  • Pavilion a6400f: upgrade or replace?

Should I worry about upgrading my Pavilion a6400f (it's specs are always also is from the factory)?  I want to use Windows 8 and Internet Explorer 10 without problem.  I can afford a new PC, but I probably would buy refurbished for about $230.  I would like to get a newer version of Microsoft Office.  I have need graphics top of range (I play all the games).   Thank you.

    An upgrade would be better.

I suggest you wait a little time, like a month because Windows 10 will be published soon.

It is much better than windows 8 and windows 7 + 8 is more like handsets.

So, you will get the best of both worlds

  • Pavilion dm1z-4200: Pavilion dm1z-4200 multiple problems

My laptop, model mentioned above, is about 4 years old and the display of several annoying habits or problems of age at least.

First, he takes a loonngg to exit the mode time "sleep" despite the repeated keyboard taps, clicks of mouse and touchpad taps and clicks. Often, it seems as if it won't always come back.

Often, when you enter a string to search for letters in the search box, typing significantly lags behind the keyboard.

IE, the latest version upgrade, also loads slowly, with the bar usually showing multilpe menu items / options bars before the diappear. It is an annoyance, but I am concerned about other issues.

The battery is pretty well worn, so I have to use the laptop plugged in if I use it for more than twenty minutes, FYI.

Please note that a few months ago, a glass of water was spilled on the keyboard. I quickly unplugged the laptop and out the battery, then used a hair dryer it dry. I do not have restarting the laptop for a few days to make sure it was dry, and when I finally turn it on, it came back to life.

To try to see what can be slow laptop ith, I deleted some programs, noting that there are literally two dozen HP sponsored programs, ranging from the diagonstic tools Drive keeps and feel Cool. Who is needed, what installation can I get rid of it?

I cleaned the programs loading at startup. I used CC cleaner to clean the boot and the registry.  I used Malware Bytes to check the bad things. Make sure that the MS updates are common, as well as those for the bios and drivers. (Updates of player for the integrated graphics subsystem and the sound are hard to find probably the age / quality of the system.)

So the question: are these normal symptoms for a laptop in four years?

Can I use the HP program installed on tp restore laptop to factory setting, I, e., restore it in a pristine state?

Are there other measures available before doing this drastic step?

I appreciate any useful input. Thanks Barsac

I want to add more ram on my laptop dv6 - 6163cl of Pavilion. HP seet spec say about this notebook can handle up to 16 GB of memory. But when I went to crucial site it tells me that I can only add 8 gb. I was going to throw caution to the wind and just add an 8 GB stick (for a total of 12 GB) and see what happens. But I thought I'd ask instead.

Your machines use Intel processor so it supports 16 GB of RAM as indicated on the Service Manual (page #5):

This decline in the amps would be the cause of my intermittent load?

    Hi mate

Generally, the value of intensity may be different. The value of the Volt is important.
It should be the same as the old power adapter.

However, the 1. 58A seems to me a little too low please check this new (don t mix this 100-240V (1. 58 (a).

I have two adapters; one with 4. 74 and the second with 3. 95A. 19V both and I can use both with my laptop.

    Hello

Consult this publication of the article.  Open your PC and a few measure ensure that the graphics card will adjust. While the PC is open, measure the distance between the power supply and the optical drive.  Feeding you are considering is 1.6 "longer. It compress the space between the power supply and the optical drive, making it very tight wiring and may bend the cables too.  I suggest that you consider the CX600 Corsair or CS650m they match better is physical size with the existing power supply.

The NVIDIA GTX 660 is a map of excellent graphics for PCs that have a legacy BIOS.  The new higher level cards will not run in your PC.

If you are not sure that the NVIDIA GTX 660 has sufficient performance, then try one or more game simulators that are available on the internet.

These articles HOWTO HPshould be useful.

The processor and the existing memory should be enough for most modern games.

No need to replace the power supply to allow an upgrade of the CPU.

  • How many watts of power is really enough for the photoshop job?

I continued to read mixed reviews as 250 watts of power is a slow machine, but this seems to be what many of the machines are made up (between 250 and 300 watts of power). Is this something that is really important? Thanks for your review!

    Timetoupgrade,

Your original question was really what is Photoshop requires to run. The minimum standards for the Photoshop, according to Adobe is this:

    Processor Intel® Pentium® 4 or AMD Athlon® 64

Microsoft® Windows® XP with Service Pack 3; Windows Vista® Home Premium, Business, Ultimate, or enterprise with Service Pack 1 (Service Pack 2 recommended); or Windows 7

    1 GB of RAM

1 GB of disk space available for installation. additional space required during installation

screen 1024 x 768 (1280 x 800 recommended) with graphics OpenGL hardware acceleration, 16-bit color, and 256 MB of VRAM

Some GPU accelerated features require graphics support for Shader Model 3.0 and OpenGL 2.0

    DVD-ROM drive

QuickTime 7.6.2 software required for multimedia features

Internet connection broadband required for the online services and to validate the subscription edition (as applicable) on an ongoing basis *.

No you cannot upgrade CPU or GPU in this model, you may need to change management as a whole which is not recommended in relation to the cost of making and performance you expect from this type of laptop.

  • Power Supply update

I have an old PC on my network, the name of the product: HP Compaq 8000 Elite CMT PC, Windows 7 64-bit, Intel 2 duo E8400.  I was in charge of feeding, currently 300 watt Moose comes with the PC.

This day and age that a 300 watt covers just the Basic, not to mention that I also intend on upgrading the graphics card to a AMD Radeon HD 6670 from the Intel on board graphics chip.

So my question is will a CORSAIR CX series CX600 600 Watt be good.  When I started to test an on-site price said that phones could not manage this, which seemed strange.  He tried to sell me another brand, I've never heard of high and low priced 500 watts.  He said the motherboard was a custom HP and couldn't manage a universal power supply.

I checked the size and it will fit in the case, and to my knowledge, the motherboard has to handle 600 watts if she can be one of 500 watts.  Is there anything else I should look at?

A CX600 Corsair will work in this PC?

I'm not particularly intelligent or gifted. I'm just very, very curious.
    Albert Einstein

Thanks for the comments, I looked at the Tech Specs. and the only rating on exceeding 320 watts was the note.  This got me wondering from a seller I price said almost the same thing, but he said that one of 500 watts would do the job.

So I pulled the covers and checked the motherboard, somehow it has not added HP with a motherboard in a machine oriented professional users.  Even at the time it would have been a killer knowing how business as improving and not to buy new equipment.  I scraped my fingers a little do, but find the serial number of motherboards and the manufacturer.  After a bit of searching, I find nothing say that the motherboard could not handle a higher load.

So I took a gamble and bought a watt Corsair CX500 (just in case the 600 watt was pushing it).  Installed without any problems, and so far all is going well, test gear shows power on the rails of the standard, so after a few tests more, I installed the graphics card.  So now, the system has a new power supply of 500 watts and a Radeon HD 6670 with 2g on the card in it and works very well.

So much for the manual tech, I think HP more at their maximum on POWER supply adapted to the times.  The reason why I wanted to replace the power supply was so it was thought I update at the same time.  Never like throwing of older equipment which still has plenty of life in it.  It has 12G of memory, and he now has with the new power SUPPLY and a graphics card more service time.

    Thanks for your help.

    Hi forum,

trust, you do well. I'm looking for the driver for my lan or wifi network adapter.  I use a HP Pavilion 15-e055sia (full specs).

The thing is I had initially a windows 8, I rolled back to windows 7, I thought that I would have downloaded the necessary drivers using the pcdiag of the tech center , but I forgot I'd need at least to have net connection to make it work. So, there you have it. If one of you could tell me the driver for lan or wifi card, I would be very grateful.
