PERC H730P Seagate RAID rebuild compatible technology?

Hi people,

I would use Seagate enterprise capacity discs in a R730 host I'm stating, in part because of these disks with RAID of Seagate rebuild feature. Does anyone know if the H730P controller supports RAID rebuild Seagate Technology?

http://www.Seagate.com/files/staticfiles/docs/PDF/whitepaper/tp620-1-1110us-reducing-RAID-recovery.PDF

Rebuilding RAID of Seagate allows the partial copy of defective disks feature by activating a drive failing actively help the host to recover the maximum amount of data possible before starting a RAID recovery.

See you soon,.

Robert, Daniels made reference to an owner of Seagate raid function. Noticed that the date is 2006 for the link above. To be a wannabe technology that Seagate hoped to require royalties for.  Raids based free use no data on a failed drive to retrieve data according to the link; I've found that references to all other suppliers of raid adopting it.

This link can be found on a page dated date 2015, guess Seagate still hope that someone will adopt it.

You can manually download and install it. The rest are not always being updated just once the new firmware is available.

  • Reference Dell 2950 Perc 6/i Raid card device driver

Good morning community, I'm trying to find the Dell 2950 Perc 6/i Raid adapter Device Driver for Windows 2008 R2 Standard OS. Thanks in advance for your help. Modem489

You don't need to load a driver for the PERC 6 / i in Server 2008 or newer version, the driver is 'native' for Windows.  If you think that you need a driver, I suspect it is because you tried to install and it is not all discs.  If Yes, do not forget that PERC does NOT support RAID/JBOD, then you must configure disks to a virtual disk (VD, matrix RAID) before they can be presented to the OS.  It can be configured in the CTRL-R utility (be sure to check the boxes of progress/Initialize options too).

  • Expanding RAID 10 on Dell R730 with Perc h730P

    Hi all

We try to develop an array of RAID 10 on a server rack with a h730P Perc controller Dell R730. We currently have 6, 600 GB SAS drives in RAID 10 Bay. When he clicks on the controls to perform an action it really gives us only to assign Global Hot Spare. There is no option for "Task Reconfigure" on the virtual drive to increase the table to include 2 new readers. I'm not sure how to proceed. It is a server recently bought last year. We use OpenManage Server Administrator to try to achieve this. Reading some forums it seems that we will see a "reconfigure tasks" on the drop of virtual drive, but we do not have.

    Thank you

You cannot reconfigure a nested table of RAID (RAID 10, 50 and 60).

You must save, create table, restore.

  • Reference Dell T610 PERC 6i - very slow RAID rebuild

Hi all, I have a DELL T610 with a Controller PERC 6i with 4 x 1 TB SAS 7.2 K disks configured as a RAID6. 1 of the drives has failed, I installed the new drive, but reconstruction is only 44% after 36hrs! Why is it so slow? Any ideas would be greatly accepted.

RAID 6 is well known for its performance of poor\slow. This is the only function is to be safer than RAID 5, not to be fast and cheap.  With parity RAID, to rebuild the whole picture.  They have been known to go for a week or more before they are finished, according to the size and speed of players.

    The H730P controller supports RAID 10 dies in car 4 x 4?

    Hello

    sandy98g

    The H730P controller supports RAID 10 dies in car 4 x 4?

    Yes

The limits on the H730 exceed most of the hardware configurations. The H730 supports up to 64 virtual disks, you could theoretically have 64 x 4 disk RAID 10 s.

There are length of scope and limits of disk to consider as well, but this configuration is not near any limitation of the controller.

You must clear the foreign configuration.  Go to storage, PERC, Information/Configuration (link at the top of the page), then foreign/Clear in the menu tasks available for the controller.  Then you can assign the drive as a hot spare to start reconstruction.

  • Add the disk to the PERC H700 of RAID integrated table 5

    Hi all.

I have currently a Dell PowerEdge R710 configured with 4 SAS - 2 10 146 k Seagate 2.5 "drives in a Perc h700 integrated Bay RAID-5. I ordered a SAS-2 10 146 k disk Seagate 2.5 "to add to the Bay RAID-5 storage, making it a 5-disc set. What is the best way to add the drive to the RAID-5 array without losing any data? I have OpenManage Server Admin on the server.

    OS: Windows Server 2003 R2 32 BIT

You can use OMSA... go in storage, PERC, virtual disks and select Reconfigure in the drop-down list of tasks available for your RAID 5.  This will add the disk to your RAID 5, then you will need to adjust the partitions in Windows once it is completed.

  • Updated full M610/620 PERC H310 Mini RAID 1 disk

I have 8 servers in my M1000e chassis.  They have all two drives 146 GB in Raid-1.  Just got in a boat load of 600GO drives gently used off PE R630 servers who are re-designed in a laboratory.

I would like to replace all the records with the largest, with minimal downtime and no data loss.

Advice? Tips? Advice?  Everything would be extremely appreciated before I mess up and make + 400 users very angry with me...

    Hello.

It is possible to perform this operation with minimal downtime. Ensure that you have a backup validates your data just to be safe. You can do this by deleting every old hard drive and replacing with 600 GB disk, one at a time. Let the new drive to rebuild completely before replacing the other. You can monitor the progress of the reconstruction in OpenManage Server Administrator (OMSA) if installed. Clear the foreign configuration if it appears on the disc, if the drive rebuilt and state LOAN ; assign as a Global hot spare.

You will notice that the total capacity of the virtual disk (VD) will not 600GO, because there will be unused space on the disks. You will use the property capacity expansion (OCE) online from your controller to claim unused space. In OMSA, GB storage-> PERC H310-> virtual disk-> available-> Reconfigure tasks-> capacity and continue. Under RAID level, select RAID 1 and enter 100 to recover any space unused on the disks and continue. See schematic illustration below:

Let me know if you need additional assistance.

  • Disc question PowerEdge T300 Perc 6 / I Raid 5

I have a PowerEdge T300 with Perc 6 / I and Raid 5 with 3 hot swap 15 k 146 GB disks and 1 hot spare in the fourth slot from the backplane. Drive HARD 0 is orange flashing while HDD1 thru HDD3 are green. I have a new hard drive to install. I have to restart under the Perc 6 / I installation, disable HDD0, then turn the power off and replace it and walk back in Perc 6 / I and add the new disk and restart. Drive HARD 0 rebuild in the table or what I need to assign the new drive as the new hot spare? Are there instructions on how to replace a drive like that?

    Thank you

    Mark

Once in the controller and you can just physically pull the failed drive. After removing, then wait a moment and insert the new drive. If the virtual disk has been degraded, then it should start to rebuild on its own once the replacement is inserted. If the virtual disk has been Optimal, then physically pull the drive and insert the replacement. Then in the BIOS OF THE controller, you can configure the replacement as a hot spare.

  • RAID controller perc 5 / i Raid 5 rebuid of security

    Hello.

    need help.

    I have the raid 5 6-disc version. 136GB x 2 drives and 4 x 2 TB. (why? don't ask some black.)

    RAID controller perc 5 / i

so a question is: can I discs remove 2 136 GB safety (without data loss) and rebuild the raid to work only with 4 drives of 2 TB and volume take all the space?

You cannot delete records from the table - the number of disks must remain the same (or you can add to it). You need backup/restore to make a smaller VD.

  • Satellite A350-233 - Seagate Momentus XT compatible?

Hi guys, I want to buy a Seagate hard drive but I can't be sure if it's compatible with my Toshiba Satellite A350-233. The hard drive, I want to buy is the following: "Seagate Momentus XT 500 GB at 7200 RPM / MIN SATA 3 Gb/s 32 MB Cache 2.5 inch Solid State Hybrid Drive ST95005620AS-naked in the car" (amazon link is below).

I contacted Seagate and they told me that it should be compatible, but I have to contact Toshiba to see if there are known issues. Can anyone enlighten me here? You have problems if I bought it?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hey,.

    > but I have to contact Toshiba to see if there are known issues.
Just for your information: here it s just a forum for a user to without any Toshiba technicians so I put t someone can tell you about known issues. ;)

In any case, I don't see a reason why the player should not work. It of very important that he s 2.5 HARD drive with SATA interface.

You should try it. In the worst cases, it won't work, then you can return to the store and buy another ;)

  • Develop a virtual drive on a Dell Perc 6 / i Raid 6?

    Hello

I have a PowerEdge T310 with 4 disks hotswap (raid 6), and his running dangerously low on space...

Can I just buy 4 new larger discs and (one by one) replace the 'old'?

If I can expand the virtual drive or I have to create a second virtual disk with the new free space?

    Thanks for your help

    -Michael

    Hello RobertQuinn,

Here's the way taken in charge to get extra space for your system.

    (1) get a backup of your data

    (2) remove the table

    (3) to re-create the table with the big readers

    (4) reinstall OS if have a BONE on the front table

    (5) to restore the backup data

Now, it is also a way not taken in CHARGE that you can do it as well & to do this as it is as follows:

    (1) get a backup of your data.

    (2) rebuild each disc large table.

    (3) after all rebuilt Delete array.

    (4) after the table has been deleted and then make a change

    (5) does NOT init the virtual disk

    (6) create new array with Available space
