No USB w / Windows 7

No USB ports don't work, they can be seen in the Manager of devices, the devices and printers, but nowhere else.  Windows Explorer does not recognize them.  the system says my printer is installed, but is not visible. (For example, I can see the printer and tell her to print a test page but nothing happens and then the icon of the printer is covered by a yellow error triangle)  I checked the registry keys listed, but they all default values and I have not installed anything new, except the upgrade to Windows 7.  I have two plug-and-play and manually installed the drivers individual, but nothing has changed.  I'm running out of ideas, as have all my sources.

Please advise... I had to deal with this for months.  I do not have a restore point because they have never worked since the upgrade to windows 7.

PS After reading all the problems with usb (s) does not, this does not indicate a windows problem and should not Microsoft or HP chime in here?

I have to pay 100 dollars to have someone look at the problem... IE geek team or anyone else, but I really don't think they'll understand this is... I need someone with experience with this problem.

Never take anything for the geek team.  If you live in a place big enough to have a Best Buy, you live in a place large enough to have a real computer technicians somewhere.  To find them.

  1. If you start with a Ubuntu Live CD or USB - do you have working USB ports?
  2. Did you (or would you) make a full backup of the system?
  3. Did you run a SFC/scannow to check and repair corrupt system files?
  4. Have you checked that you have the latest card motherboard chipset drivers provided by the manufacturer of the motherboard (or the editor of the computer) web page - manually installed - by visiting the web page and the location yourself?  (This applies to every piece of hardware - particularly in your case - as you have said you updated to Windows 7, in the recent past.)
  5. What is the MODEL of the HP computer you have?

  • NI USB - 8473 Windows can't find a driver

After I installed my software CAN 2.6.1 and connect my USB device, Windows starts the Hardware Wizard but can't find the drivers for this device.  I started with 2.4 and uninstalled and reinstalled it which didn't help, and then I upgraded to 2.6.1.  This does not help either.  My impression is that it's something to do with Windows or the computer, but I thought I would ask if anyone has seen this problem before, where it's a hardware or software problem.

    Hello

Thank you for your message.  The NI-CAN driver is an INF called nican.inf.  Instead of automatically detected the driver in the new hardware wizard found, try accessing the file nican.inf.  This file is located in the following directory: C:\Program NIUninstaller Instruments\NI-CAN\staging.

If this does not work, I only run the following the link Microsoft Windows Cleanup utility and remove all records of NI-CAN of your system and then reinstall the driver once more.

  • Formatting the USB in Windows XP disk, create a folder "system volume information" How can I overcome this problem

Hello team, I tried to format my 2 GB to Format NTFS USB in WINDOWS XP. When I format the drive, it has been formatted sucssfully, but in the formatted disk, a folder is created named as 'System Volume Information '. I tried to remove my USB drive safley but it show and error as "the generic Volume is used in another program... '. ».  Why this happens, the 'System Volume Information' folder is a virus? How can I fix this problem... reply me as soon as possible... Thank you all...

    Hello

It does seem like a virus. Since you're a NTFS format, it should be a system folder. System folder is present on NTFS volumes and is used for system restore points.

If you want to remove, you may need to format the drive to FAT32.

Probably the installation media itself is corrupt. If your Alienware is preinstalled with Windows 7, then you should be able to reinstall using the recovery partition:

New computers that come pre-installed with Windows often have what is called a recovery partition. This is used to reinstall an operating system in the case of a system failure. To access it, you need to start when you start your computer by pressing a function key. This can be either F1, F2, F9, F10, F11, F12 key DEL or tab. See the manual that came with your PC for instructions on how to reinstall Windows.

To restore the image while preserving the data files:
    Turn off your computer.1.
Disconnect all devices connected to the computer (such as USB key, 2 printer and so forth) and remove any recently added hardware in-house. NOTE: Do not unplug the AC adapter cable.
    Turn on your ordinateur.3.
When the Alienware logo appears, press several times to access the 4. Advanced Boot Options window. NOTE: If you wait too long and the operating system logo appears, continue to wait until you see the Microsoft Windows desktop; then, shut down your computer and try again.
    Select 5. Repair your computer.
Select 6. AlienRespawn and backup emergency in the System Recovery Options menu and follow the instructions on the screen. NOTE: The restore process may take an hour or more depending on the size of the data to be restored. NOTE: For more information on AlienRespawn, see article 353560 at support.Dell.com knowledge base.

If the recovery partition does not work:

Step 1: Download a copy of Windows 7:

For 5 years, Microsoft made it fairly easy for users of the Windows 7 operating system to get reinstall media. If you have lost your support disc or installation retail collection; either it has been damaged or defective; You can download a copy of the edition that you have licensed from a membership site called Digital River. More recently, Microsoft ended the availability to reinstall media that you can download as a. File ISO in Digital River, which is a digital reproduction of an optical disc.

It was particularly convenient for people who could not easily get the manufacturer's recovery media, did not want to pay the fees required to get or preferred a clean configuration without the software packaged manufacturers or even a recovery partition does not work. It's easy to use, all you had to do was reinstall and reactivate using the product key located on the certificate of authenticity and download all the drivers on the manufacturers website.

Given that this option is no longer available, what are your options? See the article for more details:

How to: What are my options for Windows 7 reinstall media?

Make sure you scroll down and read the section:

What to do if you cannot get your manufacturer recovery media, refuse to use or to buy it or the Microsoft Software Recovery Website does not work?

Step 2: Perform a custom installation, see Windows 7 section of the following article how to perform a custom installation:

  • Windows 7 Retail Upgrade DVD ISO on USB or Windows 7 OEM already on USB?

    Hi all:

I just ordered one of the new generation 5 PCs NUC and up to 10 Windows comes out I would install Windows 7 HP of a retail upgrade DVD.  I have also put already HP Vista retail DVD on a bootable USB to install the first so that the upgrade will be legal.  My question is, I could use a copy of Windows 7 OEM HP already used on another PC on a USB stick and install as an upgrade to the HP Vista installed first from an another USB using the upgrade button to authenticate the OEM version?  Phew!  It was a matter of time.   It would be much easier because Windows 7 OEM on the USB key contains all the latest updates/service packs, and I wouldn't have to do a new USB boot Windows 7.

Another possible problem is that new PC NUC material can cause the initial Vista HP installation to fail?  Vista is NOT listed as an operating system supported for the 5th generation NUC PC but I hope it will at least install and work long enough to then use the Windows 7 upgrade version.   Failure... it would be legal to use the double "clean install" of Windows 7 method and then explain that I have the retail version of Vista that wouldn't install to allow legal usage of Windows 7 Upgrade version?

You will not be prompted for a product key until Setup is almost complete. The product key will be recognized.

The question may arise if the currently loaded USB driver has become unstable or damaged, or if your PC requires an update for problems that could conflict with a device USB and Windows. This can also occur if your USB controllers may have become unstable or corrupt. So, I would suggest trying the following steps and check if the problem persists.

    Method 1:

Please try the fixit (s) provided below which will help you solve common problems associated with devices and USB ports.

    Method 2:

Remove and reinstall all USB controllers.

    1. Open Manager devices by clicking the Start button, click Control Panel, click system and security, and then, under System, clicking Device Manager. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
    2. In the list of the categories of equipment, locate and expand Bus USB controllers.
    3. Right-click every device under the Bus USB controllers node and then click Uninstall to remove them one at a time.
    4. Restart the computer and let the USB controllers get reinstalled.

Plug in the removable USB device and test to make sure that the problem is solved.

If the problem persists, go to method 3.

    Method 3:

This method will install the latest drivers from device to your USB device.

    1. Click the Start button, type Windows Update in the search box, and then click Windows Update in the results pane.
    2. Click find updates. When the scan finished, click optional review updates.
    3. Click the check box next to the update, and then click install updates.
    4. If you are prompted, read the license agreement, then click I agree.
    5. Follow the instructions on the screen to download and install updates.
    6. If you are prompted, restart your computer.
