Outlook Express pop servers settings on reboot

I use Outlook Express 6 to read my gmail account.  It worked well for a while.  For the past few days each time that I reboot my pop server name and port number has been changed.   I can't read incoming mail, if I can still send emails.  I have change the name and the port and save the settings.  Everything works fine - until the next reboot.

The parameters change to 127.0.0.1?

Disable analysis in your e-mail anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer of protection that devours the CPUs, slows down sending and receiving and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs, account setting changes and has even been responsible for the loss of messages. Your up-to-date A / V program will continue to protect you sufficiently. For more information, see:

Note that for many AV programs, it may be necessary to uninstall the program and reinstall in custom Mode and uncheck e-mail scanning when the option is available.

You may have a damaged identity especially if it's the default main identity. File | Identities | Add the new identity. Create a new one and try it. If all goes well, you can import your messages and address book from the old identity and delete it.

Note: Do not use the main word in the name of the new identity.

  • I can't delete emails from outlook express, pop box says up point cannot be deleted

I have a lot of emails and Outlook express will not let me delete one of them. A box appears and tells the message cannot be deleted?

Deleted items is probably damaged. On the off chance that you want messages to be saved in deleted items, (a garbage can), move them to a local folder, you create and then follow these steps.

Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

In Windows XP, the files of user OE (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder options | View.

With OE closed, find the DBX file for deleted items and delete it.  Another will be created automatically when you open OE.

To avoid this in the future:

Do not archive mail in the receipt or sent items box. Create your own user-defined folders and move messages you want to put in them. Empty the deleted items folder daily. Although the dbx files have a theoretical capacity of 2 GB, I recommend all a 300 MB max for less risk of corruption.

Information on the maximum size of the .dbx files that are used by Outlook Express:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/?kbid=903095

After you're done, followed by compacting your folders manually while working * off * and do it often.

Click Outlook Express at the top of the the folder tree so no folders are open. Then: File | Work offline (or double-click on work online in the status bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until the compacting is completed.

  • Outlook express in windows 7

I start outlook express in windows XP for my email. I how a new Dell with windows 7. I see that windows 7 has no defalt e-mail program and outlook express is not compatible. Is windows live mail the only option? It is similar to the function and appearance of outlook express? Can I transfer my address book, account groups and the emalis saves form outlook express on my old machine to live mail on my new machine? If yes how can I do this?

    Thank you geno007

Windows Live Mail is a good alternative to Outlook Express.  In many ways, they are similar programs.  If you transfer your data and settings (and emails) for Windows 7 via the transfer of the program and then install Live Mail, I think (haven't checked myself) that it will bring together all of your Outlook Express emails and settings automatically and incorporate those into the new program.  If not there is always the option to import if it is necessary.

  • I can't install Outlook Express, I don't understand what to put in for the incoming mail POP or outgoing server - help please

I have Yahoo Mail but have trouble with Explorer and simply do not know how to check questions for Outlook Express.  How do I know which is my server or I need this pop thing?  I'm with bt internet.com sorry to be so obtuse that my senior moments seem to have become weeks and days!

Although Outlook Express would not be my choice (windows live mail would be) fundamentally he need to go into settings and configure the outgoing server to look for (something like smtpout.bt.internet.com) and the incoming server to get (something like pop.bt.internet.com)

  • When I went to open Outlook Express a pop-up message reported a problem and said he had to close (which is). Since then, I was unable to open my mail.

When I went to open Outlook Express a pop-up message reported a problem and said he had to close (which is).  Since then, I was unable to open my mail.  What can I do?

original title: exit express does not open.  What can I do?

If Outlook Express does not open, Folders.dbx is corrupt.

In Windows XP, Win2K & Win2K3 the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder options | View.

The path to the message will be very similar to this:

    C:\Documents and Settings\Your User of utilisateur\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\ {long string of letters & numbers} \Microsoft\Outlook Express

With OE closed, find the Folders.dbx file and delete it.  Another will be created automatically when you open OE.

    Note these possible side effects:

When you re - start OE, it will build a new index of all *.dbx files it can read and create a new Folders.dbx. However, understand that you will lose the mail directory structure and message rules will probably have to be edited.

  • IMAP POP and all emails are deleted from the Outlook Express trash folder

Changed POP IMAP email. If I go to my web mail and delete an email, it's in the trash. If I erase it from Outlook Express, it is neither in the OL bin or the trash of web mail... It disappears by the server and the Outlook. Go Daddy tells me that it's something on the side of Outlook, because they can operate through the correct web e-mail... I checked all my settings that I can find and I don't have to remove once to disconnecting or changing files... My purge is not set to happen... Need help... Thank you.

It's as well as IMAP works, everything happens on the server, and what you see is a local representation. On new customers of e-mail (like Windows Live Mail and Outlook 2010) you have the ability to move these messages deleted on the record of deleted items on the server. you do not have this option with Outlook Express. 2 questions:

    (1) overnight, outlook express disappeared, along with all its parameters. I understand that this is now transferred to windows mail...   HOWEVER, how can I get my POP settings, etc., (to set up windows mail) as well as all my emails stored?  These important!

    (2) all my favorites from Internet Explorer disappeared...

I am running Windows Vista and have made for at least 2 years...  Suddenly disappeared from one day to the next.

Outlook Express is part of XP and has never been a part of Vista...

Vista came with Windows Mail as default mail program.

  • 7 eliminated Windows Outlook Express & all files and settings. Are they buried somewhere were I can get back in?

Laptop is a Dell Studio 15, about 1 month.
    Upgrade Vista to Windows 7.
Previously, I used Outlook Express and saved some important emails into different folders in Outlook.   I didn't know that outlook Express would be gone.  Message says "e-mail & settings files will remain available after the upgrade".  Loaded a new email program (Mozilla Thunderbird) but can not find some old files of e-mail.

If you use Outlook on a previous version of Windows, and then once you have upgraded to Windows 7 then you should be able to reinstall Outlook and open your previous email information.  For longer instructions with migration check Outlook the

  • Remove a pop-up for compacting messages in Outlook Express 6.

I was doing a pop-up asking me if I want to compact messages in Outlook Express in order to free disk space. It's very boring and very frequent. I don't know how to do it go away. I am able to get rid of him, and if so, how?

As mentioned above, it will be in the control panel.

In the case of Windows Search, you must be told to stop indexing OE.

In the control panel. Indexing Options. Change. Clear the check box for Outlook Express.

If you see the prompt again, you may leave compact once to clear the meter in the registry. It won't cause any harm.

    *********************

But, also, you said that you have modified the registry to 0. Have you ever he let compact once?
