PCI-GPIB / LP console replacement

I bought a PCI-GPIB / LP card by mistake. I was wondering if it is possible to get a replacement support to convert this card in a standard profile card.

Thank you

Hi jeanmi,.

Unfortunately, we do not support provide to allow a low-profile PCI to fit into a standard PCI slot. This info can be reference in this knowledge base article, in the very last paragraph: 2HM7I2AL knowledge base: what is a low-profile PCI card?

I suggest you talk with your technical representative to see if you can return the card or get a replacement. You can find your local representative from this link: http://www.ni.com/domestic_sales/

  • The card using PCI-GPIB hangs the system (Windows 7)

    Hello

I am running Labview 11.0 (32-bit) on Windows 7 (64-bit) computer and card PCI-GPIB to communicate with instruments.

Can I use GPIB to send commands to the device, but when I used "Measure and Automation" and analysis of the instruments he runs right first time, but if I scan again the system crashes completely (no reaction to any seizure).

Same thing happens if I use I/O Assistant VI, I can get a response from the instrument and on the second call, the system hangs. Yet, I can send as many orders without any problem, so the source is in the reading stage.

The PCI-GPIB card worked perfectly well for years on another computer running Windows XP.

Someone already had this problem and what can be the source of it?

I had a similar problem, but I just found out that the motherboard was not good...

Try in another computer... Optionally, you can uninstall and install back the NI 488 drivers. 2...

  • PCI-GPIB and controller movement legacy Newport Orion-CM - timeout in MAX but not MATLAB

I kinda a weird GPIB problem which seems to be related to the legacy quirks of implementation of GPIB.  The system I use is an Orion of Newport-CM, which has a controller of electrostrictifs actuator in him as a monitor of power on separate GPIB addresses, but a physical port.  I have it connected via a<= 2m="" cable="" to="" an="" ni="" pci-gpib="" board. ="" i've="" tried="" both="" the="" 2.6="" and="" 2.2="" ni-488.2="" drivers="" and="" both="" act="" the="">

I found that when I try to query the device through MAX, I can see a SPY OR that the first FindLstn mark 2 units, but expires (probably to try a * IDN? command, because it signals no response).  After that, if I try other commands via MAX or MATLAB, all the GPIB commands time out, so I have to power cycle the Newport before being receptive again.  I tried every permutation of the GPIB driver located in MAX without result - always the same behavior settings.

Curiously, however, when I use the device only in MATLAB (with the instrument control toolbox), I can have some success, but with delays every now and then are not paralyze the MAX in the same way, it was.  I am able to open the device with:

    mcobj = gpib ('nor', 0, 1);

    fopen (mcobj);

    and query with:

    fprintf(mcobj,'*IDN?');

    data = fscanf (mcobj);

and get the good * IDN? response.

In addition, I can do writing and reads the device (with intermittent downtime... I found I need to leave at least 0.3 seconds between commands, which leads to a slow operation).

It left me speechless.  Of course, it appears the interface GPIB works, maybe slowly, but if I'm not mistaken, the same driver should be usage of communication for MAX and MATLAB, why so MAX time so that I am able to have the operation in MATLAB?  Are there some low level which may be different that I cannot change in MAX or GPIB configuration, but is defined by MATLAB?

Any thoughts appreciated.  Newport is as usual MOM on obsolete parts, and their job is not much help outside retailer orders GPIB (Nothing on the specifications of the bus).

    Thank you

    Scott

Thanks for the tips.  It seems that the old Newport is just really, really slow (must be material and mid-1990 s), so he needs a good break between her send GPIB commands.  I installed the 1.7 legacy drivers, and those at least have correctly the * IDN? the device response.  Gpib MATLAB interface is quite simple you can give sufficient breaks between commands to send to the Newport, so in it, I am able to control the time between orders.

It seems that it is just a matter of a slow device.  I know not what look like the internal FindLstn characteristics and, therefore, why the new version of MAX expires while the old ones do not, but for really old hardware that there could be GPIB read/write in the new pilot who are too fast to actually really old equipment sufficient time to respond.  Thanks again for the input.

  • I disconnected cable PCI-GPIB (desktop disabled) to move the equipment, once reconnected and restarted Desktop, I can't connect to the instruments more (OS Windows XP)

    Hi people,

I hope someone can help me with this problem. I am running a Windows XP operating system where I have recently been using a NI PCI-GPIB to connect to instruments. The other day, I had to turn off the desktop computer to disconnect the GPIB cable to move the material furniture - I do not remember if I had turned off equipment that were connected via GPIB cable before removing the GPIB cable from the desktop.

Although I came to notice that he was in loose in the socket connection that it can be disconnected from the never removed the GPIB card slot. Now with etc-reconnected GPIB cable is unconnected with the instruments via the software I use--I don't see the equipment listed on MAX either. I had NEITHER-488. 2 installed v2.8 and following this issue and various changes to try to solve it (for example, move to another location, System Restore to previous restore point I knew the connection work etc.). I upgraded to 2.8.1 V and still the same issue.

In Device Manager, there is a pilot 'unknown device' I have tried to update and no will - I even tried him assigning driver for the NI PCI-GPIB card that seemed to have worked but still no will.

    Appreciate your help on this.

have you checked that the GPIB card is secure in its niche in the PC?

  • Problem with PCI-GPIB card control Agilent 8648 D generator interface

    Hello

    I downloaded the driver Plug-and-Play (project-style) for Agilent 8648 A generator of signals. I use LabVIEW 2011.

I open the file project and resource VISA name menu, select COM1. Note that I use 82350B of the PCI-GPIB Interface Card.

I run the project, and I get timeout error.

Is there a problem in the PCI-GPIB interface or am I missing something? I'm new to LabView and PCI-GPIB interface, and I'd appreciate any help.

    Thank you

    Nabil Gharib

Given that you do not use a NI GPIB, go to MAX, select software and NI-VISA. In the right window, click the Options of VISA, and then select passports under general settings. Check on the passport of NI-VISA for Tulip.

I'm assumimg you loaded the driver of Agilent and tested the communication with their software.

  • MAX Dosen´t detects my PCI GPIB

Hi guys, I am currently using Windows xp sp2 and labview 8.6 adcademic there must be and interface for an instrument for school and my problem is:

In MAX dosen't appear my PCI (keiithley provider) of KPCI - 488 A card, until my computer hardware, it seems I have alreadry installed the latest driver from keithley page and still does not appear = /, I tried refreshing, fresh installation etc... nothing worked... could someone help me please... tnx guys... xD!

As mentioned, this device will not appear in NOR-MAX because it is NOT material. And no, you NEITHER-488. 2 driver will not work either. You must use the GPIB-488 driver (version 9.0 or 9.1 should work for you). Once installed, use the tools of 488 GPIB software on your system, as follows:

To see if the device works properly first confirm the presence of the jury and then to test its ability to comminicate with an instrument the driver alone and then with NI-VISA:

    1. first check that the KPCI - 488 A is detected by the driver. Run the program Start-> all programs-> GPIB - 488-> diagnosis GPIB. This should confirm if the IPP is recognized or not. If this isn't the case, reinstall the pilot or the pcb.

    2. then, connect an instrument with gpib and attempt to communicate with the driver: Start-> all programs-> GPIB - 488-> TRTEST.exe (use the buttons send and Enter to test writing and reading respectively). If this fails, check your cable connection and make sure that you use the correct address for the instrument number.

    3. If it works, then you can you can try to communicate with the instrument using NI Visa Interactive Control on your system (start-> all programs-> National Instruments-> VISA-> Visa Interactive Control), you can also open it and check if your instrument is listed under the VISA i/o tab. If your device is not listed, then recheck your connections and also your passports VISA.

To check the VISA Paassports, open the utility OR Measurement & Automation (NI Max) and click on software-> NI-VISA, go to VISA-Options tab, click on passports and ensure that the passport of NI-VISA for the GPIB is marked on.

    4. now you are ready to use LabVIEW. You can start with a simple reading GPIB and GPIB write or read visa and Visa write before moving on to complex things.

    Best regards.

  • Pavilion HPE: I need the jetty (or HP) part number connector PCI-e edge to replace on a H8 - 1360t

PCI-e GPU in my H8 - 1360t was pulled without releasing the tab on the connector edge first. Therefore, the connector plastic pulled free of the fingers. The PC is long out of warranty and it would be excluded from the guarantee in any case.

This leaves the PC unusable because plastic case can not be delayed to the fingers. If the motherboard will need to be removed and replaced the edge of the PCI-e connector.

The connector is made by Jetty, but has no part on that number. I need a reference number in order to get a replacement. As far as I know, there is no manual tech specific part for the motherboard I could mention this information. She will have to come from a person to HP.

    Help.

  • GPIB pci windows xp

I have a map of National Instruments PCI-GPIB. Markings on the Board of Directors are N114, 109A06A, Assy: 1685138-01. The board is a low profile.

After installing 2.7.3, I insert this card in a Dell Optiplex GX520 with Windows XP SP3. Windows cannot find the driver for this card. It displays the yellow question mark with PCI controller Simple.

The vendor ID is 1093. The device ID is A 50, 1.

    What should I do next?

Is this Council just not supported?

    Finally solved the problem.

During my research on the problem, I installed 3.0.2, that has not fixed the problem. I installed 3.0.2 because it's the version that should be used according to the table at the URL, http://www.ni.com/white-paper/5326/en. This is a very handy table.

What I've found, is that I have three different cards PCI-GPIB form factors. 1 Board is not recognized as a plug-and-play. Tip 2 appears as a plug and play, but does not have a corresponding Windows XP driver. Board 3 installs properly in Windows XP 32.

3rd chessboard is a PCI full height with a device ID of C801.

Room 2 is a PCI half height with a 5A 01 device ID.

1 Board is a PCI full height, but do not plug and play and so I do not know its device ID.

All three boards are labeled PCI-GPIB. Two boards are labeled N114.

To be really more information on the different variants of PCI-GPIB cards.

    Just have the correct hardware.

  • Replace PCI-6220 PCIe-6320?

New to the forum, so bear with me if I'm in the wrong place.

I have a system with a card PCI-6220, and I am considering the upgrade of the computer used. If I decide to do, then I would like to upgrade the jury as well. According to the information of product of NOR, the PCI-6220 can be replaced by PCIe-6320. I am concerned by the mapping of the e/s on the same map if and I was wondering if anyone else has had experience with this. I need to know if I should change the LabView code to accommodate the new Board of Directors, or if a replacement that will work only.

    Thank you!

    WisDave wrote:

Since the list of pins of the two boards are the same, you expect that there is problems with the interaction with the SC-2345?

Not at all.  NEITHER tends to keep things mostly the same between boards so that they can reuse the connection blocks.

  • Using PCI and GPIB-Enet drivers set

We need to use a PCI and Enet GPIB controller at the same time under Solaris 9.

Is this always the case that it not there no driver unified for the PCI GPIB card and the Ethernet GPIB for Solaris (Solaris 9) controller, as shown in your post on the forum of April 2004 (pfrogers and JoshuaP)?

If there is no unified driver, is it possible to install two drivers in different directories, and then compile a program that will access both devices having carefully he use different files for header C and libraries, according to what access controller?  It seems to me, the answer will always be no, because your API GPIB function calls will have the same name between the two controllers, so there is no way to specify what (PCI or Enet version) function to call.

    Thank you.

    Hello

Thank you for your message.  Yes, it's always the case that there is no unified driver for the PCI-GPIB card and controller ENET/GPIB for Solaris 9.  You are also right in your assumption that you will not be able to compile a program that will allow you to access these two drivers in different directories.  I apologize for the inconvinience this may cause you.

    Have a great day!

    Kind regards

  • Can I use a GPIB PCI instead has a HP 82350

Can I use a card NI PCI-GPIB IEEE 488.2 in instead of a map of 82350 HP.  I want to configure a 5890 II to a PC running Windows 2000 with the Chemstation B02.01 software.  Sorry - Posted two places.

Yes, you should be able to. The two cards are GPIB controllers. Just make sure you install the NOR-488 driver for your operating system.

Thanks for the reply, it was late last night when things got sorted and I forgot to reply to this topic.

A form of engineering applications OR provided excellent assistance on this by e-mail, after several hours, it was determined the card cannot or is more than likely not a map OR but a card cleaner Mitutoyo.

Mitutoyo has been kind enough to leave out all pertinent information on the card to be of any help for the uninitiated, thanks a lot.  Allthough Mitutoyo delivered the software installation OR with the software package here it turns out that you do not install the software.

    Brilliant!

The configuration is done via TSNS (Top Secret Ninja Stuff), or information without papers.  More brightly...

And they want to upgrade me to a more recent software, DO NOT set.

Unfortunately, I assumed that the card was a material, OR because of the automatic install program supplied with the Mitutoyo software.

  • Using NI USB-GPIB controller Zeiss C90 CMM control

I have a Zeiss PCDMIS CMM running 32-bit on Windows XP with PCI GPIB (488.2 2.7.3)

If the controller is 8 bits, but work with my 32-bit system already, can I export the config VISA file, change on a 64-bit of Windows 7 with a USB to GPIB computer, and import this file into a newer version of the driver 488.2?  (change of bits or a more recent version of 488.2 will be a problem?)

    Hi Ryan,

As long as you save this export config file, you should be able to load it into the second computer MAX.  I can't find anything that says that there will be problems with the little change.  If you are really worried about it however, give it a try without getting rid of your original computer.

It seems that you already know how to transfer the settings above, but here's a KB on how to do this http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/BF528312C9A5423A862565BC00731EC0.

After having removed the long 1.5 m GPIB cable and linking the GPIB-USB-HS unit directly to the old HP3562A unit, NIMAX recognizes this instrument (low level).

Direct com on NIMAX does not, but the LabView code (old) written to read the data works.
