  • OfficeJet J6400: OfficeJet J6400 stuck

Printer all-in-one OfficeJet J6400 jammed all preparing to scan from the glass. I turned off the printer, but the scanning light remained on. Now he's stuck: when I unplug it and plug it back light scanning back the LCD screen does not light, but the printer does not turn on.

I tried to reset the printer unplug it from the power source and the power supply from the wall and several minutes of waiting, but it made no difference. I tried a reset, I have seen in a video of HP that are mentioned hold the book and 3 keys on the keypad reinserting the power plug, but that made no difference.

Is it possible to do a hard reset?

    Hello @Dale_Thompson,

Thank you for visiting the Forums from the HP Support! I see the control panel of your HP Officejet J6400 is more sensitive. Have you tried a hard reset of the printer without success.

The video you watched is reset for material from printers. If you perform the #3 semi full reset and that you still can't access control panel, you will need to contact our technical support at http://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp. • Lines of Officejet J6400 graphic in the Excel sheet misaligned when computer file copying

OfficeJet J6400 all-in-one, Vista, connected by cable to the laptop computer (and also connected wireless. I did both because of another problem fax not working do not under wireless only).

The copy was working fine. Now, sheets of Excel spreadsheet and graph lines and many a printed text appear slightly crooked and misaligned.  The lines look like test you made during the alignment of the new ink cartridges. (some segments of line up, some down).

AND, this only happens when copying of computer file for printer.  If I run a printer manually through Excel/graphic paper, it prints very well.

    Appreciate any ideas on that.

    Thank you.

Both BAD and sorry.  It seems that the right printer ran out of black ink now. What explains that.

But the ink looked bleak but was printing it for about a week. It is a long warning.

    I'm sorry to bother you.

  • All-in-one Officejet J6400 Fax receive not always or not at all

OfficeJet J6400, Vista.  Connected to the laptop via cable and wireless.  It is connected to the same phone number line, with the answering machine.  Settings seem correct and even when I had previous HP printer.  4 rings on the answering machine pickup and 6 rings for fax receive.  The fax does not receive.  Even if auto answer is on.  I am able to fax, manually. (have not tried otherwise)

I have to figure out how to keep the auto answer on vs switch mode 'sleep' (of another post).  But sometimes it is not in Standby Mode and AutoA is off.   Regardless, machine does not seem to take faxes.  BUT, when you do the test with HPFaxme, it doesn't work. !

And, when you use the HP Solution Center, all settings are made, and sometimes their fax Test does not work.

Another question... in Fax configuration, which is PC modem in this question in quotes?  It's same as router? -"Are you using a PC modem (to access online services) on the same phone line as the device HP?   Answer is Yes or no.  Which is mine?

I don't have DSL, and fax is on the same phone line. I have a DSL filter connected to the wire, of course.  Another wire goes from phone line in the wall (there is a separator) to the router.  This configuration refers to highest question?

Is the best connection wireless or cable (printer for laptop)?

    Thank you!

I'm back earlier than expected.  I never ran any patches of the HP link because another action (s) would have helped (which is recommended for another problem I had).

    So-

I had the printer connected to the laptop via a USB connection and network.  (wire cable between the printer and the laptop and wireless through the printer setup)   Due to many problems to make the light stays on 'Auto response' (I posted on this separately in the recent past), I have the settings Fax arranged in a strange way to make this work.  So I didn't want to change these settings, what would be the recommended link for me to do.  For the problem of the 'auto response', I ended up connecting computer to the printer via the cable. And that probably contributed to this problem.

I kept the two connections since and chose USB (OfficejetJ6480 copy1) wire as my setting of the printer preference in the settings box of the printer in Control Panel.  I think that even when I did the Wifeless-network connection preferably in the settings area of the printer in the Control Panel, the receiving fax machine or tests do not seem to work (even if it was some time ago and not tried recently).

I think the duplicate connections was things confused.  The fax Test seemed to spend during a test of the printer settings button.  But he would not pass when the test has been made Fax Tools in the Solutions Center on computer. (And this I tested it today.)

SO, I deleted the wireless network connection and the "device" (officejetJ6480) in the settings of the printer in the control panel.  I simply removed it.  I have left the "copy1 OfficejetJ6480" intact and continue the preference for the 'peripheral '.

I have rebooted computer and run Fax Test of the printer and printer Solutions Center on computer configuration tool.  And they both passed Test.  Go figure.

And also, the test of HPFaxMe works very well.    Thus, 3 tests have passed. !

I hope this will be useful for someone even if it is confusion.

But I'm sure that one of the hotfixes in the MissTeri link should help too.

    Thanks MissTeri!

While I was waiting for your last response, I went my firewall and changed the settings (even though I shouldn't have had that I had not changed in the first place). Received your note, and downloaded the HP Diagnostic Utility. Don't know what he did, but now I have the possibility to print again. I don't like having my settings of firewall change, esp as he points out he blocked 393 points in the last 6 days, but I'm going with it for now. Thanks a lot for your help.

  • OfficeJet 6480: Cannot install Officejet 6480 same wireless as if he says that it is connected to the wi - fi

6480 Officejet is wireless 802.11 g and 802.11n wireless my modem. The printer says it is connected to my WiFi and I printed a network report to confirm, but the computer can't detect it. Because of the difference in wireless technology? If so, how can I get to talk to each other?

    Hey @AZKate ,

Thank you for taking the time to post on the HP Forums today! Hope you enjoy the experience.

So, my name is Zac and I'll be your 1 to 1 HP Support Technician today. I understand that you are using the Officejet 6480 with a 802.11n wireless modem. Unfortunately, the printer is not compatible with the modem. It is more compatible with Wireless 802. 11b / g modems.

Here is where I found this information (about 1/3 of the way down the page): Plug printer for HP Officejet J6400 all-in-One Printer Series

I hope this helps! Have a great day and a wonderful holiday season. Sorry for the inconvenience.

  • MAC and an Officejet J6410 - well Yes, I had my worst problem

I started trying to figure out how to set the scan destinations on the console of the all-in-one and found this online document, which referred to as OSX10.8 (I actually use 10.9, but thought it was probably the same... maybe not). Here . The document instructed me to remove the HP folder in library/printers and then also delete the. Files GZ for my printer in the library/printers/PPDs/happy/resources folder, then drop complete files in my trash (delete). The next step after a reboot was in another document on the installation of the new software (which was for OSX10.9) install doc here. I was basically to reconnect the printer, and then manually add the printer again in the breeders & Scanners interface for system preferences.

When I do this I see that I can add the generic PCL drivers (limited), but when I select 'Select software' to view a list of the manufacturer software, HP J6400 series drivers are no longer there (I guess that's what I removed in the first step). I tried to copy the files back from another mac running 10.9 also, but I still don't see the J6400 devices in the list. I see all the drivers with. GZ files in the library/printers/PPDs/happy/resources, but not the one I need.

Does anyone know how to cancel this mess and get the right driver installed HP?

    Thank you

Restart your Mac, then try adding the breeders & Scanners printer and look for any change.

  • OfficeJet J6480: Installed drivers, printer offline

I had this problem for ages with my OfficeJet J6480 since the last update of Solution Center 13.0, who since then has caused a lot of grief for printing and network scanning to questions about my mother Aspire 6530 which has Vista 32 bit on it. My machine which is a custom built Asus P5N - D with Windows XP 32 Bit on it works perfectly with the wireless printer and has no problem with scanning for features.

I reinstalled and rubbed the drivers many times, more a reformat. When the installation takes place the printer works perfectly, then later the printer is unable to come online with my mother Vista machine wireless.

The only question I can find is that, in the control panel under printers Vista is that the J6480 is considered as offline, and to get the printer online, I have to right-click on the printer and select "use printer online". This resolves the issue until the computer gets shutdown. I don't know what to do and it's really disturb my mother.

    My laptop: Dell Inspiron 2200
    MOM's laptop: Acer Aspire 6530

    I have some general recommendations:

    (1) of the D - Link DIR-655 WIRELESS SETTINGS-> configuration of wireless network at hand:

    (a) set the Mode 802.11 Mixed 802.11n, 802.11 g and 802. 11B for optimum compatibility.  If you are positive that there is no 802. 11b devices in the area, you can use mixed 802.11n and 802.11 g.

    (b) disable Auto Channel Scan and select channel 1, 6 or 11.  To find the best channel, download our Network Diagnostic Utility (located here) on a laptop connected to your DIR-655 wirelessrun and select Show advanced tools, and then select Show networks wireless detected.  Try to choose a channel which is at least 5 channels away from your more powerful neighbour.

c fix the width of the channel at 20 MHz and the visibility of Visible State.  This gives you better compatibility.  While 20 MHz setting to slow down your network a bit, unless you do not have nearby wireless networks, these networks interference prevents the use of two bonded channels (for 40 MHz) in the band of 2.4 GHz Wi - Fi.

    (2) on the computer, uninstall the HP Customer Participation Program (if it has been installed).

  • Replacement for the J6400

We currently have a HP OfficeJet J6400 all-in - One Printer.  It works very well and we are happy with it.  However, our platforms are changing.  We have two iPads, iPhones and iPods.  We need to migrate a printer of Air in order to make best use of our technology.  It's a pain to have to send something to another platform (laptop computer) and print it.

My question is, which HP with Air Print would be a good replacement for the J6400.  We always want all the features of an all-in-One.

    Thank you

    Jim

    Hello jghannah

To get a list of AirPrint printers check the right side of the this page.

Personally, I think that's the Officejet 6500 has more or the Officejet Pro 8600 would be perfect for your upgrade. They share a similar design to that of the 6400 Officejet series. They get all Airprint. For a good comparison between them, see the following link: Officejets with Airprint comparison

    Thank you

    Meantime2013

    Salvation Dragon-fur,

I have uninstalled and installed the software of the printer for the fifth time and for the first time, I actually saw J6480 on the registration page. Settings of the printer turned on and the automatic was still missing.

I also checked "HP Officejet J6400 series properties" and found an option that did not previously exist under device settings.

Options installable unit duplex (for 2-Sided Printing) was put to uninstalled.  I changed this option to installed and finally I automatic two-sided printing.

Thank you once more for spending your time to help me.

    1. uninstalling the printer software

    2. make a restart on the computer, when it starts, do you hear the sound "device cannot connect?

-Enter the IP of your router (on the Page of the Network Config) for the bridge and the first DNS. Let the second white.
    -Click 'apply '.

Now, stop the router and printer, start the router, wait, and then start printing.

After that, you will have to redo 'Add printer' using the new IP address.
