Palm m100 hotsync cable

I have an old m100 palm hotsync cable or original. I have a DELL XPS 420 with Vista 32 bit OS. Usb ports on the computer do not support the old hotsync cable. Where can I find a cable that goes

be able to connect to my computer?

Thank you very much for your information if necessary. I havn't used this old PDA in a long time and it is still very useful, because I use it to download the schedules of the airlines. I work for an airline.

Once again thank you.

Is this a normal phenomenon for housing the hotsync cable or side of the phone to collapse?

No, it is not normal. How long have you had the Centro?

If it is less than 1 year from the date of purchase, you should be able to get the cable replaced. Contact Verizon and they should replace the cable for you.

  • Palm m100 error: could not open to make the list of database

I have an old Palm m100 and never even use your handheld more.  I have the software on my windows XP desktop.  The program worked very well and the other day, I tried to open it and received an error message "Unable to open to make the list of database."

I did save about 30 days ago, but have since been several dates in the calendar.  I don't really care "do" list, but still failed to open the program.

I thought to uninstall and then reinstall.  When I go into Add/Remove Programs, I don't see the program of palm - where could I find it?  I also tried to restore to an earlier date of a few days, but that has not worked.  Any other ideas?

If 'do' database does not open, you can try the following to see if you can open the program.

Go to program files on drive c. find the Palm folder. In the Palm folder, find your username folder, it will be a similar name to your hotsync username. In the user name folder, find the folder tasks/todo.

Right-click and rename the folder, set a .old on the file extension. Try and open Palm desktop.

Palm desktop must be in the Add/Remove Programs list in the control panel and should be included as a Palm or Palmone.

Click on the following link for the guide of the user for your handheld.

User Guide (PDF: 2.4 MB / 212 pages)

The best way to protect your data is to export the data in each category of Palm Desktop in a separate folder on your PC.

Create a new folder on your PC somewhere that suits. Name it something like Palm Desktop data. Click on the link below and follow the instructions on this page for the export procedure.

    http://www.Palm.com/cgi-bin/cso_kbURL.cgi?id=28734

Make sure you only select everything for the beach in the export window.

With the data stored in the created folder, make a copy of this file and save it on a USB key, cd - rw or external hard drive.

Whenever you change in Palm Desktop, export the data that has been changed in this file and save again to external media.

With this process you can always import the data in Palm Desktop, whenever you have a problem with the data in Palm Desktop, or if your computer/hard drive/device crash.

  • Palm IIIXE HotSync

Her husband retired and wants to load his Palm IIIxe to our Windows XP Home.  It has a serial port connection.  Already have Palm M125 (mine) on him and it works very well.  M125 is the USB connection.  As far as I can tell, both use the same software.  Mine syncs fine.  Its says "the connection between your handheld computer and the desktop could not be established.  Please check your configuration and try again. "I'm not a computer whiz to the extent where the program installation, etc, but I get.  I spent so much time trying to find what to do - searched the web, etc., even talked to Palm - all to nothing does not.  Currently, I'm reluctantly ready (or fortunately) trash.  This forum is my last resort.  Hope someone can help me through this.  Thank you.

Did you say the Manager HotSync (small red and blue in the lower right corner of your screen Windows icon) to use the parameter "Local"?  I assume that you have a serial port on the computer, right?  If this is not the case, how you connect to the computer?

The "Local" setting will say it looks like the serial port.  Don't forget not "Local" and "Local USB" are checked.

  • Palm Zire Hotsync problems

Old Zire on Vista o/s computer.  While improving the old Palm software, I lost all the data on the desktop.  When Hotsynching my pocket with the new software (ACCESS) computer, all failed.  So I uninstalled the new software (ACCESS) and reinstalled the old Zire software from the CD I have.  It took some time, and then sent me error messages had not transferred data, contacts, etc..  Audit of the Office confirmed later.  Nothing there.  No help from the Palm.  Someone has any idea how to solve this problem?

Have you read the sticky post above titled "Win7 and Vista sync instructions...". ».

You have installed the file PalmHotsyncsetup of Pimlico software?  I guess that could be the problem if it is not installed.

  • Failure to connect the HotSync Palm TX 4.2 and Office XP Pro

I have a Palm TX with v. 4.2 OS and HotSync residing in a XP Pro PC.

When you perform the HotSync operation, controlled by the cable button, either very often fails because unable to connect to the PC or the device is not recognized.

After several attempts, HotSync works fine, using the same USB port.

This problem isn't to blame on the desktop environment or is there something that can be fixed on the Palm software?

The TX comes with Palm OS 5.4.9 installed - 4.2 is very probably the version of Palm Desktop, you are running.

The problem could be easily the cable itself, or dirty contacts on the bottom of the unit.  Check the HotSync port gold on the TX sign of dirt, oil or corrosion.  Cleaning of this area with Contact Cleaner (available at electronics stores) or isopropyl alcohol and a cotton swab can solve the problem.

If you have another available HotSync cable that you can borrow, I would suggest that-a break in one of the tiny wires inside could produce the symptoms you describe.

  • Don't Palm IIIc none liked HotSync under WinME

Several years ago I was given a Palm IIIc (in his original box) which the owner no longer wanted. I installed Palm desktop on a WinME computer and had no real issues running Hotsync. I use the Palm almost exclusively to run a business application that I developed for internal use.

Recently, I decided that I should update the application (especially just the data set used, in fact, not the code itself). But I was doing mixed "cannot connect" and "lost connection" messages and now all I get "cannot establish a connection.

    A couple of other facts:

-It's been almost three years since I tried to Hotsync anything (the last time I have updated the soft, actually)

-the WinME machine had problems with hard drive and I had to reinstall the operating system in its partition (the disk is divided into several partitions, and so several logical drives)

Here's what I've tried so far:

-Reinstall Palm Desktop original. Shows HotSync icon in the taskbar and the Task Manager indicates that it is running. After pressing the Hotsync button on the cradle, however, nothing happens on WinME. After a bit the Palm IIIc beeps and shows one of his two messages

-Update Palm Desktop to version 4.14. Same (lack of) lead, even though I had to change the default of USB to serial connection before I could be certain

-unplugged the power brick and leave the cradle not powered for awhile. When it is plugged in, same result (lack of)

-install the original Palm Desktop on a second hard drive (the machine has two hard drives now, each with a copy of WinME in a logical drive.) So that only one drive is connected at a given time, however). Same result (lack of)

-reset the Palm IIIc. Same result (lack of)

-a pencil eraser new to clean the contacts of the Palm IIIc and the cradle. Gee, they are more clear now, but same result (lack of). Also, after that, I noticed that the bottom of the cradle around the Hotsync button was quite warm enough. Don't know if that was the case after any previous repair attempt.

My thoughts at the moment are running in the sense that the COM port is somehow wrong, or the serial cable does not get a correct contact with the connector on the motherboard (but he did before, so why not now?). Software, I'm not at all clear on the 'property' thing or if Hotsync really cares yet about that (I can say the name that appears under "owner" on the Palm IIIc is my first name and the first letters of my last name - do not know why the last name isn't here)

    I'm not quite of ideas:

-get a USB-serial converter and launch Palm Desktop 4.14 under WinME

-get a USB-serial converter and run some version of Palm Desktop is the best for Windows XP (I have a laptop that is running Windows XP)

-partition the hard drive of my computer (64-bit) of WinVista, install WinME in the new partition as a dual-boot option, run the original Palm Desktop using the serial port on the computer

Any thoughts on which (or quite other things) may be more likely to succeed?

It seems that I finally managed to transfer my update on my Palm 3 c application. It seems that do the same thing again and again wait something different to happen is not as crazy as some would have people think.

I have clean the contacts on the Plam 3 c and the docking station with 70% isopropyl alcohol. I saw a few recommendations for 90 to 95%, but 70% is all I had on hand. Almost the same result (lack of).

Because side PC Office wake up for a moment, even if it never got past the first step (no username never showed up, for example).

Other support button hotsync got zilch.

But I had seen this now a couple of times before. The common denominator in all cases, is that the Palm 3 c has been out of the cradle for several hours. When it is placed on the base, the first attempt to hotsync caused a reaction on the side office, but no attempt after makes.

I don't know why this might be important. As far as I know is I put the two 3 c Palm and Hotsync Manager at 9600 baud (common slower speed), the Palm 3 c out of the docking station for hours six or more, put it at left back, pressed, press the hotsync button and watched the awakening PC side and start going through her routine - and this time without stopping.

At least for a while. HotSync did not actually finish. My app has been downloaded first, but the log shows that, after that several apps integrated tried to synchronize (some did, some do not have), and after that the Palm 3 c tried to download copies of everything he had installed on the PC. He has managed to download several, but not all of them - "lost connection" again.

I love really on it, partly because I already have copies of everything. I don't like that I finally had my app downloaded update. Because I don't really have a rational explanation, I guess now I have a superstition to follow when I want to download an app!

  • Palm TX connects to the computer via WiFi for Hotsync

I tried the network Hotsync on all my computers, XP, Vista 32 and Vista 64 (which started the whole attempt) and the device fails to connect to the computer, even if I set the IP address.

My wireless network see the Palm and I am able to access the Internet through it, but it does not connect to my computer. Any suggestions?

Here is my Wifi Hotsync help file:

    WiFi HotSync with a TX

    1. on your PC, locate the Manager HotSync (small HotSync icon in the lower tray of the right tool on a Winbox). Click top and check 'Network', then click again and select Setup.

    2. choose the network at the top tab in the window that opens and locate your HotSync name in the list. Make sure it is checked.

    3. press the button of TCP/IP and look for the IP listed for "main PC address. Write it down.

    4. turn on the Wifi on your Palm and you connect to your router.

    5. on your Palm, select the HotSync program and press the word "Network" over the HotSync icon in the middle of the screen. Below, enter the IP address that you noted in step 3. (Include periods!).

    6. tap the HotSync icon big above the IP address and hang in there!

    7. If you stand and nothing happens try a HotSync cable, then retry the HotSync Wifi. Sometimes, information is to be transferred from your PC once you check the network option. Also, don't forget to watch for any activity of firewall ask you questions about "HotSync.exe tries to access your hard drive" etc. You may need to define a rule to allow him to.

On your TX, check these settings in the drop in Hotsync:

    Modem Sync: network

    LanSync: LANSync

Network configuration: (Wifi should be listed as one of the networks)

  • Palm Pre - cable USB disconnect annoying message

Whenever I have my my Palm Pre USB cable, I get the "data has been corrupted, but was retrieved. Always take out your phone from your desktop computer before disconnecting"a message.

I get this even if I unplugged first using the icon 'Remove hardware safely' in my taskbar, to "Remove USB mass storage device".

All had experience of the world, and you have a suggestion about how this message can be deleted?  Or is this a bug with the current Palm OS 1.02?

You need to go to my computer and looking for Palm Pre as a hard drive. Right click and select eject and you stop trying to get this message.

  • HotSync does not new/chanaged the Tungsten E2 palm contacts transfer

Total frustration.  New Palm Tungsten E2 because I was so frustrated with a Treo that was nothing but trouble.  With the help of USB HotSync.  New and modified contacts are not moved to the Palm from the desktop.  The options (thanks to a previous thread) are correct (I checked).  What condition would stop the hotsync to move a new or modified entry for tungsten? Using Windows XP SP 3 Outlook 2003.

    Thank you.

Are you sync'ing the new device the same username in Palm Desktop as an older device?
If you are, this will cause problems on the new device. When you synchronize the device, it records the device settings, applications, 3rd party, preferences, etc. in the backup folder in the folder on the PC username. When you synchronize the new device it copies the content of the backup for the old device folder in the new device. This will cause corruption in the settings of the new device, which causes erratic behavior of the new device.

Looks like you may need to reset your device and rename your backup folder. Go to http://www.palm.com/cgi-bin/cso_kbURL.cgi?ID=887 and follow the directions to do a hard reset. Then before of you hotsync your data back you will need to rename your backup folder, to do than go here.

    XP
C:\Program files\palm or palm one\ [hotsync username]------and rename your backup
    file Backup.Old

    Vista
    Start--> documents\Palm OS Desktop\ [hotsync username]------and rename your backup
    file Backup.Old

Then hotsync from your current name of hotsync and all your contacts, calendar,
    tasks and memos coming back.

Show the file extensions for XP or Vista

    XP
If you cannot view the extensions of file on your PC I would you open a
folder, go to Tools--> Folder Options--> View (tab) and under Show hidden
files and folders to uncheck Hide extensions of known file types.

    Vista
Open control Panel, go to--> View (tab) and under show hidden folder Options
files and folders to uncheck Hide extensions of known file types.

  • Problem of his Palm t5 (research)

    Hello!

Two days ago my t5 palm stopped play sounds via the internal speaker (his helmet seems to be ok). Posts on this forum say that it is a hardware problem (micro-switch is stuck in a headphone jack). At least in my case, I need a more complex explanation:

-The internal speaker stopped working without any interference in the headphones (I do not plug headphones into the Palm). Most people have this problem after disconnecting the headset.

-J' was able to set my speakers to life by simply plugging in the AC adapter / CC. President Ping with a usual sound and worked for a few hours, that dies again.

-At least twice, I could hear sounds after a hard reset. But only until I tried to launch any application. Then he was silent again.

-As for now, I hear 'clicks' of the speaker when I connect my T5 to hotsync cable and press the hotsync button. Still more - if I have press the hotsync button while the cable is not plugged into the USB port - and wait 30 to 40 seconds, I see a box with the message "hotsync failure" alarm and can hear the sound of the mono speaker alarm Palm. So it is again being mute.

With a background in electronics, I opened the unit and checked the sound elements visible:

-L' speaker is OK, the measured resistance is recommended on the speaker (7.8 vs 8.0 ohm)

    -Points of motherboard are OK

-There is a voltage V 1.68 on the two points vs. the ground, but no difference in voltage between the pads.

-5-pin headset plug seems to be OK. Microswitch pads (two pads on a basis of a Jack) have no resistance measured when the socket is empty and are disconnected when headphones are plugged in.

-J' have tried to short-circuit buffers with external cable - but no effect dip switch - sound is always redirected to the helmet.

-J' tried to connect the internal speaker to the headphone channel. It works, but the rate of release of palm is unacceptable (headphones are devices to 30 ohms, and I believe that internal speaker is connected through some elements of energy saving).

I'm completely perplexed with my problem of his palm. This may not be a pure hardware problem as he plays sometimes a few sounds via mono speaker. But if this is a problem in a software - how in hell, he survives device resets?

    Any ideas?

    Hello!

Indeed, the problem was multiple connector. It seems that cable flat keyboard connection and connector multiple base with a main card had isolation deteriorated between some of his sons and a surface of steel on the base. Now, I remember that some time ago my Palm was irregularly to hot-sync mode even when the hot sync cable was not plugged.

After that I put a piece of insulation between the metal base and a flat cable (which covers the hard edge of the base metal) mono speaker returned to life. Please put this in a FAQ or KB if possible.

It would be nice for palm-engineers (if palm still has some) to build a utility program that allows the user to select the device audio default substitution of the system. See cool head for treo on sourceforge (does not work on palm t-series).

    Thank you!

  • Guarantee of Palm

My Z22 has stopped working (can not turn on) after two months.  The guys warrany Palm service request serial number.  The number on the back of the Z22 is worn.  Can not put the device to read the number of Roma.  The guy says "sorry, if you can't give the serial number then we cannot not help."  I was trying to explain that it's not my fault that their serial number is printed in such a way that it wears out and I can't turn on due to a hardware problem.  The guy repeats his sentence like a parrot.  I asked for the supervisor, and nobody is there, he said.  I heard the other horror stories about Palm guaranteed.  Be warned.
