Pavilion HPE-180 t: Compatible replacement hard drive
My Pavilion Elite HPE-180 t (p/n: BN515AV #ABA) began to crash randomly. Software support tells me the HD is a failure. Error code: BIOHD-2
The HD which came installed is a HITACHI HDS721010C. Operating system is Windows 7 (64-bit)
I did not rush the hardware changes to the computer with the exception of a system recovery to factory specifications.
Shifter2k4, welcome to the forum.
The main thing is to buy a hard drive that is the same size or larger than the failed drive. This ensures that the recovery of the system will work. I like the Western Digital drives. If you want to speed up your computer, you could buy an SSD. If you go this way, you will need at least 160 GB. I love the Samsung SSD drives.

HP Pavilion dv6-6060ep: question to replace HARD drive
Hello.
I would like to know if replacing the current 500 Gb Hdd with a SSD would cancel or in any way affect my warranty coverage. The laptop is a year old. Thanks in advance for any assistance of withy this question.
Hello:
There should be no problem with the warranty as long as you don't break something trying to install the HARD drive.
HP will not support the SSD however and your recovery disks don't work because the new drive must be the same size the 500 GB HARD drive you removed.
I have a workaround for the problem of recovery disk...
According to the specifications of your PC system, it came with W7 Home Premium 64-bit.
It must be in English, French or Spanish version too.
If so, download the ISO W7 Home Premium 64 bit on the link below.
Burn the file on a disk using a program that can burn ISO files so the DVD is bootable DVD burning.
Burn at the lowest speed as possible.
Then use the product key 25 character on the bottom of your laptop computer to activate the installation.
Support of your laptop and driver page visit to install all the drivers you need.

Replacing hard drive HP Pavilion g4-1015dx
I recently acquired a HP Pavilion 1015dx g4 with a failing hard drive.
I was wondering if this computer supports SATA III drives specifically theWestern Digital laptop bare drives 500 GB WD Blue SATA III 5400 RPM 8 MB Cache Bulk/OEM hard drive WD5000LPVX
Thank you! Here is the Service Manual:
See page 51 for hard drive access. Note the connector that connects the bare hard drive to the motherboard. You will need to reuse the parts caddy/connector/mylar shield from the old drive.
Your laptop SATA ports are SATA II. In most cases, if it doesn't have USB 3.0, it also doesn't have SATA III. Your don't have any USB 3.0. However, SATA-III hard disks 2.5 inches wide and 7 or 9.5 mm thick will work fine. SATA III interface is backward compatible with SATA-II. I guess that you have chosen the WD Blue 5400 RPM drive due to their low cost, but it would be well worth an extra 10 or $15 to have a disk of 7200 RPM like the WD Black or this one:

Replacing hard drive on HP Pavilion dv6700, must be 2.5 "?
I have a Pavilion DV6700 HP laptop. The hard drive is running out. I need to know if I SHOULD replace the "320GB SATA hard drive - 5 400 rpm, 2.5 in. form factor, 9.5 mm thick" with another disk of 2.5 inches?
Out of all these details with the player (RPM, 9.5 mm thick form factor of 2.5 in) those who MUST be included in the replacement drive? Can I install a 3.5 inch drive?
Thank you
Hello
To answer your questions in order.
1. the speed can vary - that is to say, you could install a 7200 RPM 320 GB hard drive.
2. in view of the size of your drive Bay, you will need a drive of 9.5 mm.
3. the Player must be 2.5 "-a disk 3,5 '' HARD is for a desktop PC.

HP Pavilion 17: mouse pad does not work after replacing hard drive
Hello
After replacing hard drive and installing windows 8.1, I can't use my mouse pad.
I installed the Synaptics driver but it didn't help.
How can I check that mousepad device is not damaged when replacing the hard drive and which also can I try to fix the mouse pad?
USB mouse works fine.
See you soon
The only way to be sure is to open it up and see if the touchpad cable was disconnected during the upgrade of the hard drive. That's my bet. Easy to forget when you're winding. You don't provide complete model number, but many of the recent models Pavilion 17 require removal of the cover together to get hard disk that requires disconnection of the touchpad cable.

I added the third hard drive to my Pavilion HPE 180 t on 3 SATA 5.25 Bay but win7 sees it as a DVD. How can I do recognize this feature added as a third hard drive? I have two HD in the bays of HD SATA 1 and 2 for RAID 0.
Thanks for anyone who can help.
Hello
What is the make and model of drive you added? You you directly connected the hard drive the sata motherboard 3 or 4 port? 4 indicates it the title, but the post 3. HP cables usually the DVD/CD drive and the motherboard 3 sata port.
Boot in the bios (F10 at startup). The bios sees the new hard drive? If not, then the drive is DOA or there is a power problem.
If the bios recognizes the new hard like a hard drive, then try the suggestion below.
Go to--> disk management computer management and expand the screen entirely. How many hard drives you see? Post a picture of this screen.
If the new drive has never been initialized, then you'll need to format/initialize it by right mouse clicking on the new drive and then format/initialize and assign a drive letter.

Satellite 1410 714 extremely slow after replacing HARD drive
Hello
I have a Satellite 1410-714 which has had a hard drive failure. I replaced the drive, but now the computer is extremely slow. Windows has been reinstalled, it was really slow too much and now it takes minutes for windows to start.
I suspect that something might have broken on the motherboard and the hard disk. I checked mobo replacement parts, but have not found anything for-714, so a 1410 mobo compatible? This model has a processor celeron 1.8.
Thanks for help.

Hello
I can t think the motherboard is broken after replacing HARD drive.
I suggest updating the BIOS first. Maybe your old BIOS have a few problems with the most recent HARD drive.

I saw the other posts on this but no definitive answer.
My HARD drive is dying and needs to be replaced. I see the posotion from the LHS is under the Palm drive and there seems to be one removable flap - other posts say there is only one screw to remove, but there is no visible screws under the machine.I've changed hard disks on other Toshibas with absolutetly no problem - someone at - it ideas?
Hello
Replace HARD drive on this laptop is not simply the procedure. I'm not 100% sure, but the entire Palm rest/Touchpad should be removed first. HARD drive cover is fixed with a screw, but you'll see him only if the Palm is deleted.
When this screw is removed, hold the HARD drive tab and pull the HARD drive bracket. Next step is to detach the HARD drive from the HARD drive support.
The device is quite new and first of all, check if the warranty is still valid. -

It is not so easy to change the HARD drive on this model.
You have to remove many parts like keyboard, screen, cover and screw a lot.
It's a little tricky, so you should have experience with this.As Akuma, go to a local ASP (authorized service provider) has said. They can help you replace the HARD drive.

Satellite L300D-10 q recovery DVD Can be used on the replacement hard drive?
Hello
I was wondering if the DVD Recovery allows to install Vista on a replacement hard drive? The original hard drive is too small at 160 GB contain all the files that I use the virtual operating system image. The disk hard 500 GB of replacement must be large enough for that.
The reason why I need to Vista, it's that the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Ubuntu 8.04.1 and 8.10, cause the fan to run at full speed all the time which is very annoying. So for the moment I can only use Linux in a virtual machine.
I intend to stay with Toshiba, though, as my two latest portable Toshiba Satellite a PII and a PIII still work today, and both have had Linux on them.
Now, back to my story, I intend to remove the existing laptop, hard drive use DVD recovery to install to external USB 500 GB disk, replace the existing hard drive in starting up the laptop from the USB and copy my data overall. Before you reformat the old drive as external storage, I will replace in the laptop with 500 GB drive and the test so I can boot from the new drive.
Key question will be the change of equipment, i.e. the new hard disk of 500 GB prevent Vista to install or activate?
Thank you very much
Vista itself can handle huge HARD drive sizes, but the question is: the recovery disc will be happy with 500 GB? The laptop will recognize 500 GB?
I think it will work very well, because the new laptops are released with 320 HARD drive. 500 GB is not far.
Its a few trial and error unless anyone here has tested a disc 500 GB HARD themselves.

El Capitan compatible external hard drive?
I have a Macbook Air with OS Elcapitan 10.11.3. I want a recommendation compatible external hard drive. I heard that some external dives have"problems" with El Capitan.
I am a tech and have a large selection of discs between my personal and professional materials. Each external drive, I have worked with El Cap. In general however I avoid external drives Western Digital WD uses owners chipsets that are sometimes not completely compatible with Apple technology. I have a couple Seagate, Toshiba and IOmega readers of 'ready made '. As I said, they all work with El Cap.
I prefer to create my own OWC external systems or IcyDock enclosure. I tend to buy bare drives HGST, Toshiba and Western Digital these days. My speakers are for backups and a multimedia disc of high quality is very important. I tend to buy Server nu class disks. I prefer to make my own because it gives me total control over quality enclosure recognized with a standard chipset in the industry and also a known internal drive. When I didn't buy an external 'ready made' I have no idea what is inside or who did the speaker. At this moment I have USB 2 and FireWire speakers that are 5-8 years and still going strong (even if I swapped drives several times over the years). I don't think that I have a single 'ready made' disc, which is close to that age.

HP ENVY 14 2020NR: need a recommendation for a replacement hard drive
Greetings,
I have an a HP ENVY 14 2020NR with a hard drive died. Blue several screens before the new year, did a complete system restore, which seemed to have fixed things. I have all the data backed up elsewhere and ready DVD restore disc.
Here are the specs of the drive:

Satellite Pro 2100: How do I reinstall the OS after replacing HARD drive
I have a Toshiba SP2100 and I want to replace the hard drive, but I don't have any recovery CD
So, how can I put the o/s back on?Try to connect the external HARD drive to the computer via the USB port and try to copy all content from the internal HARD disk external HARD drive. Then you could try to insert the external HARD drive in the laptop.
But I've never tried this procedure and don t know if it will work. But usually after replacing HARD drive you should boot from the Boot CD as recovery CD or the original CD of Microsoft Windows.
After the installation of clean Windows OS, you can visit the Toshiba drivers and you can download and install the drivers of Toshiba and utilities.
