  • Fix installation problem: "the update does not apply to your system.

    Greetings and thanks for reading.

Currently, I am trying to fix a problem of high performance mouse. During the game, the mouse staggers moving (or 'looking', through the mouse) left or right . I tried two different mouse and the problem persists. The mice and their software, both work fine when connected to an XP system.

By raising the solution, I found this support page that seems to match symptoms more than all other pages (with the solutions, I have already tried) I found: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/932653/en-us?p=1

The page suggests that a service pack must be installed (already done) and otherwise, to try a fix .

I got the patch in question, but when trying to apply the patch I am presented with an error message:

"The update does not apply to your system."

I understand that this question would happen if I had chosen the bits bad operating system (I chose x 86 for my 32-bit system, rather than the x 64 bit), but I chose the right bit system.

I wonder how do I overcome this problem during the installation of the hotfix.

I want to emphasize: I updated all drivers for the system (I had to shell out money for a driver update program because you are looking for that many drivers manually is virtually impossible), including the specific software for the mouse, the firmware of the mouse... None of them solved the problem. This fix may be my only remaining option to fix this mouse and I am unable to continue without help.

    Kind regards
    Luke

    mousesupport12345,
Please post with the information requested here: what to post in the Windows Update forum

Explain when you experience the problem.  It is only in the games?  If so, is it all games or only some of them?

Clean boot your PC then test the mouse and see if the problem persists.

  • In Sonic I get the message: no recordable or rewritable device compatible could be found on your system

No window menu drop-down is displayed when I insert a music CD.

When I try to open SONIC, it does not open and a window pops up with the following: no recordable or rewritable device compatible could be found on your system.

This happened after MS fixed a couple of viruses.  The CD will be displayed in the start menu;. Explorer, but no fall to the bottom of the window that appears after you insert the disc.  Sonic will not open and I get the above message.  I can always write to a CD and play them but loss of Sonic is boring.  I have a DELL 2400 PC w / XP Pro 32 bit.  I also have the original sound installation disk.  Help

Go to the Dell site and download the SoundMax driver.

I installed on my 2400 of Secunia and Sonic is listed as end of life (no longer supported).

    Also uninstall Sonic.

    I hope this helps.

Does anyone know how to remove these updates to install?

    Thank you

Support of Microsoft's solution was to uninstall the Office 2007 Compatibility Pack.   I chose to ignore the updates and keep the ability to view Office 2007 extensions.

In addition, contact the support does not count as a solution, especially when the problem is not resolved by the project "fix."

How do you know if you are running a 32 bit / X 86 or 64-bit computer

    1. Click Start.

    2. Do right click my computer and then click Properties.

      • If you don't see "x 64 Edition" in the list, then you are running 32-bit Windows XP.

      • If "x 64 Edition" is listed under system, you are running the 64 bit version of Windows XP.

  • The expected version of the product was not found on the system

KB981715, KB972581, KB974234, KB969559 updates: I've went and used the diagnostic tool, repaired by using the installation cd, completely uninstalled and reinstalled, but keep getting this message after you run the update download manually "expected Version of the product is not found on the system."

Also, for the Microsoft Office service pack 2 SP2, it continues to show on the "check for updates", manually download the update and it says "already installed."

    What's next now?

    I have one last idea:

After disabling all Trend Micro components (i.e., antivirus antispyware; firewall) then the Windows Firewall activation, Office 2007 SP2 uninstall, reboot twice & see if the behaviour persists (i.e., without having to reinstall Office 2007 SP2).

Note: You may need to temporarily hide the Office 2007 SP2. See http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/24376-windows-update-hide-restore-hidden-updates.html (in Vista, also applies).
