PDF readers

Is there a PDF on your property, safe, usable reader available for download, in addition to Adobe?  I tried to update my player (by suggestion in trying to open something) and it has messed up my computer.  I can not read PDF files now.   More recently in trying to download the Adobe Reader software, I get the message "Error 1406. Could not write value Adobe Reader Speed Launcher key... "etc.  What is happening and why I can't get a drive.

Foxit Reader for U3 is a portable alternative to Adobe Reader, which allows you to view and print PDF files. Unlike Adobe Reader, it opens very fast PDF files, without delay. Foxit Reader supports all the standard features, but also integrate the browser and also an option select/copy of the text of the documents. In addition, you can create a snapshot of a selected portion of the page, convert a PDF file to plain text and more.

Is there a way to enable LiveCycle forms is visible in Firefox or Chrome without turning off their built-in PDF readers?

I read an article which stipulates that, in order to view the XFA forms in Firefox and Chrome, you will need to turn off their built-in PDF rendering engine. However, this seems a lot of work for my end users. Is there a way to activate the form to open without turning off their PDF rendering engine built into Firefox and Chrome? Is there a setting somewhere?

    # Third for interactive PDFs of any kind is rare. I don't think that built-in player of the two browsers can handle XFA or AcroForms. Look at (Support XML Forms Architecture (XFA) forms · Number #2373 · Mozilla/PDF.js · GitHub) for more details. PDF is a complex standard, and most viewers have problems enough supporting the basic principles. Of course, you could look at following Adobe LiveCycle server, which allows the rendered HTML of XFA forms.

  • Fillable PDF of Acrobat forms do not seem to work with third-party PDF readers. No way to avoid this?

I wish that adobe would make their more accessible and easy to use PDF forms making them compatible third-party PDF readers. I do extensive PDF forms that have embedded fonts, and they only work with Adobe reader software. Huge problem when there are so many other PDF readers out there. Form is basically corrupt and fonts disappear or is replaced that is not supposed to happen. How to avoid a customer called me to say that the form does not work?

They ask a Word file at the place where they are able to change fonts, colors, size, etc.. Why Adobe cannot make forms more accessible by allowing the user to change fonts if necessary?

Also, when I try to add a window where a customer can add their own photos with a bit of javascript and function button, the only eligible image type is a PDF. Why not a jpeg file for more photos are jpeg file?

It seems to me that engineers do jumps and limits of improvements on programs like Photoshop but kind of not paying attention to the fact of this PDF file are used for current affairs all the time. The PDF format has enormous potential in the place of the market, but the fact that the forms do not work on third party PDF readers and the fact that the fonts in the forms is not modifiable by the end-user in the extended format is a huge problem.

There's really nothing adobe can do on the functions of the software how not Adobe. The PDF standard is no longer controlled by Adobe, it is controlled by the ISO. Some PDF viewers choose to have no support for forms, some have good enough support, and some (such as preview) are simply malicious. There are a lot of non Adobe software that creates PDF files bad, and that does not almost using Acrobat/Reader. Still, this isn't Adobe can solve a problem.

With respect, allowing the image with the buttonImportIcon method and the reader formats, I know that sent a feature request for this. Reader 11 is the first release since Reader 5 that supports this, so I have hope for the future. In the meantime, it is pretty easy these days to convert an image in PDF format. Same preview can do.

  • TTS / pdf readers

I was not able to find an application that can read the text to speech. the desktop adobe Reader version has a record of tts, but it seems that the plug is not included in the rt version.

There are several tts and voice for android app. could someone advice me where I can find some of the equivalents for surface RT.

I especially like my RT surface now that outlook is included. However.  I find the very limited Narrator. I used to have an android based Tablet and most of the application accepts voice commands and had more options tts in different languages.

  • Firefox PDF reader does not display Watermarks

Firefox PDF reader shows no watermarks.

People can see (and print) my free samples less the watermarks that are in them.

    for example, in the lauriewilliamsmusic.com/composers/laurie-williams/auld-lang-syne/

Watermarks put in by free PDFill PDF and always appear in Adobe Reader.

I never imagined that such a failure can occur until I got was check things today and he saw. Not good.

Just realized that this thing is ask questions on my browser. I'm writing this in Chrome, but I have the latest version of Firefox.

Thank you all for your answers.

Because the reader of PDF Mozilla has unacceptable failure inability (or refusal) to display a piece of content of PDF files, then the obvious suspicion is that others may have the same defect.

Given that the Mozilla player had this serious shortcoming for years, and the related assumption that people of Mozilla (not you who answered here) seem to have insufficient or even no interest to fix, it is better considered a lost cause.

I deleted all these samples PDF filigranées and replaced with GIF images low resolution of the same files.

    http://lauriewilliamsmusic.com/composers/Laurie-Williams/Auld-Lang-Syne/

At least an advantage, in this case, is that WordPress automatically displays thumbnails of the samples. That would have been possible with supply of samples PDF, but is much easier this way.

    Problem solved.

A warning to anyone who sells download content in the form of files PDF and offers for free a watermark samples of all - because the PDF readers cannot trust to work correctly, to provide these samples in the form of GIF images, never in the form of PDF files.

    Gerard

Hi Gerard, you have moved away from using the PDF Viewer integrated into the Adobe Acrobat Viewer? This article has the steps to do this if you have not tried, and also shows where you can confirm who is used: How to disable the built-in PDF Viewer and use another Viewer.

When you save a PDF file using the built-in Viewer, use the download button the toolbar above the PDF file (it looks like an arrow pointing down). This can be more reliable than the command save the Page under.

When you save a PDF file using the Adobe Acrobat Viewer, when you move the pointer of the mouse down the document, a floating toolbar should appear with a drive icon. (Or if you press the ESC key, a toolbar should appear above the document.) Use the drive icon on the Adobe Acrobat toolbar to save the document.

  • How to get Firefox to display the pdf file in the browser (Win 7, FF 19.0, AA 10.1.6 IE 9)?

After that Firefox updated to version 19, when I tried to view a pdf file, the file appeared in a strange new Viewer. Seemed work OK, but I was concerned (did not know that this is apparently a new feature of 19 FF) and I wanted the viewer Adobe back.

After a few minutes of listening in the FF pdf viewer, a message appears that says something like--this viewer may be displayed not the document correctly. You want to use Adobe Acrobat instead?-I clicked on Yes.

Now, when I click on a link for a pdf file, it will either automatically opens in Adobe Acrobat (windows application, no player in FF) format, or I'll get a dialog box that asks if I want to save the file or use Adobe Acrobat to open it.

    I followed the instructions here:

    http://support.Mozilla.org/en-us/KB/use-Adobe-Reader-plugin-view-or-download-PDF-files?ESAB=a & s = View + PDF + in + browser & r = 0 & s = ACE

  • The PDF module does not work with Firefox 14.0.1

I have not found an Add on PDF that works with 14.0.1. I have to go to IE or Chrome when there is a PDF file to open.

If you're not opposed to the use of the plugin that ships with Adobe Reader X, this article might help: use the Adobe Reader to view or download PDF files plugin.

If you prefer Foxit Reader, it might be that you must activate the add-on or to update, and then turn it back on.

To check the disabled modules, try here:

Orange Firefox button or classic menu Tools > Modules

Check as well the category Plugins and Extensions for your PDF readers. You will find the disabled items in a separate set at the bottom of the list.

To check the updates of the add-on, use the "gear" above the list.

  • Cannot view pdf attachments in mail apps

    6 p iPhone / iPad 2 Air

    the two running iOS 9.3.1

Previously, when I typed on an attachment in the Mail application I could see it. Now, it downloads an image of the first page (which means that I don't even have the option to open in a pdf reader. All other types of attachments can be previewed as always (including pictures and spreadsheets.

This happens also to some extent in other email applications, but the behavior is different - sometimes it is just an image, sometimes the entire pdf downloads but opens on a placeholder indicating "PDFReader File", because of its size, on a gray background. At least I can then open it in another application. Applications that behave in this way are Outlook, shipping and air mail.

Spark works as we - I can view pdf within the spark files without opening in another drive.

I tried to remove spark, in case that was the issue, but nothing has changed.

All pdf readers are normally (Expert PDF and Documents). I tried to remove the material because it was a recent installation, but it also makes no difference.

This happens on iOS that I use and my husband 6 and iPhone devices.

What I noticed in the mail when I type to download the iBooks fleetingly icon appears and I wonder if it has something to do with it.

I tried a few other things, looked into the settings, rebooted etc etc, but nothing helped. He has only started a couple of weeks so wonder if something is introduced in the last update.

Thanks a lot if you can offer any advice or next steps.

    Deb

This happened on my devices also.  I have seen one our help nothing helps.

  • having problem reading pdf files

Hello world! My name is HP slate 7 HD 3403ea. I'm having some trouble reading PDF files. That day, after that I bought my tab, I transferred about 25 PDF files from my handset to this tab. I could open all the files then. But a few hours later, when I tried again I could open only a few files, about 8 of them. I couldn't open the rest of the files. They showed "cannot open the file because it is not a valid PDF document.". Let me say clearly that all files that cannot be opened in my HP tab, can easily be opened by any other official bulletins, for example: my HTC handset or my HP laptop. I tried different things. I uninstalled the antivirus thinking that may be the cause of the problem, I tried various recognized appstore PDF readers, but none worked. Only 8 or 9 files can be opened now. I deleted all files "disabled" what we call, then donated to them. But it's the same thing. Each file can be opened immediately after the transfer, but none could be opened after a few hours. Help, please. Thank you.

    Hey @Atonu_dt ,

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

I understand that you are having problems to open PDF files on your Tablet HP Slate 7 HD.

Try to clear the cache on the tablet. You can do this by going to settings > storage > cached data. This should prompt allows you to clear the cache on the tablet.

I also suggest to try the App PerfectViewer. To read PDF files, you will also need the PerfectViewer PDF plugin. These two are easy to find in the Google game store by searching PerfectViewer.

Let me know if it works.

  • scan of letter in pdf format size gets expanded on record. How can I control this?

    HP J6400 OfficeJef

    Windows 7 64 bit

Changing the resolution (DPI) scans is the only constructed so as to reduce the size of the scanned PDF files. Alternatively, you can change the output in grayscale instead of color and/or analyze the result in JPG format.

The size of the scanned PDF files may be affected by the PDF Creator used in the digitization of conversion. I learned this release different versions over the years have varied in size because of the way the file is created. It has also been suggested that large files are compatible with several versions of PDF readers.

  • OfficeJet Pro 8600, Windows XP, very slow to print scanned pdf

All other prints exception scanned to PDF print normal PCDFS, even imported e-mail, etc., all other types of files.

Problem occurred after problems with XP, computer tech could rectify not so copied all files and reinstalled XP, no problem with XP, but the printing problem now with my own scanned pdf.  Thanks for any help.  JLS1946

Thank you to all who responded.  I have to admit it's a tough trying to decide it's the printer, it's Adobe, is the USB connection / wireless?  Now, that's what I managed to rule out now (thanks for all the help that JLS1946 did) it's not the connection.  I went until take that to someone who is very familiar with the Adobe and they suggested uninstall/re-installing Adobe. He said you should not lose your saved work and which corrected this before.  However, not all of you use the same software or the print version. PDF files, it seems.

Knowing what I know about the way in which the information is transferred to the printer, it is meaningless for me how only a few .pdfs are slower than others.  Check the contents in the file you are trying to print and compress, when you can.   I know that the web content may take longer to process during a print job and now I have to wonder if that has no place in the commonality among all of those here.

I think the last document I ran through should have some good suggestions. Let me know if it works. One of the reasons I don't think specifically that it is the Officejet 8600 is especially because it happens to other printers like this.  The only thing you have in common is Adobe. While searching for other PDF readers, I have noticed Adobe had so many stars (3.5 stars) like Foxit Reader (4 stars) did.  I'm not the right person to defend as to who can be a better software to use however.  I know I like CNET for their reviews and videos.

  • Documents to go blackBerry Smartphones and pdf

Can someone help me - o2 could certainly! I started having trouble reading downloaded pdf. Any time I tried, I got an error message telling me that "the pdf cannot be opened because there is an ongoing dialogue on documents to go. Please close this dialog and try again". O2 were such, that slab off the coast! So I deleted documents to go thinking that it was unnecessary to have because it did not work properly. On App World, that I can't find alternative pdf readers - thoguh even an internet search suggests that they are there - and I cannot find anywhere where I can download the documents to go.

Thank you very much if anyone can help.

    Steve

Hi again, have now downloaded PDF files initially, I downloaded but cannot open. Download, save to the device, documents to go, pdf appears, highlight and then press the scroll key, no problem. I wrote a letter of complaint to the o2 - I have a good mind to add a P.S. saying to someone in the forums have what they couldn't do. Thanks again, this mark as solved by a very helpful person. Steve.

  • Photos retouched not showing in Indesign CC PDF

I created a page layout in Indesign, and I placed an image of a soldier in uniform. I can see in my PDF, but my client says he can't in his when I e-mail. So I sent an email - yup - soldier not there and myself.

I'm trying to figure out what I did wrong. Here's what I did:

I took the pix of the soldier in photoshop and removed the background. I saved as .psd and imported my InDesign layout. I went to effects and put a small feather around the photo to soften the edges. High quality PDF creation.

That's all. What I am doing wrong?

Most likely your client tries to view the PDF in his email or his web browser, or a a standard as PDF reader preview for Mac. These PDF readers are not enough to look at the complex graphics.

If necessary, give him a link to download the free Adobe Reader and view the PDF file there.
