• Laptop screen turns off but the system never sleeps when closed.

  Hello!

  I have a laptop Alienware M14x and quite frequently when I close my laptop, the screen turns off but the system will not. When I reopen it, the screen stays off and the system seems still to go but no matter what I press on, the screen does not turn. To fix it, I just turn it off power then back on the power button. I know that my laptop is still running because the fans are still running and the lights on the front and on the keyboard are lit. I don't know if this is a problem common or not, but it's really annoying.

  Any help would be greatly appreciated! If there are other details that might help, do not hesitate to ask!

  Firstly I find a windows command can tell you if you have something that prevents the mode 'sleep'. Run as administrator command window and use the command: powercfg-query.

  If you have my problem and SRVNET is active, you will see this:

  SYSTEM:
  [DRIVER] \FileSystem\srvnet
  An active remote client recently sent requests for this machine.

  2. to add SRVNET to the exempt list, do the following at the command prompt (EXACTLY as shown below.)  DRIVER MUST be written in capital letters):

  powercfg - requestsoverride DRIVER '\FileSystem\srvnet' system Awaymode

  and for good measure (not sure if necessary but I did anyway)...
  
  powercfg - requestsoverride DRIVER "srvnet' system Awaymode

  3. once all is said and done, it should look like this after you run:

  powercfg - requestsoverride

  [DRIVER]
  \FileSystem\srvnet SYSTEM AWAYMODE

  4 enjoy again the "sleep mode".

  I have a HP 2311 x monitor and a PC HP Pavilion p7-1174 system unit and can't get an audio (on the Internet) when you use a headset (don't have no external speakers still).  I am getting system sounds - as when a device is connected or removed, or when I do the volume settings, but nothing else.

  I updated the driver IDT High Def Audio CODEC (it was already up to date, however).  There is no control external volume on the monitor, but I can make adjustments of volume via the control panel.

  All tests on well - but not of sound from the Internet - only system sounds.

  All the tips are greatly appreciated.

  My mom bought my laptop in the last Kuwait September 2013 and she brought here in the Philippines in October. last night, while I tried to install an update of my bluetooth driver, I met an error which caused my laptop restart and restart continuously. When I tried to search for drivers for my hardware compatible with windows 7, I could not found. I mean, I've found a few, but they do not installed correctly. So I have 2 questions...

  1: are there drivers available in windows 7 that are compatible with the specifications of my laptop (HP Pavilion 15-e054se)? and;

  2: If there is no available drivers, what are my options if I want to return back to windows 8 if I accidentally deleted my system restore partition? I did a system recovery still disk so I don't know where to find a...

  2. you can no longer make a W8 recovery disk, because you deleted the recovery partition.

  Had a virus - malware.  load malwarebytes and cleared.  I was able to reboot and log in.  I had too many running - Kaspersky, Mcafee and Windows virus protection systems.  Kaspersky has expired, then started the uninstall, frozen system.  I had to do a hard reboot.  I am now in a situation where when I start the laptop, the system receives the background color shows the date and time, but ask not my user name and password.  I can't connect to the laptop at all.

  I don't have a set of boot disks to this system.  I bought with windows 7, improved a couple of years of Windows 8 and never got to create a bootable cd.  What are my options?  I don't know if it's the windows registry which is damaged or not.

  As you started to uninstall Kaspersky, the system should created a restore point, if you can try to restore it as follows.

  Stop of the laptop and leave it like that for 10 seconds.

  Tap here to f11 as soon as you press the power button until you see a message "Windows is loading.

  On the next screen, select your Keyboard Layout and on the next screen, select Troubleshooting.

  Select 'Advanced Options', and then select System Restore.

  Click on yourcurrent system O and then wait as the system restore window opens.

  Choose the restore point created before you uninstall Kaspersky and then proceed to the system restore.
