No sound on Satellite A80 speakers

I recently bought a 2nd hand computer Satellite A80 laptop and after I reinstalled Windows XP Pro with SP3 and the audio driver downloaded from Toshiba Download Center, the sound in the speaker panel is very soft and I mean really really sweet until you would think that there is no sound at all. You must listen very carefully next to the speaker and cannot hear a very slight hum (2% of the sound) when I tried to play an mp3.

If I tried with headphones, I can hear the sound, although I expect to be stronger.
The sound is not mute and all audio drivers in the hardware configuration shows the drivers are working properly.

I tried uninstalling the driver, restart the computer laptop and installed the latest Realtek AC 97 driver downloaded from Realtek, and the problem is always the same.
I even tried to use the Toshiba Recovery disk to restore the entire system to Windows Home Edition, still no difference.

Anyone know what could be the problem?
Appreciate the help I tried to solve the problem for 2 days.

Hello

In the worst cases, the internal speakers are defective and must be replaced :(

But have you tried to update the BIOS? Check the Toshiba site for an update.
Before you start the update you must close all running programs as your antivirus and firewall software.

Normally, you can change the volume in Control Panel > his and with the volume control on the front of the laptop.

Good bye

  • He can not find the sound controls for Satellite A80?

Hi, Im a very recent user of a satellite A80, it only 4 days, I played a cd and could not find a graphic equalizer or sound. I enter the area of assistance to Toshiba, but it would not allow me to change the bass and treble, can someone help me with this.
The cd automatically plays in Windows media player, is there a special program, already installed on the hard disk, CD, or is Windows media player should I use?
    Thanks in advance,
    Deb

    Hi Deb,

You don't say what version of Windows Media Player you have. However, there will be a graphic equalizer option somewhere, but it can be well hidden.

I recommend you to download the latest version from the Microsoft Web site.

The graphic equalizer WMP V9 is available by clicking on an icon in the small window at the bottom left of the screen (if you move the pointer above it is called ' select now playing Options ") which gives a drop-down menu on which the third element is called IMPROVEMENTS. This will be expanded to show the graphic equalizer.

Of course, you can use other software to read CDs. If you right-click on the CD-ROM item in your workstation
you will be able to define which program you want to use to play CDs.

  • Sound appear through the speakers connection adapter to Satellite P300

I have a Satellite P300 and every time that I conect the connector AC/DC for power I hear a sound in the headphones or the speakers.

This sounds like a terrible sound and I use the p300 to work with sound and I need help to lose this sound.

    Can anyone help me?

    Hello

It's very strange. Are you sure that the sound comes from the speakers and not AC/DC adapter?

For me, it sounds like a hardware problem, but before moving on to an authorized service provider be sure that the latest version of the BIOS is installed. You can download it on the Toshiba site.

If it doesn't work you should contact an ASP. The technician can check this.

  • Satellite A80 lost all sounds

    Hi, can anyone help?

My Satellite A80 seems to have lost all sound. When I open the audio program I get a message saying that no device found? I had her before without problem?

If you are able to help at all, I would be very grateful. My email address is [email protected].

    Thank you.

First of all, you should try to remove you sound driver should and then reinstall again.

On the Toshiba page, you will find the compatible driver.

The question remains then you should recover the laptop with the Toshiba Recovery CD.

Usually, if your notebook malfunction s material doesn t then a recovery CD should solve this problem.
Otherwise, the hardware may be faulty and the laptop everything should be checked by technicians.

  • Satellite C660 - no sound headphones but through speakers - Win7

I know that many people here have the same problem, but so far I have found no solution.
My sound card is a Realtek. After you have reinstalled Windows 7 I have no sound on my headset so that I have some of my speakers.

As soon as I connect the headphones, the Realtek Manager appears and I choose headphones but if I press the 'Test' button there is no sound and no sound if I play music.
Any des/re-reinstalling drivers does not fix.

I should mention that my headset works perfectly with Ubuntu. The input jack is good.
In "Playback devices" icon of sound control, the entry "Speakers" "puts in default" in gray.

    Many thanks for any help.

    Kind regards.

    > As soon as I connect the headphones, the Realtek Manager appears and I choose the headphones, but if I press the 'Test' button there is no sound and no sound if I play music.

Go to the dashboard-> Realtek HD audio manager

Here, you should see the speakers on the tab. Click on the yellow folder in the upper right.
Ensure that the option disable front jack detection is NOT checked.
Also check out the option down called enable auto popup dialogue box
[Screenshot of audio driver Realtek HD | https://itpendium.files.wordpress.com/2009/05/14-realtek-hd-audio-manager-big.jpg]

By the way: in the control panel-> sound-> reading tab right click and mark both options see the disabled devices, show hidden devices
Now, you should also see the headset plug. In case it has been disabled, you could make it active.

  • Satellite L755 - sound stops on the speakers (helmets of work)

    Hello world
    I'm a strange problem
When I'm watching a video or game
the sound just stops (internal speakers), but when I plug my headphones, the sound works
By the way, here's a shot that I took while I couldn't hear anything from my internal speakers

I installed the latest driver for the NVIDIA graphics I also reinstalled windows but the same problem still
I tried everything literally: System Restore; flashed the BIOS to 3.60. updated all my drivers. reinstalled Windows; tried to unravel a possible conflict with other devices or Audio HD Nvidia device; tried to disable the HD Audio from Nvidia; and also tried uninstall Conexant SmartAudio HD, which allows Windows to install default device HD Audio but it only made it worse

my laptop is a toshiba l755

    > the sound just stops (internal speakers), but when I plug my headphones, the sound works

Not quite sure this topic but it seems to me a bad functioning of the speaker.
But to be honest, that it's just a hypothesis, its strange sounds to me that the sound is coming through the headset correctly but speakers don t work so I guess that the speakers can be affected.

  • Satellite A80 - after sound upgrade code only RAM

    Hello

Just tried to update my RAM of the original 512 MB to 2 GB but now empty black screen and beep code: triple - single - triple - single
I have downloaded and run the upgrade of BIOS from the toshiba site - but no change. I also tried to install the RAM 1 GB at a time, but no difference.

    Can anyone help?

    Thank you

    Hello

Use you to upgrade 2 GB RAM a module or two 1 GB modules?
What are the exact specifications of the RAM? You should check if they are compatible with the laptop.

I checked the Satellite A80 manual and it can be upgraded to 2 GB of RAM. Therefore, you can use two modules of 1 GB with PC2100 DDR - RAM specification.
    Check this box!

Also two identical modules must be installed to avoid compatibility problems.
I have good experiences with the Kingston modules.

  • Satellite A505-S6973 - no sound from my laptop speakers

I have an A505-S6973 and today I lost volume on my speakers. When I took my headphones, I hear, but without the headset is plugged in, I have no sound from my laptop speakers.

I checked the Manager of devices for software problems but everything is erased, also, my volume is completely on.

I tried a restore, but in vain, as I tried to uninstall and reinstall the extra value package but when you try to run the software after extraction it an error [0x8146045B] reports itself.

This morning, everything seemed to work fine, the only thing I can think, I removed my places of sharing network of windows media.

If that's the culprit can someone guide me on how I can re - install. In addition, value added package question, is there something that can be done, because the buttong enable/disable touchpad when press nothing happens, but if I use the function with F9 key it activates / deactivates.

I really hope someone can help me, apparently, that it is an unlucky weekend for me.

  • How to improve the speakers and the quality of the sound on Satellite C850-1GL

just bought a Toshiba C850-1GL, very happy with it, except for the sound quality, any suggestions on how this can be improved before I go and buy external speakers...?

AFAIK you can't do much. This laptop has standard stereo speakers and not high quality Harman/kardon as some other models, so if you want to have good and brilliant sound, you need external speakers.

  • Satellite A80-154: Questions on BIOS/cooling

    Dear Sir or Madam,

I recently bought a Satellite A80 154 of the German retailer "Media Markt" for only EUR 1299,-.

Although the general impression of the laptop is fine, I have two questions that make me think back to the seller. The questions are:

    (1) cooling system is too strong, in particular Linux, which is my main platform. However, the problem occurs on Windows, where I am able to slow down the CPU frequency (but not GPU) with an average success in terms of reduction of sound intensity.

    (2) bios of a laptop is by Phoenix and not Toshiba, which I expect to find (it's a big problem for me, since the Linux kernel for Toshiba laptops support is much better than that of Phoenix BIOS).

    Here are my questions:

Toshiba selling different versions of the Satellite A80 154? (for example a good market with Phoenix bios and more expensive with a Toshiba bios and improved cooling). If they did, I would invest the additional EUR 300,- and buy one directly from Toshiba (if possible at all). I also ask, because I tried to update the Bios with version 1.70 - WIN (is this Toshiba BIOS?) from the BIOS download site unfortunately without success (he complains about the size of the bad bios).
Is it possible to operate an A80-154 with BIOS Toshiba (and this would reduce the level of noise)?

    Sincerely yours.
    Martin Spindler.
PS: Will to sell Toshiba laptops supports the new standard MXM in the near future?

    Hello

1, on the volume of the cooling system, I can only advice you the Toshiba Power Saver or 4.23 SPEEDFAN tool.

2, which has your BIOS model depends on the series of products. If you want a Toshiba BIOS, you must choose a laptop as the M40 Satellite, Tecra M3, Tecra A4 or Tecra M4.
You can also ask your local dealer or test it!

  • Satellite A80: How to restore the audio and video codecs?

How to restore the audio and video codecs that are installed by default on my Satellite A80 with XP Home edition?
I removed the safe mode, due to a problem with the Pinnacle Codec installed by Pinnacle Studio 10.
Now, I need to put the video standard in audio codecs.
I already downloaded the Microsoft Mediaplayer codec package and video sound new fr in Media Player.
Unfortunately I have always its program to diagnose Toshiba during the test of its Midi and Wave.
System Restore came with the message that the restoration was not possible because no changes had been made.

    Hello

Try to use the tool "system restore."
This application restores the operating system to the beginning.
    Maybe it will work.

    Hello
I have a Toshiba Satellite A80-121, and it won't work. Yesterday, worked all very well, but now it does not start.
When I press the button the button normally has a blue color, then the screen stays black, no image at all, then the fan stops. Then I got a beep every 15 seconds.

Can someone help me what is wrong?

Thank you very much for your help

    Hello!

It sounds like a hardware malfunction...
If you have installed two RAM sticks try it with a single. Check it!

I m not a technician to laptop but the problem may be with the motherboard, RAM or CPU, but this is my personal opinion.

  • Where can I find a driver for Satellite A80 169 VISTA?

    Hi all

I just installed Vista, but my sound doesn't work, because I do not have a driver for this.

Where can I find it? On the Toshiba download page, there was nothing...
My laptop is the Satellite A80-169.

    Thank you in advance,

    Anders

    Hello

Alternatively, you can get the drivers by visiting * www.realtek.com * and research his "Realtek ALC250' Vista drivers for the card. (It s the soundchip that is installed on your system)

So, your sound should work perfectly with the authentic realtek drivers.
