No links or shortcut keys or click menu options right don't work to open anything.

Since yesterday evening, I was not able to use THE link buttons or shortcut in dialog boxes.  After that I downloaded something I can't simply click on the file to open it, and I can't click on the button "OpenFolder" to open the folder. In Windows Explorer, I can not open anything by double click, right click and click Open, by right clicking and choosing an option open with, etc. Nothing. In addition, by clicking on URL links in emails don't open links. by clicking on the FTP links does not download files FTP. None of the shortcut links/buttons etc work - they just HANG there and nothing to do.

Thank God I AM able to work or I would go nuts, but I have to open Word (2007) and then from word, open a document. I have to open Excel, and then Excel opens an excel file. A lot of your time. I have to use Windows Explorer to find what I want and then remember NOT to click on the file in the folder, but open the program and open the file from there. And I can't open the email URL links. etc...

The only things that happened yesterday evening I can think are my computer also downloaded a lot of files MS Update, which seemed to install successfully. And I tried to open a Word document attached to an e-mail and he just sort of Hung there and died. I don't think it was a virus - I have very good virus & firewall protection - I think that the document has been altered. But of course I can't be sure.

I tried to re-registration of Office.

I rebooted a couple of times.

I already tried this announcement to the Office Online discussion group, but the DISPLAY won't ith t because it is an automatic link!  ALL these 'automatic' type things are CONFUSED. Help, please!

Thank you.

AdinaSherer,
Thanks for posting on the Microsoft Answers forum.  The first thing I would say is to perform a system restore to a day or two before the problem started.  Here are instructions and a link to the article on the restoration of the system: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306084

To use system restore to restore Windows XP to a previous state, follow these steps:

  1. Log on to Windows as an administrator.
  2. Click Start, point to programs, point to Accessories, point to System Toolsand then click System Restore. System Restore starts.
  3. On the homepage to the system restore , click Restore my computer to an earlier time (if it is not already selected), and then click Next.
  4. In the Select a Restore Point page, click the last system restore point from the list on this list, click a restore point , and then click Next.

Note A system restore message may appear that lists configuration changes that system restore will make. Click OK.

  5. In the Confirm Restore Point selection page, click Next. System Restore restores the previous Windows XP configuration, and then restarts the computer.
  6. Log the computer as an administrator. The full restore System Restore page appears.
  7. Click OK.

Let us know if you are able to complete the restoration.

To change the order of these items, use the following:

You must update the following (your versions have known security problems):

    • Shockwave Flash 10.2 r152
    • Next-generation Java plug-in 1.6.0_22 for Mozilla browsers
    1. Check your plugin versions on one of the following links:

    2. Update the Flash plugin to the latest version.
      • Download and SAVE to your desktop, so you can find the Setup program later
      • If you do not have the current version, click on the "Player Download Center" link on the 'download and information' or 'Download manual installers' below
      • Once the download is complete, exit Firefox
      • Click on the installer, you just download and install
        • Windows 7 and Vista: will need to right click on the installer and choose 'run as administrator '.
      • Launch Firefox and recheck your version or up to the download link below to test the installation
      • Download and information: http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
        • Use Firefox to go to the site above to update the Firefox plugin (will also install the plugin for most other browsers, except IE)
        • Use IE to go to the site above to update the ActiveX to IE
      • Download manual installers.

  • using the taskbar icon made a right-click menu options 'tasks' disappeared

I'm on FF 34.0.5 running on Windows 7 Ultimate (V6.1 Build 7601, SP1). Since a few days the options of 'tasks' on the right, click on the menu of the taskbar icon disappeared. The rest is two (three times current running FF) lines: unpin and FF.
I tried the solution proposed by https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/994990 without success. The browser.taskbar.lastgroupid keeps returning to this string "E7CF176E110C211B" as the set of users.
I even uninstalled completely, including the folder in Program Files and my FF profile. None of the measures has helped.

The highest browser.taskbar... has the same value after re-installation. The key containing this value is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Mozilla\Firefox\TaskBarIDs, with two values "default = not defined" and "C:\\Program Files (x 86) \\Mozilla Firefox" = "E7CF176E110C211B."

How can I return this feature?
    Thanks for the help

  • How can I create a shortcut to a Tools menu option?

I use the clone stamp and the Brush tool on a regular basis. Each of these tools provides a Mode: the drop-down list to select from the menu bar.

The drop-down options menu I used more frequently are lighten and darken. I would like to create shortcuts to lighten and darken, such as Ctrl + Shift + L (Leclerc) and Ctrl + Shift + D (darken).

The menu in the tools Panel bar does not seem to have a selection list in the keyboard shortcuts dialog box.

    How to create these shortcuts.

    Thank you in advance,

    Jim

They are already there.  The same shortcuts that affect the layer blending modes when other tools are selected, do exactly the same thing when the brush; Clone, correction, blur, sharpness and Smudge Tools are selected.  (I forgot the gradient tool)

So, with the move tool or a bounding box selected

Shift Alt + selected blend modes scrolls down

Shift Alt - scroll picked up blend modes

You can go directly to certain modes of mixing with the first letters

    Shift Alt n = Normal

    Shift Alt m = multiply

    Shift s Alt = screen

Now select the brush, or one of the tools that have blending modes, and the same keys will do the same job for the blending mode of this tool.

  • shortcut key to increase the volume is no longer working

I used to be able to press fn + the "up/down" arrow to raise and lower the volume, but since one of these updates to windows, this function no longer works.  It is very annoying, because now I have to move my mouse touchpad to its little icon in the corner and listen to jarring 'BEEP' in my headphones every time I want to adjust the volume.

It's very weird, because the "fn + ' button still works with the other shortcuts: for example, fn + F7 is still the brighter screen, etc.  Only the volume button, I use the most, has stopped working.

I looked everywhere to try to find where I can fix this, but no use.  These windows updates are sometimes annoying, because they occur without direct permission and always seem to ruin what was once entirely well work.

I have Windows Vista Home Premium 2007, on a Toshiba computer that I bought in late 2007.

Can someone help me solve this problem?  It seems that it should be easily fixable, but I am at a loss.

    Hello evelynann,

Thank you for visiting the website of Microsoft Windows Vista Community.

How long this issue has taken place and is there any hardware or software changes made to create this problem?  If so I suggest do a system restore to the point that it work properly.  I would also go on the manufactures website and download the utility, which allows me to use the fn keys.

  • Own too fast and silent T61 shortcut key Win 7 install DVD towers way not working - please help!

Then... covers the subject well enough.  Reinstall the thinkvantage tool box, Manager of food, ultranav, fingerprint reader, update utility and drivers webcam (don't know if this works-am download Skype now to check).  I am impressed with the speed, but other than the DVD spinning at mach 10 & the mute button (love that touches at the meetings) being disabled, I'm happy.  Any question or help would be really appreciated-thank you!

    Hello

Have you installed the software ThinkVantage Hotkey features , as well as the Chipset Intel Software?  If so, this ones did change things?  Also, have you checked to see if there are options to performance of the DVD drive on the T61 BIOS which can be displayed/hidden?

I have a 'drop down menu ' (which is in fact silent...) with 4 buttons on the inside. The menu BG is just a movieclip containing the buttons. Import fl.transitions.Tween; you only need to import once
    Fl.transitions.easing import. *;
    Import fl.transitions.TweenEvent;

var menuTween:Tween;  declared outside any function interpolation

  • pressing the key "w" lance programs that I don't want to open.

Whenever I hit the "w" key on my keyboard, it opens the programs that I don't want to not open.  ITunes, internet explore etc. open up and stop what ever I am working.  It is a real headache when I work on word documents.  How can I stop this?

    Hi WSGP.

Thank you for using Vista answers Forum.

This only occurs in Microsoft Word?
You press another key at the same time with the key "w"?
Are you using any character language alternative cards?

I suggest all first update your antivirus software and do a full scan of your computer.

I suggest then perform a clean boot to isolate startup programs that can cause this problem.
Here is an article on how to do it:

  • R - click menu "search Google for" [text]

My FF (13.0.1) intermittently offers via the click menu option right for "search Google for ' some text that I chose.

AFAICT there is no rhyme/reason when it is and isn't, and I want to do it every time.

I don't think I could be the only one, but maybe my research OS is not what it was.

    Thank you!

Can you give an example of a situation where it does not appear, and text is selected?

It does work in a text box or the entry form.

  • Shortcut keys work not

    Greetings

Computer of my wife's an A200-JA1, running Windows 7 Home Premium, 32-bit, but the same problem existed in Windows Vista, this isn't a problem to upgrade. If you drag the mouse to the top of the screen, you get the menu to access the shortcut keys, but pressing on Fn + F__ does not work with the function keys. This is more important if she forgets her mouse at home - it leaves the default disabled trackpad, but without having a mouse to access the menu of trackpad at the top of the screen, it cannot activate the trackpad by pressing Fn + F9. It does not work. I tried several other - Fn + F6 or F7 to decrease/increase brightness, Fn + F5 to change the external display, etc., but none of them work.

There is a small green light between the F10 key and keys 9/0 below and when you press the Fn key on the keyboard, this little button (which looks like four arrows pointing outward) turns on, but that's all.

    Any suggestion is appreciated.

    Mike.

P.S. somehow and we are not sure of the key combination, but she sometimes keyboard begins to display by using the characters 'red '. For example, when pressing SHIFT + / instead of get a? She'll have an E instead. The only way to reset seems to be rebooting the computer.

  • Right click menu items of modules have changed

For some reason, I'll only have this problem on my work computer, not at home, even though I know I am running the same version of Firefox and most of the same extensions (both computers running Windows 7, too). I have at least three different add-ons that include (or) elements of context menu - Pushbullet, Adblock Plus and open in current tab recently - and I don't know what changed to cause this - open in current tab disappeared altogether in the context menu, and Pushbullet and Adblock items moved to the top of the menu, above all that is supposed to be on top , as 'open in a new tab '. I can't find anything in the options of these modules is all relevant. Open in current tab doesn't seem to not even have options. I also installed menu editor, thinking I want to manually change the right-click menu options to the way they were, but none of these menu options Add on appears in the list of available options.

No idea what could be wrong?

HE may have updated in preparation for the e10s in versions every night.

However, it is most likely your addons interaction with the other. Ones you mention have elements in the right click menu, so you can disable all the add ons but those, show the menus right click upward?

    Also check the malware:

  • My right click menu has changed to 'Google for (selected text)' Yahoo Search. How can I change this back?

I like to use Google more than Yahoo. I would change my right click menu options to find using Google.

The contextual (right click menu) uses the engine that is selected in the search bar, change there.
