Partition problem - cannot remove (or combine)

Fact a clean install of Vista and now my hard drive is partitioned. Now, I have no space on my C drive because there is a partition, and I can't delete the D drive.

When I go back to the computer management, and there are two partitions. It shows now 2 local disks: 'Disk Local (c) which has 281 MB of free space of 6.83 GB' and 'Local disk (d :)) who has 68,89 GB free of 71,15 Go' (also 71 unallocated).

Everything is on the C: which is now complete. I tried to delete the D: by right clicking on the D: but "Delete volume" is grayed out. I tried to remove it to the prompt (doc) that doesn't work anymore.

How can I delete this partition and have my entire hard drive to return?

Help, please!

Jessica

Above is how you're supposed to do.

We cannot solve the problems that you experience when you use 3rd Party Software like KillDisk.

I suggest that you do a clean install of Vista and use the management tools built-in drive to partiiton the hard drive, if you wish.

  • ISCSI dead and damaged VMFS partition metadata - cannot remove iSCSI

    Background:

    -1 Server vCenter

-5 ESXi hosts connected to vCenter Server

-2 (table 1 and table 2) iSCSI storage arrays

We started getting errors in metadata corruption table-1 VMFS and migrated all storage table-2 VMS.

The migration has been successful and virtual machines are operating normally.

Directories and drives hard virtual VM have been removed from table-1 automatically by the migration.

VM parameters see table-2 as the data store for all migrated virtual machines.

HOWEVER - we're still showing 4 virtual machines under related objects-> VM on table-1 (we moved more than 20 virtual machines, and only 4 had this problem). It is the only reference I can find these table-1 and virtual machines. I think that it is somehow related to metadata VMFS corrupt. I completely disconnected table-1 of the network and virtual computers operate normally if clearly is not yet using table-1.

THE PROBLEM - I can not remove the reference from table-1 my ESXi hosts iSCSI because they are 'in service' according to vCenter. I guess that's due to the incorrect references dangling these 4 virtual machines.

How can I remove the table-1 data store and/or each ESXi host iSCSI device so that I can reformat and Add again as a new data store? I already deleted the dynamic/static under the iSCSI SW map entries. He presents himself as 'dead', but it will not disappear because of the error "in use."

    Thanks for any advice.

    Tracked down the problem finally.

It was caused by a CD/DVD being mounted from the data store ISO on table-1 for these affected virtual machines. changing the setting to CD device Client rather than Datastore ISO for each referenced virtual fixed the problem computer, followed by a 'vmhba33 d esxcfg-rescan"since the ESXi console.

  • The context of the menu hard drive problems - cannot remove the point of garbage

When right click on a drive (icon in the Explorer...) upwards appears familiar context menu.  The mine this counts as an item listed in the menu: \REGISTRY\]USERS\S-1-5-21... (many more numbers and letters).

I tried all the obvious stuff, including transplant, without successful surgery - looking for the above string is futile. Manually check each Drive\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers.  Note that all other menus are very well.

How can I get rid of this, and more importantly, how did get there in the first place?

A second problem of context has also been raised: no Winrar command is listed. Notta.  Again, tried the obvious shots including UN and re - install Winrar.  A touch of Winrar is curiously the ContextMenuHandlers for folder, etc.  Why can't I see the usual orders of Winrar?

I look forward your answers :)

Without a subject "MISTLETOE" here, I've chosen 'Performance'... hope this is correct.

I found the answer: by using a context menu editor, I have disabled all non-microsoft components.  This fixes the problem with context menus HD (disk), but (as it turns out that) some file types have the same string of garbage in their menus!  While the rar, flv, txt

cfg files do not have this problem, exe, jpg, gif etc. are not! I applied the same method for the shortcuts in the menu "files" context and voila, it worked.

The offending program is of Stardock Iconpackager. HOW and WHY it has messed up my menus, I have no idea, but I would ask people to Stardock for a response.

  • Cannot remove dumpfile created volume vmfs - 5.5

I have a 5.5 with only local storage server I recently upgraded to 5.1.

A few days ago I had inventoried all my VM folders on the next partition:

Today, when cleaning latest virtual machines, I find the following:

    /vmfs/volumes/guest/vmkdump/44454C4C-4400-1048-805A-C7C04F4C4631.dumpfile

I don't know what created this... I understand there dumpfiles that can be created on PSODs, but I can't find any reference to a real folder called "vmkdump."

When I try to delete it, I get the following:

According to KB 10051, the number of updates in bold above is intended to indicate the MAC address of the owner of the lock.  Which makes absolutely no sense to me, that's the address, it belongs to the second internal NETWORK card in this system:

If the NIC information above seem to be a loophole... and the owner of the directory in question seems to be simply the volume itself (?)

I'm worried because not only I want to remove this file from my store of data (or at least understand the need for it), but because of the small cryptic information that I can see so far I don't think that sounds a coredump is / was being created.

To the best of my knowledge, this system has no other problems, it starts very well and apart from some other errors not apparent, miners, I saw in newspapers, I know not what could be the cause.

Advice is very welcome as to what is happening!

Yes NightWing... the coredump file is 5.5

Size of the system increases lead to larger ESXi unannounced dumps core. The partition of coredump for new installations of ESXi 5.5 is 2.5 GB. For upgrades from previous versions of ESXi 5.5, the core dump partition is limited to 100 MB for ESXi crashes. For many large systems, this limit is not enough space and dump logs are truncated. The limit has an impact on the ability of triage ESXi system issues and the core.

Updates with limits on partitions of 100 MB, during the boot process, the system might create a dump file. If it does not create a dump file, you can create it manually with the command of file coredump esxcli system.

The partition which added isn't the vmfs partition, but since the partition created during installation esxi coredump.

No, you can not have created /vmkdump if you do not have a coredump in vmfs.

If you think, that your esxi broke down somewhere, look at/var/core... If any coredump is, your Inbox may have thrown some time, otherwise you're good to go.

In addition, in the case of vmfs partition coredump configured, once you have deleted the file, a new file will be in place if and only if your box has panicked and dumped core.

  • Cannot remove the ghost folder. Error message: there is no such mailbox

When I configure Thunderbird to connect to my Alpine Webmail, I had to rearrange my folders. Cannot remove a folder titled "mail" because according to TB "there is no such mailbox" but still shows on the tab my folders. I read through the previous discussions and have tried to unsubscribe the ghost folder, but that did not work or the other. I have a Mac OSX if this affects what it is. Please let me know if you have any suggestions. Thank you.

Hello world. I solved the problem... somehow. By removing the account of Treasury Board and put in place again, TB has been able to sync with the files that were on Alpine. The ghost folder still presented (despite not existing not not on the Alpine site), but by changing the directory to the IMAP server of "mail" to "mailbox" the ghost folder disappeared. I found myself with records who have been named oddly (most likely due to the change of the name of directory) so when I changed the IMAP server directory to "mail" it reset my files with the way they were, with the exception of the ghost folder, that was no longer there. I'm not entirely sure why it worked, but in case someone else has a similar problem, I recommend to give it a try.

Thank you all for your comments and help.

  • Cannot remove iCloud backup of my old iphone

I upgraded from an iPhone 4 to a 6 s iPhone yesterday. Activation and downloading my settings and applications from the iCloud went perfectly. I am now trying to delete the backup of the iPhone 4 on the iCloud, so I can have enough space to save my iPhone 6 s. I get a message, "this backup cannot remove because it is in use". Any suggestions?

    Hi Poppabear5,

Congratulations on your new iPhone 6 s! I understand that you have a problem with deleting your iPhone upward iCloud. Let's see if we can understand what is happening.

The type of message you see, looks like your iPhone 6s is not made backup upward. The best way to confirm this is to see if it is possible to make a backup with your iPhone 6s and see if Yes see a message in the sense of "this iPhone is currently being restored and will back up automatically when it's done.". If this is the case, then you want to wait for the restore before you delete the backup. Another thing to think about is if you still have your iPhone 4, make sure it is not turned on and backup. It would be considered in service as well.

have you tried to go to your manage & Monitor tab and then access your vcenter and see if there are errors in saying vsphield id inaccessible. If there ar enone, you could try reconnecting to vcenter and also specify the credentials for vshield manager. And then you try to do the task.

  • Cannot remove data VMDK file store

    Hello

I tried to solve a problem where we can't delete the 2 files hard below (since a ls - la in ssh)

    -rw - 1 root root 262144 Jul 31 13:55 2010 - 10 a-000001 - delta.vmdk
    -rw - 1 root root 133711265792 Jul 31 13:55 2010-10A - s001.vmdk

I tried a rm without success:

The virtual machine is more listed in VCentre (I tried to delete data store manager), I believe that files can be locked for a reason, but I don't know enough to determine whether it is safe to kill the s pid which seem to use the folder:

[MS root@ESX1 server demo disk] # lsof | grep 'Disc of demo of MS Server'
disc of demo server lsof 1317 root cwd DIR 0,18 560/vmfs/volumes/4fb703b6-bb64840f-e817-02215eccbdbb/MS 21592
disc of demo server grep 1318 root cwd DIR 0,18 560/vmfs/volumes/4fb703b6-bb64840f-e817-02215eccbdbb/MS 21592
disc of demo server lsof 1319 root cwd DIR 0,18 560/vmfs/volumes/4fb703b6-bb64840f-e817-02215eccbdbb/MS 21592
bash 16678 disc of demo server root cwd DIR 0,18 560/vmfs/volumes/4fb703b6-bb64840f-e817-02215eccbdbb/MS 21592

No results appear if I lsof files themselves.

I can kill these processes? I have not the option to restart the server.

I've also seen mention of restart /sbin/servicesservices. SH , but I'm hesitant because I don't know what this will do - how does affect other virtual machines running?

I'm running ESX 4.0.0 208167 (according to VCentre) and I watched as a result of discussions among others:

    Any help is greatly appreciated

    [MS root@ESX1 server demo disk] # rm - rf 2010-10A - 000001 - delta.vmdk
    RM: cannot remove "2010-10A - 000001 - delta.vmdk': device or resource busy"

I've also seen mention of restart /sbin/servicesservices. SH , but I'm hesitant because I don't know what this will do - how does affect other virtual machines running?

You can restart the services... There will be no impact to the VMS running... also try to restart VMware vCenter services (services.msc)

If the above does not work, then restart the host seems to be the fastest and the most secure option.
