Oracle 10 g application / database server

Hi my name is azeem.

I am a student at the University of Cairo EGYPT I have question regarding oracle 10 g, which works on windows server 2003.

Please find attached picture is company that I train now.

Drawing1.jpg

they have real server they installed on that two virtual server using vmware

first contain Oracle 10 G database.

second contain applications (modules of house ware, Sales module, Director of sales, CEO).

When I need to access database

first of all, I need to access applications server and application server, then access the database server.

When I asked HE Admin

Why run server applications and Server database on both real virtual server?

He told me it is recommended to run the applications (modules) server and the database server separately.

When I asked him why

He didn't answer me so please if someone can help me to get the right answer

Please advice more reference for self-training on this issue.

application server & database server are hosted on different systems for a scalability & security.

  • sqlplus to connect to remote oracle database server

    Hello

I have the server database oracle 10g on solaris 10 and I usually connect using my account to solaris and run sqlplus on the server itself. This works!

I downloaded and installed the client instant oracle for solaris 64 and I can launch sqlplus command but I'm confused on what should be the syntax of the command to connect to remote oracle and solaris 10 database server where I have the system account.

I tried sqlplus help but still I could not correct syntax that may be used to authenticate to the oracle server.

    I tried

    sqlplus user@hostname:1512/SID

then he asked for password, but when I typed the password and you press on enter, it gave some error

but he still asked as username so I type user@SID and then prompt password - typed password and it works!

so I do not understand what should be the correct syntax for that in the first attempt, I'm able to connect.

If possible, please give the exact command with realworld examples, (I tried with sqlplus - help already)

    Thanks in advance.

wonder what if I didn't tnsnames.ora on the client machine, how will be the syntax?

You generally need (or at least strongly want) a file tnsnames.ora on the client machine.

-You could configure Oracle Internet Directory and allow this product provide TNS alias resolution for the Organization (similar to the DNS configuration for a LAN).
-Many tools (I have not personally tried SQL * more and it can be dependent on version) allow you to specify the whole TNS alias in the tnsnames.ora file (i.e. everything that follows the abcd.domain.com = entry) but which is extremely heavy for type
-According to the version of the Oracle file sqlnet.ora, the complexity of your configuration client (that is, if you try to use the more advanced features such as failover), you may be able to use the syntax EZConnect

    sqlplus username/password@host:port:SID/service_name

Where host is the server that the database is running, the port is the port the listener (i.e. 1521 default) listening and SID/service_name is the SID or service name, you are trying to connect to.

  • How have the Linux database server listener listen to the service in the Net of Windows XP Client Manager?

    People,

Hello. I installed Oracle 11 GR 2 database server in the Oracle Linux 5 operating system.
All customers (NetCA, DBCA, GROUND Deveoper, sqlplus...) works properly on the database server. The LISTENER_PT853 listener is listening on client tools under Linux successfully.

I also installed Oracle database Client(SQL Developer, NetMgr, NetCA, sqlplus,...) in Windows XP. So that the client tools to connect to the database on Linux server, the listener in Linux must be tuned to the service in Windows XP.

In Oracle Linux 5 Server Machine Net Manager:

    Service name: PT853
    Connection type: default database
    "TCP/IP Protocol".
    Host name: 192.168.196.102
    Port: 1521

    Listener: LISTENER_PT853
    Protocol: TCP/IP
    Host: 192.168.196.102
    Port: 1521

I have test the Service PT853 with "SYS" username and password "SYS." The connection is successful.

In the Windows XP Client computer, the information in the Net Manager is lower at:

    Service name: PT853_Linux
    Protocol: TCP/IP
The host of the database Machine name: 192.168.196.102
    Port: 1521

I test the connection by using "SYS" username and password "SYS" and got this error: ORA - 12514:TNS: listener does not currently of service requested in connect descriptor. There may be an error in the input fields or server may be ready to connect.

Can I check the status of the listener in Linux Server machine as below:

    [user@localhost bin] $. / lsnrctl status LISTENER_PT853

Its release: Service PT853 has 1 instance. PT853 of the Forum, State LOAN, has 1 handler for this service.

Foregoing, we saw the listener in the Linux server machine only to listen to the PT853 service in Linux but not to listen to the service PT853_linux of the Windows XP client computer.

Windows XP (192.168.196.101) and Linux (192.168.196.102) can ping each other successfully. So that client tools in Windows XP connection in Server database on Linux, the listener in Linux need to listen to on the service in Windows XP first.

In Net Linux Manager, I add an address more (TCP/IP, 192.168.196.101, PORT 1521) to LISTENER_PT853, but gets the error.

    My question is:

How have the Linux database server listener listen to the service in the Net of Windows XP Client Manager?

    Thanks in advance.

    UserAL1178M wrote:

    Hi you ave create listener.ora.

Actually, no he didn't "need to create listner.ora.

In fact, its problems stem from the fact that it * has * created one instead of letting some things by default.

I give an example of my environment

    [oracle@home ~] $ cd /home/oracle/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1/network/admin/

    [oracle@home admin] $ cat listener.ora

    listener.ora # Network Configuration file: /home/oracle/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1/network/admin/listener.ora

    # Generated by Oracle configuration tools.

    LISTENER =

    (DESCRIPTION =

    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP (PORT = 1522))(HOST = home.test.al))

    (CONNECT_DATA =

    (SERVER = DEDICATED)

    (SERVICE_NAME = orcl.test.al)

    )

    )

    ADR_BASE_LISTENER = / home/oracle/app/oracle

    [oracle@home admin] $

Change host, name of service depending on your environment. Your port is 1521.

Then, first run all the listener and database startup. If you do the opposite, with that you will need to register the service change the order of system registry.

  • Download file from the database server, through application server.

    Nice day

    I use Jdeveloper 11.1.2.3.0.

I have a requirement to download a file that already exists on the database server Directory. Now my current scenario is that user is connected to the application server, and the user has no direct access to the database server.  I drew a diagram of my requirement as:

    DownloadFile.png

I get a way to do this. Please suggest.

    Best regards,

    Julien

The session does not expire if you are streaming data from the application to the client. However, you will need to manage the data sent over the network, because it can make the very slow network if you send this amount of data at high speeds on the network and then to the customer. This connection between client and server is the biggest problem, because bandwidth is usually small. Think about downloading software by one side oracle (for example 1 GB), this takes time and is prone to errors.

We did something similar by transferring the data from the database (in our case, it has been stored in a BLOB) on a dedicated server with a server web apache on it. Then, we send a link to the client, which then uses the link to get the special file server data.

The advantage is that you don't have to code the transfer of huge files in the application of the adf but can already use ready to use of software (balancing bandwidth and the recovery of a broken download).

    Nordine salvation,

I suggest you to refer the link: "How do I convert the character set for Oracle R12.1.1 running on 11.0.6 database Oracle US7ASCII' as it is very relevant to you."

Response to your previous post would be:

    S ' stick to a plan

-Try all of the activity on the TEST server for yourself

-Troubleshoot and debug all the question from A - Z

-On the successful implementation, make a backup of the Production and move the solution to PROD.

If possible, run a lot of questions while doing the character set migration oracle applications, database because it contains the application tables.

I accept the fact that EBS database is complicated to a database independent, but still all the features and debugging tools and troubleshooting is the same, although it is autonomous or EBS database.

We should do if we stuck to the top in with and truncate in the application according to the CSSCAN results tables,.

little tables when we checked in Metalink he says to avoid these tables which do not affect the database or application.

Try in a Test Server, the above link helps you on the issue. You can find answer to some tables with loss in metalink if it's a bug, just lift a SRt solve your problem.

What we must do if we are in important application tables, export and import will help in this issue.

No, if we have available data with loss, then we cannot use the Import/Export and we will have to use CSALTER instead.

is this the right method or must contact oracle support for assistance on important application tables.

YES, I personally recommend you try and paralleling have ongoing Oracle support. So that you will have a guide from A to Z, in the case you're wrong

    Hope this helps

  • How to start the oracle database server and its client in windows 8

    Hi all

I am a new entry in this forum and I am a beginner with oracle database.

I always used SQL Server as the database, and it was easy to use after installation.

With management program configuration of SQL Server I could to start service SQL Server (SQLEXPRESS) and the database server start!

With SQL Server management studio, I was able to launch the client application, then was to establish a connection to the server and everything worked great!

Now, how to work with the oracle database?

I installed the oracle server and client version 11g R2 in windows 8, but how do I start the database?... and how can I start the client application to query?

    best wishes in advance.

    PS: Sorry for my English.

If you are on the same machine, the only service that you absolutely need to start is the database service.  In your case OracleServiceSYSDBA (hmmm... How did you find with this name?).

For queries, you can use SQL * Plus which should also be installed.  If you want something GUI, you can use SQL Developer (you need to install separately I think).

I'm trying to find the best way to migrate a database to a server that is running Oracle 11 G on a server that is running Oracle 12 c.

I tried using the RMAN duplicate command of database but have run in many too many problems when you try to configure both servers before running the command duplicate.  If someone could provide some guidelines on configuring two servers of the RMAN Duplicate command clearly then that would be great.  The other thing, I've tried makes a cold backup of all files for the database (data files, control files, etc.).  Copy them to the new server, and then re-create the control file to include the correct location and names for the data files and the redologs.  After you re-create the database control file does not start.  I suspect that it is because of differences in version.

If you can provide me with claire (ie. migration for Dummies) instructions to get one of these methods of work, it would be greatly appreciated.  I am also open to any other method you can think of to achieve what I'm trying to accomplish.

  • How to find the name of the Oracle database server?

    People,

    Hello. I installed Oracle Database 11 g 2 OS Oracle Linux 5. The installed directory is/home/user/OracleDB_Home and/home/user/OracleDB_Base.

Host name is "mylinux". Name of the database instance is PT853.

I use "mylinux" as the name of the database server, it does not work. I use another way to do as below:

    Export ORACLE_HOME = / home/user/OracleDB_Home

Can I use "mylinux ORACLE_HOME" as the name of the database server, it does not work either.

    My question is:

How to find the name of the database server Oracle with Oracle Linux 5 OS?

    Thank you.

You must learn the basic of database Oracle.

Please don't regard it not same as SQL server in terms of configuration.

You never specify the database server name in Oracle.

You specify the host name in only two places, 1) Tnsnames.ora/JDBC/ODBC (or any client you want to connect) and listener.ora) 2.

There was nothing called specify the name of the Oracle database from an oracle database server.

  • Oracle on Linux and Windows Client question database server: NetMgr Windows and Linux NetMgr

    People,

Hello. I have installed Oracle Database 11 g 2 server in the Oracle Linux 5 Starter PT853 Instance of database virtual machine. Then I installed Oracle Database 11 g 2 client for 32-bit Windows XP 64 - bit Windows virtual machine. Now I face the problem of connection of the VMs 2 as below:

In Manager Net Linux Server Machine:

    Service name: PT853
    Connection type: default database
    "TCP/IP Protocol".
    Host name: localhost
    Port name: 1521

    Listener: LISTENER
    Protocol: TCP/IP
    Host: localhost
    Port: 1521

I test the Service PT853 with "SYSADM" username and password "SYSADM". The connection is successful.
In the Windows XP Client computer, the information in the Net Manager is the same, but the connection is not successful. Its details are as below:

    NET Service Name: PT853
    Protocol: TCP/IP
The database Machine host name: localhost
    Port number: 1521
Name of the Basic Service: PT853
    Connection type: default database

I have test the Service using "SYSADM" UserID and password to 'SYSADM' which are the same with Linux, but this error: TNS: listener does not currently of service requested in connect descriptor.

I followed this tutorial http://www.vmware.com/support/ws5/doc/ws_devices_serial_2vms.html to configure 2 virtual machines in Windows 7 host machine.

In Windows XP Oracle database Client Installer directory, the "tnsnames.ora" file has an entry that matches the name Service in Net Manager. Directory of database server installation Oracle Linux, the file 'tnsnames.ora' has no entry because I installed the server of Oracle database with the instance of database startup PT853.

I tried to test 2 virtual machines in the way as below:

    In Linux, [user@localhost ~] $ping WindowsXP_HostName
    Release: Unknown host WindowsXP_HostName

At the Windows XP command prompt:
    C:\ping localhost.localdomain
Its release: ping localhost 127.0.0.1 with 32 bytes of data...
    Reply from 127.0.0.1: bytes = 32 time = 2ms TTL = 128

He meets a few times and then disconnected by itself. It seems that Windows XP is ping itself and not Linux server. The host name of the Linux server is 'localhost' as well. It is a kind of confusion for me.

From the information above, we can see that 2 VMs cannot connect between them. Net Manager in Windows XP Oracle Client unable to connect its Service PT853 with the Oracle Linux database server.

    My question is:

Can any folk tell me how to connect Oracle Client in Windows XP with the Oracle Linux database server?

    Very grateful in advance.

The host of the database Machine name: 192.168.196.102
    Port number: 1521
Name of the Basic Service: PT853
    Connection type: default database

I test the Service using the "SYSADM" username and password "SYSADM" which are the same with Linux and the connection is successful as well.

IP 192.168.196.102 is Linux. This means that oracle database Client in Windows XP may log into Oracle Database Server under Linux. Don't you think I'm not mistaken? If so, I'm very happy and very grateful to you.

"Do you think I'm not mistaken?

By definition, if you can establish a connection, then you are correct.

  • installation of Peoplesoft using an application server and a database server

IAM installing Peoplesoft on windows 2008R2 64-bit. I've had the Installer (combinations) of the matrix must be installed. I did a successful installation on the server test and its job very well. Now I have to make an installation on the production environment and in the production environment we use a 64-bit application (1 machine installed with windows 2008R2) server and a database server (1 machine installed with windows 2008R2) 64-bit words, we have two separate servers. So will there be additional tasks or settiings who have to do the installation. Thanks for giving me the details.

As long as the basic connectivity works between servers, there is not particular to do things.
If you do not plan to run components as CHRP (*) Peopletools on the database server, you will not need to install PeopleSoft (Peopletools nor) on the database server. In any case, it's much better to avoid the DBWizard of production database, manually creating db will be much closer to your expectations.
