No Windows sound "Failed to Play Test Tone" error during the speaker test
I have a desktop computer with a processor Intel Core 2 Duo CPU 32 - bit Windows 7 Home Premium. It has run successfully for 2 years without any problem. Sometimes the last month the noise stopped working. When I try to configure the speakers I get the error message "Failed to play Test Tone". It was originally plugged into the sound of the motherboard, so I purchased and installed a sound card. After you have installed all the drivers, the sound still doesn't work, and I get the same error message. I went through the tutorial 'No Sound in Windows' and run the audio troubleshooter, it does not find a problem. I installed a new instance of Windows 7 on a partition on the same computer. This instance of Windows sound plays, so I know the sound card works. I think that a recent Windows Update may have caused the problem, but I can't understand that one. Does anyone have a suggestion as to what I should try next?
Thank you
I ended up reinstalling Windows. After that I did the sound came back. I look very carefully at updates and ensuring that I have a return upwards before allowing Windows updates. It was a major pain but at least my husband can now watch his videos with sound.

Since Windows 10 is a completely new operating system, the computer manufacturer might still not have designed and developed drivers for it. As suggested waiting for the manufacturer to release the necessary drivers for the hardware and then try the upgrade.

STOP: 0x000000D1 ndis.sys error during the Windows Xp Setup screen
I have a computer tailor-made with a motherboard Intel D865GLC with a p4 running at 2.5 Ghz, a western digital 200 GB HARD drive, a drive Liteon DVD - RW, this computer was recently given too me by a friend because I can not afford the newer hardware. The problem I have is when I do a clean install of windows xp, I randomly get a STOP: 0x000000D1 ndis.sys blue screen. I tried to install an upgrade of windows 98 and windows 2000, nor worked. There is no specific time that he likes to fail, but no matter what it fails, it can be just by copying the files from its installation, the network while it please help
Thanks in advance
Nate
Do not install an operating system is usually caused by (in order of probability):
1. you are trying to install with other devices connected to the computer. Unplug them before trying to make an installation.
2. "" "" defective installation media. "" Check the CD/DVD installation for scratches, tasks. Try another machine.
3. bad optical drive. Test with another CD/DVD bootable or Exchange for a well-known work.
4. faulty RAM. Test with Memtest86 + www.memtest.org . You will download the .iso image file to create a bootable cd. Burn the file with the third party burning software *-as an image, not in the form of data. Then start with the media that you did (you may need to change the boot priority in your BIOS so that the optical drive is the first boot device). The test runs immediately. The test run for an hour or two--at least that errors are seen immediately. If you get any errors, replace the RAM.
* It is not necessary to have a third party burning software in Windows 7 since Win7 natively allows to burn an .iso. Other operating systems require it. A good free choice ImgBurn comes from www.imgburn.com .
5. bad hard drive. Test with a diagnostic utility downloaded from site of the disc mftr... You create a bootable CD with the files you download. Burn the file with a third-party burning software (unless you have Windows 7, that allows to record the .isos natively) - as an image, not in the form of data. Boot with the CD that you have done and do a full test of the reader. The physical tests fail, replace it.
6. other hardware components are faulty. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

Okay so if please bear with me and be patient. I'm not tech savvy. I know enough to be able to remove an old hard drive and put another one, but when there are errors, I don't know what to do.
Here's the situation.
I have a Dell Studio XPS with Windows 7 installed. I started having these notifications that my hard drive could be a failure. I tried everything that I could find to fix it without having to buy a new HARD drive without success. The current system has a 1 TB Seagate hard drive. I installed a memory additional bar thingie right after that I got the computer about 4 years ago. (If someone tells me how to find the properties of real system, I post them if necessary). Anyway, I bought a new WD 1 TB black disk hard to install before my old dies and loses all my photos and documents, etc...
I took the old drive yesterday and installed the new hard drive. I put back the case and turned on the machine. I put in my Windows 7 installation disc. He began installing Windows 7... It's completely past the initial screen where it says it to load it and the other... I had accepted the license agreement, but did not have to make a profile and do the work and the reader. I hope all this makes sense. Then it pops up this message "installing Windows could not set up Windows on hardware on this computer." I couldn't figure out what to do from there. I got the new drive and put the old one back to and here I am. I tried to find solutions to this problem, but I either don't can't make heads or tails out of the responses on the internet or the solution is not exactly my problem.
Please help if you can! And if you have any suggestions, please dumb them down so I can understand what to do. I CAN do if loaded, you just have to not talk too irritable. Laughing out loud
Thank you in advance!
Maybe not...
The Windows installation is not happy about something, and since it gets at least started which is a good thing, but your installation problem can not really be with Windows - perhaps something about Dell hardware or your 1 TB HARD drive.
I looked at your system and found this article that you can read to see if it sounds like your original question:
Windows Setup could not configure Windows on hardware on this computer.
http://www.Dell.com/support/article/us/en/19/SLN293812/en
Since Dell has written an article for help on this subject, it means they've met enough times to take the time to compose the article and put it on their WWW site (but, they say, it is a possible resolution).
Could you take the issue in the Dell online community where experts hang out (especially your amber light).
Another good place for support is www.bleepingcomputer.com where there is a similar topic as your question (except Vista) on a Dell and a new disk of 1 TB (also a Seagate) and Dell ideas did not work, but someone else has found a way to fix it:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/453378/installation-fails-to-complete-on-new-HDD/
The bleepingcomputer for your error message search reveals other areas and people who have got things to work in different ways, then it is perhaps another place to look for ideas.
If the installation still fails it would not hurt to do the BIOS setting and see if things are getting longer, and since you are going to write the current settings before proceeding with the adjustment you can always cancel the adjustment if things get worse.

error during the installation of SP3 for windows xp-"cannot read or write to database"
I have windows xp and when I try to install sp3 I get a message saying "cannot read or write from database" and stops the installation.
How long the machine was not installed SP3?
(It could be infested/infected/etc.)In any case, what I suggest is to prepare the machine for the update...
- Steps to take before you install Windows XP Service Pack 3
- Windows XP SP3 - read all the prerequisites for a successful installation
Chancing some repetative tasks... Maybe just do the following:
Search for malware:
Download, install, execute, update and perform analyses complete system with the two following applications:
Remove anything they find. Reboot when necessary. (You can uninstall one or both when finished.)
Search online with eSet Online Scanner.
Do a house cleaning and the dust of this hard drive:
You can free up disk space (will also help get rid of the things that you do not use) through the following steps:
Windows XP should take between 4.5 and 9 GB * with * an Office suite, editing Photo software, alternative Internet browser (s), various Internet plugins and a host of other things installed.
If you are comfortable with the stability of your system, you can delete the uninstall of patches which has installed Windows XP...

How to use disk cleanup
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310312You can disable hibernation if it is enabled and you do not...
When you Hibernate your computer, Windows saves the contents of the system memory in the hiberfil.sys file. As a result, the size of the hiberfil.sys file will always be equal to the amount of physical memory in your system. If you don't use the Hibernate feature and want to reclaim the space used by Windows for the hiberfil.sys file, perform the following steps:
-Start the Control Panel Power Options applet (go to start, settings, Control Panel, and then click Power Options).
-Select the Hibernate tab, uncheck "Activate the hibernation", and then click OK. Although you might think otherwise, selecting never under "Hibernate" option on the power management tab does not delete the hiberfil.sys file.
-Windows remove the "Hibernate" option on the power management tab and delete the hiberfil.sys file. You can control the amount of space your system restore can use...
1. Click Start, right click my computer and then click Properties.
2. click on the System Restore tab.
3. highlight one of your readers (or C: If you only) and click on the button "settings".
4 change the percentage of disk space you want to allow... I suggest moving the slider until you have about 1 GB (1024 MB or close to that...)
5. click on OK. Then click OK again. You can control the amount of space used may or may not temporary Internet files...
Empty the temporary Internet files and reduce the size, that it stores a size between 64 MB and 128 MB...
-Open a copy of Microsoft Internet Explorer.
-Select TOOLS - Internet Options.
-On the general tab in the section 'Temporary Internet files', follow these steps:
-Click on 'Delete the Cookies' (click OK)
-Click on "Settings" and change the "amount of disk space to use: ' something between 64 MB and 128 MB. (There may be many more now.)
-Click OK.
-Click on 'Delete files', then select "Delete all offline content" (the box), and then click OK. (If you had a LOT, it can take 2 to 10 minutes or more).
-Once it's done, click OK, close Internet Explorer, open Internet Explorer. You can use an application that scans your system for the log files and temporary files and use it to get rid of those who:
