    Hey Midsyork,

Looks like you run Digital Persona SimplePass flavor.

Two things to try, in order:

    • Hard reset
    • Remove and reinstall the validity sensor driver

    Hard Reset:

Sometimes, all you need to do is the computer suddenly.  This method works for a variety of connection and "glued" program issues.

    • Disconnect all the external devices first.
    • Remove the AC power and battery
    • Press and hold the power button while in the minus 30 seconds
    • Reinstall the power supply for the first start only * see Note
    • Power on - connect
    • Next time you shut down the system, replace the battery.

    * Note: You can ignore the little battery aside.  If you wish, replace the battery the first time and do it with her.

    Check the software...

If it still does not work, go ahead.

    • Control Panel > Device Manager > biometric devices > Validity Sensor > uninstall > delete
    • Reboot ...

    Validity Sensor V2.1.0.2

    • Install the validitysensorDriverinstallationpackage: it if called sp*.exe - the package will be most likely located in the downloads folder.  If you have control of "Admin", you can highlight the package and "double-click on ' to install it, otherwise just right-click, select"Run as Administrator"and install.

This can kick things hard enough to restore the Digital Persona software.  You can hit him harder, but first...

    ======================================================================================

    What about the rest...

You could consider running a full system scan.  I'm a demon for this.  I like a healthy file system.  It cannot solve the problem, but it will ensure that the issue is not a messed up system files, which CAN cause all sorts of unpleasant and troubled issues.  You do not really have to 'look' like a mother hen during analysis, look at the logs or 'DO' something.  He's going to take care of yourself and try to fix what it can.  The only time where that must involve it is things do not go well...  Is there a doc to help at the end to tell you what does this thing.  It is not harmful and, unless your system is broken, and it's going to die anyway, it will only make things better than they are now.

    scannow SFC

Analyze and fix the system.  The sfc/scannow command. who will do - it will scan the operating system, looking for corrupted files and inconsistencies; He will replace or repair everything he can.  If it finds corrupted programs or libraries, it will try to correct them.

    • Start menu > all programs > Accessories > right click on guest > select ' run as administrator'
    • In the command prompt window, type (or copy / paste) sfc/scannow , and then press enter.

(Note the space between sfc and the ' / '.)

The sfc scan will report its findings and you can look at the results:

    • Open an command prompt (it doesn't have to be as an administrator):
    • Use the command copy to create a copy of file readable by the output:

    %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log copy %userprofile%\desktop\cbs.txt

If "scannow" does not properly complete, try running:

    SFC /verifyonly

Copy the results to a text file, extract the output file in Notepad and look for errors that could not fix the full scan.

Help file for the System FIsland Checker command:

The Windows Vista or Windows 7 System File Checker tool

  • HP Pavilion dv6 QJ916AAR: fingerprint reader problems

    Hello

This is my first post so I apologize if it appears in the wrong place. I'll have a problem with the fingerprint reader and HP simple pass identity protection software that came with my Dv6-QJ916AAR. For some reason any all of a sudden since this morning it will not work. There is no light on the sensor, and it fails every time and movement. When I run the single pass software and go to the fingerprint section, it shows the fingerprint reader is not connected. Interestingly, when I go to Device Manager I see no biometric devices listed under there. I read on another thread that some options below biometic devices in Device Manager solves the problem.

I already tried pass Simple uninstall/reinstall the Recovery Manager and also uninstalled and updated validity sensor but still no go.  Here are some other details:

    Laptop model: Dv6-QJ916AAR

Operating system: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit

I can't find any other information on how to solve it. Can anyone help?

    Thank you!

  • Pavilion DV6-6119wm fingerprint reader problems

For about 2 years, my fingerprint reader did not. I'm looking to sell the laptop and worth almost double with the work fingerprint reader. I updated the BIOS, digital and HP SimplePass fingerprint reader driver. The drive appears in the biometric devices under Device Manager and says it's working properly. When I go to the control panel > biometric devices, it shows as unavailable validity sensor. Seriously, the only thing that I did not until now to get this thing working properly is completely replace the Board of fingerprinting, which I doubt is necessary because it appears in Device Manager. Does anyone have a solution to this problem? The sooner, the better! Thank you!

    Hello @tylernelson224,

I read your post on how you're looking to restore functions to scan fingerprint on your laptop, and I'd be happy to help you in this case!

In order to get your fingerprint in functional order reader, I recommended that you perform a backup and restore of your operating system. This can be done by following this document on the backup of files (Windows 7), and more to perform a recovery of the system HP (Windows 7). This should help get your system back to factory settings. If the problem persists, the fingerprint reader may be damaged.

    I hope this helps!

  • Pavilion dv6 3325dx fingerprint reader

I changed the system OP of Win7 Home Premium to Win7 Ultimate 64 on my laptop.

I checked the troubleshooting system and it seems that everything is fine.

    Thank you very much

Try to install the HP SimplePass sotftware.

I'm unable to locate the OSD package that includes the screen volume on among the drivers available on the web portal of support.

  • Pavilion dv6500z: fingerprint reader not activated / work

    Hello:

I have a HP Pavilion dv6500z (32 - bit laptop) running Windows Vista Home Premium.

I have a handset problem and don't know if they are linked, or separate.

    (1) I'm missing an icon on the initial screen you are presented with when Windows comes first to the top, where you choose which account to connect to, before any screen of Login/PW. (see other comments below).

This departure occurring at each "seed" (cold or hot) after running my laptop in safe mode, to analyze a different problem.

    (2) my fingeprint scanner does not... I get more no pop-up window if I accidentally slip a finger in the eye of the scanner.

Normally, when I start my computer, I get to choose two icons: one with my name/icon.

My account is a SysAdmin account, not a normal account.  I know what is its icon.

I don't remember what the other one was... I don't think it was a guest since icons (images) choose account

Since when creating a guest account will seem familiar, what was on the screen as the 2nd icon.

I don't remember what is was, but think it was logging in using the fingerprint reader.

    Any ideas?

    Thanx

    DaleBr

This problem seems to be resolved.

    Here's what I did.

At first, I just had an icon of my connection to the administrator account.

After recording, I created a guest account.

Once rebooted (hot and cold), my initial login screen had to choose 3 items:

    1) administrator account

    2) guest account

    3) finger slide to unlock a session ... it's the icon that was previously missing for the fingerprint reader.

I went and turned off the guest account.

I have closure for a few minutes and made a cold start.

Icons for both the administrator account and the finger swipe to open a session showed the choice.

This is how it should have been... How it was before the start in safe mode.

  • Fingerprint reader - Windows 8 - HP Pavilion DV7 connects not

Have searched high and low for a solution to my problem to scan fingerprint - tried instructions on many site without solution.

    Please help-

    I have a HP DV7-6c27cl (Pavilion) - purchased 11/2012.

Updated from 8 to 64-bit Windows to purchase and fingerprint scanner quit job with TrueVision HD webcam.  HP driver update for webcam works perfectly - running.

Software HP SimplePass is responsible for the current 5.20.233a (DigitalPersona) version.

East went to HP and downloaded the new driver (SP58834) for the fingerprint reader.  We sought their updates using the specific model of this laptop and he gave me this driver up-to-date with.  Software starts but no joy on the drive...

Simple pass still said "the fingerprint reader is not connected.  "Connect to the reader."

Earlier today when trying a number of different patches I had a tap of biometrics in my device manager and another in the Panel... on one of my attempts to find a solution, I deleted these.  Is gone now.

Don't know what to do from here.  It doesn't seem to be any solution on the Web Digital Persona site either.

    Please help and thank you.

  • Coprocessor Pavilion dv9700 w / win 7

I have a HP Pavilion dv9700, who has 32-bit windows 7 is installed. When buying this laptop came pre-installed with 32-bit windows Vista.I installed windows 7 more early this year.

Everything was working fine until last week when I noticed that the laptop was not preforming as it was too much and that it would be closed periodically. When I took a peek in the Device Manager, I noticed that the coprocessor has the yellow triangle.

I went and searched many forums, that would lead me to a update/download NVIDIA any or a HP sp reinstall. All the these are however, for Windows Vista because it is what my laptop came installed with. So when I search my lapop model, all patches are for vista and are not compatible.

Can someone tell me please in the right direction to solve this problem for Windows 7? Your help is greatly appreciated!

  • Pavilion dv6: fingerprint reader not working after update to Windows 10

    Hello

Recently, after the update to Windows 10 fingerprint reader works just on my Pavilion dv6. I tried other methods I found on the forum, and I'm looking for a driver get the fingerprinter reader to work. I tried to download HP SimplePass (which has been removed from my PC by updating the operating system) in the hope he would get my fingerprint reader to work, but no luck.  I also looked in the settings (in Device Manager) for biomeric devices, and I found a driver with an exclamation point, indicating it wouldn't work. So, right now, I need a solution to get my to work on a fingerprint reader.

    Thank you
