  • Deactivation of apps for online games

    I recently bought a new Dell laptop with Windows 8 on it. I appreciate the operating system and it is easy to navigate with my touch screen. However, I recently downloaded some online games and a few questions.

    The internet home is acceptable, but certainly not fast. For this reason, I want to be able to use all of my network speed for the game I want to play. I'm afraid I can't do that because of applications that require an internet connection. I don't want apps to take any network speed. Any player who suffered the wrath of the gal network during a match in line can understand my frustration.
    Is there a way to temporarily disable applications while I want to play games, and then switch them on when I'm done? I know that some antivirus programs have the opportunity to switch to 'silent' mode or 'game mode', in which they lead no background scan to not interfere with the speed of the computer. I didn't know if Windows 8 has a similar feature.
    I appreciate all help.
    Thank you
    Trent

    Yes, indeed, just the apps.  It will suspend any background downloads, updates, tiles alive and a few other things.  But any application that you can always use your entire network connection.

  • First Pro crashes after you quit - Mac OSX Lion

    Greetings,

    Symptoms:

    I have a behavior coherent crash after quiting Premiere Pro (version 5.5.1 and 5.5.2). The complexity of the project does not seem to matter, and once it crashes, I get the prompt indicating that the application has encountered a serious error and will try to save the project. I then get the usual prompt to send to apple crash report, followed by the crash adobe report a few minutes later (must be why I see "dynamiclinkmanager" at the top for a bit after PP crashes).

    If I reopen it PP, I am prompted with a dialog box asking if I want to the last open project. If I say yes, I'm back in a crash before any active load (unexpected serious error and the will of the app must close) followed by accident yet for apple and adobe reports. Basically, I have a chance to do a project and it spoil when the application is closed.

    I am using an installation from a DVD, but had also tried the web version. I was able to create a project to couple with the web version (trial) and then when I got the DVD, I believe that I used for the update/authenticate, etc. - maybe it's where things went south (everyone is a similar trend?).  I don't think that too many mix the contents with the installation of web, DVD so the steps around how I mixed the two sources is somewhat blurred.

    For reference, I am pasting the online crash report. To reproduce, I just had to open PP, click on no when asked to open the last project of unexpectedly, and then just quit and got the crash. I didn't do anything other that accept the default values for the project in order to try to hit command-Q.

    If I can give you more information to help a repro, please let me know.

    Any help is appreciated and thanks in advance.

    Perhaps due to some of your other installed?

    Given that I started this thread, I had very recently PP5.5.0 working on Lion, even w / my ATI card and it turns quite stable. I need to test more but given that the PP is the only 3rd party something on this installation of the OS and it is inconvenient to change the startup discs when I want to use other applications.

    I ended up doing dmg at each point of restoration during debugging, i.e. after the new installation of OS, then after installation, PP, etc..

    It's a bit easier to go back to the last known good state, if I got in trouble.

    I can also test updates to Adobe, but w / stability given, I (fingers crossed) not sure I want to update something that is not broken. Same w / disk images to speed things up, I'd rather be in the mix. I'll eventually do this, but right now, I enjoy being able to use PP.

    Hope that helps, I'd back things until it works, or bring up the place, make images along the way and see where things break. I'm not sure how invasive is a facility (e.g. it is really all the reversible effects) and without a new installation of the operating system as starting point reliable, I am sometimes wary of some persistent pref/dependence silently screwing things up (for example after uninstall/reinstall, same behaviour). It is a PITA, but so is the major downtime.

    Let me know if I can give you any other details/info.

    BTW, I have not mixed AE w / PP installation, but I intend to. Other major software I want to have on this installation of the OS are Digital Performer, but that will have to be on another image.

    see you soon,

    Todd

  • Satellite L350-24U: Windows Vista crashes after installing SP2

    Hello

    I own a Satellite L350-24U laptop with Windows Vista 32. I bought in October and had to reinstal the OS twice now. Still, it crashes after installation of Service Pack 2. After you restart the system, a blue screen appears, giving the following information

    STOP: 0 X 00000024 (0 X 00190444, 0X86B9BAD0, 0XC0000102, 0X00000000)

    I had to reinstall Win Vista with HDD Recovery from Toshiba (press F8, then repair etc.) and everything worked properly again.
    THS time, it's more serious. Last night the system shut down whenever you use internet explore (after about 30 seconds). SP2 has not been installed, but there are so many problems, I decided to install SP2, because I hoped that the bugs I had with SP2 would be eliminated. When installing SP2, the system crashed again, and now I got the same bluescreenmessage new.

    I tried to reinstall Vista, but the Toshiba HDD program starts no more: it is said: the installed program is not working (or something similar) - please click on ok to close.

    I did not burn the cd of recovery yet, so I don't know what more can be done and online support is closed today.
    I'd really be very happy for any help
    Thank you

    Hello

    I searched a bit on the Microsoft Web site and on the blue screen, I created this article:
    http://msdn.Microsoft.com/en-GB/library/ms793935.aspx

    So I think that the reason for the BSOD is a corrupted file system or a defective HARD drive. You should check the drive using the Drive Fitness Test for example.

    I put t understand why you didn't burn the disc of recovery yet. Why you didn t read the manual at first?
    Now, you have only one option to get a new recovery disk: Please order a new Toshiba directly: https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx

  • Satellite P200 - all browsers crashes after 5-20 minutes

    I'm losing the will to live with this laptop.
    Satellite P200-13z with Vista 32 bit

    The question is this... no matter what browser I use, it will freeze and hang. Opera, IE and Firefox. Sometimes, it will be good and knitting for 20 minutes, sometimes it will crash in 5 minutes.

    I updated my drivers, made re - installs operating system clean, tested my RAM, stop all the but MS services, virtual memory increased, prayed in various Germanic gods.
    I have Avast and Zone Alarm connecting only Non MS. services I can stop them and see what happens, but not sure it will cause.

    I am of the opinion that we linked memory and how it is handled, as possible aligned with Adobe Flash (arrow). Maybe a Vista problem.
    Uninstalling this curse (Flash) does not seem to solve the problem either.

    Can someone point me in the right direction? 18 months trying to solve this problem... and now I need the laptop to full time it needs to be fixed.

    It is not an isolated problem that or the other, google image search "vista all the browser crash ' to see what is happening there and completely lack of knowledge or solution for this problem.

    Thank you very much in advance for a supported.

    Hello

    Do you mean exactly by accident?
    None of the browsers only freeze or you get a blue screen?

    Have you noticed the behavior even if you use another application like Word, Excel, some Windows games or something similar? This occur using only browsers?

    I have Satellite P200 too and after 2 years of use still works well.
    To be honest I've never heard that someone is looking to fix at 18 months. It can be fixed, or you need professional with that help until the warranty is valid.

    Q: do you have a Norton or McAfee free trial come preinstalled on the computer when you bought it (and that would have been installed, but not valid, when you reinstalled Vista)?

    A: McAfee has been the free trial when I bought the laptop.  I've tended after the expiration on the McAfee.

    Comment: If you didn't let the McAfee free trial expires before replace you it with the application of Trend Micro, chances are that you should not have to reinstall Vista.

    When you reinstalled Vista, McAfee free trial was also reinstalled, but not valid. You should have (1) uninstalled McAfee free trial AND (2) download / run the McAfee removal tool (see below) before installing Microsoft Security Essentials AND BEFORE that you have installed the Windows updates.

    That being said, see if the following solves your problem:

    1. download the McAfee Consumer Product Removal, save it to your desktop tool:http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/MCPR.exe

    2. close all open applications (that is, anything with an icon on the taskbar).

    3. click right on the file saved in #1 above, and then select run as administrator to run the utility. DO TAP not your keyboard until the race ends, then restart.

    4. open Internet Explorer (only) to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923737 & run the difficulty.

    5. open Internet Explorer (only) to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058 & run this difficulty in DEFAULT and modes and AGGRESSIVE. [1]

    6. restart once again & test.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    [1] full Disclosure: the difficulty operating in AGGRESSIVE mode will remove your update history but not the list of installed updates.
    fl0bot,
    The message you are getting means that there is some corrupt system files that could not be fixed.  If you look in the CBS.log file , it should tell you which files.  When you do that, you can try to replace the corrupt files.  However this seems to happen whenever you update it a game then you will need to contact their support for aid as this can be a problem for them.  Mike - Engineer Support Microsoft Answers
    Vista and Windows 7 updated drivers love then here's how update the most important.
    This is my generic how updates of appropriate driver:
    This utility, it is easy see which versions are loaded:
    -Free - DriverView utility displays the list of all device drivers currently loaded on your system.
    For each driver in the list, additional useful information is displayed: load address of the driver,
    Description, version, product name, company that created the driver and more.
    http://www.NirSoft.NET/utils/DriverView.html
    For drivers, visit manufacturer of emergency system and of the manufacturer of the device that are the most common.
    Control Panel - device - Graphics Manager - note the brand and complete model
    your video card - double - tab of the driver - write version information. Now, click on update
    Driver (this can do nothing as MS is far behind the certification of drivers) - then right-click.
    Uninstall - REBOOT it will refresh the driver stack.
    Repeat this for network - card (NIC), Wifi network, sound, mouse, and keyboard if 3rd party
    with their own software and drivers and all other main drivers that you have.
    Now in the system manufacturer (Dell, HP, Toshiba as examples) site (in a restaurant), peripheral
    Site of the manufacturer (Realtek, Intel, Nvidia, ATI, for example) and get their latest versions. (Look for
    BIOS, Chipset and software updates on the site of the manufacturer of the system here.)
    Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AD ADMIN - REBOOT after
    each installation.
    Always check in the Device Manager - drivers tab to be sure the version you actually install
    presents itself. This is because some restore drivers before the most recent is installed (sound card drivers
    in particular that) so to install a driver - reboot - check that it is installed and repeat as
    necessary.
    Repeat to the manufacturers - BTW in the DO NOT RUN THEIR SCANNER device - check
    manually by model.
    Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.
    If necessary you can try an upgrade in Place or a repair installation (don't use these if you)
    not tried the above methods that the same issues are present).
    You can use another DVD that aren't copy protected but you you need to own
    Product key. It must be the same version 32 or 64 BIT Vista OEM. Also the system
    machine to usually sell the cheap disk since you already own Windows. Don't forget to make a
    good backup or 3 (security in redundancy).
  • Vista crashes after using it for a few minutes and then does not start (after a few hours - it starts and again the same problem)
    I'll have this weird problem and did not find the problem. Suddenly my laptop (Lenovo Y710 - 4 GB RAM - Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit) crashes after a few minutes of activity, Vista freezes. CTRL + Alt + Delete does not work. If I force close to the bottom and then try to restart, it do display anything. I tried to start in safe mode, but after pressing f8 and it only beeps and still doest appear anyting on screen you. If I try to start the laptop after a few hours it starts again and minutes it freezes again. I noticed this problem for the first time when using RDP to my desktop, but it wasn't the first time I've done RDP. I have not installed new hardware or drivers. Am not able to nail the question, would appreciate any help.
    Thank you.
    This is no doubt hardware failure. The laptop could be overheating and/or other components could be involved. Contact Lenovo technical support or take to a competent local computer Tech do not use a type of BigComputerStore/GeekSquad of the place.
    If you have a pretty good level of computer skills, you can test some components yourself although it is more difficult to make accurate material on a laptop computer troubleshooting.
  • Win XP crashes after the splash screen (charge PointSec)
    I have a laptop lenovo t400, which has Pointsec Encryption (6.1.3), and WinXP loaded thereon.
    I ran the update tool think that Vantage Lenovo that has downloaded and installed a number of updates - I didn't run it for centuries.
    Now when I try to start the computer it crashes after the XP splash screen is displayed. Simply, the screen goes black.
    I tried the options Mode safe (include VGA Mode and start with the last successful configuration) without success. Also, they fail to start.
    The flow rate is:
    Power On, screen authentication PointSec, Win XP Splash screen, and then a black screen
    I got successfully into the system using UBCD4Win with pointsec plugin loaded, load a WinPE environment on a USB and allows me to access the C: drive unencrypted (as I've authenticated with Pointsec).
    I'm really stuck for ideas as to the update is the cause of the problem and I'd love to hear some suggestions on how to remedy this situation.
    Additional information:
    The last lines in ntbtlog.txt is:
    Not load the parallel driver live
    Did not load driver bios SM service
    Did not load driver SM bus service
    Loaded driver \SystemRoot\System32\Drivers\Cdfs.SYS
    Search:
    c:\Windows\$NtServicePackUninstall$
    Looks like that Service Pack 3 has been installed:
    File: spuninst\spuninst, inf shows:
    NtServicePackVersionText = "Service Pack 3".
    NtServicePackPreviousVersionText = "Service Pack 2".
    Fixed!
    The problem has been updates to lenovo (probably guilty being the video driver that I presume).
    Using UBCD4Win with pointsec plugin I was able
    * Access to the decrypted c:
    * Restored manually updates to c:\windows\system32 and c:\windows\system32\drivers
    Original files have been found in places like: c:\windows\system32\reinstallbackups\008\DriverFiles
    * Finally, I had to roll back updates of the register who did the updates. UBCD4Win offers a tool to do this: the registry Restore Wizard. He basically just look in c:\System Volume Information System Restore directory and lists all the Restore Points available (Fortunately the Lenovo updates mark a restore point until they run). You can also do it manually using the following instructions:
    http://hypography.com/forums/tutorials-and-how-tos/17193-XP-recovery-instructions-for-UBCD4Win.html
    This makes the system successfully booted.
    I've most definitely will be staying clear after you press the big blue button in the future. It was a nightmare to fix.
  • Photoshop crashes after going to Win8 Win10 back to Win8.
    Hi all
    So I tried Windows 10 and hated! When I converted to Windows 8 some of my programs stopped working not, Photoshop being one of them. It will be open but not allow images to load. It crashes when I try. I also have Lightroom and it works perfectly. Any suggestions? How can I reload Photoshop?
    Thank you
    Fred
    IMO the latest drivers 'Crimson' from AMD not are not very good - but for me with the Photoshop worked better than apparently she does for you.  My problem is that with the latest driver AMD my system would crash after playback of videos.  I ended up roll back to an older version.
    My suggestion: get their catalyst last version (not Crimson): 15.11.1.  This is the version that I moved on.
    Specifically, you will need to download the package, and then run a 3rd party tool called Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to get rid of latest drivers, then reboot, then install the 15.11.1 catalyst package.
    With this version of my Dell workstation, VisionTek ATI Radeon HD 7850 3 monitors, runs indefinitely without a problem, including the frequent use of Photoshop CC 2015.5 with Camera Raw with GPU support is enabled.  I do a lot and this system keeps ticking; Heck, I even use a tool that revives Aero Glass, from which I like.
