  That's what I thought. I suggest that you wipe the cloned ESXi host, create a new virtual machine and install again. You can also consider using a separate subnet for the vMotion network to avoid problems.

• Cached host settings question

  I have a VMware View 5.1 environment connection to a 5.0 vSphere environment U1.  When you enable the setting host cache Display Configuration > servers > Select VC > caching the host tab and clicked OK, the ESXi hosts are not configured.  This is verified by checking a host ESXi Advanced Configuration > settings of the CBRC .

  Looking at the Connection Manager view logs I see this:

  We just move from ESX to ESXi 5 4.1.  We find that the BackupExec Agent of Linux is no longer talking to ESXi host 5.

  As far as I know, we don't have Backup Exec for ESXi host agent. If you want to take a backup of the configuration files to can do this through the vCLI l command vicfg - cfgbackup.p

• ESXi 5 hosts on the production network

  I was talking to some guys from Dell and they recommended that I create 4 separate networks for the following parts of our network:

  Yes for iSCSI, one for vMotion. I don't think I need to explain this iSCSI traffic! For vMotion I usually create a separate VLAN and use private IP addresses (for example, 192.168.x.x) not only to separate traffic, but also for reasons of security, given that vMotion traffic is not encrypted.

  ESXi, servers & clients are all on the same subnet.

  IMO, it's a good idea to have separate subnets for servers (more of switches, routers,...) and clients. In the case where a user "plays" with the network settings on the client, it could cause serious problems with IP addresses for servers or ESXi management network duplicate.

• Network lost after restart of host settings

  I have vcenter that works as a virtual machine on host #1 (vsphere 4.1 u1)

  I used vcenter to configure networking on the host #1 and was able to connect to the San and run a virtual machine of the SAN.

  About 10-15 minutes later, I stop the virtual machine of vcenter, put the host in maintenance mode and rebooted the host.

  After startup, the host no longer has network (vswitches, iscsi, config, etc.) settings and as such, cannot see SAN data warehouses.

  I had the help of my provider to fix this.

  Basically, you cannot overwrite an existing account with new parameters. The answer is to create a new account and edit the old one so it does not carry the same settings of server and user name. Now, I spend all my archives of old emails to the new account, but which is described elsewhere, I think.

  Of particular interest to me optimizes the processors for XP (SP3), Windows 7 (x 64) and invited Windows 8.1.

  If anyone can shed some light on the following comments related issues processor it will be greatly appreciated-

  Consumer versions of Windows won't make use of more than two takes.  The virtual machine should work correctly, but you two completely inactive vCPUs.

  The automatic setting is intended to be the most powerful.  However, in some cases, it is not.  For modern Windows clients on your CPU, the Auto selection will be Intel VT-x/EPT.  While EFA (extended page tables) provides the best performance for most workloads, it suffers from a large fine of TLB miss.  If your workload is a TLB (e.g. specjbb) buster, so you might get better performance without EPT.  Binary translation can be a victory for some workloads on 32-bit Windows XP, due to frequent bouts of TPR.

  (3) what is the effect of tick "disable acceleration for binary translation"?

  

  Normally, the binary translation only applies to the kernel code and user code runs directly on the processor.  If you disable acceleration for binary translation, all the code will be run using the binary translation.  The result will usually be catastrophic performance.  Why would you do?  Due to the nature of binary translation, some things aren't quite reason code user running directly on the processor-level.  If your applications are particularly sensitive to these differences to run natively, you may need to disable acceleration if you want to use the binary translation.  On hardware that supports Intel VT - x, hardware-assisted virtualization is usually a better option than VT without acceleration.
