The Dell Optiplex 7040 has MT of 2 slots for adding new hard drives 2.5 ".

However. instead of the standard width 2.75 "(pour un nouveau supplémentaires 2.5" disque SSD), housing seems to be approximately 3.25 "wide.

Any suggestions as to what part number is required to mount the disk 2.5 "in the designated location 2.5" are appreciated. Thank you.

  • MS Server 2008 R2 on Optiplex 7040 (USB 3.0 ONLY) can make it work, even with all the dism and patch stuff...

Trying to install Win Server 2008 R2 on an Optiplex witch is so all USB 3.0 by using the legacy startup it will launch the installer and does NOT freeze to the main screen.  But when it comes to screen readers it says it needs a driver, but nothing does not recognize because he needs a driver to recognize the HD and needs a driver to recognize that anything that is connected to the USB 3.0 ports.

I spent 2 solid days watching and trying different things, including the patcher software dell (who uses powershell).  It works very well.  Broadcasts usb 3.0 drivers in the build of the server, but when I boot it ti freezes at the home page because he removed the pilots using the mouse and keyboard.

Is there anything else I can try to get this to work?  I use the wrong driver?  I tried the drivers that came with the driver update utility.  I tried the drivers from the website of intel.  Cause the main screen to be locked up with no mouse/keyboard.

I tried inserting manual usb 3.0 (same result).

Another way I can get it work?

I can use 2012 R2 server (who has 3.0 drivers and hard disk drivers and see the HARD disc immediately, but I prefer to use the Server 2008)

    Thank you

    I've found a workaround. (mine)...

If I install the 2012R2 server, it gives me a platform of USB 3.0.  from 2012, I installed 2008R2, and it worked.

I had to use 2012 once more in repair/back window because I forgot to shoot all the drivers in 2008.

I did once I was able to delete windows.old and now I have a fully functional 2008R2 on an Optiplex 7040.

Of course, has been easier than all this stuff of dism.

  • Dell Optiplex 7040 with ImageAssist of imaging

    Hello

We recently opted for the Optiplex 7040 here to my financial institution. I'm putting our picture Windows 7 on it using Dell Image help. I downloaded the new driver CAB file and place it in the folder "Dell_Driver_CABS_Local". Image recovering very well and I see that it installs the drivers without error. When I restart the system however I can't load windows. It freezes and just a loop. I did some research on the Internet and I think it is related to the hard drive that I use. My Optiplex 7040 uses the 256 GB Samsung SSD NVMe and I read that there are some compatibility issues with Windows 7 with regard to the pilots. What I'm confused about is if I have downloaded the latest driver CAB from Dell, which escapes me.

In the BIOS, I have the following enabled:

    BIOS Version 1.2.8
    Secure Boot OFF
    Legacy Boot
Activate the Option Legacy ROMA ON

    Help, please!

When the Windows 7 image to readers of type NVMe, bios must be on to UEFI to generate the image.  Once this done, then it will start correctly after the image is planned.

    Hi iamprateekprakash,

We do not recommend that it works because it has not been tested but according to your discretion, you can try, but as you rightly noted that it might void the warranty with Dell.

  • SCCM 2007, WinPE30x86 - Optiplex 7040 - No. USB mouse keyboard in WinPE

    Hello!
Im getting OSD works on Dell Optiplex 7040 with SCCM 2007 (Winpe30) of evil. No response from the mouse or keyboard in PE. I created a bootimage with the latest Dell WinPE drivers (tried A18 and A19). Driverpack WinPE from Dell contains 30 USB and 3.1 drivers but no luck-USB. Looks like the Optiplex 7040 have only ports of USB30.
This isn't a problem in our environment SCCM 2012 (WinPE10).

Solved... BIOS has been the root cause. Fra 1.2.1 to 1.2.8 BIOS update fixed the issues.

  • No USB keyboard/mouse - SCCM - OptiPlex 7040

    Good afternoon

I'm trying to deploy Windows 7 for Optiplex 7040 using SCCM 2012, I downloaded ACR and imported the drivers, I have also injected the Ethernet drivers and it is very much the startup of WinPE.

At this point I wonder my SCCM Build password, but the USB keyboard/mouse work.

I tried adding and removing the USB of the cab drivers to the boot image, but nothing helped.

    Any advise?

I've added all physical of the cab drivers and removed all the USB drivers to make it work.

  • OptiPlex 7040 Micro missing heatsink heat from the chipset - is this normal?

I bought an OptiPlex 7040 Micro system about two weeks ago. After the opening of the system, I noticed that the heatsink for the chipset (Q 170 Skylake) is missing. You can see in the image below.

Photos of the user, in fact downloaded manual from Dell, you can find the image with a heat sink as usually installed on motherboards.

Because the German Customer Service isn't really a help for me, they always send me different pictures of the other motherboards than mine, sometimes of the previous Micro 9020, my question is this:

Really missing heatsink (accidentally forgot to install at the factory) or is it planed out of the system for reasons?

Because I don't want to let change possibly latest main map by an elder of the customer service to the Germany, it would be good if someone relay knowing that the facts could answer.

There is no heater on this chipset on the 7040 M.

I checked the internal images of the motherboard, and they show no heatsink during this particular chip.

Also on your image of the motherboard in your system, you will notice that there are 2 positions on the motherboard where the clip holders would be located (circled in white) and real clips are not soldered to the motherboard showing that the radiator and the following clips are not needed

  • OptiPlex 7040 Micro screws missing and clips for WiFi card

We have just purchased four Optiplex 7040 Micro computers and open one open to see how they can get to everything in a small box.  By doing this, I noticed that the WiFi card has not been pressed by what it is.  It doesn't look good for me, so I opened the rest.

One of them had a clear plastic retainer clip, with a screw now with card Wifi supported firmly in place.  The others had a screw, but not clips.

Since then, I spoke with technical support and support enforcement.  They tell me that they cannot just send screws and Staples, only completely new computers.  Looks like a complete waste for me.

Does anyone else have this problem?

    It's normal.

The newer chipsets have a sink of heat and the Z bar.

  • Dell Optiplex 755 adding second hard drive

I have a Dell Optiplex 755 and I would like to add a second hard drive (160GB 3.5 "SATA Hard Drive Western Digital WD1600AAJS) to have more space, because I think that the stock 75 GB is not enough for me. So I wonder if I need a new power supply or additional data and power cables.

  • USFF OptiPlex 755 for HDD Caddy/RAILS part number?

I inherited 8 eight Optiplex 755 USFF machines (ULTRA SMALL FORM FACTOR). They lack all their hard drives, and I just realized under the cover that it is just a metal container lack the blue part plastic caddy/rails. I'll have a terrible time trying to find the part number appropriate because everyone online tags their photos with about 10 different 7xx Optiplex models, ranging from unspecified SFF and rarely find USFF.

I know a picture is worth a 1000 words, but if I had one I would probably be able to find the part number. On the 755 Mini Tower there blue bins or carts that drives staple in and then you slide on the machine. The USFF is a set of blue rails that screw in the HARD drive or is it a similar caddy? I have a lot of them (from 755MT and Precision workstations) laying around, but these blue trays do not adapt the 755 USFF.

To clarify a bit more. There is a metal drawer/box HARD drive to staple in. This metal tray screws down on the chassis. It is a small square fan that screws into the metal tray so the part I'm looking for is the part in blue plastic to HARD drive only WITHOUT fan, just the part that securely attaches the disk of the machine.

Thanks for any help. When I entered some of the ST in the Dell website they specify HARD drive that machines shipped with but do not specify the part number for the tray/caddy drive HARD blue.

    Thank you.

Here are therefore 7000 words on this subject. For USFF disc trays are not blue and they are not plastic. Point 4 is called the HARD disk in the tray of PG027. The drive tray has PLASTIC fixing Rails (2 required), USFF: U2836 that keep you in the PG027plateau.

  • Re: Equium A100 - 2 L - the search for the replacement of HARD drive

I inherited an Equium A100 - 2L (PSAAQE) of my brother, but he kept the hard drive damaged in the hope of saving its data on it. Can anyone recommend a hard drive replacement, and I need one any attachment or additional connector?
Looking at various Web sites, I'm puzzled by this disc to buy regarding dimensions (SFF, 1/8 H etc.)

    Thank you

    Hey Buddy,

No, you need a t n pregnant additional or connector. The caddy HARD drive you need you can use old HARD drive and the connector is soldered to the motherboard. So when you replace the HARD drive, you need only one new, what s.

Equium A100 has already SATA interface that means you buy a HARD drive with SATA interface, but it of not important if she s SATA1 or SATA2 interface because the two standards will work (SATA2 is compatible downgrade to SATA1).

So just buy a * 2.5 HARD drive with SATA interface *. Also there is no capacity limit, 500GB or more should work and manufacturing is also independent.
Just look at some online stores and buy a HARD drive with good price / performance. :)

    Hey Buddy,

Toshiba Samsung SU - 208 Super Multi 8 X DVD RW DL burner 24 X CD - R 9.5 mm Super Slim laptop internal SATA burner NEW

If it has an optical drive it can support a caddy to drive hard drive and you can put any 2.5 inch SATA SSD in there. However, it will not be bootable and the interface is slower than the main SATA interface, so it is really a waste of money to put a SSD in there. You already have an SSD or are you thinking that as a way to make your laptop run on an SSD?

It will not work to give your laptop the speed of an SSD market. It can only be a storage drive I'd actually recommend getting a big HDD slow to put in there like a 2 TB 5400 RPM. You can run the videos and music from him but it is not good for stuff like editing which has fast speed of output video.

SSD upgrade will improve the time of startup and overall performance drastically than anything else. SSD boot drive is an excellent choice. Use tools of cloning the SSD manufacturer (from their website) or other free tools available, to migrate the OS.

Download, run this tool to know the SATA HDD type:
    https://www.Piriform.com/Speccy

SSD now on the market is of SATA3 (6Gbps), it'll work in your laptop your model SATA connector to be I, II or III. They are compatible with reverse.
