optical character recognition

I just bought a MFP HP LaserJet Pro M127fn.  I use a runnig Macbook Mac OS X 10.6.  Is there a download that will allow me to do optical recognition of characters and shape recognition?

Hi doxieguy,

Thanks for letting me know that you were able to successfully install the printer software.

You will need to browse the internet to find a program to OCR of your choice.

Here's a link for how to change your email address on your account to HP. How to change your Email address.

Thank you.

  • New type of spam - giant JPEG image with virtually no actual text.

It seems to be a new type of spam that I receive. It is composed of a few words of the text itself, but the majority of it is a large JPEG image that contains text and images. It's almost like if spammers have taken a screenshot of its Web site and sent the image.

Is it possible to set up a junk e-mail for this filter?

They have two reasons to do so. We have to eliminate the text spam filters recognize part of the image. The filters will have to use optical character recognition to catch him. Much too slow and cumbersome. The other is that whenever your email downloads an image, that shows the sending server not only that the image was recovered, but IP address and email address he went to. They know then it is a direct e-mail address and will increase the amount of spam you get.

In Outlook, you can prevent the download of the images until you click on a button in an email to good he (low field).

I don't know if the Mail has a similar option. If so, turn it on.

  • OCR software for HP Deskjet 2050 scanning

    Hello to all community workers

I have a new HP Deskjet 2050. This is printer * beep * scan * beep * Copier. I would like to create soft copy of some books of text using the OCR software. OCR is optical character recognition software, which can convert the text from the image in real characters and export them to applications like MS Word. I used this a few years ago. Normally, it comes with the Scanner CD. But I could not find this software with the CD provided with this printer/scanner for me.

Can someone help me find this software compatible with my HP Deskjet 2050 printer/scanner.

    Thank you

    Billon

    Hello
The software provided for your device includes all the OCR features

You can use a solution of OCR 3rd party to analyze as editable text.

If you have Microsoft Office suite, there is a good chance of the suite to provide this type of functionality:

    Office 2007 or 2010:
    http://www.howtogeek.com/HOWTO/14595/OCR-anything-with-OneNote-2007-and-2010/

    Office 2003:

  • Scan to Microsoft Works

When the scan on my Dell function no longer works, I bought a HP Deskjet 3070 e-all-in-one. This allowed me to analyze for the Microsoft Works word processor for editing documents.

I can't find this option on the HP. I lost my money?

    Hello MasAnne

At this point, it seems the best thing to do would be to do a search with your preferred for the ROC "ocr software" free search engine stands for optical character recognition. OCR, is what allows to scan 'read' the words on the documents and put them into an editable document. There are both paid and free OCR software out there I suggest that you look at. FreeOCR is one of the applications that you can watch.

Alternatively, you can upgrade to Microsoft Works suite. There are several versions of the works since then as well (Works 9.0 was released in 2008).

I can scan a text document directly in the Pages?

The Pages ' 09, or Pages v5.6.1 allowed scanner captures in a Pages document. You need to use a snippet and use the file menu: import from a Scanner. Then you can copy/paste this PDF pages result as an object. If your scanner is equipped with optical character recognition software, it can convert the text in PDF, Word or text document.

    Hello rbrooks43,

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

I understand that you want to convert your scan document in Word using the Photosmart 5525. I will do my best to help you! Unfortunately, this printer does not include the package to OCR (Optical Character Recognition). You can try to download a free version on Google, but it must be compatible with this printer.

You must run the scanned image (a picture of the words, not the)
the words themselves) through the OCR (optical character recognition)
software. That creates a text version of the summary that you can
    then read in Microsoft Word.

Many scanners have a light version of some OCR program. If you
is not an OCR program and would like to buy one, the two best are Abbyy
Fine Reader and OmniPage. These are both expensive, but there are also
some freeware products available that you can download and
    try.

  • OfficeJet 8610: Trouble with sweep Officejet 8610

I set up my officejet 8610, installed the disc is it came with. I'm trying to scan a doc on my Mac. It gives me a message failure scan noting that it could be the connection to the computer (which is not the case), scan app on mac is in use (I don't think), OCR app is not installed on the mac (what is this?). I don't know where to start. Please notify. Thank you.

    Hello @Robert34!

Thanks for posting on the HP Forums!

I would be happy to provide assistance about scanning with your Officejet 8610 to the Mac computer.  Software OCR stands for optical character recognition.  It's text-recognition software in a scanned image, so you can change it.  Unfortunately, it is not available for the Mac, but it should not prevent you from being able to scan.

I recommend that you check the HP on the Mac utility to see if the scan of the computer is turned on.  To open HP utility go in your application and click on the Hewlett-Packard folder.  In the Hewlett-Packard folder, you should be able open HP utility.  Once you have the HP utility open click on Manage scan of the computer to see if it is enabled.

If you are unable to scan, then I recommend using the Image Capture to scan.  Image capture is also located in the folder of the Application on your Mac.  You can also locate it by typing Image Capture in the spotlight (magnifying glass) in the upper right corner of the Mac.  Image capture to start the analysis of the Mac.  It has more options and settings for scanning and saving.

Once you are in the Image Capture, select your scanner on the left side of the window.  It can be located under shared.  Once the scanner is selected, you should be able to change all settings on the right side before you click scan.  Below is a screenshot of what picture Capture looks like and all available parameters.  If you have not any settings that you should be able to click on show details at the bottom of the window.

If please, after back and let me know if this worked for you!

  • How to remove the text areas of a scanned document

How can I remove a plethora (sp?) of the text areas of a scanned document?

    Hello JBreeden,

More scanned documents cannot be changed, unless you have a software that can read digital information. The scanned document is just a picture of the item that you have scanned. You must have a software like OCR (optical character recognition) to be able to make changes to the digitized item.

    Thank you

My Vista 32 does not work with Abby Fine Reader 5.0 Sprint. I have Adobe Reader 9.5. Can I both... Can I uninstall Abby?

    Hello

I would like to inform you that Abbyy Fine Reader Sprint 5.0 is an optical character recognition program. It takes a scanned image and converts it to editable text, such as Microsoft Word or Excel.

You can view the following link to learn more on this subject:

    ABBYY FineReader Sprint
    http://www.ABBYY.com/finereader_sprint/

See the following steps to uninstall it:

    a. click the Start button and select Panel.

    b. select programs and features in the menu.

    c. in the programs and features window, search for Abbyy FineReader Sprint 5.0 in the list of programs.

    d. select the option Uninstall. (If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.)

    e. follow the on-screen instructions to complete the uninstall and then restart the computer if prompted.

    Hope this information is useful.

  • How the world to digitize documents no pictures?

I try to scan a word document and may not know how to do and change it once?

You need OCR (Optical Character Recognition) software to scan documents & be able to change the result, many scanners are equipped with software (mine is listed as IRIS) so it can be useful to research the disc/installation of the software provided with your scanner to see if it has the appropriate software.

You posted on a forum only. In the future, either post
here in English if you can him, or ask your questions in a forum.

My Italian is very poor, but I think you're asking if you can change one
scanned document, addition or deletion of words at the beginning.

When you scan a document, you get an image of the document, not
editable text. If you want to change the text, you must use an OCR
(Optical character recognition) software to change this image in
text. If you want to buy one, two of the best of such programs are
OmniPage and spnord Fine Reader, but many scanners come with a Lite
    version of an OCR program.

If I misunderstood what you ask, my apologies.

  • Scannig woes

Hi all. I think a lil lame but that's. I am trying to scan documents in my HP7200 PDF mode all-in-1 printer so thatI can download to microsoft office. Is it possible, duh?

When you scan a document, you get an image of the document. If you
to modify this document in pdf format, your scanning software has
to support that feature or you need other software to do so.

so thatI can download Microsoft office.

What you want to do with the pdf file in Microsoft Office?
My guess is that you don't really want to say pdf. If you want to scan a text
document and change its content in Microsoft Word, you need to
run the scanned image OCR (Optical Character
Recognition software). This changes the image of text to the text itself
(but almost never with an accuracy of 100%). Are two very good OCR programs
    OmniPage and Abbyy Fine Reader.

Some scanners come with "Light" versions of such software, but if your
doesn't work, you can buy such a program.

    Hi lake1998,

When you save a document format, you are talking about OCR or optical character recognition.  The 3512 Deskjet will allow you to save the files analyzed in the formats listed, but it doesn't have a built in OCR.

This thread has identified solutions that may work for you.
