Pavilio DV % 1201 and partitions

I have a dv5 with Vista and a hd with a capacity of 250 GB. During this hd, I have only 1 partition (c for data and programs.) The other partition (D is the recovery partition.)

I want to resize the C: partition and make a new one (E only for data.) How can do this? Can I use Partition Magic? and the recovery partition will be ok at the end of this work?

Thank you.

Hi rau63,

1. Yes you can do it with Partition Magic. Simply choose the Panel left side "resize a partition. Then click on next-> cick on patrition C-> choose the new size of partiotion etc.

So on that you must leave this partition C just a new format.

Aplly presents all the settings on the left towards the bottom of the Panel.

2 recovery partition will be ok after that.

In my opinion, you create restore DVD first. Then install the recovery image using these discs and when the OS is finished set partitions on your laptop.

After doing this, it can happen that you will not be able to use the disk HARD recovery option more but the DVD of recovery only if as a first step in the history please create these recovery disks.

  • Can I use the HP Recovery partition after formatting and partitioning the rest of the hard drive?

I recently had my HP Pavilion dv4 2145dx laptop (Windows 7 64-bit) go kerput.  The Geek Squad said that the motherboard is dead.  I bought a laptop and I use this one for now, and I use the former dv4 as external hard drive.

I intend to continue to use the hard drive from the old dv4 as an external unresolved for now, but I wish we could fix the dv4 at some point in the future.  Here's the problem: to get the most out of the former dv4 as external drive, I want to repartition it so that there is an NTFS partition and one HFS partition +.  This way I could easily use it with my Mac and Windows machines.

But if I do that, I'm not sure if the image of HP recovery would continue to operate.  If it does not, then if/when I get the old dv4 a new motherboard, I couldn't restore the operating system from the recovery partition.  It is a problem, because I have not create recovery disks (stupid, I know - I'm definitely making them for the new machine).

So, I want to do these two things:

    (1) create my dv4 recovery disks.  Can I do this if the dv4 drive is mounted in an external enclosure?

    (2) format and partition the drive dv4 (the leaving intact recovery partition) and later to recover the system from the recovery partition.  The recovery partition would continue to operate in these conditions?

Thanks for any help that anyone is obtained.

    Hello:

What you do to the C:\drive will make the ineffective recovery partition.

You will not be able to create a set of recovery discs unless the drive is usable in Notepad.

Can you still read all 25 characters of your product key of W7 on the bottom of your laptop broken?

If so, you can do this...

If you can read the Microsoft windows 7 25-character product key, you can download simple Windows 7 ISO files to burn on a DVD for the version of windows that is installed on your PC, and which is listed on the Microsoft COA sticker on your PC case.

Burn the ISO with the option to burn the ISO on your DVD burning program and burn it at the slowest possible speed that will allow your program. This will create a bootable DVD.

Or use the installation of Windows 7 USB/DVD tool to compile the ISO file that you download from Digital River. Link and instructions below. You need a 4 GB flash drive to use the USB compilation method.

    http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msstore/HTML/pbPage.Help_Win7_usbdvd_dwnTool

Use 25 characters on the PC product key to activate the installation.

The key will activate a 32 or 64 bit installation.

Then go to the support of the PC and driver page to install the drivers you need.

Link to downloads ISO of W7 is below.

    http://www.mydigitallife.info/official-Windows-7-SP1-ISO-from-Digital-River/

Or, you can probably still order a set of recovery disc for your HP laptop.

  • Clustering and partitioning

    Hello

Can you please tell what is the difference between the clusters and partitioning?

What is the average of hash partitioning? I know it's done by the hash value. How we will obtain the hash value?

Little confusion to self-study. It would be great if someone explains me.

    Thank you

    Hello

Clusters are two or more tables that are physically stored together to take advantage of the similar columns between tables. If two tables have identical column and you frequently need to join the two tables, for example, it is advantageous to store the common column values in the same data
block. The goal is to reduce the disk i/o and thus increase the speed of access when you join related tables.
However, the clusters will reduce the performance of your INSERT queries because several blocks are required to store data from several tables.

Oracle partitions addresses the key issue of supporting very large tables and indexes allow you to break it down into smaller, more manageable pieces called partitions.
Once the partitions are defined, SQL statements can access and manipulate the partitions rather than entire tables or indexes.
The partitions are especially useful in applications of data warehouse, that generally, store and analyze large amounts of historical data

Hash partitioning is a partitioning technique where a hash key is used to distribute the lines evenly between the different partitions (sub-tables). This is generally used where the beaches are not suitable, i.e. the employee number, productID, etc..

  • Upgrade 9i to 11g w / AQ and partitioning

    Hi all

We will make an upgrade for a client, 9.2.0.6 on Solaris 11 GR 2 on AIX 6.1. I read that the documentation for upgrade and the best (only?) way would be to an exp/IMP. There are only about 30-40 GB of data, so the downtime should not be too suddenly.

My main concern is that the database uses AQ and partitioning. For export/import of partitioning should be able to carry it through, but for the QA part, should there be something else I should do in advance, or as long as I export/import objects QA owner then it should be ok?

    Edit:
In addition, when you apply the patches, the order would be:
    -Install 11 GR 2
    -Create the database
    -Apply the power supply
    -Apply the CPU
    -Import data?

    Any help would be appreciated.

I am agree with Dan - using dbua would be cleaner and simpler. You must first upgrade to 9.2.0.8 (which is also not too hard) before attempting to upgrade to 11 GR 2. See - http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e10819/preup.htm#i1007814

PL do not forget that you must apply processors or the power supply - you cannot apply both. See Section 8 of the MOS Doc 854428.1 (Patch updates Set to day for Oracle products)

  • Impossible to install Bootcamp and partition problem

Hello guys, I really need your help. I can't install Windows more Bootcamp partition.

So I read a lot of articles on the problem of the partition but it seems that I can not solve the problem at all and I think my problem is very critical. Here's how things all turned out badly:

-J' tried to update to OS X version 10.11.5 from the Mac App Store.

-After restart my Macbook, I got the message error "OS X could not be installed on your computer...". ».

-J' tried to find a solution and I found this:https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203482

-J' did what the site Web told me, that I used the disk utility to resize the partition to the Mac (at the time I had Windows 10 Bootcamp on my Mac). So the thing has helped, I was able to update OS X 10.11.5. After that, I had resized the partition of the Mac to its normal size. (I was very careful not to touch anything else like Bootcamp)

' - The day after I restarted my Mac to use Windows, but since the splash screen, I saw only 'Macintosh HD', I booted in OS X and is passed as a parameter to indicate my boot under BOOTCAMP drive, after restarting black screen said: "no boot device... »

-I went on the web and find all the solutions and I formatted the BOOTCAMP partition and deleted all his data, now my Bootcamp Assistant said: "the startup disk cannot be partitioned or restored to a single partition.". I tried to install Windows 7 on USB, I chose Bootcamp (score 4), but now I have this: "Windows cannot be installed to this disk. the selected disk is a MBR partition table. On EFI systems, windows can be installed on disks GPT THAT MBR cannot support... »

Now I can't find any way to install back my Windows on the partition, I read on the internet that OS X sees that the GPT partition Windows considers MRB. Here are a few photos can help:

My Macbook HDD has 3 parts: Macintosh HD (use for OS X), Bootcamp (used for the installation of Windows) and DATA (use to store large data)

    Hi Jason Dang,.

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support. What a great way to try to get this problem resolved on your own! The best resolution would be to format the drive outside the Bootcamp utility. Your drive must be formatted using the recovery partition. Once you format the drive, you will be able to use the wizard Boot Camp re partition and re install Windows. Please try the link below and select "erase a disc and reinstall OS X.

This recovery partition belongs to the operating system itself and has nothing to do with the Toshiba recovery partition. If the recovery partition is deleted you can not get it back.
Only thing to do is to reinstall the recovery image and use laptop with 'presets' again.

In my opinion, only option for you now is to order the original installation of the recovery media - https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx

  • Questions about the discs of recovery and partitioning Satellite A200-QH0

I bought a model of Satellite A200-QH0 in Australia and due to the lack of forums in our country, I would like to ask a few questions here if that's ok.

The book contains 3 partitions - partition "EISA Configuration" of 1.6 GB, the great partition of the BONE and the recovery partition. So I did the recovery DVD? s using the Recovery Disc Creator tool, as we are not provided with a real disk. But I would like to know what will make these records? My questions:

    1. they really will return that disc hard back to the _exactly_ how he was including the partition layout and software pre-installed?
2 will be the recovery DVD works even if the disk has been repartioned? I would like to divide the system partition to give space for the files of data etc. But this extra partition will stop the recovery procedure works correctly?

Please understand that I'm not interested in reformatting the entire disk. I want to just split the partition from the OS. But in case I need to replace the disk in the future or something, I would like to know how to close to 'original', these disks will make me, no matter what I do on the disc?

    Thank you
    Dave

    Hello

I m not 100% sure how recovery works on the Australian laptops computers Toshiba, but I presume that the restore CD contains the image of Toshiba with the operating system Windows, drivers, tools and utilities.
I think that if you want to use the recovery CD then the whole HARD drive will be formatted and all partitions will be erased.

I think that the recovery partition is not created using the recovery CD because the CD of restoration has already been created for the recovery partition is no longer necessary

  • Tecra S3 M780 and Partition Magic is not possible?

    Hi all..

I hope someone can help my here.
Already tried looking but have not found an answer.

OK, I have a hard drive (100 GB) and I would do the above partition to store my data on a different partition as my operating system.

Problem is that Partition Magic does not work.
I get an error that there is a partition on my hard drive that has no drive letter.
I checked it and it's OK.

    Hard disk are:

    Allmost whole, primary drive C:
No drive letter: 16 primary MB
    No drive letter: 8 MB

I think the primary 16 MB is the problem.
Can someone tell me the reason or purpose for this partition?
It has something to do with the recovery?
Is it possible to delete each partition on the hard drive, make new partitions (C, D and E), then the recovery cd to install Windows on the C?
Or the recovery cd will automatically change the partition of the hard drive by default?

I tried to do an Image of C: with Gost or Powerquest, but it no longer works.
My intention was to create partitions and then put the image correctly.

    Cordially René

    Hello

The first question is difficult to answer. I don't know what this score is for. I don't think anyone for something special.

If you want to divide the HARD drive into separate partitions and can accept to retrieve the device, then the recovery CD can help you.
Just start on it as usual, but choose rather the Advanced recovery if Standard.
This will give you the ability to manually set the size to be assigned to the C partition (where the OS will be installed).
Once completed the installation, simply go into diskmanager, add a new partition and format it.
    TADA! You are home.

  • Question on erasing the HARD drive and partitions

Hi my name is Fanta and I want to sell my laptop to someone, but I want to avoid impersonation so.
I'll use an erasure software that will wipe away my whole HARD drive until there is no data.
This is why I would like to know if there is a recovery on my HARD drive partition ready, and if there is a partition to the HARD drive recovery.

Wipe tool will wipe the partition on the HARD disk. If he wipe the partition will take the recovery partition and if I need the recovery partition and I don't what will happen?

    Hello

Generally, you won't find any recovery on the HARD drive partition. The Toshiba Recovery CD should always be supplied with the device. It must be only installed the operating system with the Toshiba drivers and utilities.
However, if the Erase tool will also clear your partition then all files and data will be deleted.

The HARD drive will be formatted again during the installation of the OS. If you want to use partitions on the HARD disk, you can create it in addition with Magic8 Partitions. I use this app and it of very great.

  • Equium M70: Size of what OS on HARD drive and partition of creation

    Hi all
I reinstalled my os using the provided recovery CD. The new hard drive I'm helping him right now is a WD 120 GB sata drive.

My question is, what is the normal size of installation on the hard disk for the operating system? Is it possible that 6.98 GB as shown in the C drive properties? Also how can I perform a full reformat on drive C and that in order to partition the hard drive into 2 separate drive?

    Thanks for any help!
    Károly

The Toshiba Recovery CD contains not only the operating system, but also different applications, driver and utilities. The whole software needs space on the HARD drive and 7 GB is nothing unusual.

If you want to create multiple partitions on your HARD disk, you do not need to format all of the C drive but you could use a 3rd party software like Partition Magic 8 to create partitions
This tool is awesome, you can control and manage the partitions very easy.

  • I have a few questions about the internet and partition recovery

I deleted completely OS X Yosemite and only left Windows. Now that I'm pretty sick of Windows and want to use my Macbook Air for real, I am using recovery of the internet (order and R) to reinstall OS X.

I backed up all my data and that you haven't stored anything in my Macbook. My questions are: (I know they are long, but they are quick to respond)

    1. I want to erase everthing on my Mac. I have now 3 partitions. After starting and pressing command + R, I would use disk utility to erase everything, like this .

After you click Delete, would be merged my 3 partitions in 1 and I could repartition my Mac?

    2. I want to create a partition for OS X Yosemite (and possibly upgrade to El Capitan). What is the minimum recommended size for partition OS X Yosemite? (Because my SSD is only 128 GB)

    3. Let's say I create 3 partitions, let's name A for OS X, B for my data and C for reinstalling Windows. If I boot into Windows, I'd be able to use (read and modify) data on B, or just OS X could do that?

4 the amount of data I should download during the recuperation of the Internet? I guess that much since I'm downloading the OS X package, but my internet is quite slow, so I want to know how of SGB I have to download.

5 If I asks me to enter the Apple ID to download OS X, would any book Apple ID?

Thanks for reading. I would be extremely grateful if you answer my questions. See you soon
