  • Many versions of VMware Workstation there is, I've been able to put a Virtual Machine for a date in the past and make it stay there.

    The instructions were pretty simple, add the following entries to VMX:

    rtc.startTime = "YourValue.

    tools.syncTime = "FALSE".

    Time.Synchronize.continue = "FALSE".

    Time.Synchronize.Restore = "FALSE".

    Time.Synchronize.Resume.Disk = "FALSE".

    Time.Synchronize.Resume.Memory = "FALSE".

    Time.Synchronize.Shrink = "FALSE".

    This no longer seems to work (unless it is me).  Is there a new procedure for VMware 12 and greater?

    I don't use this feature myself, but maybe that's all just because 'time.synchronize.tools.startup' is missing!

  • Reboot required question when trying to install VMWare workstation version 7.1.3

    My latest version of Vmware workstation is 7.0.0 build-203739, which I run on Windows 7 (64-bit) machine. I downloaded the latest version 7.1.3 (VMware-workstation-full - 7.1.3 - 324285.exe) and I am trying to upgrade the software I get the error message "Restart required".

    I restarted many times computer but the error message does not disappear.

    I also checked and cleared the following keys in the windows registry key, but it also did not help as the above message comes back.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Session Manager\PendingFileRenameOperations
    EntVersion entVersion\RunOnce

  • Can't build the kernel Linux in VMware Workstation 7.0 modules

    Hi, I have VMware Workstation 7.0 installed on a Fedora 20 x86_64 system, and I can't get past the 'install' kernel modules I looked around, but and I tried some things but none have worked. Is there anyone here who knows how to create and load the modules in the kernel for my system. The kernel is 3.13.8 - 200.fc20.x86_64 - x86_64.

    Thank you

    Fedora is not a host operating system support however is not officially supported and may / will this market are separate things.

    I have VMware Workstation 10 running under Fedora 20 on the stock kernel however the core of 3.13.x is not yet supported on supported OS host and modules need to be patched.

    VMware Workstation 7 is probably to old for work, unless you can find patches of third parties to the versions of core and WS.

    I have a mac under VMWare Fusion 3. It has a Windows virtual machine that is running QuickBooks to society. This Windows virtual machine can be moved easily on a Windows computer running the latest version of VMWare Workstation?

    Thank you!

    Yes, it can.

  • Fatal error VMWare Workstation: (vmx)

    Hello

    I created a VM to Oracle Red Hat Linux Enterprise (RHEL 5) and got this error message. This virtual machine is used as a database (Oracle, RedHat) server and connected to another virtual computer that is used as a device.

    error.png

    I'm using VMWare Workstation version 9.02 and installed in Windows 7 64 bit. In this virtual machine, I created a snapshot. The last State of the virtual machine is interrupted and all I take it back, this error is displayed. I can't change the settings and go back also to any cliché that created before.

    I tried to restart the VMWare services and also used an earlier version of VMWare Workstation version 9.01, but he always does'nt work.

    I have attached the log file. No idea how I can fix this problem?

    Thanks for any help

    You must take the State suspended - something serious has changed since suspend you the VM.
    Looking at the newspaper, I guess that you do not have the same mouse than the one that you used when the virtual machine is suspended.

    Delete these files:

    G:\RHEL 5 2.6 18-8 x86_64\Oracle RHEL 5 2.6. 18-8 x86_64 - Snapshot14.vmsn

    G:\RHEL 5 2.6 18-8-x86_64\564d16bd-1ae0-7f67-3423 - 5ff35c59b4e7.vmem

    Remove these lines from the vmx:

    checkpoint.vmState.readOnly = 'TRUE '.

    checkpoint.vmState = 'Oracle RHEL 5 2.6 18 - 8 x86_64 - Snapshot14.vmsn.

    Then try to start the virtual machine - this time, it should not crash.
    It can still display a warning on a disc that could have a repair, but this could be a bluff, and we can deal with that later.

  • 2.04 Ubuntu comments on VMware Workstation 9 under Win7 can't see ext4 USB drive

    Comments from 2.04 Ubuntu on VMware Workstation 9 under Win7: on computer A trivially, I connected to an out-of-the-box 64 GB USB drive formatted for VFAT on Ubuntu in a VM. I re-init'ed the player for ext4 (mkfs.ext4), mounted, drop a bunch of stuff on him (which took awhile), he dismounted and walked away. The next day, identically configured computer B, I inserted the USB key. Natch, Win7 may not go up because it does not ext4. But Ubuntu don't see either, so I can't be installed. Do not see under removable devices, no small icon bottom left of the screen of VMware, nothing in the settings menus or properties, etc. I think it's just me being a noob to VMware, but it seems that Ubuntu under VMware Workstation 9 cannot see the drive unless Win7 can go up. Seems unlikely. KB searching, Googling, etc. produce many unrelated things. Ideas? AdvTHANKSance.

    Here is the final answer: works great on an earlier version of VMware Workstation 9 on one of the Windows 7 of my client machines, it didn't work on my Windows 7 computer. I upgraded to VMware Workstation 10 on my Windows 7 computer, and now it works perfectly. If I call you this a bug in this version later 9 which was set at 10. Could also be had I simply uninstalled 9 and reinstalled which would have fixed it too. But I'll never know.

  • Failed installation of VMware Workstation 9 on new install of win 7

    I looked at the discussion of installation has failed VMware Workstation 9, verified that I am administrator, cleaned folder and looked at the registry and I'm still having problems.  The name of the account used is not Admin/Admin or anything close.

    This is a new installation today of windows 7 with all updates applied.  Avast is my anti-virus software.  The behavior does not change with it running or disabled.

    I think that the problem to be that KLM/Sofware/VMware Inc. does not appear.  I checked that I can create keys.

    "In my installs I've seen: message" failure of the MSI MSI "and once"the MSI MSI failed. "  Authorization of VMware (VMAuthService) failed to start service.

    Here are the logs from my last install.

    Can someone provide me with more information about the problem and how to get this installed?

    Thank you

    Finally got this resolved after many setup logs sent to VMware.  I came across the registry problems and VMAuthdServices fail to start due to software AV.

    In short, following http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1031302 (KB1031302) is important as well as some comments from howellrj.  Here's what I did in detail and why during my various tests of installation:

    http://KB.VMware.com/kb/1031302

    1 I used the only account on the system, which did not have a name as owner, admin, administrator, which has administrator privileges

    2 wiped % TEMP % whenever I made an attempt to install

    3 MS KB 942288 not recommended for Win7 so I jumped

    4 no earlier version of VMware Workstation has been installed on the system, so I jumped

    5 ran http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2438651/en-us (MS KB2438651) whenever I made an attempt to install.  He has never found anything wrong

    6 was not running WinXP so I jumped

    7 has made run msconfig to disable all services and should follow https://support3.avast.com/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=1334 (Avast KB1334) to disable Avast self protection mode.  Even with Avast protection auto mode disabled and all the disabled Avast shields were always running and prevent.  The only way to clear the checkpoint was to remove Avast completely.

    8 I ran sfc/scannow before each installation to be sure.  No problems have ever been found.

    So, here is what I did to get the software installed successfully:

    An item copied to my system

    1 AV Installer on my system

    2 use FixIt of MS KB 2438651

    Disconnected the network B

    C restart the system with network not connected

    D removed Avast

    E to restart the system with network not connected

    1 erase TEMP

    2 Ran FixIt utility of MS KB 2438651

    3 ran sfc/scannow

    F install VMware Workstation

    G restart the system

    H check VMware Workstation starts

    I install Avast

    J stop the system

    K connecting to the network

    L reboot the system with connected network

    M update Avast

    N reconfigure Avast

  • How to work the Optimus compared to VMware Workstation 8 with enable 3D

    Hi, I am doing some performance tests in VMware Workstation

    There are some improvements to run VMware using the Nvidia card or there is no improvement at all, and it's better to use default Intel card?

    I am running Windows 7 Ultimate host and as a guest Windows 7 Ultimate so I can compare with the windows experience.

    Host:

    screenshot.1.jpg

    Comments:

    screenshot.2.jpg

    Another thing I found interesting is why the performance of the hard disk are the same, but the memory is quite low in comparation with the speed of the host

    Is it normal? Can I improve the performance of the memory procesor or 3D in some way?

    As the comparation that I am very interested in the functioning of memory per second.

    There is always some trouble when virtual hardware running and it is not that you can do to improve except to avoid paging, the latest version of VMware Workstation and have the updated drivers.

    The Windows experience index is also a pretty poor excuse for reference so according to what are your objectives is better there tools like pass etc.

    What type of workload are underway in the virtual machine?

  • Win XP host gets restart everything install Windows 8 comments in VMWare Workstation 9.01

    Hello

    I have a machine that running Windows XP SP3 with 2 GB (DDRII) of RAM with Intel Core 2 E7400 2.80 GHz processor. I want to test Winodws 8 before you install on this machine. I have download and install VMWare Workstation 9.01. Then I rebooted my system and went into my BIOS and put the "No.-Execute memory Protection" 'Activate' and the system boots. Now when I try to install Windows 8 in the VMWare machine, which I set up for the OS, just like the VMWare logo screen with the F2 and F12 options my whole system restarts.  Someone at - he meets this type of problem?

    AnthonyL25

    I think that if the goal here it to test Windows 8 then I uninstall VMware Workstation 9 and try VirtualBox and see if this causes the same question.  Another thing you can do is give it a try on your host using Memtest86RAM, or similar, to make sure that's not a problem with bad RAM to a greater address then you normal would not not a VM running.   If RAM tests OK and works of VirtualBox, you can always try an earlier version of VMware Workstation, but I think not v7 supports Windows 8 as a guest.  I've used VirtualBox for Windows 8, and it worked very well!

    I can install Workstation 8 and 9 on the same PC (Windows XP SP3 home edition).

    I have a VM that work perfectly on Workstation 8 and I buy upgrade and update Workstation 8 to 9 of the workstation to create a new Virtual Machine with Windows 8.

    This new machine works fine, but the old machine did not start with the following message:

    "This virtual machine policies are too old to be run by this version of VMware Workstation. Contact your system administrator. »

    I use all of the solutions found on the community, but all have failed and is important for me to use this old virtual machine.

    Thank you.

    Hello

    You can install only one version of workstation on your computer.

    Have you tried to create a new virtual machine in the workstation 9 and configure it to use the old existing VMDK from the virtual machine to see if it boots?

  • Question of VMWare Workstation

    I recently bought the latest version of VMWare Workstation, it runs on Windows 7.  I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction.  I created two VM.  Both virtual machines have been built with the CentOS operating system.  I installed Oracle 10 g on VM #1 database server and installed the WebLogic Oracle 11 g on VM #2 application server.  Basically, I'm trying to figure out how to get the WebLogic application server (on VM #1) connected to the Oracle database server (on VM #2).  When I set up my database connection in WebLogic he asks the login information database (IP address, Port number, db name, db user, password, db etc.).

    Is the only way to do what I ask to give each VM is the own distinct IP address?    Do I have other options?  I did this on my home network that is behind a router, so I don't have that 1 IP address unique that is given to every computer on my network.

    Wes

    Welcome to the community - Yes, you must assign an IP address to each virtual machine - if you do not need to access the virtual machines from outside you workstation, you can do so with a single host network - see pages http://www.vmware.com/pdf/ws71_manual.pdf 290

  • VMWare Workstation, VM and Acronis TruImage question converter?

    Ask a question about the latest version of VMWare Workstation V.  7.1.3 along with the latest version of the VM converter. This version has it can import an Acronis TruImage 10 (.tib) file and change it to a virtual machine. I tried this Win7, WinVista and WinXP running without success.

    VMWare VCenter Converter Standalone v.  4.3.0 when used to try to convert a backup returns TruImage 10 "source parameters are invalid", but does not offer a method of changing the settings of the source.

    During an attempt to 'import' TruImage 10 files in VMWare Workstation v.7.1.3 the conversion wizard returns a "failed to load the VM source or image." The file may be corrupt, or a format not supported. »

    The image files are not corrupt and TruImage backup and restore work correctly with files tested image. Rooms chat VM mention some possible solutions, but they are long and not really practical long term since VM wants to work with these images.

    A someone that has tried these conversions and found a successful solution.

    Thank you

    That's right, that the converter does not support certain versions of Acronis.

    of http://www.vmware.com/support/converter/doc/conv_sa_43_rel_notes.html

    Acronis True Image Echo 9.1, 9.5 and Acronis True Image 10.0, 11.0 (product Home)

    With versions not supported (such as 2010 and 2011), you can follow the suggestion of continuum.
