PCI vs USB adapters

Just bought and installed a new router E2500. I must now get an adapter for my other pc. Is there an advantage to use a PCI adapter vs a USB adapter (or vice versa)?

of course, you wouldn't be able to use a PCI adapter on a regular desktop computer. the advantage of this is that it is inside the tower PC itself if you save space. the advantage of using a USB adapter, however, is that it is portable - you can use the adapter on different computers. just unplug it, then put it on another PC/laptop.

  • How to measure high voltage (60-70 v) and current (75-80 a) using a DAQ PCI or USB DAQ

    Hello

I work with a system that works on about 5kW. The output of the system voltage can go maximum up to 60-70 v and thus the corresponding current around 75-80 a. I have 10 these systems that I want to read one by one continuously for long periods.

I am designing the automated system best suited for this and looking for the best material that would be appropriate for this purpose. Looking for options, I found that an SCC - A10 attenuator may be used to get the tension down by a factor of 10. But I'm confused, if the high current will pose a problem and also how to measure this high current.

I need to measure the voltage and current at the same time. Please suggest what would be the most appropriate fitting for the same (preferably PCI or USB)

The hope of a quick response. Thanks and greetings

  • Win7 SP1 - "Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller" does not start now

After I installed Win7 ultimate SP1 fine, I've now that in the Device Manager for the "Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller" device: Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might be installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or maybe it's a malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52)

In Device Manager, click the Standard PCI enhanced USB host controller that shows an error, just was two more separate the two display errors on mine, choose to uninstall, both. Then click Action - Scan for hardware changes at the top, Windows reinstalls them both and has done so well here for both.

I tried to set up a personal network between my 2 computers - a desktop and a laptop (the two compaq) using Bluetooth Wireless USB adapters to adapt, but it is a bit difficult in interaction

The office is quite an old machine with Windows XP Professional running on it, while the laptop is just a little more than a year with Windows Vista Edition Home Premium on it.

While I have on a few occasions (not at the time), in the past, could see the office, to see and open the files from the laptop, it's one different issue to the other. Hello

Permission on Vista are configured in this way.

Problems of permission and security with Vista/Win7, check the following settings.

All the users who are allowed to share need to have an account on all computers that they are allowed to connect to.

Everyone is an account, that means a group of all users who already have an account now as users.

Using the functionality of all saved the need to configure authorization for each of the established users, it does mean not all those who feel that they would like to connect.

Users who do not have an account on the computer are not part of the Everyone group.

If the LAN security is useless and users are not established, then move on the guest account provides the semi-open configuration.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/turn-the-guest-account-on-or-off

    ---------------------

Point to a folder that wants to share do right click and choose Properties.

    In the properties

Click on the Security tab shown in the bellows of the photo on the right) and verify that users and their permissions (see photo below Centre and left) are configured correctly. Then do the same for the authorization tab.

This screen shot is to Win 7, Vista menus are similar.

The Security Panel and the authorization Panel, you need to highlight each user/group and consider that the authorization controls are verified correctly.

When everything is OK, restart the network (router and computer).

    * Note . The groups and users listed in the screen-shoot are just an example. Your list will focus on how your system is configured.

I did not anything out of the ordinary except for an update of the computer, but I tried the system restore and it still does not fix my problem. I suggested either a new reinstall of Windows or to "press F11 on startup to restore my computer to factory settings.

I tried deactivating and reactivating. That did not work. The only thing I have not tried also the factory reset setting is reinstall my chipset, but I don't know how or what chipset I have, I just know it's AMD and ATI.

My computer is a HP Compaq Presario CQ61-420US with 3 GB of RAM, AMD Athlon II Dual Core processor, I have Windows 7 Home Premum 64-bit.

I have tried everything that I could, even went in safe mode, uninstall and re-install my drivers, but it didn't work. I really need to get this problem solved, I really need my USB ports and I don't know what to do.

    Try the following:

Start by creating a System Restore Point.

Double click on the UpperFilters and remove usbfilter > OK

    Then, restart the computer.

The reference to the usbfilter is probably not valid and removing wil restore the default UpperFilters which is empty.

  • -SOLVED! -PCI or USB wireless adapter is disabled and will not activate on Windows 7

    The solution: uninstall ZoneAlarm!

I spent 3 days and 3 different cards, trying to solve this problem. First of all, I bought a Netgear PCI wireless adapter. Installed according to the instructions. Device Manager showed the adapter works properly but turned off and nothing I tried would enable the adapter.

NETGEAR has taken over to the store and buy a Linksys PCI wireless adapter. Exactly the same problem. Device Manager, said the adapter worked correctly, but turned off and would not turn on.

So I called Linksys support and paid them only for the remote service and they couldn't get it to work either (of course to return money). They suggest is to contact Microsoft technical support or buy the USB version.

I went and picked up the USB (WUSB600-N v.2) version today and guess what? Exactly the same problem. Device Manager showed the device works correctly, but turned off and would not turn on. After talking to a few other technicians in addition to myself, we agreed that the only other option was to reinstall windows. But just before I decided to do, I checked one last time to Google and came across a post in the forums of Vista by someone who had the same exact problem, uninstalled ZoneAlarm and then worked their wireless adapter.

Well, I decided to try that before reinstalling windows. As soon as I uninstalled ZoneAlarm and the computer restarts, the adapter has been activated and automatically found my network! This means that ZoneAlarm control network on the computer and for some reason cards some not allowing a wireless adapter is enabled.

Then I tried to re-setup of ZoneAlarm. After that I have re-installed, my wireless adapter became instantly disabled and would not turn on again. So I uninstalled ZoneAlarm at all times. My router has SPI and NAT firewall on top of the Windows Firewall, so I need anyway ZA.

If you have ZoneAlarm, get rid of it. If you still experience the problem of your card activating Wireless does not and have ZoneAlarm, try to uninstall any firewall software 3rd - party that you have already installed (not the Windows Firewall).

I was really frustrated after spending 3 days with 3 different adapters and many trips to stores using the adapters and buy different cards. I'm glad I found this post on the forums of Vista, so the credit goes to the one who made this post.

On a side note, after I installed the drivers from the CD and Linksys site, Windows update has shown there is an updated driver on the site of Ralink which I installed it and so far no problem. My WUSB600-N automatically connected to the strip of the 5 GHz on my router dual band and speeds are ultra fast and signal is strong in a completely different room.

Hope this information helps others finally solve this problem.

    See you soon,.

    Matt

64-bit, but it should work on either. ZoneAlarm includes network connections and was not what allows the adapter to be activated. Even close ZoneAlarm does not work either. ZoneAlarm must be uninstalled from the card must be activated.

Vista drivers work fine with this adapter. Then a Windows Update is the updated drivers for Ralink which also work very well.

If you have properly installed the drivers and display device manager the device works correctly, but disabled, and then uninstall any firewall/antivirus 3 rd-party should do the trick.

I am a tech, more I consulted other technicians as well as paid for technical support of Linksys and nobody could understand this problem and it's no wonder. Who would have thought that ZoneAlarm or any 3rd part antivirus/firewall software would take complete control over network connections and not to allow a new network adapters must be installed correctly.

If anyone needs any help other than that, feel free to ask.

Driver HP downloads page shows nothing for W8 x 64 when I put in the serial number and search for drivers. Apparently, Windows 7 is as far as I can take this machine?

Naively, I thought that Windows can handle these aircraft out of the box, given his age.

  • The PCIe for USB 6211 OEM replacement

    Hi you all,.

We want to change our design to use PCIe card data acquisition, since we had a few USB driver problem in the past. Is the PCIe-6321 a good match to replace the capture USB-6211-OEM card

    Is there a better alternative?

    Thank you

    Fabrice

    Hello Fabrizio,

Thank you for taking an interest in our line of PCIe cards DAQ. I took a glance at the USB-6211 OEM and PCIe-6321 to see if they are similar in specifications and capabilities. I would say the 6321 is a good match to replace your current USB card. As long as you intend to use no more i/o lines than expected or exceeds the designated sampling rate then it should be a good substitute.

If you need high speed sampling or more i/o lines for various tasks, then another card can better meet your needs.

  • measurement of analog frequency with PCI or USB

I want to measure the frequency of a square wave 0 - 5V from zero to about 4 kHz permanently.  I have to record the waveform, only get the frequency.  The material at my disposal include:

  • Win 7 and 64-bit USB adapters

Background: Service mobile organization using more than 100 different pieces of software among more than a dozen OEMs to program various electronic communications / equipment.  Portable computers used in the field all have standard RS-232 ports of series 9 pins, each of the various equipment has an intertface cable used to read/write settings.  It takes a truckload of these cables...
In any case, as it becomes increasingly difficult to find new laptops with a serial port, and very recent material is now accessible via a USB port, use adapters USB-to-Serial, blah, blah, blah, etc..

Person in charge of the engineering drivers & dongles seem to understand that "RS - 232" is a STANDARD and that signals to the 9-pin end of the adapter must conform to this standard... that the driver is the software interface between the operating system (whatever it is) and the real world (RS-232).
Without mentioning name, software of all manufacturers performs equally well on Win XP and earlier via a real serial port.
The problems arise when using laptop computers WITHOUT serial ports, having only USB ports.
Each equipment manufacturer has attempted to provide a "fix" by offering a pilot & cable adapter USB-series of interconnection of existing facilities.  They ignore requests for information on patches for stuff earlier saying "is not available" or referring to him as 'legacy' products... and then suggesting that we keep "of older computers" for such problems.
In the "old days", the settings of the connection in series has been configured by the user... 8-N-1-9600, etc..
The OS is much smarter today... we have "plug & play"!  Problem is that we have now five adapters USB/serial, five pilots, and tries to do an any of them work properly on Windows 7 is a challenge.
Here's THE QUESTION - Windows 7 Will allow loading several drivers (they don't have the same file names to condition) for these different adapters, then match the driver appropriate to its adapter expected when one of the cards is connected to the laptop?  Tech readers to a site, open good software to access the customer equipment, plugs in USB-serial adpater, hope for the best... He uses a 64-bit Dell.  What we have done so far is to load a driver for a given map, use it, remove this driver in order to load another one for a different application.  This STINKS!
As we hear, "plug & play" depends on the OS see the item plugged in, receiving a little stream that contains the element 'ID' and then knows what to do next.
What we're doing wrong?  We should change the brand of deodorant?
Thanks to all those who confuse through this.

  • problems of p6616 PCI - e USB 3.0 card

I have a p6616 and I wanted to install a USB 3.0 PCI-e card, so I bought one. But it does not work. I insert the card, install the latest drivers from the manufacturer's Web site, the Device Manager shows everything works well, but nothing works, not even the mouse.

    Desktop: HP p6616
    product code xj031ea

    motherboard: card mother MS-7613 (Iona-GL8E)

card (I tried in two different locations of PCI - e): Y-6119 USB 3.0 PCI-e card with usb 3.0 4-port (two ports at the rear and two front panel). Manufacturer http://unitek-products.com/en/ I know that mobo is PCI-e 1.0 but it should work with the USB2.0 card, actually I specifically chose a 2.0 fear that I have problems with the 2.1 and of course I know that I will get the speed of the plug but still it should work.

The other PCI-e x 4 and mini PCI are not used, while the PCI - e x 16 installed a video (geforce gts 450) card. Power supply is more than enough (cooler master 850W M silentpro). There is no problem of overheating because I added fans and I watch temperatures carefully.

I tried the mouse on these usb 3.0 with low load on the system, with the system of only having to deal with the keyboard, wi - fi usb (edimax 11n), two HARD drives and SSD (but do nothing), the CD - DVD built-in (idle) and (inactive) card reader. Even if there is a problem with the motherboard Manager rate of power or data to be served, it does not appear in these conditions, regardless of the fact that really it shouldn't happen.

I've never tried the PCI-e slots with other maps since I was the computer (I got it in December 2010), but I guess they work very well, as the Device Manager is happy with them and even recognizes the card, which, however, does not work.

BIOS does not appear to be any setting which can be useful, but maybe I'm on to something... I hope.

    I'm at my wit's end.

Thank you very much to all those who can help you.

    Daniela

    Hello Daniela,

What is the version of the USB 3.0 driver?  The card has the chipset VIA , so you might try a pilot later and an update of the firmware.

The PCI-E card has a different connector on it.  I suspect that the connector is used for the supply of the additional card. I would like to plug it.
