Pavilion s3505f: AHCI on Pavilion s3505f

Hello

I just replaced the hard drive on my s3505f of Pavilion with an SSD and wanted to activate the AHCI on the computer.  I wasn't able to find a reference on the SATA mode in the BIOS of the PC (Phoenix - AwardBIOS r. 5.23).  Have not been able to find definitive information on the SATA ports to the motherboard Irvine for the PC, but I suspect they are SATA 1 (1.5 Gb/s) instead of SATA 2 (3 Gb/s with the AHCI support).  Transfer rates by an average of 110 MB/s in non-AHCI mode.

I am aware that the AHCI drivers must be enabled in Vista before a change of SATA to AHCI mode in the BIOS.

No confirmation on the types of port SATA card mother Irvine would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

You are the very welcome.

Yes, AHCI is a subset of RAID in some respect, but not to an SSD work better on a model as old as yours.

The only time where RAID is as good as that AHCI is if you have a PC with an Intel Series 7 or more recent chipset, which has SSD trim support RAID if you can't change the settings from AHCI storage controller, and you have installed the Intel Rapid Storage Technology technology for this chipset driver.

The only thing RAID will do to your PC would be to allow for native command queuing, which is ideal for a mechanical hard drive, but a litle on an SSD, since there are no moving parts in SSD.

Here's the only native made command queues...

http://en.Wikipedia.org/wiki/Native_Command_Queuing

Motherboards are made to HP requirements by the MFR of motherboard.

If there is no setting in the BIOS to change the setting of the drive controller, then I doubt that it will be possible to do - even with a BIOS update.

    Hello
I learned a lot from browsing these forums already, for that I thank you.
It seemed like the perfect place for my questions.
Due to the limits of my technical knowledge and the age of the components in question, I'm having a hard time finding Info for comparison for the task I have in mind.
Essentially what I would do, is make the best targeted computer audio I can with what I have on the spot.

Ideally, I would like to be able to use 2 monitors and use the second HD as slave for just load and run samples and VSTi, while programs are on the other hard drive.
Okay, so I have two desktop computers, each with a bit of a problem...

Specific details: The Pavilion Slimline currently does not start any type of display, so I'm leaning towards a Mobo problem, but have not spent anytime understand? The Presario was a 'noise' the other day according to my wife, but doesn't have a car, I'm leaning towards a rattle HD or a fan?

I also agree with doing a clean OS install if it is meant to be of value, (where are these records?)
I would use Interface Audio USB Steinberg CI1 MixCraft 6 as my program main recording/editing.

  • HP Pavilion Slimline s3505f - change of graphics card?

Hi, I have a HP Pavilion Slimline s3505f, FJ465AA product number.

I would like to know if it is possible to change the video card in this computer?  I wanted to install a HDMI graphics card so I would be able to plug my computer directly on my HD TV.  Does anyone know if this is possible in this model of computer?  I looked here and there on the net and just could not find an answer for this model.

    Thank you

The s3505f has only a power of 160 watts.  I don't know of any video card that will run with a 160 Watt power supply.  Slimlines PCs were not designed to be upgraded.

The most recent model slimlines have slightly greater power and low-power, low-profile video cards are available.

  • HP Pavilion dv7-6103ei AHCI/RAID?

    Hi all

    Greetings from a poster first.

I have a Pavilion DV7-6103ei laptop, and it has been modernized with a Samsung PM810/series-470 128 GB SSD with a 1 TB of HARD drive in the second span.

I'm not necessarily interested in a RAID configuration, but I prefer the disks to run in AHCI mode.  However, I see that the BIOS does not support changing the interface of AHCI.

I did some research and it seems that these laptops do not support AHCI.  Is this correct?  I'm not able to find information on the RAID, which allows to AHCI when there is no current RAID configuration.

I have intel that Rapid Storage Technology installed.

Is my only option to run these HDDs in IDE mode?  Seems a bit primitive for a laptop as powerful.

If anyone can advise me on a work around or so to be able to operate in AHCI mode, let me know.

    Thank you.

    Greg

You are the very welcome, Greg.

Your BIOS of laptop computers is indeed set to AHCI and unfortunately, I do not know why the HARD drive is labeled as a scsi device.

I guess that's just the Windows name assigned to the drive.  I've seen this before on other PCs.

You can install the latest driver from Intel's Intel RST and to see if it makes a difference what anyone.

3rd file listed.  Was also the AHCI drivers too.

  • SSD in AHCI on Pavilion m9350be mode

    Hello

I installed an SSD (Samsung 840 EVO) in my Pavilion m9350be. Windows 7 recognized the HD and the drive works normally. Impossible to run in AHCI mode. When I change to AHCI raid in the BIOS, the PC unbootable.

Thanks a lot for your help!

    Hello:

You would need to change the BIOS to AHCI setting and then reinstall the operating system.

I don't know anyway, that you can modify it by adding the driver AHCI RAID mode and then change the setting to AHCI.

You can add the IDE mode AHCI driver, restart and change the setting in the BIOS to AHCI, but not with the RAID.

  • Pavilion dv6-7039TX: stand up SATA AHCI

I have a computer laptop dv6 Pavilion. The default configuration of the drive is RAID. I recently updated to an SSD, and after reading on the Internet and using the Samsung software, I found that AHCI is better than for one SSD RAID. How can I change this?

    Ok.

Windows 10 already has a newer driver included, so you are well as Hüffer said.

If you go to applications > Windows administrative tools > defragment and optimize disks, you should be able to optimize your training and the program will signal the cut player.

That will let you know that your SSD is working as it should.

  • BIOS of HP Pavilion dv6-6175 sf AHCi

Hi, I want to install an SSD in my HP Pavilion laptop dv6-6175 sf.

I read that I have to set my bios in Ahci mode before installing a new copy of windows again

on my new ssd but I don't seem to find that option in my bios. Is the mode Ahci is defined by deafult?

    Thank you.

    Hello

HP bios are fairly locked and you will not see the option, but AHCI is the default setting.

  • AHCI on HP Pavilion 1255dx g7

    Hello!

I have a HP Pavilion 1255dx g7 and I need know how I can activate the AHCI in bios menu because not have any possibility to change and I need to use the AHCI mode...

    What can I do that?

    Hello

It is enabled by default and there is no advanced bios Setup.

  • Activate the AHCI on HP Pavilion Dv6-2119tx (WF606PA)

To install an SSD for my HP Pavilion Dv6-2119tx (WF606PA), I had a quick glance in the bios but no option to turn on AHCI as going to reinstall Windows 7 as do not know if my laptop can handle Windows 8.

If you want to upgrade to an SSD do yourself the favor of buying in upgrade kit with a sata to usb cable and software for cloning.  That he will do a pretty painless upgrade.

Since there is no option to change to AHCI in the BIOS, you will need to do after installing Windows 7 in the registry.

See this document from HP for more information on installing a SSD.

    Hello

I was wondering if it was possible to enable the AHCI on my pavilion on Windows 7 dv9252eu.

    Thank you very much

    Kind regards

    Hello:

The chipset nVidia in your model does not support the AHCI or RAID, it's why AHCI cannot be activated.

Only Intel based dv9xxx models have AHCI support.

  • Mode of AHCI BIOS HP Pavilion A6230N

I have a HP Pavilion Desktop PC, model No. A6230N and I am trying to configure the SATA controller to use AHCI instead of (I think) FDI, because I want to install OS X Snow Leopard as a second operating system on the computer, but nowhere in the BIOS is an option for me to change the SATA mode. In respect of SATA controller, I have only options for people with DISABILITIES, 1 SATA and SATA 1 + 2. Is there a way to change the SATA on this PC?

Unfortunately, the Narra2 BIOS motherboard does not have the ability to switch the SATA controller in AHCI mode.

  • How to enable the AHCI in HP pavilion dv6700t?

    Hello

I was wondering if it was possible to enable the AHCI on my pavilion dv6700t.  Chipset intel is a much older model, P965 of 2008 but still works fine.

In Manager devices, under IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers, he says that the ich8m-e/m sata AHCI is enabled.  It is reasonable to assume that AHCI is therefore already activated? I have no way to do it via the BIOS, which limited configuration options. It's the PhoenixBIOS l58.

I am considering installing a SSD as my boot (and only) and I read that the AHCI is important for functions such as the NCQ, etc..

    Thanks for your wisdom!

    Jason

    Hi, Jason:

    Yes, that's correct.

    AHCI is enabled by default.

This is why everyone struggled to install XP on laptops. AHCI drivers must be loaded before installing XP at the prompt F6 or slipstreamed into a copy of the XP Setup disk.

Now... you can do whatever you want, but I don't know of anyone on this forum who has installed an SSD in any model dv6000/dv9000 Series notebook.

If you know it's possible, thanks for posting back after installing a SSD and let us know how you did.

  • No AHCI in the BIOS pavilion g6 option

I was wondering if AHCI was enabled by default, because there is no option to enable/disable in the BIOS. My laptop is a hp pavilion 1d46x with BIOS F.46 g6.

    Thank you

    Oliver

    Hi, Oliver:

Yes, AHCI is defined by default in most, if not all, of recent years HP consumer notebooks.

You will find only the possibility of changing the mode of SATA device on HP business laptops.

  • How can I check if the AHCI is enabled on my Pavilion dv7 1199ed?

    Hi all

I recently bought a new SSD (Samsung 830 128 GB) to replace one of the two HARD drives containing faulty sectors. To use the TRIM, I need the SATA controller that AHCI enabled. How I check that? BIOS is unfortunately limited.

If AHCI is not enabled, how can I activate it?

Some data: Pavilion dv7 1199ed (I have no product number, because I'm sending you this issue of my work (don't tell my boss), my laptop is at home), using triple boot Vista, Ubuntu 12.04 (both on the HARD drive) and Debian Wheezy (freshly installed on the SSD).

    Thank you!

    Hello

Even if the option is not available in the bios, AHCI is enabled by default.

    Kind regards
