Partitioned my drive, appearing as 99.99 GB 100 GB not like its supposed to

I have partitioned my drive and 102400 disk space but in the windows Explorer appears as 99.99 Go why is this and how can I solve this problem

There is always a little space for the boot sector.
There are two types of boot sector - the Master Boot Record (MBR), which is located on your
Disk HARD Windows and a boot sector on another HARD drive that contains the relevant information from HARD drive
(tables of files, partition, etc.).

A few days ago, I discovered a "new" drive appears in my computer. He pointed to (e), but Windows can't read at all. If I click on it, a message saying "you must format the disk in E: drive until you can use it. You want to format? »

So, when I click on cancel, do not format, the message says "E:\ is not accessible. The volume does not contain a recognized file system... "etc.

If I right click on the drive properties and view, Windows reports the drive as having a capacity of 0 bytes.

I think that there is a partition that was previously hidden and has of recovering files or bios, put there by the manufacturer of the computer.

I would get hidden once again, because not only it is an annoyance, but his presence changed all designations of drive letter of my external devices (i.e., a flash used to be "G:" drive is now "H:" and etc. for other devices). It is a problem for programs looking for specific readers and shortcuts.

As a note, I have MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition, for the management of the partitions. But for some reason, the option to hide this particular drive is "grayed out" and not selectable. But at least the program is able to tell me that the drive is primary and that it has met its capacity of 15.69 MB.

Is there a way I can hide it again and restore my drive letter designations already?

    Hi Frank,.

    (b) has detected before HARD drive in my computer screen? If so, did you do changes on the computer before this problem?

    (c) that you get an unrecognized USB device notification error message?

  • Why two local drives appear on my PC if I have one?

Why two local drives appear on my PC if I have one?

It seems to be the partition of 100 MB of the system default, but she appears on 'My PC' or 'computer '...
I leave it there or what should I do?
Thanks to all for the replies! :)

The 100 MB System Partition is created by Windows 7 during installation and it is usually hidden in almost all cases. What might have happened in your computer, it is that, somehow, a drive letter has been assigned to that partition, and this is why it is displayed in the window of your computer. You can delete the associated with the System Partition drive letter on your computer to make this new hidden partition. You must not remove or make changes within this partition, it will leave your computer in the absence of priming.

To remove the drive letter of the System Partition:

    1. click on Start, type diskmgmt.msc in the search box and press ENTER to open the disk management window.
    2. right click on the partition system booked about 100 MB of size in question and then click change drive letters or paths.
Note: Be careful here, do not make any changes to the drive letter assigned to the other partitions in the computer, which would be a disaster.
    3. then in the pop box - next up, Select the drive letter assigned to the partition, and then click Remove.
    4. There will be a couple of guests you say that if you remove the drive letter, some programs that rely on drive letter may stop working, you can safely accept these guests. Once you are done by clicking OK in these pop-ups, close all open windows and restart the computer.

You shouldn't see that partition in the window of the computer now. It will be useful.

  • Can I partition a drive hard once Windows XP Professional is installed

I will get a new computer with XP installed on a 500 GB drive.  Is it possible to partition the drive in 100 and 400 GB so that I can move my data files on the second partition, and thus be able to restore the operating system if necessary without destroyin my data. I have a feeling that partitioning must be done before XP is installed, but I'm not sure.

    Thank you very much

If you drag from left to right or right depends on if you want the unallocated space (where ira your new partition) before or after the partition, you are working on.  As a general rule, it is best to have the system partition (usually C) to near the beginning of the training (i.e. the left end) as possible.  Thus, drag the right edge of the C partition to the left.

It's a bit difficult to describe without drawing but see if that helps-

Suppose you have a 500 GB drive with a 500 GB C partition.  It will look like this:

    CCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC

Now assume that the amount of "space used" is 80 GB.  The space that is used with "BOLD", your disc looks like this:

    CCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC

Now, you want to create a new partition of 400 GB.  Call the E (because D is your CD player - but the letters can be changed later).  You must resize C to leave space unallocated after him (right).  To do this, drag the right end of the C partition to the left:

    CCCCCCCCCCCCUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

Now use the unallocated space and make your new partition

    CCCCCCCCCCCCEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

  • Device driver appears

The device driver does not display the title of DVD/CD Rom in the PC section.  The CD drive is not recognized by windows.  We tried the fix listed on Microsoft to remove the upper and lower filters, and it did not fix the problem.  Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello

Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as is often total
a process that solves the problem.

Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue
    below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a coward
cable or slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then check the cables
both ends. Remove and replace, do not just tight. For laptops, you can often clean the
power and data of the contacts with a pencil eraser.

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the system manufacturer
and the manufacturer of the device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

    ===============================

Step 2: You have disc problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD &)
Burn DVDs and CDs and read DVDs). So it is not unusual for 1 or 2 operational parts while
    others do it properly.

Did you follow the Troubleshooting Guide for the reader who still does not work? There are
the entries in registry that the troubleshooter does not solve and those who "might" be the cause.

Check with your Maker system and a device for the two possible firmware updates and
the correct registry entries for your car.

Here are the keys that I of course are those in question - for the subkeys of the CD/DVD drive
as there will be other subkeys in these keys. Do not forget to ask specific keys involved as well as
    the parameters.

    Hello

I try to install Windows 7 Professional 64 - bit on a clean hard disk using the supplied DVD. I would use the formatting option GPT instead of MBR because of its capabilities on the MBR.

    * Original title: Windows 7 and D drive

I tried to create a partition on drive D, (don't use it on my computer) through disk management, complete the Wizard but did not have the letter D. I'm curious to know why this is happening.

It could belong to a shadow drive or Player cards on the machine. Simply use the next available letter...

I thought that this might be the case, but I wasn't sure. I have software from our parent company in Asia and must be run on drive D, great pain. they want it distributed in North America, but our clients would not want this restriction. I try to explain the powers that they need to return to square one on this.

    I appreciate your comments.

You can see the disk manager in Control Panel.  If there is a hidden D: drive, it will display here.  My guess is the drive letter is not assigned or assigned to the next letter somewhere down the line. If there is no D: drive you can assign the D: drive in there.   You can change the drive letters in there also.  give it a try.
