PCI-6255 recognize PXI?

I am installing a PCI-6255 card in a desktop computer running Windows 7 Professional. I'm using Labview 8.5.1, with NOR-DAQmx 8.7. The Windows Device Manager recognizes the Council without problem and says it's working properly. But MAX (4.4.1) it appear under "(unidentified) PXI, as"PXI1::1:INSTR (PCI-6255)"System.

When I try to start a task of acquisition in SignalExpress (2.5.1), I get the following: "no supported devices found."

When I try to save data with my usual custom script, I get the following: "- 50204 error to DAQmx Create Channel (HAVE voltage - Basic.vi:1) '" or the possible reasons: the specified file could not be opened. " The operation could not be performed as indicated. »

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling both Labview and NOR-DAQmx, separately and together, and with or without the Board of Directors is plugged. The result is the same every time.

I appreciate any help you can offer.

Hello steve_mcgie,

When a device is presented as another device or has an incorrect name (your 6255 appearing as a PXI device), this means usually only an error in Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX) data.  I would like for you to go through the following steps to specify the error and help solve this problem.

  1. Have you tried to take action using the MAX test panel or create a task. This can be done by clicking on the test panels or create task option show in the picture below. Please take a measurment and see if you get the same error (50204).
  2. You could put a picture of your windows Device Manager and your MAX showing the gap in the name of this device.
  3. I suggest you upgrade your version of NOR-DAQmx of 8.7 to 9.3 in order to MAX level and possible to resolve the issue. Please take a look DAQmx 9.3 and the readme file which is compatible for you operating system, version of LabVIEW signal express. If you do not want to install a new version of DAQmx please take a look at the number 5 below.
  4. To remove the database from corruption MAX please take a look at this Knowledge Base Article.

  • System-> DevNames DAQmx detects not PCI-5105

    Hi all

I use the property system/DevNames DAQmx node to remove all the hardware connected to the system and to dynamically assign device names to measures/controls s/w. This property node has worked well up until now - when I then added a PCI-5105 (digitizer).

I understand that this use the niSCOPE IVI instrument driver when you write Labview code and perhaps this has something to do with the problem, but my understanding was that if the Measurement & Automation explore displays the device and name under the directory under devices and peripheral Interfaces/NOR-DAQmx then this property node needs to pick it up. (IE NI PCI-6255: "Dev1" or NI PCI-5105: 'Dev3, etc...)

Is there a way where I can automatically detect the device name? Or is the problem, because its use IVI and requires a class IVI to define?

Would be happy for some advice!

    Hi Barkusmaximus,

In fact, you can use the scope OR api to detect devices connected to your system.  The VI under NI Scope > utility > ModInst will detect and display the details of the device.  See the VI attached for an example.

  • Error 0XFFFB388E

    Hello

I have a problem with my chassi PXI-1045. The configuration is the following:

    PC--> PCIE - 8361--> PXI - 836--> PXI-1045

I'm going on the software MAX, right-click on "chassis (unidentified)", identified as and PXI-1-45. Then, I got the following error message:

"Error 0XFFFB388E - this chassis has been identified but is not described in sys.ini pxi (e) for this system.  Year error occurred enumerating the chassis. »

I did a search on this error and I found this page: http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/5485414DD262AD75862578B000793445

I haven't time real Labview, but my services platform PXI is the version 14.0. I think that is not my problem.

You have an idea, or you have the chassis.ini file for the PXI chassis? Maybe it can solve my problem?

    Hi MBD.

You are right. You are not connected to a real-time target. You just expand your computer's PCI slot. (PXI means actually to PCI Extension for Instrumentation!)  However, you do want to ensure that your platform PXI and VISA services drivers are compatible. In addition, you might want to try a repair PXI Platform Services installation.  Maybe the driver was not installed correctly.

  • News Digital connector 50 pins

I had a hard time finding info on get a cable or a plug which would correspond to the very high density 50 pin digital connector on the front of our card PXI-5411.  Other cards with the same connector are (so searches will be hit this message):

    PCI-5401

    PXI-5431

    PCI-5411

    PCI-5431

Connector VHDCI 68 similar pins used on other maps NOR is much easier to find cables or candles for outdoors NEITHER since it is a standard SCSI.  Initially, I was looking on VHDCI looking for anything with 50 pins and had no luck.  But after nearly a day of research and call autour (including sales OR), I found a diagram of a connector somewhere online that showed the words 'VHDCI' as well as "0.8 mm FIELD."  This last was the magical term to search for.  Research which has shown that Tyco Electronics (AMP) makes separate connectors, but also cables double-ended.  After I found this info on my 2nd day of the search, OR reminded me and says they actually have a cable that will connect to this connector.  It is NOT anywhere on their site or even in the old catalog OR listed my card PXI-5411, therefore nothing only searching on ni.com meet.  Here is the info for the 2 lengths, they have:

    Description: SHC50-68 Cable, 1 meter

    Part number: 184748-01

    Price: $129

    Description: SHC50-68 Cable, 2 meters

    Part number: 184748-02

    Price: $139

I'm not too happy about the lack of information in the documentation OR on this connector.  If anyone nor bed, please write these suggestions to all concerned within the company:

1 mention (in the card/equipment and online documentation) the name normalized for all connectors used on everything.

    2. place all items and gone somewhere online or in a database so that a search can turn at least until a clue as to whether or not something is always available.

If either of these elements would have been there, I would have lost a lot less time to find and order the cable of NOR.  The lack of availability of information of OR is sometimes very frustrating.

    -Brad

    Brad,

I'm sorry that you had a hard time finding information on this connector.  you're right, WHAT VHDCI is not a very common name for this connector.  Apparently, there are many different names for it, including VHDCI, FIELD, microstrip, SCSI 1 (it's a very old SCSI standard), "narrow SCSI", type D, etc.  I will file applications to refer to some of these more common names in our documentation and on our Web site.

Regarding the cables SHC50-68 we sell, if I'm not mistaken those who have actually a 50 connector pins on one side and a 68 connector pin to another.  Looking for a cable 50 pin to 50 pin, or something to convert to 68-pin?  Maybe the reason why cable is not, it came to the top of your initial search.  Another reason is that the 5411 has been deprecated; We sell is no longer (but we still support them), and that the cable used to be located on 5411 product page (which no longer exists).  I'll see if we can make easier to find on our website SHC50-68 cable.

Thank you for bringing this to my attention.

I use dynamic generation to generate a binary pattern on the pins 0-15.

I'm tracking the trigger from start to RTSI6.

    I use a software trigger.

On the side of the reading, I use a dynamic Acquisition.  The start trigger is triggered off the coast of RTSI6.

Everything works exactly as it is supposed to. I get the binary model, BUT

The read function is advanced clock EXACTLY 50 cycles.  So, I get a '0' reading the lines of channel for 50 cycles before the binary sequence appears in my wave of reading.

I suspected that it has anything to do with the outbreak of the reference, so I tried to define the source of command reference for RTSI6 also, with delay sample 0, and I get a timeout.

I'm so close, but I would like to know why I'm getting a pre-roll buffer 50 cycle even if I did not specify...

    CCITest,

If you are looking to synchronize several 6552 juries, you will want to use TCLK.   NEITHER TCLK is the synchronization scheme products Memory Core (SMC)-based and integrated with National Instruments synchronization.  More information about the details behind this technology can be found in the help HSDIO document (start > programs > National Instruments > NOR-HSDIO > Documentation > NI Digital Waveform Generator-Analyzer Help).  Inside of this help document, a good starting point is the title of programming > references > NOR-TClk synchronization help > preview OR-TClk.

NOR-TClk will allow you to start several cards at the same time.  Leave your post I don't know if you are using a card PCI-6552 or PXI-6552 module, however when you use a version PCI RTSI cable allows up to 5 tips be connected.  Using PXI, you can fill the frame and synchronize your 7 boards.  There are several examples that show how to use NOR-TClk.  These examples can be found under start > programs > National Instruments > NOR-HSDIO > example.  Then choose your preferred language and select synchronization.llb or the sync folder.

  • Application using Signal Express RTSI

    Hello

I am interested in recording of analog signal synchronization (start time, acquisition of the sample, 3 cards PCI-6289 stop time) and possibly their synchronization with 3 to 5 more cards NI PXI-6221, that are connected to the same host PC via a PCIe-8361 interface PXI-8360.  For now, I will focus on the 3 cards PCI-6289.  I used a RTSI cable with VI recorder is no longer supported and guess that it works well with Signal Express.  I've set up a device cable RTSI NOR able & Automation, which includes 3 PCI cards.  3 PCI cards are the only devices connected to the RTSI cable.  When you check the properties of the RTSI cable device, I left all the boxes unchecked, that seems to be the right setting for my application.  In Signal Express, when you add a device in the Panel on the left of data acquisition (analog voltage signals), I always see each individual card (Dev1, Dev2, Dev3, etc.), but there is no device RTSI.  If I look into the advanced features of synchronization of each of the three panels DAQAcquire, I can apparently use a card as a master clock and the two other cards will have master card sync signals (is it automatically via the RTSI cable, or do I need to connect external clock out on the master card to the clock on the slave cards?) but once again There is no mention of the cable RTSI, or configuration of device RTSI in MAX.  Using the clock of a card in a situation of master/slave help, but it starts and stops all three cards at the same time, or no apparent synchronization between maps will simply be a coincidence?

    Any suggestions are appreciated.

    Kind regards

    Brian

You really need your question to the SignalExpress Commission. Few people here use it.

  • Thermocouple reading (w / Source built-in CJC) only works on the random strings of CBS

I'm using LabVIEW 8.2.1, a card PCI-6255 and a block of connection SCB-68. I have a Type K thermocouple with a calibrator thermocouple which I'm trying to measure. It is the problem, first, using the attached VI, I tried to read this TC with AI0. Whenever I have use AI0 I get error saying THAT integrated CSF is not available. When I use another channel, this error disappears. The second problem, when I use a different channel than the AI0, I am only able to read Treasury on random channels correctly. For example, it works on AI13 to AI15. For channels that does NOT work, I am able to see the correct voltage thanks to MAX, but DID read TC VI not for any reason any gives an accurate reading.

Nobody knows why, I wouldn't be able to use AI0, and why I only use certain channels for this TC? This is absolutely insane and I tried swapping the CBS, the map of the DAC and cables. I also reinstalled drivers and LabVIEW.

Please help this is driving me crazy!

  • 625 x noise specification

I have a card PCI-6255 that I intend to use for certain sensitive measures.

I'm trying to put together a budget-to-end error and I have a few questions.

My model is in terms of number of analog-to-digital converter (also known as the LSB in your datasheet).

In the table of absolute precision on page 5 of the 615 x standard OR I see a column called random noise, (uVrms).

I think I understand the residual gain error, offset error residual and associated with it and the INL error, but random noise is confusing to me.

Here's why: on the +/-2V of type range, the random noise is 16 uV.  On this beach, the resolution of the ADC is 6.1 uV so random noise is about 2.6LSB

If I look at the +/-5V Beach, I see a random noise of 140uV.  On this beach, the resolution of the ADC is 305uV so random noise is well under a LSB.

Therefore, in the budget of my mistake, I can use "1 LSB" for noise random when on the beach of 5V, but I have to use LSB '2.6' or '3' when the type 2V range.

I expect a signal of about 150 mV riding on a 2, 5V CC.  I was worried, I might need to compensate the signal (remove the 2, 5V dc) in order to use the +/-gamme.2 volts to get the best resolution.  Also, I thought that I would get better sound performance too.  In looking at the figures here, but looks like I'd be better off using the +/-5V range (assuming that there is enough resolution) because the readings have less noise counties (even if it's more noise volts).

I can explain the error of Gain and Offset error by injecting known signals and making a "correction of the software.  Not sure, but I think I can correct for the INL also if I use a 2nd or 3rd order polynomial.  It is the random noise, I have problems understanding.

Here's the question: what is the random noise in table AI accuracy for 625 x boards?  Can you give an example of how NEITHER could have measured it?

Secondly, note 2 says "sensitivity is the smallest voltage change this canbe found. It is a function of the noise. "He measured with a signal to noise ratio of '1' or '2' or some other standard, or is it a calculated value?

    Thank you

    MG

The function of Gaussian Distribution is often used to describe the noise. Random noise spec'd in the table of precision is a gap type distribution of probability of noise and was probably calculated using statistical analysis. That's why the uncertainty of noise takes into account a 3 coverage factor that represents the largest part of the distribution.

With respect, the specification of sensitivity, this requires a more detailed explanation, but it is essentially an industrial standard that takes into account more statistical analysis on a signal when awarded with noise. According to me, the mix is a compoenent of this measure.

  • NI PXI - 8361 PCIe card not detected

    Hello community,

I'm trying to mount this PXI system and running on a computer that is running Windows 7 Enterprise 32-bit. We already have a system running on another computer running Windows XP 32-bit.

    Chassis OR PXI-1036

OR PXI-8360 controller connected to the PC via card OR PXI - PCIe-8361

    NI PXI-6220 multifunction data acquisition

    NI PXI-2570 relay module

    OR PXI-GPIB

I spent a day or two trying to download different drivers and could see the NI PXI-PCIe 8361 NI Max card, but I did not see the chassis. I then tried uninstalling all software of OR, so that I could do with care that it was installed in the proper order:

    1. shut down the PC and PXI system, disconnected from the PXI from your PC system.

2 installed Labwindows + Labview (Developer Suite 2011)

3 installed NI PXI Platform Services CD that came with the PXI (Version 3.2.3) system

4 installed 'System NI Driver Set 2014.05' a Flash disk that came with the PXI system

    5. off the PC and then on the PXI system and connected to the computer.

After turning on the PC, I see that MAX NOR does not seem able to recognize the NI PXI-PCIe 8361 card as I have before.

At this point, I thought that it would be better to ask the community for help rather than start abritrarily updated drivers again.

Thing some Chris!  HM this is interesting.  Looks like this might be a BIOS problem, in accordance with the following article -http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/81A788D0076390FA86257BF9002F9983?OpenDocument.  The link also shows that some BIOS update the troubleshooting steps.  I hope this will redirect you to a resolution.

  • The attention! Error initializing PCI express slot 4 (for a PCIe used in the PXI-1033 chassis)

    Hello

I have problems with my PXI system. When I try to contact the 1033 chassis using his high card my computer does not recognize (the PC displays the message during the start-up stage: "alert!) Error Initializing PCI express Slot 4). It was working fine before, but the chassis has been disconected with the PC on. I read that it may cause failures of communication, but I have not found a good source for this problem. Could someone help me with this problem?

    Thank you very much!

    Victor

    Hi Victor,

Can you check something for me? One, can you try to disconnect the cable between the PXI and PCIe cards and try to restart your machine. When you do this, you still see the message? I know that you mentioned in your first point that the chassis is turned on when you see the error message, so I'm just trying to clarify what you mean by that.

Also, it is quite easy to plug in a cable express MXI upside down, so even if point 2 you said that the links appear to be good I had to check to make sure that the cable is properly connected. You have additional cables, you can test?
