OfficeJet Pro 8500 - no USB or Ethernet cable to connect the printer to the computer?

I'm just trying to set up my new printer Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless.  I got to the step of installing the software, but there seems to be no cable supplied to connect the printer to my computer.

I can't currently connect via radio that I expect a new wireless router be delivered.  Is this the way onlt connection other than buying a separate USB or Ethernet cable?

Help, please.

Ethernet and USB cables are not usually provided with most of the printers that you need to choose a cable with a length of favourabel to you. You can go to a hardware/computer store and buy a USB A-to-B cable. I'll post a picture of the end of cable just to clear any confusion.

    Hi etaf,.

I guess the short answer is: Yes, the problem with the software and the 3.0 Port.

The long answer with a possible work around is as follows: first of all, the software looks for minimum requirements. Because the software is older, he doesn't know what a 3.0 port. You are right when you say that it should work since you do not use the USB and use wireless instead, but this is not the case.

There is something we can try, but I can't guarantee it will work. I thought first we could connect a USB cable and run the software made to force the software to see the USB port, but then the software wouldn't even get far enough because you can't plug the cable to the most later in the installation.

My second thought and most promising suggestion is to connect the USB cable (although we do normally not until the software prompts us to) and use the installation wizard HP Print to get the insteaad of software to use the CD or download from the printer driver page. Still, I can't say with certainty that it works, but I don't see why it would not be worth a try.

If it works, and we get the software installed you can convert the USB connection to a wireless connection using the software. Fingers crossed! Download and run the with the following link. Printer HP install wizard for Windows

If this does not work, or you don't want to bother with it (not worth trying), I might consider getting a new model of the printer. You can even call HP. They might be able to offer a discount on a newer model. If you are in the Canada, U.S. dial 800-474-6836 or you can Contact HP worldwide.

I have a HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless, mainly connected with WiFi for PC Win7.

The problem is that the printer automatically adjusts between each printed page! How can I fix it? Is this possible with a hard reset?

  • HP Officejet Pro 8500 best has come out very low but the printer works fine.

I was always able to make great copies.  The quality of the document that I copy is excellent and I've copied before.  Now everything I copy is very low and cannot be read.  The printer works without any problem.

    Hey 1265yankee,

I see that you have a problem of quality of the copy with your Officejet Pro 8500 (A910) a model-all-in-one.  Have you tried to reset the printer hard and ensured that the device is connected to a wall outlet directly?

    • Unplug the printer while on
    • Unplug the other end of the power cord from the wall jack directly
    • Wait 30 to 60 seconds
    • Plug the unit back to

Also, take a look at the steps in the document found here.  The document is not directly applicable in the present case, but the steps are the same for your question.

Let me know how it goes.  If this does not solve your problem, then I have the steps to perform a factory reset on this product to see if an internal reset will be able to get the device to work as expected.

  • OfficeJet Pro 8500 software USB does move

I have Windows XP Service Pack 3. I uninstalled all my previous software/drivers HP printer before installing the 8500. (I had a series of OfficeJet 6100).

I select to install the USB software. The USB cable is not connected.

When the software starts installation it says "step 1 of 4 - control system. He crashes at 5% and never does anything after that. I let go 20 minutes or more with the same results.

I have downloaded and run the OfficeJet software and driver removal utility. Who was running. Found a note that says to run the bat file 3 times... Has done this, then restarted. Insert my CD and I tried to reinstall the USB software. Same thing. It hangs at 5% of the audit of the system. I have no case.

I turned my PCTools Firewall (also unplugged my computer from the internet), then tried to install the USB software with the same result from pending to 5% to ching system.

    Any ideas?  Thank you.

I had so much trouble getting the software installed. I finally got the drivers running and a lot of software installed, but not all. (No Photo Essentials 3.5 yet). I finished to clear all the memory disk cache (temporary files, etc.) and to change my startup so programs nothing started upward when I rebooted. After that I tried to install again. I tried several times. One of the moments where I tried to install "wireless" instead of USB. I got a ways, then tried to install USB. I finally got to complete the installation. Now when I run the program Center solutions to try to Scan (or other functions) the software crashes and does not end so I can scan etc, but I can click on the icon of the SCANNER that I copied my files of the control panel. When I open the scanner like this, I select Micrsoft camer and scanner Wizard. I am able to scan just fine. It is a continuous process. I think that I have some weird problems with my computer and other files drivers, but at least I can run my printer now and scan.

  • OfficeJet Pro 8500 a: 8500 a plug the USB to the PC and wireless for Mac

Our Officejet Pro 8500 a is connected via USB to our HP Pavilion running Windows 7. This connection works well. However, I tried to connect my iMac (OS 10.10.2) to the wireless printer with no success. If I disconnect the USB from the PC, I can connect wirelessly from my Mac. My question is: the Officejet Pro 8500 a does support multiple types of connections - one by USB and the other by wireless? If so, then I would appreciate help to understand why my Mac is not the 8500.

Other details: our wireless router is Apple Airport Extreme. The wireless connection on the printer seems to work (I can print the details of this connection). However, when I try to add the 8500 to the Mac by using add printer, the printer does not appear. (The printer is lit and shows five bars of signal strength, SSID is correct and a valid IP address).

My Mac is connected to the wireless network.

    Any suggestions?

I was able to solve the problem of the printer with ethernet connection to the router that provides network wireless for PC and Mac. Now two machines are able to access the printer with no problems. By connecting with an ethernet cable, connect the printer wireless has been disabled. It had to be done because the wireless radio had become unreliable. The idea was that the blue wireless light never came. Thus by connecting wired LAN, all problems are gone. • OfficeJet Pro 8500 manually change the number of rings for fax operation

I have a new machine which has a minimum of 6 rings before it works. My Officejet Pro 8500 has a max of 6 rings before the fax works. If the fax machine starts as the answering machine trying to record a message. It is a disaster.

How can I maually change the printer to recognize fax obligations to 7 rings or more instead of 6?

    concerning

    Barry

Good explanation.  The answering machine and the printer do not coordinate what to do when a call comes in.

There is not a way to change the setting in the printer for more than 6 rings, but in my view, there is a solution to your problem.  Line 1 on the printer port is for connecting to the wall outlet you mentioned.  The port of line 2 is used to connect a telephone or answering machine.  Scans and fax number are transferred to the computer through a direct usb cable or via an ethernet cable connected to a router.

If you connect the answering machine to line 2, the printer has built in the system so that the printer can decide if the call is for the answering machine or fax machine and act accordingly.  It won't work if the answering machine is connected to the printer.  Why don't you give that a try and let me know what happens.

  • OfficeJet Pro 8500 A909a not print correctly

    OfficeJet Pro 8500 A909a

    Windows 7

I can't print now with my usual USB connection, directly from the computer USB for printer, even if another computer can print to it via a network connection.  After printing, I open printer in devices and printers, there is a ghost copy to the printer and the printer itself is ghost, indicating that it is in offline mode.  After you open the Quebec, the file is listed with a message "error-printing".  I can remove the copy to the printer and to set the printer online, but the process is repeated each time.

I: restarted the computer and the printer, run the troubleshooter printer with no problems, noted, tried the USB cable to a different port, execute printing and doctor Scan and my computer 'sees' the firmware, printer and resettled drivers and restart the print spooler.  There is no hardware problems - it will print on the other computer and copies, etc very well.  I have not tried another cable because I have a step and assume if my computer can see the printer should work.  One final note: there was a bolt of lightning about 100 yards away for the weekend. first thing Monday back to work is when I noticed the problem.

Please help, I did research for hours without success...

Tried the printer with 2 different usb cables to another computer and it never worked.  I think that the usb port on the printer has been fried.  Bought a new printer works fine.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8500 has periodically resets

On every 20 minutes the screen on my HP Officejet Pro 8500 a is empty, then displays, followed by the transport travel sounds like the printer is reset for a print job.  I'm set up on a WiFi connection and I have no screen removal of frame together.  This reset is VERY disconcerting that happens without warning.  How can I stop this discount to zero serial?

    Hi Hwedhlor,

Welcome back the HP's Support Forums! I see the screen of your HP Officejet 8500 a turns off, and then it looks like his is about to print a job about every 20 minutes.

First of all, I would like to allows you to perform a hard reset of the printer:

    1. disconnect all cables and cards of memory in the printer. Unplug the power cord, directly from the back of the printer when the printer is still on.

    2. unplug the other end of the power cord.

    3. If there is a power supply on the power cord, disconnect one end and reconnect it.

    4. at the end of 60 seconds, plug it directly into a wall outlet (not a surge protector or battery backup because they can cause the printer to lose over time basic functionality).

    5. connect the power cord to the back of the printer.

    6. the printer should automatically power back upward. If not, turn it on with the power button.

    7. try to make a photocopy (if your printer is a printer all in one) before you connect the cables from the printer.

    8. connect the other cables needed to the printer.

Now go ahead and continue here: The HP product turns off the coast several times, please answer back with results, perform all THE steps listed.

I hope hear from you soon.

    Thank you
