Due to an overheating problem, I reinstalled Windows XP. The Device manager now showes no port COM and the toshiba software modem give an error message when I try to use it. Please help;

Hello

Usually after the form of the installation of the recovery CD should all work properly.
But if you have installed the Windows from the CD from Microsoft if you need to install Toshiba stuff (drivers, tools) in the right order.
It is very important that you will install the Chipset utility, cardbus driver initially.

  • Satellite A300-1BZ with Vista - Port Com disappeared

    Hello world.

My first time and I'm a bit of a dunce with technical stuff, so please be gentle with me!

    A300-1BZ with Vista.

Some time ago I installed "CarSoft V.83" (diagnosis engine) of CD on my laptop. He asked me to check the com port.
I looked in Device Manager and in the list that I saw "port com 4". OK, we'll go with that then. Everything worked well and I was luckily away talking to my car.

Yesterday I went to use it for the second time and he says there is an error with the com port and 'check' the com-port.
So, I got the Device Manager to the top and there is no mention of any com ports in the list! It is the last time I looked, and now he's disappeared!

I was at a loss what to do, I uninstalled the CarSoft, then re-intsalled once again. Received the same error message.
Went to Device Manager. Still no com port 4 from the list, or anything that pertains to a com-port.

I don't know how or if I can get it back.

    Help, please!

    Hi mate

First of all there is no COM port. The com port that you could see in the Device Manager has been a virtual port created by the software of the car.

    What to say
I recommend to remove the software of the car of the first installation.
Then download the CCleaner and clean registry and system entries.
Restart the computer, and then rerun the CCleaner
After that, install the software in the car again

  • Modem port COM 3 is already in use

I installed the modem using the supplied driver, but every time I ask the modem he says that the port is already open. In device under ports COM and LPT LPT1 Manager only is there no mention of all the com ports. Any suggestions please

    Hello

As far as I know that the modem uses virtual agrees that are created by the operating system.
There will be no physical com ports listed in Device Manager.
Do you have any kind of error messages or the modem is not listed in the Device Manager to all?

    Good bye

  • PORTS (COM & LPT) is more visible in the device controller speaker?

Allows you to view is no longer "PORTS (COM & LPT) in Device Manager as a category to expand and view the status of the different PORTS.  This feature appeared, but now does not work.  Traffic on the previous question is of no help.  Brand-new thougts?

    Hi John,.

Thanks for posting your question on the forum of the Microsoft community.

I would like to know some information about the problem so that we can help you better.

    1. have you done any hardware or software changes to your computer?
    2. What is the brand and model of your computer?

I would suggest trying the following methods and check if it helps.

    Method 1:
Please follow these steps to display hidden devices.

    a. Click Start and type cmd in the start search box.

    b. right click on cmd and select run as administrator.

    c. in the command prompt window, type the following command and press ENTER.

    Set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices = 1

    d. type the following command at the command prompt and press ENTER.

    Start devmgmt.msc

This action opens the Device Manager. Now you can check if the device appears in Device Manager.

If this does not help, then use method 2.

    Method 2:
Check in the BIOS (embedded devices) if the COM ports are enabled and set to "auto".

Note: Change to the BIOS/complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

Then, if the problem persists, use method 3.

    Method 3:
Please install the driver manually and check.

In order to change the hardware parameters, you should contact your hardware vendor. Microsoft will not be able to help you change the hardware settings.

  • Satellite Pro L10 problem with Ports COM/Hyperterminal & Bluetooth

    Hello
I have the following problems with the above machine:

    (1) I have attached an external series COM port to the machine. However, I can not connect to the COM Port using Hyperterminal.
    (2) I installed a Bluetooth USB adapter, but I can't view the protocol configuration.

Each of the above works perfectly with another laptop that doesn't have a Bluetooth or even a network card.

Everyone has experienced similar problems. I use WinXP SP2.

    Thank you

    MC

    Hello

1, in which is the external COM port connected? Is detected in a straight path in Device Manager? What is the error msg to Hyperterminal?
When connected via PCMCIA, try to change the settings for PCMCIA slot in the BIOS!

2, try to reinstall the Toshiba Bluetooth stack! There may be some problems. The MS Bluetooth stack does not work properly with the Toshiba devices and one of the earlier Toshiba Bluetooth stack is not signed by Windows XP Service Pack 2!

  • Question about port COM on Satellite P30

    Hello

    I have the Satellite P30.

I am trying to connect a GPS to the laptop.
    Write GPS on COM Port - COM1 - COM5

The laptop had only USB and no COM port.
Is it possible to attach a laptop COM port?

    Thank you

    Clive

Do you mean the real com ports or virtual COM ports?

However, I guess that this device can be connected to a USB port and then a virtual COM port will be created.
In this case the drivers must be installed provided with this device.

  • Re: How to change port COM on Equium A200 numbers?

I have a satellite receiver and I use to update its software with a serial cable connected to my old desktop computer. There is a program that you run on the desktop that allows you to transfer information, with an option to choose the appropriate COM port (from 1 to 4).

I am trying to run the same program on my new laptop SATELLITE A200. I use a series USB converter to connect to one of the 2 USB ports on the laptop. Unfortunately, the program does not recognize the USB ports as being COM 1-4 (I think that when I plugged in the USB cable, a message appeared briefly say COM 5).

Anyone know where are COM 1-4 and if it is possible to configure one of the USB ports for the COM 2 (which is what the old serial port was on my old desktop).

    Hello

Which series converter do you use? Was there a software with it (I Don t mean the driver software, more a few separate request or something similar)?

Usually, you should be able to change the assignment of the serial ports by going into Device Manager, looking for the COM ports and changing the assignment. I would... :)

Just follow my advice and search for COM ports in Device Manager.
Otherwise, return to the forum and we will discuss this problem.

    Welcome them

  • How to completely control the PORTS COM of BT?

This is related to several versions of the Toshiba, but in this case, it is with 5.10.14FP1, installed on a Windows Vista.

When you start the Bluetooth local COM-Port-Control Panel, the list is filled with eight COM ports:

COM10 exchanger information Toshiba BT Port (COM10)
Com11 exchanger information Toshiba BT Port (COM11)
COM12 exchanger information Toshiba BT Port (COM12)
COM13 exchanger information Toshiba BT Port (COM13)
COM14 exchanger information Toshiba BT Port (COM14)
COM20 HSP Toshiba BT Port (COM20) Manager
Com21 Toshiba BT Port (COM21) HSP Manager
COM22 Manager of HSP Toshiba BT Port (COM22)

If I try to delete one of the existing COM ports tells me that it is created by Information interchange or Manager of HSP.
And if I add other com ports to the BT stack, they seem to count for COM40.

However, I need to be able to fully control port numbers the specific COM assigned to different interfaces I add... and I most certanly didn't eight predefined ports.

So, I have the following questions:
    (1) how to remove eight predefined ports?
    (2) how to change the com ports new I add to use COM1 and beyond. (No, port settings normal in the hardware control panel is not an option that is not there).

I look forward to your reply...

    Daigoro.

First of all I think that it is not a good idea to delete COM ports that are used for communication. If the services according to will not work afterwards. You can of course create new server COM ports if necessary and also configure client COM ports to fit your needs. Just use the custom instead of Express Mode Mode configuration wizard. Now you can determine what COM port should be used for your device. COM1 is often already used by the system, for example the built-in modem, so make sure that it's free!
The tool you are talking about is also available in VISTA. See "Control Panel-> control home Panel-> hardware and sound-> Bluetooth Local COM" for her.

  • Someone has a vi for LCD with port COM for SBRIO

    Hi people,

I have a SBRio-Board and you want to drive a LCD on the COM-port.

    Is this possible?

Someone has a vi to do this.

I know, it's possible with FPGA lines, but is not the normal/best way COM port?

    Greetings, Ruedi

If you look on the LabVIEW tools network and search for LCD a few possibilities appear.  http://www.ni.com/np/app/main/p/bot/no/ap/lvtn/lang/en/pg/1/sn/n25:software, n21:28/sb/default /? q = LCD

It is said expressly in the box to Reach tools that it is via RS - 232 interface.  Although not your specific device would it be worth the trip.

Its interesting that I would have liked to have a few years on a project using a touch screen of Reach.

There is also an example here http://www.ni.com/example/31079/en/.

I hope that this will help.

  • lack of port com & Red Cross sign to the MAX (device in unknown state? offline)

    Hello world

I have three serial ports on our lab computers, one is the default on the motherboard port, and two others are usb connectors of the series. The problem is the default com1 serial port has a cross write in MAX and two other serial ports are missing. All serial ports displayed correctly in windows XP Device Manager and in the register too. The version of labview is 8.5.1 with NI-visa 4.4. See attached photos.

I have many hours of research and have not found a clue. Please help me.

    Thank you!

    Hello

Have you tried clicking the button solve the problems in the device status section? It is the first time that you have connected these devices to your computer, and you can see the virtual com ports on another computer in the laboratory?

  • Need to identify the designation of port COM through BACK...

I'm editting a program that sends and receives information to a device via a USB - serial adapter. Previously, the program has been run only on one pc which always use the same COM port when the device is connected. Scripts used with this program have been written to always specify this port. After having taken the device and connected to another pc, the pc allocates another COM port - this is a relatively easy task for me to go through the device management and identify the appropriate COM port, modify the script and get the device communicates with the pc. HOWEVER, in the future, communication must be maintained between the device and a laptop with any user.

The program you are using may open a windows command prompt and run DOS commands. If possible, I would like to help you find a way to use BACK to identify the COM port used by the USB adapter so I can assign this port number for a variable to be used in scripts, creating their infallible to any user.

    Thanks for your time,

    Chris

  • Output Multipal Modem and Ports Com Usbs without deleting the driver...

In my laptop I don't connect to many cell phones, now my problem is my Ports none is going too far and I do not use affected old Ports so I tried to find Solution on Web... I Manage to find Solution but I stuck when it comes to too many Ports... I want to release too many Ports in a short way.

What I find Solution on the Web...

Run elevated command line Device Manager:

    > set DEVMGR_SHOW_NONPRESENT_DEVICES=1
    > devmgmt.msc

Turn on "Show hidden devices" in the menu and uninstall gray COM ports.

After the display of hidden devices, it's hard to uninstall devices one by one... I want to erase a single Type of devices in a single order without deleting driver device because my goal is to free Ports as much as Possible without removing the device driver...

    Hello

Currently, removing the devices in the Device Manager is possible, one device at a time. This is because each device has its own corresponding entries in the system files and registry.

    Kind regards.

  • USB to serial port, Com port to use.

I have Windows 7 64 bit Ultimate, evga 58 MB Intel i7 950 3.06 GHz, 6 GB ram, many locations for usb. I have a weather station "Oregon Scientific WMR968, I plugged my XP PC via a"usb to serial"cable, it worked well, giving me a com port to use for the software, but it does not work with Windows 7. It installs an input usb device, under the label HID, but not a COM port I have tried many drivers, but she finished in the same way, "peripheral usb entry" NOT a COM port I have tried to install .inf and who does not work either. I tried to update driver, and then point to the .inf and still no good. How to do this job, please. ?
    Frustrated,
    Robert

    Hi Androman,

First of all I suggest you to check if the Oregon Scientific WMR968 is compatible with windows 7 or not.

Check out the link given below to the windows Compatibility Center 7.
    http://www.Microsoft.com/Windows/compatibility/Windows-7/en-us/default.aspx

If it is not compatible with Windows 7, then install the drivers in XP sp2 compatibility mode and also to contact the manufacturer for drivers that are updated that are compatible with windows 7.

Select the option for windows XP sp2 and install the drivers.
