• Problem of paint brush, intensity white vs black intensity

  I have a problem with my paint brush tool.

  If I paint on a black layer with my paint brush tool with: white / 05% opacity / 100% throughput, white is more visible than if I paint with black on a white layer (same settings).

• White paint does not

  It makes me batty, and I really hope someone has an answer.

  I'm a casual user of PS, pick up maybe once a month (LR does most of what I need).

  The last time I'm sure it worked 5/21, the last time I was in PS.

  Pretty simple stuff... Add a layer, add a mask, paint in black and white on the mask to pass or not (in this case on a layer of filter Gaussian Blur)

  Usually, I do the outline with a big brush and then press X to switch colors and clean up the edges.

  Tonight, I did the same thing (on a layer of exposure).  Except in white paint did nothing.  Not at all.

  I could switch to black and it worked.  I could go to gray (128, 128, 128) and it worked (although never gray replace black, only a white).

  It's like something has changed my painting on the mask layer as an additive, and no one replacing the other.

  Which makes permutation of brushes to fix the edges is more work.

  Between 5/21 and tonight, the only difference I can think is that I got an update for PS

  Upgrade affected this?  Or is there a setting somewhere, I changed?

  I am at a total loss.

  Check the blending mode that you define for the tool.

  You expect Normal, but it's on something else.

• MS Paint block of work shows no full screen; cannot extend.

  I run XP Pro MS.  When I open MS Paint, the work area white occupies only a little more than a quarter of the total area of work.   The rest is grey and I can't expand the white canvas.

  Why is this and how do I solve this problem?  Stupid!

  In Windows XP, by default, the workspace in Microsoft paint is a quarter of the total area of work.

  Try the step to increase the work area in Microsoft paint or Zoom below.

  (a) open Microsoft paint, and then click the view tab.

  (b) later, click on Zoom and then large size or custom size.

• Real white background

  Hoping a PSE guru can help out me. In the attached picture, I am trying to achieve a real white background to post-secondary studies. I put a real white box in the picture appears the gray background, which is located in the original shot. (I understand that it would be better if I could achieve true white with the camera in the original photo, but this seems to be the best I can do with the camera. I set the white balance and over-exposed as I could without washing on the subject. Still a gray background).

  The problem I have is that each tool PSE that I use to try to adjust the background image washes out the hairs of the grain. Ideally, I would like to be able to create a perfect mask so that I can kockout just the background. In this way, I can adjust the tones of the subject without affecting the surrounding area.

  I came with a luminance mask. You may be able to do better with a higher resolution image file.

  1. Copy the image to the Clipboard (select >, then edit > copy)
  2. Add a levels adjustment layer
  3. ALT + left click on the mask of the adjustment layer to display the mask in the edit box
  4. Paste (Edition > paste) the image in the editing area. It will come as an image in grayscale (luminance mask)
  5. Go to menu Enhance > adjust lighting > levels to open the levels for the luminance mask settings. Move the sliders to the pixels you want affected become white and the other black pixels (or as close as you can get).
  6. Click on the layer of the image to display the full color image in the editing area
  7. Return the layer with the sliders and levels adjustment, adjust the brightest pixels again.
  8. This technique has left some grey spots.
  9. Open an empty layer above, press CTRL + SHIFT + ALT + E to make a visible layer of timbre (it includes all the underlying layers)
  10. Open another layer of vacuum upstairs and paint stains with a white brush.

  Note: Step #2 refers to the levels adjustment layer. Step #5 refers to adjustments of levels not on a separate layer.

  Had this same problem for about a month. Tried to get the Genius Bar to replace the phone, but it was out of warranty. Cracked, it opens and when looking at phone from there is a chip near top right corner connected with Ribbon on the touchscreen cable. Tighten the screws on the chip in it and it works without problem since a few days now.  Hope it lasts until September.

• Grey flicker LCD screen

  Hi all!

  I have a problem that I suspect that some of you might have known. I have an Acer Aspire V5 - 573G for a little over a year now. Yesterday my LCD started flickering of colours grey and white. He normally gets back to normal as soon as I gently tap the screen. A half hour ago, the screen went totally crazy as you can see in the image below. Taps did not help more and I had to stop and restart in order to get back to normal again.

  So how is this problem caused? I saw many people wrote about this on other ACER models. Are different views on what is wrong (backlight, cable, graphic, bios). Do you know what is really the cause and how it can be fixed?

  I'd appreciate some info really, because this notebook is vital for my work.

  Watch this video. The connector is located behind the inverter. This is probably your problem.

• Photo B & W saved now resembles an oil painting

  I scanned a crystal clear black and white photo (300 dpi) and saved as a bmp. I opened the photo in MS Paint and cropped the edges (I noticed that the attributes MS Paint says it's color. I have left). I saved the picture and closed MS Paint.

  When I opened the photo in MS Paint, it seems that the picture was converted into a painting in oil with many parts of the photo showing a strange shade of dark purple and green (with black, white and shades of gray). What's happening? How do I NOT make it look like an oil painting?

  I then started on another copy of the original, but this time I changed the attribute MS Paint Color "Black and White", and 90% of the picture is black. I guess the attribute of "Black and White" means exactly that; Black and white with no shades of gray.

  In what format are you saved the image on MS Paint? (BMP, JPEG, PNG)?

  If you register as a 256 color .bmp or other formats .bmp, then Yes, you will notice the shadows in the photos.

  There is no sudden break in the gradient.

  Measure the values of your image. The gradient is in the stages of RGB 1,1,1.

  I guess you have a display problem if the gradient looks not good for you. Try to recalibrate your monitor.

  OK, looking at the problem, the shadow area is clearly delimited, that is going to be useful.  So I chose the shadow with a quick selection area and improve the contour and it gave a fairly high feather (3.0), I copied while the selection into a new layer.  The advantage of this is that it will simplify the masking.

  

  Open an adjustment layer curves and hang it on the copied grey area.  Click the icon of the hand and the image on his right cheek, and then drag upward to match the area of shade No.  If the entire image is made, you don't clip the layer curves (the icon on the left)

  

  You will find that you can solve most of it with the first curves layer, but there are a few deep shadows, so open a new layer of curves, hang it and adjust.  Ignore the first fix getting more light.  Invert the mask layer and paint back with a white soft brush.

  This lets you close enough, but you'll be lucky to get a homogeneous solution at this stage, so that's where we cheat a little.

  Select the top layer and make a layer merged copy (Shift Ctrl Alt e)

  Open the filter Camera RAW and apply some clarification negative to soften skin tones and some of the objects of our edges of curves layer.

  Now select the Patch tool, select one of the objects and drag to a clean skin area.  This will be same on the tonal range in difficulty to remove the artifact.

  Repeat for the other problem areas.

  Negative clarity will have softened the whole image, then add a layer mask and reverse.  Peindre paint in front of the White Lady, and then masked her eyes, teeth, etc. with black.
