OEM version of windows 7 can be installed on a new purched from hard drive on the market and not OEM (Dell)

My Dell laptop hard drive crashed. Now, I want to buy a new hard drive directly from the market (not dell). I'll be able to install the OEM version of windows 7 Home Basic or should I get the HARD drive replaced by dell only? I have the original DVD of windows provided by Dell.

No, you don't have to buy the hard drive from Dell. The market will be ok...

  • Windows XP can be installed on a new hard disk that is 500 GB?

The hard drive on my Dell laptop d 620 crashed so I bought a new one that is 500 GB.  The windows software that

has been 80 GB.  My family tried to install Windows XP on the new drive and tells me that it is not compatible with the
larger capacity hard drive.  It's not logical to me, but I'm not that computer savy.  Is this correct?  Thank you, Kathy

You need two things to support a drive larger than 137 GB:

    1. a motherboard with a BIOS and a controller that supports 48-bit LBA supported (or alternatively, an add-in controller card that does).

    2. at least SP1 of Windows XP.

  • How can I delate everything from hard drive except the OS

I want to remove all deLL iNSPIRON RUNNING xp, ELLES THE OPERATING SYSTEM.

    Hello

Thanks for posting in the Microsoft Community.

I understand that you want to remove all of the hard drive except the OS.

1 how many partitions you have?

    Please follow the methods.

    Method 1

If you have only one partition, in this case you will need to manually remove data that you don't want.

To uninstall the programs that you do not use, see the link.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/307895

You can also run Disk Cleanup tool, that helps you free up space on your hard drive

    See the link.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310312

    Method 2:

If you use multiple partitions, you can go ahead and format drives, except the partition where you installed OS.

NOTE: formatting the drive will remove all data and software installed on your computer.

  • 750-103D want: I want to install a 3rd HARD drive but the system will not start

Desktop motherboard has 5 heads SATA (of which 2 were used for the first DvD and HARD disk in the original Setup) and the box has 3 bays for HARD drive, but there is no additional power from the PSU cable.

I installed a new SSD as my main and designated record the 1 TB of HARD drive that came with the desktop as my secondary school and office works just great.

Now I tried to install an another 1.5 TB HARD drive for storage. I used a SATA power cable Y (1 male to 2 females) to extend the existing cable. However, to my great disappointment, the system is unable to start up. I guess that supply POWER 300 watts current is insufficient to start 3 disks to a single supply with extension cable.

    Issues related to the:

1] sells HP a 500-watt power supply with power cable for SATA 3 HARD drive?

[2] is a compatible power supply on the market (ie. not HP) who can stand in 750-103D envy? Brand/model and how much?

    Thank you.

    Hello

Probably, you have misunderstood my response.  Unplug the original HD boot drive.

Your question is not the power supply lack of insufficient power.  I have observed remains with HP computers with a power supply that would support three HDs off a 300 Watt SATA power cable voltage.

Perhaps the third HD is formatted incorrectly or is defective.  The other possibility is that your SATA Y cable connection is defective.  You also need good 5V and 12V.  In addition, if you have made any hardware changes to your PC you have not indicated, then it is possible that you may need a bigger power supply.

Unfortunately, you can not claim to install an upgraded version of Windows Vista on a hard drive Virgin.  I suggest you consider buying from an edition of the "Full Version" of Windows 7, such as Windows 7 Edition Home Premium.

I want to install an older version of 32-bit windows on the same computer - is it possible?

    Motherboard is P8 - Z77 PRO with 32 gb CPU Intel 7037

Keep in mind that since you already have Windows 7 Pro, you have another option more integrated.  You can download and install the XP Mode which is free and works as another task under Windows 7.  It works fine as long as you can live with the limited graphics provided.  I see with my home system, graphics card 16-bit with something as resolution 960 x 768.  If I had a higher resolution monitor, the chart may be a bit better, I use a TV 720 p to 32 "for a monitor (HDMI connected), but I know that MS has voluntarily limited the graphics of XP Mode because they did not want it to be used for the games.

    Good luck.

  • Can I install win 7 pro on two hard disks on the same computer, to be a recovery in case of virus problems.

I have an older hard drive and a new on my computer, I installed windows over before hard disk, I bought another hd.

I would like to install the os on the new hd as well as the old hd, in the case of a failure of the system, is it possible?

You can't, it would be considered separate licenses and cause problems of product activation.

What you need to do, is keep Windows 7 installed on a single disc and create a backup of your system on an external hard drive to backup:

original title: installation of Windows 7

    Hey Joe,

I suggest that you visit the gigabyte website for your region (and/or the site global http://www.gigabyte.com/?f=g ) and check your motherboard for compatibility with Windows 7.

The problem you are experiencing would imply that Windows 7 has no native driver support for your disk controller, so if Gigabyte don't have drivers that you are locked unless you buy a discreet disk controller that is compatible Windows 7.

Please mark this as useful or response if applicable.

On the other hand, you have this posted in a forum of Windows XP when it is really a problem of Windows 7.

  • Old hard drive PS3 by USB box not detected by Windows Vista

    Hello

I recently updated my old HD PS3 40 GB with a 500 GB one. Since then, I bought an external HD for my old HD, in the hope that I could use it as a hard drive for some files I have. However, I encountered a big problem - Windows Vista does not detect the HD.

So far I read a lot of posts on the internet with people having similar problems, but with no definitive answer, so I hoped to get :)

So far, I've tested the speaker on both the different 40 GB and new 500 GB PS3 in HD, as well as 2-3 computers. Nor are detected by windows... both have the power (green light is on, and I can hear the disc rotation), but are not detected on the management of the devices or programs in 3rd (SwissKnife). As far as the computer is concerned, nothing is connected.

Thinking that it was probably a hardware problem, I whipped my laptop HD out and connected on a separate computer and it worked without me even having to he invites. This leads me to believe that the device works perfectly and its something about the PS3 HD, who doesn't like Windows.

The only thing I have not tried is put my old hard drive to the PS3 in the PS3 and reformatting. The only reason for this is a screw on the case of the PS3 has decided, that he's not budging despite all my efforts. Its now 12:45 and I'm too tired to fight with 1 screw more! :) I really don't know not how tabling in so well, 3 others went fine and I deliberately don't screw them in tight with the new HD after I read about the problems people have had by removing the screws.

Someone at - it suggestions at all? How to get Windows to recognize that this has something plugged in, on how to remove that last screw embarrassing! Whatever that either would be appreciated!

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

Check if the drive works very well with the game station.
Chipset driver update and see if that makes a difference.

Check if the HARD drive is detected in the Device Manager or disk management tool.
    1. click on start, type devmgmt.msc and press to enter.
    2. from the list of issues, expand disk drives and check the sub for its detection.
    1. Click Start, type diskmgmt.msc and press to enter.
    2. check if the HARD drive is detected.

If the HARD drive is not detected, try the next step.
Step 1: Connect the HARD drive to the computer and find the hardware check if it detects. To do this, try the following steps.
    1. click on start, type devmgmt.msc and press to enter.
    2. from the list of items, click drives.
    3. click on the Action menu, and then click check for material changes.
    4. follow the wizard to complete the task.
    5. If there is no progress, then click the Action menu and click Add legacy hardware to install the device.

Post back with the results, so that we can help you further.

    Kind regards
