the specs for your PC, you will need to buy a hard drive SATA II of 750Go. You can go as high as 1 TB, but do not exceed this size.

  • Problem of dualboot with LIKE 6-1090eo, no hard drive found new windows

    Hello

Im trying to make my Dualboot envy. Make a new partition for it. Everything was groovy. But now, I hit a wall: startup in windows install works fine, even copied files when started installing windows. But. When should I choose the destination for the installation, no drive must be found. I copied the drivers for the drive directly from windows for the installation media, install said no driver here, nono. This is the original hybrid drive came with the laptop. No systeminfo identifies the disc. Some say it's a record of intel, propably chipset's. Checked Bios, no probs there.

Oh great, what to do now? Change the player?

    Hello:

    Please try this...

Download the drivers from this link below (first or second file listed - 32 or 64 bit depending on the case).

    https://Downloadcenter.Intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?AGR=Y&ProdId=2101&DwnldID=23060&keyword=Intel+RAPI...

Extract the files on a usb flash drive.

With the flash player and the installation of W7 media connected to the computer, boot from the installation of W7 media.

After selecting the install now option, select the training - Advanced menu, Options and select the option load a driver.

You should now see the storage driver files listed.

If you check the box, it only includes the compatible driver.

Follow the prompts and should install W7.

  • No hard drive not found when installing Windows 7

I have a HP Envy 4 - Ultrabook 1046tx and the operating system Windows 64-bit 8.1. While downgrading to Windows 7 64 bit I was unable to find the hard drives. In the installation screen it showed me "no hard drive found. Click on load a driver to provide a driver for installing mass storage.'.»

I downloaded all the versions (from most recent to oldest) technology Intel Rapid Storage Technology drivers and I tried install one by one but they do not work and the hard drives are still not visible. But if I use a Windows 8 install disc and install the driver drives are visible.

I need my computer to display the default hard drives without the need for a SATA driver. How do I do that? My Intel chipset manufacturer and model is Ivy Bridge HM77.

Can someone help me solve the problem please?

    Thanks in advance!

I tried a lot of things these steps. But this has not worked for me. Might work for others. I'm sticking with Windows 8.1 for awhile and I will continue to find other ways. If I find the solution will immediately post the solution in this thread. Thanks to Paul_Tikkanen for helping me!

When you request support, please provide the model name and product number complete (p/n) of the HP computer in question. HP/Compaq made thousands of computer models. Without this information, it can be difficult, even impossible to help you solve your problem.

The information requested above are on the bottom, back, next to your computer or on the BIOS boot screen. DO NOT include your serial number.

Any hard drive should be able to work on your computer, as it is the same type of interface. After replacing the hard drive, you may need to check that it is seen by the BIOS.

After replacing the hard drive, use the HP recovery media that you created when you first set up your computer to return the computer to a factory State. If you don't create this media, media must be bought from HP customer care through a depression. This method can be valid in the United States and the Canada. Contact customer support and see if you can ask the media

    Hi Ken

It will be interesting to know what model of laptop you have. Obviously the HARD drive is not properly recognized. On this path, it is not easy to say why, but perhaps there is problem with the contacts and the HARD drive cannot be recognized by BIOS.

    Hi Ken

It would be nice to know the name of cell exactly.
I guess that the BIOS does not recognize the HARD drive due to the size of the HARD drive.

It would be very interesting to know if the HARD disk is compatible with this laptop and supported

  • When changing the 80 GB to 40 GB HARD drive, Satellite M40 does not recognize the drive

    Hi all

    Thanks for coming in! :)
I recently source two-disc 40GB 2.5 "IDE and intended to run one of them in my Satellite M40.

    The problem starts here:

    (1) I took the original 80 GB hard drive & install the 40 GB hard drive
    (2) start and put in the Toshiba M40 recovery disk
    (3) display screen 'Y' for recovery blah blah blah thing...
    (4) then the screen shows 'cannot be installed because no hard drive found ".
    (5) I boot in the BIOS using F2-> F1, page 2 shows no hard drive

    (6) I try to use my own CD of Windows XP Pro, same thing (as in no hard drive found)
    (7) and the BIOS too show no hard drive found

The two disk 40 GB is out of mobile work and they formatted it, partition deleted with NOTHING on it. They have also been tested on other PCs (using the converter) using WXP. Two of them work very well!

Now, the weird thing is that I just can't make it work at least in the Sat - M40. Why is this? Toshiba locked the M40 being one Toshiba-disc is usable?
Is there a place to get through it? Hidden BIOS?

I have fixed a large number of PCs, but I can't with this, Please HELP...
Any response would be appreciated, thanks! :)

    Hello

The M40 should be able to use 40 GB hard drives with no problems.
But you must use hard drives with the right interface.
To my knowledge the M40 supports hard drives with an interface IDE (ATA-6).

So be sure that your 40 GB HARD drive supports it.

By the way; Check if your HARD drive supports the good master or slave definition.

  • Pure install Win 7 - hybrid hard drive

I have a HP ENVY Ultrabook 6-1030sm laptop. It uses a hard drive (hybrid) combined with ssd. I want to install a clean version of Windows 7. After you run the installer, I get an error message indicating "no hard disk found. "Click on load a driver to provide a driver for installing mass storage. I tried to copy the drivers (both exe and extracted) on USB, but after scanning the content, he always says there is no hard drive found on the selected source.

Google produces an idea that I should use diskpart, select one of the disks and clean it. DiskPart tells me that there is only a single disk with 7 GB in size. I guess it's the SSD HARD drive part.

Please give me help on what I have to do to install a clean version of Windows 7 and always use SSDS. Thank you!

    Hi all!

I have lenovo ThinkPad T540p. Intel Core I7, 8 GB RAM and 500 GB HARD drive. I think my HARD drive is Toshiba. It had Windows 7 on it, but it starts no more on this subject. When I start Windows is it shows 5 seconds black screen, and then it displays the Boot Menu. And the list with readers is empty, so I can't reinstall Windows. I've updated the BIOS, but it did not help. Finally, I formatted my HARD drive and created two partitions on it. It worked, but not for long. I installed Windows 7. Everything was going well until I restarted my computer. And then I got the same problem: 'Cannot start from the HARD disk' and displays the Start Menu. Then I booted Windows installation and I got the same error: "no hard drive found."

I don't understand what is happening with my HARD drive and that is to destroy his scores.

And I don't think that my HARD drive is broken.

I don't really know what to do!
    Please, help me!

    Thanks a lot!

    Here is the solution:

My HARD drive was broken. I bought a new MX100 of Crucial SSd and everything is fine.
