No preferred wireless networks

I can't connect to my home on my 8 because windows network that he keeps saying that I have no preferred networks even if my wifi works on other devices. How can I fix it?

Hello

Thanks for posting your query on the Microsoft Community.

This problem can occur because of network settings.

I would be grateful, if you can provide us with the following information to help us better understand the issue:

  • This work has been much earlier on this computer?
  • What is the brand and model of your system?

I suggest you to follow the below methods and check.

    Hello

I installed Build 7100 and have been finding problems in all directions. Is it the right place to report issues? The dev team will never receive any comments posted here?

I have a specific problem that is driving me crazy and if it is not sorted there is no way I will buy Windows 7 when it is released. Whenever I reboot or exit the mode 'sleep' my wireless network was disconnected. The problem is that it automatically reconnect. In fact when I try a reconnection he asks me the password all over again as if she had never met before network. In addition, I have try three or four times before it connects without error. The network is also extremely stable and was under XP.

The Troubleshoot utility of reports "You have no preferred wireless networks", which is false, because I connect automatically is always checked for this SSID. I tried which allows to 'Connect even if the network is not broadcasting its name (SSID)', but this option is reset after reboot / sleep. "Connect automatically" is still however verified. Installed with the driver is REALTEK USB Wireless LAN Utility Version 402.1470.518.2007.

I fear that such problems will not get noticed at Microsoft because they are now focusing only on telemetry. I want to buy Windows this time, I don't really, but I won't buy a defective product.

I connect to the Router 1 billion (BiPAC 7401VGP R3) with a USB (BiPAC 3012 G) wireless network adapter.

    Hi Vargorlopano,

Thanks for posting on the Forum of answers.

Some network cards have to be able to save the settings that will put your NIC sleep when Windows goes to sleep.

You can click Start, type "power options" then right click on the entry that is displayed at the top of the menu and click on "Run as Administrator".
Your password can be asked to you.
On the right side of the window, click on "Change plan settings", then click on "change power avancΘs."
You should see an entry in the list that says 'wireless adapter settings', change it to 'Performance', and click OK.
    Click on save changes.

Please let us know if that helps.

  • Add a preferred wireless network

I want to configure the wireless preferred networks on a pool of 25 computers at once while no users of the console/GUI/admin is entered, that is to say the computers are provisioned waiting on the registration screen. All computers are properly configured for access "remote management".

I'm looking for something in Apple Remote Desktop to add some favorite wireless networks with the terminal command "networksetup" to these remote computers

    I got the terminal command:

    sudo networksetup - addpreferredwirelessnetworkatindex en0 ssid 0 wpa2 password

    Any help?

    Hi basil,

-Something that should work can use the ARD from the Mac Admin officer, to run ssh sessions by officials of the ARD on clients, and then run the Terminal command.

-J' used a script like this before restart locked ARD Agents on clients via ssh.  No GUI sessions running on the clients.

The script Unix in ARD would be similar to:

    for N in 'client1.local' 'client2.local' 'clientn.local '.

    do

    {

    SSH '$N' 'sudo networksetup - addpreferredwirelessnetworkatindex en0 ssid 0 wpa2 password.

    }

    fact

-The script is run using an adminuser which is available on each client with ssh keys setup (no password) and an entry in/etc/sudoers so the sudo command prompts nor a password.

-L'adminuser can be activated for this task in a separate script:

    Disable: chsh s operation adminuser

    Administer enable: chsh-s/bin/bash

    hope this helps, dwbrecovery

  • MacMini don't auto connect to the preferred wireless network when the router reboots

My MacMini is located to join my favorite wifi network. Where I stay, there is usually a power failure close to a minute or two during the day.

My setup is such that my MacMini running 24 x 7 with a backup uninterruptible but my router (AirPort Express) turns off during the power outage. When the router goes off, my Mac disconnects from the network which should, but now when my router turns, the MacMini reconnect to the preferred network.

It shows the network preferred list, and when I manually click on this subject, it reconnects immediately without asking for password. But this will not happen automatically.

If I restart my MacMini it reconnects very well. The problem occurs only when my MacMini is but my router restarts.

To reproduce this problem on your side, just turn off your router and once your Mac disconnects from the network back on the router. See if your mac reconnects to your wifi fine.

Any solution or advice for this problem?

    Thank you.

Please test after taking each of the steps that you have not already tried it. Stop when the problem is resolved. Back up all data before making any changes.

    1. If possible, test at another network, such as a public access point or hotspot created by a mobile phone. Some Wi - Fi routers are not fully compatible with Apple devices. More specifically, the security mode for the network, as shown in the network preferences window, should be 2 personal WPA or WPA 2 Enterprise. If the router doesn't support either of these modes, it should be replaced with another.

    2. make sure that the network is on the list of favorites by following these instructions. It is important to read the article, as it is the starting point for further efforts to solve the problem. If you skip any step, the problem cannot be resolved. Make sure that the box marked

Remember this computer has joined the network

    is checked.

3 follow the instructions in this article to support.

    4. reset the PRAM.

    5. take note of all your parameters of connection Wi - Fi in the network preferences pane, then remove the connection in the connection list and re-create it with the same settings. This by clicking on the icon of the lowest sign from the list of connection, select Wi - Fi as the interface in the form that opens. Select join the other network in the network name menu, then select your network. Enter the password when you are prompted, and then save it in the keychain.

    6. in the menu location at the top of the network preferences window, select Edit locations. A sheet will fall. Click on the plus sign to create a new location. Give it the name of your choice. In the new location, set up the Wi - Fi service with the same settings that you used before. Click on apply and test.

    7. run the Keychain Access application. Find and remove all the network password AirPort elements that refer to the network. Make a note of the password first.

8 turn off the Bluetoothand the test.

    9. reset the system management controller.

    10. This step should not be necessary, but he has been advised by the Apple Support in some cases, apparently as a solution for a bug. Open the energy saving pane in system preferences. If necessary, click the lock icon in the lower left corner to unlock the settings. When prompted, enter your administrator login password.

Select the Power Adapter tab and uncheck the boxes marked

Continued access to the Wi - Fi network

    and

    Enable the NAP...

If it is present. Then, if the computer is a MacBook, select the stack tab and uncheck the box

    Enable the NAP...

    11. reinstall OS X.

  • Wireless network does not work when I put a password

Well actually, I use a wireless network at home, and when I try to put a password, it won't let me connect to the internet, but my xbox connect when there is a password there and other laptops don't. When I try to connect by using a non-secure network it connects to the internet, but on any other laptop but mine it asks me to set up the connection, while on my laptop, it goes straight to a connection.

If you guys can offer me a solution to this problem, I would be very grateful

    Hi Sh4dow,

You can check out the following link and check if it helps:

    View your preferred wireless networks

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/view-your-preferred-wireless-networks

You can also temporarily disable the security software and firewall installed on the system and check if the problem persists. If this resolves the problem, then you may need to update or change the settings of the security software.

Note: Be sure to enable the security software on the computer after checking.

    Hope this information is useful.

  • By selecting automatically to a specific wireless network

My computer connects to another network other than mine wireless regularly, and then I have to change the network manually.

I can force my computer to logon to a specific network?

    Thank you

    Doug

    Hello

In fact, you can change the order in which your computer connects to networks, drag the networks upwards or downwards in the list of wireless networks. To change preferences for the network, right-click the network, and then click Properties.

As you mentioned that your computer connects to another network, this problem may occur if one of the following is true.

    1. your computer is located between two networks that you have connected to before.

To resolve this situation, you can do the following:

    (1) move your computer to one of the networks. With the access points or routers 802.11 g and 802. 11 b, is the maximum range of up to 150 feet (46 m) indoors and 300 feet (92 meters) outdoors. With 802. 11A routers and access points, the maximum range is 50 feet (15 meters) indoors and 100 feet (30 meters) outdoors. These ranges are in optimal conditions without interference. Keep in mind when deciding where to locate your computer.

    (2) turn off the automatic passage in one or two network profiles. Please follow the steps:

    a. Click here to open manage wireless networks.

    b. right-click on the network profile that you want to disable the automatic switching, and then click Properties.

    c. click the tab connection, clear the connect to a network more preferred if possible check box, and then click OK.

2 If a network on your list of preferred wireless networks the same SSID as another network that is in range of your computer, Windows might try to switch between the two routers or access points because they feel that they are on the same network. This can happen in places such as apartment buildings or neighborhoods where people have the same network hardware and have not changed the default settings.

To resolve this issue, give a unique SSID in your router or access point. See the documentation provided with the device to find out how to change the SSID.

    3. in the meantime, please visit the help and Support Windows for more information.

  • Connection to the wireless network trouble at the start of Windows 7

I have configured my computer will automatically connect to my home network, but at the start, it aims rather to connect to 'SoftAP-C0', a network with zero signal strength that probably belongs to one of my neighbors. It is impossible to connect and displays "waiting for users ' instead of 'connected' or 'disconnected '. I then have to disconnect this network manually connect to my network home and enter the security key. Because my computer never gets to actually connect to the network SoftAP, I can't access the configuration window to disable the automatic connection (if it is still what makes my computer trying to connect to it in the first place.) Is there another way to access its configuration (otherwise than through the network and sharing Center)?

    Hello

You can see a list of available wireless networks and then connect to one of those networks, no matter where you are. The wireless networks appear only if your computer has a wireless network adapter and driver installed and the adapter is turned on.

If you want Windows to ask permission before attempting to connect to a wireless access point, you can Turn off wireless on the laptop.

You can have a switch on the laptop turns off the same. Turning off Wireless is specific to the model of the laptop.

You can follow the links below to set up your preferred networks.

  • JournE Air 801 not finding Wireless Networks

My 801 Air could see my wireless network when I first turned on. I had trouble getting security WPA2 to work so I reset the default 801 by using the reset on the device.

Now I am unable to find wireless networks.

Any ideas how I can get my 801 on wireless networks?

    Thanks for your help/advice.

    Hello

Are you sure that the Wifi is enabled in the settings of Air 801?
Usually the WiFi icon should be visible in the upper left corner, if the WiFi network has been activated.

I downloaded the manual for Air 801 (European Toshiba page-> support) and download-> user manual. On page 42, you will find all the details on the networks.

You can use the Wifi protected Setup. It is the best way to connect to the network.
-Select Wifi protected setup and press OK
-Press the wps button on your router wlan and press ok to continue
-Press exit to return to the previous page.

Then use the Wifi Wizard to detect and connect to the WLan router in your region.
    -wifi select Assistant
-Press on top and down to select your preferred router
-Press OK to confirm your selection
    -Enter the password router e

You can also use the advanced configuration
To do this, check the user manual!

  • OfficeJet Pro 8625: HP8625 sleep mode/wireless network connectivity

I recently bought an OfficeJet Pro 8625 and it worked fine for a few days, with everyone in the House, being able to print wireless connection network (Verizon FIOS via an Airport base station).  However, now it won't keep (or restore) a Wi - Fi connection after going to sleep.

I can get the printer to work, if I turn it works, then immediately print (but only one machine... If I need to print from two different computers, I have to restart again to use the second computer).

This is the case for all computers in my house - using several OS X (El Capitan, Mavericks and Snow Leopard) and the other with Windows 10.  I tried the troubleshooting tips that I could locate, and the firmware is up to date.

I should be able to send a document to the printer from anywhere in the House, from any computer, without walking to the printer and restart it first.  A network printer should be sprained able himself, reconnect to the wifi and print jobs sent to it, but mine doesn't.

How can I solve this problem?

These settings are to set up your wireless printer to stay connected to your router, wireless devices stay better connected and makes your router secure and hack proof.

While the DHCP is convenient, devices like printers must always be assigned an IP (fixed) manually to avoid conflicts on your wireless network.

    1. Set a static in the printer IP address (click here) outside the range of the DHCP of the router (check your manual). It is for Linksys routers, but can be used for all routers. Check your DHCP range and change this first if necessary. More Help Wireless Printing is here (Windows solution 4, static IP).
    2. Or check in the printer "Auto off" is disabled the System Mode Time Out is set to zero (0) Use the built-in webserver (EWS) by visiting the printer address IP address in the address bar of your browser, click on settings tab/Auto Off. Or use the printer, printer Home Page (EWS) Wizard. Also check the properties of your printers.
    3. If the printer supports and has IPv6 enabled, disable the IPv6 option in the printer.
    4. If necessary and you have assigned a static IP address, try using auxiliary for the preferred DNS Server 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 as DNS server.
    5. Wireless printers work only on the 2.4 Ghz band.
    6. Make sure the printer is on the latest firmware by checking with the HP support site.
    7. Check all devices wireless in your home for interference. Check microwave, babyphones, phones, wireless and wireless alarm systems are a big culprit. Any of these will knock at your printer wireless intermittently.
    8. Make sure that your printer and router are at least 6 feet, independently of the other.

In the router: (refer to the manual of your router for more information)

    1. Use a fixed wireless channel as the 1, 6 or 11, never 'auto', try channel 1 first then the rest.
    2. Set the router to 20 Mhz only or 145Mbps router function.
    3. Always use WPA2-AES encryption (personal), but you can try the "mixed" mode
    4. Disable the WPS and never use it and disable the UPnP for the security of routers. No one can hijack your system now and help with wireless connectivity (if you want to know why, research on the web).
    5. If you have a router dual band (2.4 Ghz and 5.0 Ghz bands), make sure the SSID is NOT identical, they must be different for all the bands, even for networks without comments.
    6. SSID broadcast should be enabled.
    7. Save all the settings. Food at the same time, wait 2 minutes.  Power on router wait 2 minutes.
    8. Marketing the printer and check that it reconnects to the router.

Windows 7/8/8.1 is discovered the system on or off?

    1. Control Panel/Network and Internet/network and sharing Center / advanced sharing settings.
    2. Under home or work (current profile) / network discovery.
    3. Select "Turn on network discovery" and save the changes.

Now last thing to do once everything above has been tried and you still have the same problem, completely uninstall and delete the printer and its software.

Use http://www.iobit.com/en/advanceduninstaller.php and powerful Scan at the end.

Now go back and reinstall the drivers and full software on the HP website.

Last resort effort - if your printer has an Ethernet connection, suggest you to get some adapters line and convert your Ethernet wiring for your printer.

  • Unable to connect to my wireless network

I recently discovered that my wifi for vista would not connect to the internet even if the signal is 100% solid.

My wireless House has a WEP encryption and it has already been saved on the laptop but since yesterday it ask me the WEP key when I try to connect it and wouldn't connect even if only the WEP pass has been entered correctly. The message that usually appears at the end is "windows is unable to connect, try the other network", even when I tried my companion's unsecured network.

Here's what I did so far, but without success...

I checked the Wireless driver from Device Manager and it works properly. I even try to update the driver and received a message that the driver is 2-update.

Have you tried to reset the router? Unplug the AC adapter from the router, wait 5 or 10 minutes and then try again.

I was finally able to solve this problem and I posted the results on another forum, I used for this purpose.  Here is the text exactly as I posted on the other forum.  It answers some of your questions.
Regarding other software that manages the wireless card, Yes, there are (Atheros), he was not managing the adapter (off a long time ago), however, to be sure, I removed it to run in the registry.

Here is the text of how I solved the problem, I mentioned.  If you have more questions, feel free to post them.

    *****

I am just posting this here because I could solve the problem and not able to find a reliable source on the internet on a fix for this and for a problem that is the result of my attempts to fix it.

This is the situation and my landline.

I was getting this error message

    "Impossible to migrate dependent packages.

After trying to install a pacakage KB. It did not matter that one but they have been associated with the Wireless settings.

I continued to try to install the newer packages.
    KB893357
    KB917021
    KB918997

Each gave me the same message

    "Impossible to migrate dependent packages.

I read online that I install KB937143 (update IE7) could help.

I did this and still got the same message on dependent modules.
I also had another problem occur.
In the section my network places properties connection wireless adapters, whenever I clicked the Add button / PROPERTIES without window appears to allow me to change the settings, however, I was able to remove items from the preferred networks window.

My Automatic Configuration Service wireless is running and took Windows to configure my wireless settings.

I downloaded the updates for my driver Wlan (WiFiHP 500) and I still had the same problems.

I restarted KB918997 using the/log option and read the log file. This is the last important lines:

    33.849: MigrateHotfix: hotfix migration KB937143
    34.129: migrating QFE KB937143 with command line: update.exe z q - B: sp2qfe
    36.783: failed 1603 Update.exe.
    36.793: MigrateHotfixes: KB937143 Migration failed
    36.793: DoInstallation: Migration failed
36.933: failed to migrate dependent packages.
39.597: message displayed to the user: cannot migrate dependent packages.

I then uninstalled the KB937143 package and reinstalled KB918997 update with the newspaper of Pétion and he went along. I also tested the buttons add and PROPERTIES in the window of Favorites and those networks worked too.

I checked the logfile KB918997 and he showed this:
42.311: MigrateHotfix: hotfix migration KB932168 have
    42.511: migrating QFE KB932168 have with the command line: update.exe z q - B: sp2qfe
88.768: MigrateHotfix: Hotfix KB932168 successfully migrated
    88.768: MigrateHotfixes: return code: 3010
    88.928: DoInstallation: Migration succeeded

As a side note, I restarted the laptop frequently just to be sure.

So, really, the option of running with the Ko log file helped me diagnose the problem.

  • Using Zyxel wireless network configuration

Using Panel to have Windows configure my system to use a wireless connection to internet via Zyxel USB. Using Windows options, network, Network Setup and configuration of wireless network connection me don't upset none the case. I understand there is a way that Windows will automatically connect. I need to update my Windows? I would like assistance. Bill

    Thanks for the information.

No, you don't need an update.

I do not understand your answer to no. 5, in particular "the material was not recognized by Windows, it requires a manual boot without Windows manages the connection of the device to the router."

In Windows, there are basically two ways that a wireless adapter can be controlled.  Windows can control the unit by using a feature called 'Wireless Zero Configuration' or a utility provided by the manufacturer of the card.  As a general rule, you want one or the other - not both active at the same time.

If the icon you are referencing is a 'Z' in a box (http://tinyurl.com/cjn3mje), then the Zyxel utility is in charge.   Which is perfectly OK (and probably provides more features than Windows WZC), but I'm not familiar with the details of using the Zyxel utility.  If you identify the model of your adapter, I can see if I can find his online user manual, and explain the steps you need to take

If you use the Zyxel or Windows WZC utility, you must take the basic steps are the same:

    1. search for available wireless networks.
    2. identify your network in the list that is displayed (this is your SSID or 'Network name')
    3. click on "sign in".
    4. Enter the encryption password when you are prompted.

Did you do the above?  That's happened?

    Additional information:

Windows WZC automatically saves the connection (SSID and password) information once you connect successfully.  I don't know if the Zyxel utility done automatically or if you explicitly save a 'profile' with the data.

Any utility that you use, you must know the SSID of your router and the password for the encryption.  Verizon technology that installed your router should provide you with this information.  It can also be written on a label on the bottom of the router.

If you do not have - or lost - this information, you can find it by connecting to the router.  Preferably, you should do this using an Ethernet cable - assuming you can get your computer back close enough to the router.  You will need to know the name of user and password to connect to the router.  Again, Verizon technology would have to provide this information for you.

As far as I can determine '20.10.7' is the revision number of the firmware of your router.  I believe - but am not sure - that the user guide is here--> http://www.actiontec.com/support/doc_files/MI424WR_Rev._E&F_User_Manual_20.10.7_v1_GPL.pdf

Windows remembers the connection details after making a wireless connection with success.  If you don't want your guests to be able to connect to your network without asking next time they visit, you will have to change the password of your router.

If your guests are cooperative, they can remove the details of the connection on their own computer as follows:

    • Open network connections (start > run > ncpa.cpl OK)
    • Right-click on the wireless network icon
    • Select Properties
    • Select the wireless networks tab
    • In the list of "Preferred networks", select the SSID of your router (network name)
    • Click on delete

Not only is much to ask to your guests, but they might just remember or write your network password, even if they remove from their computers.

  • Key change for an existing XP wireless network

I am running Windows XP.  I needed to change the key for my wireless network.  He's changed on my router and my iPad & Windows 7 laptop computer can connect to it.  I can not find the screen on my XP machine, which allows me to change the key.  Can someone tell me where to find it?

What version of XP, including service pack (if of course, start > run > winver > OK)?

    • Open network connections (start > run > ncpa.cpl > OK)
    • Right-click on the icon for your wireless adapter and select Properties.
    • Click the "Wireless Networks" tab
    • You should look at this screen:   http://tinyurl.com/8lmz4
    • If you are not looking to the display shown in the screenshot or the box at the top to "Use Windows to configure my wireless network" is unchecked, STOP: you use a 3 rd-party utility to configure your wireless adapter and you need to figure out how to use that yourself or at least identification.
    • Assuming you use Windows to configure your wireless network card, find the SSID of your router (network name) in the list of preferred networks and 'delete '.
    • OK your way out.
    • Go to view available wireless networks, find yours, click connection and enter the new password when you are prompted.

Alternatively, instead of removing your network in the list of preferred networks, you can click 'Properties' and then change the key in the tab "Association."  I suggest that you remove the network and let Windows find just in case something other that the key has been changed (for example, the type of encryption or algorithm).
