On XPS 8700 newbie question

I have an 8700 XPS on the way, and before he gets here I did a lot of reading.  While I did not opt for the SSD drive, it appears that on the card mother, there's a slot mSATA.   To this, I was going to buy a 256 GB drive to stick there and run Windows out of the SSD.   That's the plan.

Now, by reading here, I saw this thread.  In this document, step 2 reads:

"Start Windows 7 or 8 CD/USB drive. Select the language and click Next. »

The computer shipped from the factory with a DVD or a flash drive or something with Windows there so I can reinstall for the SSD clean up?   If not, how could I do?

It also seems that they ship with a Windows product key sticker more.  So when I reinstall, how is this work exactly?  I caught something in construction now in the BIOS?  It's news to me, curious about how it works from a practical point of view.  Don't you ask is it she never comes to the key and he seized himself from the BIOS somehow?

Now, if I'm wrong and there is not a unused mSATA dig there, then all of this is questionable, but I believe it does.  It's one that I ordered.  The only change I made to the default configuration is that I ordered the best video option, which is "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 745 4 GB of DDR3 memory".

No, you need to create your own materials recovery/reinstall, using a USB [usually a 16 GB drive is necessary], using the backup feature of Dell and recovery:

http://www.Dell.com/support/contents/us/en/19/article/product-support/self-support-knowledgebase/software-and-downloads/Dell-backup-solutions/Dell-backup-and-recovery

Windows product key is now integrated into the BIOS, not on a label fixed to the chassis and not providing the operating system installation is compatible with the certificate of authenticity, there are usually no problems.

  • Dell XPS 8700 Windows 10 questions with SD card reader

Hi, I bought a new Dell XPS 8700 three months ago.  It comes with Windows 8, even if I asked for preinstalled Win10.  The Win10 upgrade process was fairly straightforward.  However so far three times the SD card reader stopped working.  I fix it by reinstalling the drivers.  Its not working again and my USB stopped working also.  Is there a background process that interferes with USB / SD card drivers?  Anyone else noticed this behavior.

    Rgds Frank

    You can try this:

Go into Device Manager, and then double-click the entry for your SD card reader. Assuming that he has one, click on the power management tab, and uncheck the box 'allow the PC turns off... ». Now, do the same thing in Manager of devices for all your USB root hubs.

Then go to the options screen to win 10 powers, click on advanced settings and turn off hybrid sleep. Reboot and see if that helps.

  • Question microphone Dell XPS 8700

Hi, I had a problem identical to that described in this forum post:

    http://en.community.Dell.com/support-forums/desktop/f/3513/t/19613125

Where my microphone is always so calm and creates a very large amount of white noise or static on this specific computer (a dell XPS 8700), but works fine on all other computers. I have already tried to connect on the front and rear mic ports, uninstalling and reinstalling the driver software, using different microphones, using a converter USB 3. 5 mm and adjusting the settings of microphones. It's all just too quiet and increasing the static gain becomes unbearably noisy.

So, I expect to have this problem resolved in the same way, in a sound card to try being sent because the built-in drivers simply do not work as they should. Although if there is another solution, I would be happy to hear it.

    Thanks in advance.

  • Question of XPS 8700 install fresh Win8

Hi I recently got sent my Win8 of Dell's USB key and tried to use it to install a new SSD. My PC is a vanilla XPS 8700, with 32 GB mSATA and 2 TB of HDD. My goal is to simply install fresh copy of Win8 on my new SSD. Here are the steps that I took before falling on a big mistake:

    (1) I plugged in a new SSD samsung evo 850 (120 GB), (with cable sata6)

    (2) unplugged the Blu - ray player and main 2 TB hard drive

    (3) I placed the SSD drive in SATA port 0

    (4) then went into bios, SSD is picked up correctly and assured ACHI was

    5) put in the USB stick I received from Dell and booted pc with f12

    (6) as soon as the drive diagnostic tool starts, I get the error:

    'Deploy_Jukebox.exe'.
    "Except for the breakpoint .
    A breakpoint has been reached.
(0 x 80000003) occurred in the application at location 0x7b9ba652
Click on OK to terminate the program"

    (7) then just restart guard and showing the same error

The first time, he does after a new reinstalled it will appear even the jukebox error, it just automatically restart and then show each time consecutive error until you restart manually the source/power.

    (9) I also tried with SSD in SATA0 and SATA1 HD - the drive just diagnosis takes more time, then finally showed the same error. Also I tried to play with boot order but nothing works out.

    (10) I tried with unplugged SSD and blu - ray + HD plugged - and the tool works and doesn't crash anymore. SSD is not defective and has been verified in Samsung tools (EVO new, 850) as well as internal diagnostics Dell f12 menu

Not sure if this is a problem with the stick of Windows 8 or something else is the cause. Would it be:

-My PC is initially the 32 GB MSATA - is this something I need to remove the PC before installing on my SSD?

-J' was sent only a 'repair & valuation' USB and not a Windows 8 OS install USB? You are not sure if there is a difference in what they send?

-The recovery disk works only if it recognizes a HD with Windows installed to recover from, and if she does not see a (as mine of 2 TB is unplugged) it just hangs

    Help, please!

  • XPS 8700 - incompatibility eSATA card

    Hello

I have read elsewhere on the incompatibility between a Dell XPS 8500 and a PCIe 1 X eSATA card that the user had installed.  The user declares that the card was not recognized by Device Manager and thus went inoperative.  I don't remember the problem is resolved.

Of course, I didn't read about this problem when I too lived the same problem on my XPS 8700.  I installed a new card eSATA PCIe 1 x slot and Bingo! -absolutely nothing.

I don't think that the PF to this problem are relevant because the XPS specification is concerned there is no card on board.  Updated XPS to update its BIOS bit after I ordered new computer (about 2 weeks).

Does anyone have any ideas or solutions to try?

Is that what someone else has similar problems and, if so, Dell "on the case"?

    Best regards

    Mike

There are 2 questions and none of them are associated with Dell.

Safe Boot must be off CSM and legacy with Roma option on.

The card must be PCI-E version 2.1 or 3.0 to work. The power supply of the bus and clock speed are not compatible to 1.0 or 2.0.

OLDER PCI - E 1.0 and 2.0 cards will be "seen" because the PCI-E bus will not downclock to version

    1.0 on the X 1 slot.

  • XPS 8700, 10 Windows, Realtek Maxx Pro Audio missing features?

    Good afternoon!

With my Dell PC provided Audio! The program worked great on windows 8.1, but today it's upgrade to windows 10 and the program has stopped working! On the contrary, it runs, but partially works (screenshots). Please help, what should I do? (My computer: DELL XPS 8700)

Here's how to solve the problem and get back to your old Realtek HD audio driver on the 8700 XPS.  This will restore the Maxx Pro Audio functionality.

Open Control Panel, and then select System
    * Click (left) advanced system settings
    * Click the Hardware tab
    * Click on "Device Installation settings" and then click "No, let me choose what to do" and "never install driver from Windows Update. Click on save changes. This step is important, or even updates Windows will always write the Windows 8.1 driver
    * Open Control Panel - programs and features, select the Audio from Realtek driver and uninstall
    * Reboot the system
    * Install the audio driver Realtek Windows 8.1
    XPS - 8700_Audio_Driver_N4TKF_WN_6.0.1.7016_A00. EXE
    * Restart the system. Don't forget to select your Realtek Audio as audio device by default if you have several devices on your computer

It worked for me.  Let me know if you have any questions.

  • Please help trouble Code 43 error graphics card for XPS 8700 (as well as the disappearance of sleep/Standby Mode) (Windows 10)

I got my XPS in 2014 and my warranty of service completed in 2015 Jan before I installed Windows 10. So since I've upgraded to Windows 10 I started having problems with by XPS 8700. Now, I have no guarantee. I thought he would go better once they have released an update of the BIOS and it did for a while unfortunately in recent months, I noticed two major issues.

    (1) upon the starting and restarting my computer, my monitor does not end up receiving the signal from the computer and remains dark.

-Checking that it is not a problem with the monitor by testing with other computers

-J' checked in the Device Manager and there was a next yellow alert for graphic cards / NVIDIA GeForce GT 635

-By clicking on, he showed me this: Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)

Unfortunately, it is not the only problem with the graphics card.

    (2) "sleep" my mode is gone (it is related to graphics and BIOS).

-J' tried the go in power to add setting but it was not yet listed.

-I went to the command prompt and looked powercfg.exe that's what I discovered:

Also, I would if I could have the option to upgrade my PC to sleep. I really miss it and do not have to constantly reboot my computer to be able to see anything on the monitor.

I hope someone can help me with these questions without having to reset the pc and reinstall, all over again, that the problem still exists in other cases (I don't have a copy of the installation of programs pre-installed dells so...). • GeForce GTX 970/980 on XPS 8700

Hello, I have XPS 8700, which came with OEM GTX 745. I think it passes to the Geforce GTX 970 or 980. These word on 8700 XPS video cards?

I am particularly concerned, because system recommended for 970 power is 500 W to nVidia's specifications, total power of XPS8700 is 460 w. Has anyone installed GTX 970 or 980 on 8700 XPS?

    Hey Ryocchin,

The GTX970 or the GTX980 will work in terms of being able to connect through PCI-express port.  Where you might encounter a problem is with the physical size of the map.  I know that some 970 models can be 12 inches, I guess the 980 years can grow according to the solutions of cooling for these exotic cards.

The other piece of the puzzle is to replace the power supply.  A 460W pourrait be authorized as a basis of suppliers GPU their system requirements on the assumptions made about the power draw of the entire system & always shoot a bit on the high side.  But if your computer is a few years old is probably not turn off 460 watts.  So I recommend a new power supply.  EVGA, Corsair, XFXm and Antec have all been good for me over the years.  If you want to simulate a modular PSU that you'll save tangles of cables.

So those are the two big things to look for: physical space for the graphics card (although I'm sure that a XPS8700 will hold a 970 without problem a lot) and a new power supply.

The Dell service manual is here if you want to get an idea of what it looks like to replace components:

  • XPS 8700, out-of-box speaker 5.1 audio problems

I had ongoing audio problems since the purchase of my XPS 8700 8.1 desktop system of 64-bit Windows on January 15 and set up with my speaker Altec Lansing 5.1 system existing. The strangest thing happens when I play audio from different sources.

When I use YouTube programs and music of Windows, Dell MaxAudio Audio Pro software plays audio perfectly thanks to 5.1 speakers. But, when I listen to music via iTunes or try to watch a movie from a DVD factory in my factory installed DVD player, the audio plays through my two front speakers.

In addition to the issue with my 5.1 speakers, I have constant audio noise/hiss through my speakers. But, it is stranger than most of the time when I move my mouse quickly, I can hear the movement of the mouse in my speakers. The 'mouse noise' is minimal, but you can certainly hear coming from the speakers.

I spent the greater part of the past month trying to find a solution to these problems - especially the sound of hissing sound coming from my speakers and iTunes music only 2 front speakers and not my sub or rear speakers (sometimes audio will be same break in iTunes).

I had no chance whatsoever to find a "fix for the problem of iTunes/5.1 speakers, so I'd appreciate any help on this. About whistling noise emitting speakers, here's what I what I met so far, but I have yet to try it (this solution came from Google):

SOLUTION: Go to the Realtek site (www.realtek.com.tw) > click on downloads in main menu > click on High Definition Audio Codecs (software) > accept the advice > download 64-bit Vista, Windows7, Windows8, Windows8.1 driver only. Version R2.73. I clicked and downloaded the link US2: 64bit_Win7_Win8_Win81_R273.exe (103MB). I then ran the installation program which required two reboots to install completely.

ITS OWN PURE! The hiss is now gone when listening with my speakers. Moreover, the Dell Audio MAXX Audio Pro, which is delivered on the Dell XPS works always. I don't know what hidden feature, I could have lost, but I consider that it is resolved.

Someone has already tried this solution but who has experienced similar problems than me? I hate to be "Jackin ' ' autour with new software download and edit the factory specifications on my brand new computer. But I want my computer to work properly with my 5.1 system speakers, which worked well with my previous Dell desktop computer which was in the process of Windows 7.

One last question, can someone please clarify for me if the Dell Audio MaxAudio Pro software is a product of Realtek? I sent a support one or twice with the solution (Google) I listed above, but nothing but crickets from Realtek Realtek. Customer service poor, to date.

I thank you in advance for any help and solutions/workaround solutions, you can suggest.

It is their integrated (Realtek ALC3861 audio 7.1) product with an overlay software from Dell. So yes, you must use their site to get the latest audio driver. Our driver is very old, 20/11/13. I used the same audio driver of detail on my Alienware X 51. Works very well. I added instructions in the FAQ.
    * Go to the top of the Audio card to the desktop computer
    * Open Desktop Audio FAQ
Open the Office PC Audio drivers
    * Read "Update Realtek HD Audio"

  • XPS 8700 displayport connection

Hello everyone, this is my first post from the community. I tried to nail the answers to my question by Bing searches, but this has been frustrating. Put in a request for information to Support Dell ago several days but have not heard from them yet. I did see an option to save my e-mail address when I registered my user name, so I don't know how this would be called. However, my email is '[email protected] '. I bought an XPS 8700 in August with I7 4790, 16 G of RAM, 1 TB HDD, Geforce GTX GPU 745. I've been running this via an E173P monitor that I bought with my XP rig in 2004 (a bigger table but it's 4.3 aspect ratio, 1024 res, VGA etc..) Time to upgrade.

My GPU has HDMI, DVI - D and VGA output. I'm looking at multiple monitors but especially looking at the Dell u2415 which has HDMI, Displayport and Mindisplayport entries. The questions I have are: 1. is the HDMI on my card to support this resolution (1920 x 1200) at 60 frames per second. 2. a seemingly more difficult question to answer is: If for some reason that I have problems with the HDMI, DVI - D fits the Displayport on the monitor. I guess my DVI - D output is to double bond. I did a fair amount of searching for an answer to this question and have seen responses in all directions. Most of the cards I saw indicated they were "Displayport to DVI - D" never "DVI - D Displayport. Does it matter? Is this possible? In any case, before ordering the monitor I really need to make sure that it will work with my GPU. Help will be appreciated. Thank you.

    Hello world

    Hello

I realize that he had already given a few questions and answers on this topic, but I'm still a little confused, because this kind of thing is not my strong point.  I would be very happy to help here.

I just got a new Dell XPS 8700 with a videocard of NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 745 4 GB DDR3.  I'm going to need to have a 3 monitor configuration in the near future and I was wondering the best way to make this work.  The video card has 1 VGA - HDMI, DVI-D-1 and 1.  Separated from the video card, there is an another HDMI and a Displayport.

I have not completely made my decision between 3-23 "or 2-23" with 1-27 "immediately.  (Will not be the fanciest monitors in the world). Exodus 3 - Dell S2340M or 2 of those and pick-up and Ultrasharp for fun.

I'm not a gamer.  I'm a trader.  I can't manage any lag when updating. I'm not too concerned about the image is as clear as possible.
