  Suddenly does not open pdf files with a double click, I now open Acrobat and file > open.

  You will find with the single click, what you see is an overview of the e-mail in the preview pane.

  You still have to double-click it to open it.

  Start Firefox in Safe Mode to fix the problem and to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance).

  I can't do the command 'Open with' right click - in windows 7.

  It applies to all files, whenever I want to 'open with' a program there is a line that stood saying
  "This file doesn't have a program associated with it for performing this action. "Please install a program or... -" and so on
  This applies to all of the files from my laptop every time I tried a file "open with." Is it possible to fix it? I really want to look at the issue, because these things make me really frustrated.

  I get a run or save option and select run but receive nothing. Can use open with, but it's very slow. Options for files in the folders in the control panel is correctly set to open files with doubleclick

  I've also posted this issue on the Group Discussion of MS, and Jay Freedman posted this response, that WORKED! Yes Jay!

  Click the FixIt button in the Microsoft article
  http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=940791. (The section of the article titled "fix it myself", explains what the button, but the button is easier).

  Make sure that MS Word is not open, click the FixIt button, click on run and this program will set MS Word. When you open MS Word after running this program, you will be able to edit the files again.

  Records are not open when I double click on it, I get say error message "this file has no program associated with it for performing this action. Please install a program or, if you alread installed, create an association in the default programs control panel "." I'm on Windows 7 Home premium. I tried the normal & safe mode however, the files open when I right click and select open. Analyses of virus came back negative.

  I also tried to restore the Shell32.dll file.  It gives me this error:

  "Shell32.dll Module has been loaded, but the call to Dllinstall failed with the error code of 0x8002801c"

  Any ideas?

  Download and apply the registry fix association "record" of my page File Association fixes for Windows 7 . If that wasn't enough, apply the fix to 'repertoire' association as well.

• PDF won't open when double-clicked on a mac...

  Hey, I recently installed CS6, and everything worked great. So I thought...

  But today, I tried double clicking on a pdf file that I received an email and it seemed he was going very well open as normal, but it didn't.  I rebooted my machine thought he needed a reboot.  Still did not work.  Tried the other pdfs still nothing. I've always had Adobe Acrobat X Pro on my laptop and never had a problem.

  Does anyone know how to fix this?

  I saw this question an answer above regarding a portable window, but not a mac.

  Please help as soon as POSSIBLE, it is very annoying!

  Open some files with Acrobat, go to window-> Cascade-> tile and see if that opens PDF files.

• Could not open by double click in project manager - prone RH8

  Hello all!  I am running on XP RH8.  Somehow... just my PC... but for ALL my projects (over 15 years), I lost the ability to open a topic by double-clicking it.  I cannot even click right and select 'change '.

  I right click, chose "Edit with" and design or view HTML.  This happened yesterday morning, and for the life of me I can't find a setting anywhere where it affects.

  I had HR long... This is a new!  And its very, very difficult and painful.  I can't double-click a bookmark and jump to it.  I can double-click a broken link and display the dialog box.

  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!  Relocation of HR is a 3 day process with our Help Desk, a secure server, and questionable results.  While there is a setting somewhere, or a combination of typing that I accidentally triggered... I'm all ears.

  Check tools > Options > file Association. Try selecting 'Use default editor'. Maybe your editor settings got scrambled in some way.

  This problem happened to me a little lonely with CS4, so I thought I would finally ask. Virtually all of my images are configurΘ for dΘmarrer with Photoshop. My problem is that many times, I double click on an image on my computer to open it in photoshop, and then photoshop rises and don't open it or even try. Usually, the image opens if photoshop is currently not open, and is lanuched by double clicking the image well. The problem seems very random and it to JPEG, PNG, GIF and BMP, and TIFF, as far as I am awear. PSD looks good. Note that this problem has not been resolved by resetting the preferences as I recently have doen it and it's still there. Any suggestions on how to make it work?

  How are defined the default file associations?  In Vista go to control programs by default/Panel associated with the files.

  Not a geek but see my jpeg file is set for Windows Photo Gallary and PDS is defined for CS3.

  Can check it because this program is open could influence where it loads?

  I'm on Windows XP with Service Pack 4.  The "show common tasks in folders" checked in folder options and my windows Explorer opens with the "common tasks" bar on the left side.  I have to click on 'files' (in the top tool bar) to get my files to display on the left.  If I click on "use Windows classic folders" instead of "Show common tasks in folders" my explore opens with no left bar at all and I still click on 'files' to have folders appear in the position of the left side bar.  Can I solve this case everytime I open windows Explorer opens on the side bar of folders on the left and content on the right?  If Yes, where and how do the default every time I open windows Explorer?  Thanks for any help, that all the world can offer.

  Thank you very much.  This has not only had what I wanted, but also extend this ability to any file folder I click on.  What I was really doing was: I saved a link to a set of "my computer" window microsoft explore my d: drive (my data partition) so it automatically goes to what I look at in explore more often rather than having open 'my computer' and go through several steps to get to the open D: partition.  But I still had to push the button of "folders" at the top of the page to open the view in the left bar of my directories - every time.  With your help my link now opens windows Explorer set up exactly the way I want every time!  You have saved me from countless steps repetative in the future for every time I open windows Explorer.

  I want to be abe to open files like powerpoint viewer in windows live mail, which unfortunately does not open in a browser window. If I remember, IE 7 has the right click to open with.

  Because Internet Explorer is a web browser and web and web access object opbjects cannot open until they are on your own PC, a choice 'open with' is a non-sequitur.

• That Windows Explorer open with its extended file tree.

  Is buried the record I work with several layers to the bottom of the tree (Documents > My Documents and so on).  I go immediately by putting the folder in Favorites, but which expand the file tree itself.  Is there a default setting that would make the Windows Explorer opened with its file tree developed to the level that I specify - either the level displayed when I close the program?

  What your request is what I get on my machine.  So, I sailed to C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32, click Favorites on the left side, click right and choose "Add current location to Favorites".

  What it gave me was SYSTEM32 in my list of favorites, and when I click it it only opens the right pane to this place.

  OK, so for your problem, it doesn't not self-expanding.  You can change this quite easily in the Folder Options.  Open something like the computer, click the arrow next to organize, choose folder and Search Options.  On the general tab, you will see under the Navigation pane option to turn on the self-expanding.  You won't achieve what you want.

• Master pages does not open by double click

  What Miss me? I used Indesign for years. Now have CS6. When I double click on a master page, it will not open. This happens with old documents and new institutions.

  I realized that I can't open anything with a double click, not just InDesign. In the search for an answer, I found an answer. When I installed a new mouse, I turned the speed to high, fast, super fast. When I slowed down the speed of double click, I could open anything. Phew!

  I solved the problem.  If you go to System Preferences > accessibility > mouse and Trackpad - you can set the double click to be much slower speed.

  I have windows 7 running on 2 PCs and recentley by double clicking on a program at startup, it does not open (it is show in the Manager of tasks such as running) happens on the two computer randomly and for third-party programs, and Ms Word. The main program, on what happens is MapInfo. Please help as there are computers to work and start generating serious problems.
